Guest Reviews
- Rose (10/5): All good. - Very nice. The sash windows downstairs need to have some window wedges to keep them open safely
- Doug (10/5): - It was quite central for with access to the motorways and our relations lived within 30 mins of it in any dorection, the grounds were lovely and staff ever so friendly
- Amar (7/5): -

- Stephen (10/5): -
- Carole (8/5): - Our room was really quiet.
The garden area was lovely to wander about in. Lots of different areas around the hotel, inside and out, to relax in, depending on the weather.
Our evening meal main course was nicely cooked.
The coffee at breakfast was hot, smooth and strong. We asked for scones and tea when we arrived at 1330hrs to be told they had run out.
At evening meal the tiramisu was reinvented but not very successfully. The price of the desserts at evening meal were not proportionate to the quality provided.
Breakfast was scheduled to finish at 10.30 but when we arrived at 0935 there was limited choice on the serving area.
Although the waiting staff asked if we had been before they didn't offer a menu and there was only a small choice for the meat eater with me. When I asked, they offered a cooked vegetarian plate which again was limited in its variety.
A pity the food and food service generally was not up to the 4 stars the hotel suggests.

- Victoria (9/5): Best hotel we’ve ever booked ! Food and accommodation was exceptional. - Very grand but comfortable and welcoming.
Very attentive but not overwhelming staff. Beautiful place One of our rooms had lovely furniture but it hadn’t been properly arranged. Plug socket nowhere near dressing table for example. Picky, I know but it was a junior suite and we would expect a little better
- Paul Riordan (8/5): - Great staff. Lovely drawing room. Nil

- Eamon (8/5): - Lovely big comfortable rooms. Great shower. Friendly staff. Breakfast was not great- cold and hot food in separate rooms, most items not replenished in cold section (but you could ask) sausages poor quality. There were othr items such as pancakes etc that were not mentioned or offered but other patrons had them. Finally the cutlery was a bit odd for breakfast, a fish knife and fork and a soup spoon.

- samantha (9/5): - There is a very relaxed atmosphere, the food was delicious. Staff were very friendly. There was only one thing that was abit much. I didny book breakfast with my stay I like to decide in the morning. Went for breakfast, seated, advised by many staff members that breakfast wasn't included in my rate. It felt a little over the top. A little embarrassing.
- Bernie (10/5): A memorable experience at Barberstown Castle - From the moment we entered to the time we left, the staff were exceptional, nothing was any trouble.
Everyone was kind, helpful.
We were given clear instructions to every place we wanted to go, We were part of a family birthday meal and staff on duty in the castle were so lovely to us all.
The bedroom was amazing with the most comfortable bed & top class bedlinen.
Quiet, ultimate comfort are words that spring to mind when I think of Barberstown Castle. Not screaming and loud, but classic & gentle...the best kind that gives you everything you need. I wouldn't like to be paying the oil bill...at today's prices.
But everywhere was warm & comfortable for a stormy night. We never heard the storm, but could see the trees blowing outdoors, we were sheltered from it all.
- Ben (10/5): Excellent getaway. The attention to detail sold it for me. Keep up the good work - Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Excellent food and drinks. The barton bar and restaurant was excellent. Rooms were fab. N/A
- Greg (9/5): -
- Rafiq (9/5): Bidet - The hotel has a very beautiful lobby, we enjoyed the classical theme. The staff were lovely to us and the room had everything we needed and more. Level of cleanliness wasn't what we expected, especially given the kind of hotel and the price.

- Gary (8/5): Classic Elegant -
- marius (9/5): -
- Patrick (7/5): PD - Very reasonably priced. Good advance planning for a special need. Friendly and courteous in an old style way that was really nice. Was trying to celebrate something but food and ambience while value for money was consistent with that value, in other words, ordinary.
- Aifric (10/5): - The hotel is beautiful, classy, peaceful, luxurious and great value for money. Very hard to describe but an amazing experience.
- Sean (1/5): Horrible experience - It was lovely looking hotel with artisan furniture and period look. Very nice grounds also. First, we were greeted by a lady at check-in. She loudly announced that I booked on booking.com so everyone could hear in reception area. A little too loud. We got to the room and it was the smallest we have ever stayed in. It was clean but I wasn’t big enough. We then noticed that the bathroom had the worst draft ever. We found the source of the draft. It was an old extractor fan hole in the window. The hotel used duct tape and tissues to cover it in but it had fallen down. My wife and I had to wear jumpers and I fell ill the next day.
- Kate (10/5): -
- Lena (10/5): Relaxing , elegant & stunning - Barberstown castle was absolutely beautiful, the grounds were stunning , we only stayed 1 night & our room was gorgeous,& the staff from check in to checkout were so nice I loved the interior of the hotel & the rooms I will definitely be back , Nothing
- Darrell (9/5): -
- Marie (10/5): - Rooms could be a bit more fancy.!

- John (10/5): Beautiful property with amazing staff who make you feel valued as a guest - The attentiveness of the staff is exceptional, and while I did not pick up on many names the one I do remember is Heather, she greeted everyone with the same level of professionalism and warmth, making sure that everything was as good as it could be for the guest, there was a similar level of attentiveness from all staff in the hotel that we interacted with, what also really impressed me was where we returned back to the hotel in the early hours of the morning, we were hungry but knew the kitchen would be closed, we asked on the off chance there was anything available to eat and the staff offered turn on the oven and make a pizza for us which was then delivered to our room, most places would just say the kitchen is closed but the staff here were happy to make sure the guest was looked after.

- MARTY (10/5): -
- Katy (7/5): -
- Kristen (7/5): Great food and friendly staff, definitely worth a visit! - The staff were really friendly and efficient and the food was really good , we ordered breakfast to the room which was gorgeous and our evening meal was also really good, I would recommend a visit We got the last room in the hotel which was suitable for a disabled person but the bed was very uncomfortable , it didn't seem to have any soft topper at all and I was surprised to have a curtain sticking to me in the shower. Generally I would expect a glass panel or privacy wall in a hotel of this caliber but apart from that I was very happy with the hotel
- Con (7/5): -
- Monica (7/5): -
- Barbara (7/5): It was honestly just “okay” - I liked the fact that we technically stayed in “a castle” and the location was conveniently located near Dublin airport. Didn’t like the hot room with no fan.
Didn’t like the lack of attention from check in staff
Didn’t like the tiny TV
Didn’t like that breakfast wasn’t included
Didn’t like not being able to visit the part of the hotel that is considered the castle
Didn’t like the overflowing garbage receptacle in the parking lot.
- Ciara (10/5): -
- Eileen (10/5): - Fantastic hotel very comfortable, lovely friendly welcoming staff, will definitely be back again
Repas banal. Route le long des chambres bruyante. Pour le prix c'est moyen. 180€ aurait été le bon prix.
- Darryl (10/5): If you are ever in the Kildare area of Ireland, definitely attempt to visit and stay at this hotel. It is very well mai - Everything! What a charming castle to visit and stay in. The staff were amazing and the room was very comfortable. N/A
- Chris (2/5): Dirty , damp and disappointing !! - Location to the K Club The hotel room was damp , dirty , mattress poor and overall tired !!
What are the crown like chairs about ? Absolutely tacky and don’t fit the surroundings.
- Mary Paula (10/5): - The bed was unbelievably comfortable; the moment you lay down, you sank into the mattress as it molded perfectly to every curve of your body. The fan wasn't working in the bathroom.
- patricia (8/5): - Very comfortable, atmospheric hotel. Good breakfast in lovely surroundings My tiny teacup dog cost €50 to stay. She is non-shedding and very clean. I was told the room would need a 'deep clean' after her!!! Disappointing
- David (8/5): - The room was lovely, the food was excellent! (lunch, dinner & breakfast) and the staff individually couldn't have been more attentive, but the service was a little uncordinated, slightly more coordination / management of staff & the staff rating would be a 10 out of 10 too.... Would we go back, 100%
- Marie (9/5): -
- Elaine (8/5): Very enjoyable - Character and class Due to building works, was a little Limited in providing cosy chill out seating areas
- Claire (9/5): - Went for my daughter who was attending a pony club ball for Christmas.
Beautifully decorated. The banquet hall was really nice.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Old fashion bedroom full of character
- Edward (9/5): - Location, food, service, staff Lyons tea bags. Should have been Barrys
- Gibson (10/5): - Had a lovely stay in this beautiful hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable. Just found heating was not satisfactory. No extra covers or blankets in room. Heating poor in large room.
- Suzanne (9/5): -
- Woods (9/5): - Lovely hotel, very quirky in a fabulous way. Food was excellent and well priced. We had a beautiful 4 poster large bed. Absolutely loved it, would highly recommend this hotel It was pricey for the room otherwise no complaints
- Norman (10/5): -
- Michael (8/5): -
- Patrick (10/5): - The atmosphere
- Rob Gallagher (8/5): - Beautiful hotel set in lovely grounds, very close to Celbridge where we had family, and next to excellent transport links to go to Dublin City and beyond. Room was big, roomy with a four poster bed. The price of drinks was extortionate and €20 per person for breakfast was far too high. Found it was quite hard sell to pay for and book breakfasts when we checked in even after we said we didn't need breakfast in the morning. It was mentioned at least 3-4 times.
