• Christine (10/5): Traditional room, relaxing baths, friendly people - the best! - The time I spent at Ryokan Yamashiroya was the highlight of my trip to Kyushu. The hosts and staff were warm and friendly and made me feel very welcome. Food was exceptional and there were four different baths to choose from. A wonderful relaxing time and I felt completely at home.

The owners are so lovely, I got picked up at the train station, the decoration everywhere is super cute, the room was clean and comfortable. The onsens are really nice and both the dinner and breakfast was amazing! I really want to stay here again!

• 문혁 (10/5): - 진짜추천합니다! 처음엔 탕 4개를 다른 투숙객들과 공유한다는 사실에 걱정이 많았습니다. 막상 가보니 여유롭게 원하는 때 잘 쓸 수 있었습니다!! 그리고 노천탕 아닌 탕들도 넘 이쁘고 사용하기 좋았습니다. 알차게 쓰시고 싶다면 저녁보단 좀 이르게(저희는 4시쯤 체크인했습니다) 첵인하시는 것 추천합니다! 저녁에 이용하는 팀들이 꽤 있거든요. 식사도 정말 알차고 최고였어요!! 다 먹은 젓가락을 정리하는 것이 예의라고하니 참고하시면 좋을 거 같아요. 저희는 몰랐다는...ㅠ 무튼 추천하는 료칸입니다!! 풍경이 좋은데 대형 전봇대가 있어서 좀 아쉬웠습니다.

• stephanie (10/5): Super séjour dans un ryokan familial - Nous avons ete accueilli chaleureusement par les propriétaires. Le parking n'est pas a côté de l'établissement car la ruelle devant le ryokan est trop etroite mais le monsieur est venu nous chercher en voiture pour transporter nos bagages. La chambre était spacieuse, les lits ultra confortables et la cuisine excellente. Nous ne mangeons pas de viande et ils se sont adaptés sans problème. Il y a 4 bains privés a l'intérieur du Ryokan ( 2 extérieurs et 2 intérieurs). Ils sont tous tres agréables et l'eau est bien chaude ce qui est agréable après une journée de balades. C'est a 15 mn de Yufuin. La disponibilité des bains est disponible via un écran dans la chambre, c'est vraiment facile pour gérer. Le petit village est agréable avec un circuit piéton et des lanternes qui éclairent le doir. Nous reviendrons sans hésitation. Rien, tout etait parfait

• JIWON (10/5): 가족여행객들이나 커플들에게 추천드려요 - 저녁식사와 아침식사 모두 만족스러웠습니다. 직원분들이 아주 친절하세요. 특히 객실에서 티비를 통해 4가지 온천 이용 현황을 알 수 있어서 너무 편하게 이용했습니다. 각각의 온천들은 프라이빗하게 이용 할 수 있어서 너무 만족스럽고 객실도 너무 편하고 넓고 깨끗했어요 화장실도 2개인 점이 가족여행객들에겐 최고이고요 유후인 시내에서 차로 이동해야 하는데 숲 속에 위치한 온천 마을로 거리가 좀 있었습니다. 도로 공사중인것도 좀 불편했어요

Try very hard to make the guest feel welcome and relax. Since this is the first time in Japan, driving into the village, it’s a little bit complicated. The parking it’s right off the highway and you had to walk down very steep stairs. A bit unnerving!

• Bender Koch (9/5): Old style ryokan with lovely food - Quiet old onsen village hidden in a narrow gorge. Wonderful food and breakfast. Enjoyable private onsen - both indoor and outdoor baths. We loved the spacious room with the sound of the river, nice tatami mats and views from the vindows. Allow yourself to a stroll through the village, visiting the shrine with the buddha at the end of the village and the story of how an old monkey was the first user of the healing baths! The place would benefit of an update to reflect the high standard of the baths and the food. The wall-to-wall carpets seem from another time and hiding the traditional Japanese wooden flooring (I suppose).

• Tati Sotiropoulos (8/5): Pleasant stay with amazing food - The Onsens were very good. The food was absolutely fantastic. The staff was good and helpful. The facilities were abit on the older side and not much around it at all. There were way too many rules to follow as well. Also, when I went to pay the machine would not work with my Wise Visa card, which worked everywhere else, so had to pay cash. Which was not what I had planned for.

Location was little more quiet than I thought. There were no restaurants or bars anywhere near. But maybe it’s good things for really enjoying peaceful minds. lol
• Dieter (9/5): Fantastische Ruheoase zum Entspannen - Die Atmosphäre ist sehr angenehm. Die Gastgeber kümmern sich sehr aufmerksam um die Gäste und das Essen war abwechslungsreich und sehr lecker. Es blieben keine Wünsche offen. Das Ryokan verfügt über 2 Indoor und 2 Outdoor Bäder, für eine oder zwei Personen oder eine ganze Familie. Besonders hat uns die Lage des Ryokans in einem kleinen Dorf, umgeben von Wäldern und entfernt von Touristenströmen gefallen.

• Hee Sung (10/5): Excellent place for relaxing - Dinner on the day of arrival and breakfast were both excellent, featuring a wide variety of delicious homemade dishes. The onsen within the ryokan were wonderful as well, with two outdoor and two indoor baths available at convenient times. For those who enjoy golf, relaxing in the onsen after a round makes for a perfect experience. The room was spacious for two guests and furnished with two separate Japanese-style beds. I also enjoyed wearing the complimentary kimono, which added to the relaxing atmosphere. As village is small, not much of things to explore but relaxing.

• 磯部 (10/5): 最高の旅になりました。 - ４種類のお風呂。 貸し切りなので、気兼ねなくゆっくり楽しめた。 食事も夕食、朝食共にとても美味しく、大満足でした。 夕食後、お部屋に戻ろうとした所、お櫃に残っていたご飯を夜食にとおにぎりにしてくれたり、気遣い、心配り、どれも最高だった。 女将さんの人柄、ご主人やスタッフさんもみんな素晴らしく良かった。 行き届いている、これがサービス業だなと感じた。 総じて良くない点はなかった。 強いて言うなら、年季の入った建物なので、部屋の洗面所が少し古いかなーというくらいで、全く問題はなかった。

They have variety of private onsens that you can choose from and enjoy with your partner, the open air one was so beautiful. Peaceful stay and friendly hosts - we will miss them! It’s located a train ride away from Yufuin, and around the onsen there’s nothing much there. Can be a bit inconvenient to get to, but hosts were very helpful (plus provide pickup service from Yunohira station to the ryokan)

• Robert (10/5): Homely Inn in the Mountains outside Yufuin - This was one of 4 ryokan that we stayed in during our tour of Kyushu. It was the cheapest and the most informal. It is also a little off the beaten track, but you can get picked up and dropped off at the local station. It has the feel of a mountain cabin, with old furniture and decor. It is, however, wonderfully homely and the owners are just the loveliest people. It also has 4 family onsen, that you can lock for privacy. The food is excellent, and there is a lot of it. The current owner is the third generation, and speaks excellent English. It's a little out of Yufuin, 25 minutes including car ride and train. We didn't get the chance to explore the neighborhood although the views were lovely. Not sure what else is around the ryokan as we only stayed one night.

• Kim (10/5): A repeat stay and we weren't disappointed - Everything that you'd expect from a traditional Ryokan, from the friendliness of the hosts to the food and rooms. This is my second time staying there in as many years. This time with a group of 10 and everyone had high praises for our stay. The parking spaces were tight. But the Ryokan was situated in a small village in the mountains and it can be expected.
