Guest Reviews
- Donna (7/5): - Location ideal for visiting family in the area. Property large and comfortable. En-suite bathrooms good. Dishwasher and tablets provided. On-site parking good. A small welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and sugar and possibly eggs and bread would have been a real very welcome to save having to go back out for these. Other similarly priced venues in the area have provided in the past.
- Toby (10/5): Lovely house, very simple process. - Everything was great, location was perfect to visit family in the area and the property was so much nicer in person. They have done a great job with renovating it. Maybe just a few simple things like salt/pepper etc but it's not necessary.
- Vivien (8/5): Apart from the above it was lovely. - Location, cleanliness, peaceful - very comfortable beds. The shared in and out bathroom. The locks were not placed correctly so it couldn’t be made private for whichever room was using it.
Saucepans there which could not be used on that particular hob.
- Trisha (9/5): Superb -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carmen (10/5): Large, Quiet and relaxing lodge with lots of room, parking and plenty of walks with the dogs - The house is lovely. Enormous master bedroom and great size twin room, both ensuite. The twin bathroom is large with a bath and separate large shower which all looks brand new. There is another double bedroom off the hallway which shares the bathroom with the twin room. There is also a small toilet in the foyer.
The kitchen is big, lovely and clean and seems new. The living room is huge with comfy sofas and a large TV.
You can park right outside the house on the drive, a tight squeeze through the gate though. The lock box is on the gate by the front door.
The village is very small and remote and takes a while to get to through winding narrow lanes, but the countryside is gorgeous. The village is pretty much just has a corner shop, bakery, Indian restaurant a teenager's pub (The Red lion) and a nice, small pub called the Old court house. We ventured into the village, which is 5 mins from the lodge on foot on a couple of evenings and ate at the court house one night.
You can take your dog everywhere in Devon it seems, sooooo many country walks too.
We don’t wish to leave a ‘ didn’t like’ comment because it was so lovely, but, if you are going to cook, make sure you take the essentials that you would normally find in a cupboard on holiday such as cooking oil, salt etc as there wasn’t any. There was plenty of cleaning stuff and kitchen roll but it would have been great to have had more than one tea towel.
The kitchen has a conduction hob but the large pans were not compatible which was a shame as we needed to cook a large amount of pasta but didn’t have a pan big enough in the end. It would also have been great to have had a cheese grater too.
But, these were just small things and it didn’t ruin our stay and we would highly recommend it.
- Howard (9/5): Great property, great hosts, would definitely recommend - Clean, pet friendly and safe for my pets and children. Small parking area (fits 2 cars with a squeeze) with gates so my dogs could have a wee in the night and be safe from the road. Well equipped kitchen with good appliances. Lovely decor, especially bedroom etc. Very clean and well presented bed linen. Modern rennovation, clean and accessible. Great hosts, always communicating with me. Would definitely recommend.
- Christina (7/5): Good weather and a cracking bike ride along the tarka trail. - There was an issue with collecting payment which had to be left to the owner to resolve. Booking.com made no contact with me whatsoever and the issue could have been sorted quickly, had they done so.
We had intended to eat out in the evenings but the local eateries were either closed or not serving food in the evenings. We had a takeaway from the Tandoori on the Friday which was fine.
- Kevin (10/5): Really lovely Thankyou and would highly recommend. -
- Tom (9/5): Brilliant and hope to return in 2025 - The size and presentation of the property was brilliant. The cleanliness was also outstanding and the facilities provided excellent
- Markcage (10/5): Fantastic home with EV charger - Loved the location and the spacious and well equipped home. Probably the best booking .com property we have ever stayed in. The EV charger on site was a fantastic bonus for us easy to use and reasonably priced. Couldn't find the WiFi password but host was very quick to respond to our message and it was quickly resolved.
