Guest Reviews
- Matthew (7/5): Clean, convenient & local to all amenities - Location right in the town centre Bin in my room was dirty no bag in it. Needs replacing. It was a black bin in room no. 13

- Cotterill (1/5): HMO not a lodge. - Waking up and getting out of there. Stank of weed, people up all night slamming doors. Church bell every 15 minutes. No sleep
- Christopher (6/5): handy for a 1 night stay - Great location
Handy for station
Centre of the town window didn't shut
church bell chime every 15 mins, take earplugs
- Claire (4/5): Overnight stay - The room was cold , heating didn't work very noisy at night time with the squeaky doors and the church bells going off every 15 minutes. Really bad. Definitely wouldn't recommend and won't be coming back
- Stephen (6/5): -
- Mohammed (10/5): Awesome value for money, kind staff - Great communication and staff, very helpful with my needs, awesome value for money
- Richard (10/5): -
- Ravisanker (7/5): - The location is excellent, right in the town center with all the shops nearby, which was very convenient. For the price I paid, it was good value. I didn’t use many of the amenities since I only stayed overnight, mainly for sleeping and using the bathroom, and both served the purpose well. There was no clear display or sign to identify the property, which made it a bit tricky to find.
- Deian (1/5): Wouldn’t stay again. - Location was good. The room smelled bad when I arrived and had to open the window which made it cold at night.

- Rachel (1/5): Stay Away. We were refused entry for no reason and our money hasn't been returned. Disability discrimination. - Nothing. We didn't get to stay there . I booked this lodging shortly before . My son wasn't able to stay in his flat over night so needed alternative lodgings for the night. My son has a disability that sometimes makes his speech unclear especially when tired which he was.
We arrived. I pulled my car up outside while he knocked at the dirty front door. It was opened a crack and my son asked if it was the Travel lodge, accidentally, instead of saying Macclesfield Lodge. A slip of the tongue. He then corrected himself. The man took the booking reference from my phone and then said please wait a minute and shut the front door. 7 minutes later he came back and said he was cancelling the booking !!! When asked why, he seemed to say something like, your drunk ! I couldn't understand very easily what he was saying as he had a foreign accent but I think that is the reason he gave.
I explained that my son was not drunk, I was driving and neither of us had had any drink what so ever and i explained that my son has a disability.
However he refused and said he would give a refund.
We left immediately.
I have emailed the owners and as of yet 60 hrs later
Have not had a refund.
Do not touch this place with a barge pole.
( and please if you want to know i am not a hater or an unreasonable person, please see my past reviews of places. I don't go around making things up )
- Jānis (4/5): - Sapelējušas žalūzijas, istabas stūros zirnekļu tīkli. Izstabas bildes neatbilda realitātei.
- Emuohwo Prisca (8/5): - Everything else except that there were no plates. No plates.
- Simon (3/5): Poor - Friendly reception. Very noisy as next door to a church. Hostel atmosphere. No lampshade. Windows broken and next to a fire escape, risk of robbery. Disgusting bathroom.
Very uncomfortable bed.
Went elsewhere in the end.
- Palma (8/5): Great location on affordable price, and helpful staff. Optimal to relax or visit the Peak District. - The location is perfect. The hotel is in the center but relatively quiet. Shops, restaurants, railway and bus station is close. The quality of the water is excellent, the heating was on whenever the weather became a bit uncomfortable. My room was the cheapest, but perfect for my needs. The staff was helpful, and ready to provide me some additional equipment to enhance my comfort. Moreover, the manager also offered me opportunity to stay longer on an affordable price, if I want. Well.. the hygiene of my room was.. better after me, I think. But basically I like to set my own hygiene level anywhere I go. ;)
- Roger (10/5): Excellent stay...only let down was getting up earlier to get out of the Town Hall Car Park. - No breakfast Norhing
- Helen (4/5): Very little sleep. I won’t be rebooking. - Close to the centre. Inexpensive. Comfy bed. Clean room. Complimentary bottles of water. Shared bathroom (which I did know about beforehand). Noisy people in neighbouring rooms, coughing constantly, shouting on the corridors and playing what sounded like violent films at 4am. In addition the church bells rang loudly every 15 minutes. Sleep is not easy in this environment.

- Gareth (5/5): Ok 1 night stay. - The room was clean.
The location was great.
Free chocolate bar. The state of the shared bathroom was very dirty.
The bed was 50/50 could of done with more pillows.
Other guests arguing at very early hours of the morning.
- Chapman (1/5): SHIT HOLE DRUG DEN - Nothing it's full of drugged up people that actually live there.id of rather slept on a bench in the rain.im sure there was a few hooker's in the dump aswell.plus the church bells ring like thunder every 15 minutes as you are about 10 foot away from it.had to walk through a kitchen whilst some half dressed mong was cooking to get to my room.its Shocking to be honest. The complete experience was horrendous and the guy on the desk kept asking for fags.(Scrubber).AVOID .
- William (1/5): Don't stay here.j - The host was pleasant. Dirty. Noisy. All night. Got little sleep.
- Tom (7/5): Good - Cheap and cheerful, good location Rooms weren’t the cleanest
- Bethany (9/5): Great value for money and great hosts. - The host was so attentive, we lost power and didn’t have a mirror and they straight away fixed both issues. Bathroom very dirty, but communal so all depends on who is staying.
- Romina (8/5): Very good -
- Leanne (8/5): Very good -
- Gibbs (6/5): Pleasant - We had a lovely welcome.from the.reception man who showed us to our room it looked clean Went to hang up coats there were no coat hangers In the wardrobe and no hair dryer for three people we had one towel which we found off putting .only three coffee Saches and milks notes bags.so if we had a drink at nigth we wouldn't have one in morning no bed side ligth so had to use phone yo get to bed after putting ligth out .
- Beth (7/5): You would pay a premium for this location elsewhere. Will book again instead of the Travelodge. - Location absolutely perfect - no distance from the station and beside a stunning, ancient church (church bells were magnificent). Also close to the town square - a great place to sit, so it didn't matter that there wasn't a lounge.
Room clean and cosy with tea and coffee making facilities. Guests were warned of the shared bathroom, however it wasn't particularly clean. Toilets were okay.
Small price to pay for such a charming yet convenient location. Also great value.
- Janet (7/5): Good value for money - Nice comfortable bed . Room was clean . Nice clean sheets and towel Don't like sharing bathroom but I did know about it as I stayed there before.
- Cherunjeet (8/5): Very good -
- C (4/5): Disappointing. I wouldn't go back. - Good location for the town centre, although the very long flight of cobbled steps to reach the street if walking from the station might not suit some older folk. They were lethal to get back down in the rain with bags. Room had no mirrors. No toilet roll in the bathroom. There was a kettle and coffee but no milk. TV didn't work. Window was broken.
- Marian (2/5): More improvements - Nothing All guests using just one bathroom and toilet . Was as bad as hell.
- Bond (8/5): Very good -
- Shaun (8/5): Very good -
- Ahmed (7/5): Good place and value for money - Location The church bell was ringing almost 3-4 times per hour - was too close to the place
- Janet (8/5): Comfortable stay. - No breakfast provided but close to shops and cafes. The location was very good. No mirror in the room. Not keen on bathroom being shared. But was OK for the price.
