Guest Reviews
- Owen (8/5): Nice place, great price I’ll return again - Location, good access, quiet, clean and great price One bathroom, when fully occupied there’s a wait for the shower, minor critic only
- Mendez (7/5): Me gustó!

- Wilson (6/5): Dormitorio Privado Review - The location is great being only 10mins for the main streets it was easy enough to walk. I was a solo traveler so I had my own room upstairs with the single bed. The room was warm as there was a heater but I was able to open the windows to let some breeze in. I was only there for one night so I didnt get to use all of the facilities but it was clean and tidy plus you could lock your room. You definitely get what you pay for. I would stay again. The communication through the booking.com website was not great. I was a little worried I was not going to get check in instructions but I was sent them via WhatsApp on the day with clear instructions and pictures of how to get in from the cleaner. The shared bathroom may be annoying for some people but I didn't have any issues. The only other thing was that the main door was a bit tricky to lock from the inside, the key can get stuck but if you play around with it long enough it will come out.

- Mndncr (10/5): Absolutely Excellent Experience! - Everything Location, Staff, Room, Kitchen Access, Quietness, Bathroom, Cleanliness and to top it all off as an added bonus(that I was unaware of when booking) there was even a private roof/patio access directly from my room saving me having to walk downstairs and outside the front to have a cigarette very convenient for keeping any noise to a minimum for consideration of the other guests and staff. I even extended an extra night (I tried for eight more, but unfortunately, it was booked).
Thank you for a very pleasant experience. I will definitely be back again soon.
Alan Sheehan. Hmm, Oh Yeah having to leave :( I didn't want to..... :p

- declan (10/5): - Location great for city and very cheap.
Nice people run it.
- neil (7/5): Ok could do better - Location price Small room lack of facilities.
- Milz (2/5): Unsupportive host with lack of communication - Very bad communication with host, who does not reply to messages and not supportive. Would not recommend!

- Faith (2/5): Grim, mouldy property - The location is quite good and the area was quite quiet. When you pay for something cheap in a city you don't expect luxury, but I also was not expecting this...
Upon arrival there was no one to greet us / let us into the building even though I had kept them informed of our exact arrival time.
Another guest let us in, showed us where the keys were 'hidden' and where the toilet etc was.
There was no internet as advertised and no hot water for a shower or anything else, no until we fixed that ourselves as the boiler was right next to one of our beds. There were towels the size of tea-towels provided if you do manage to have a shower that's what you can dry yourself on.
The bathroom sink hot water tap in 'seized' shut so you can't even just have a wash either.
The place is really grim with mould everywhere in the bathroom and one of the bedrooms and not only is everything falling apart but all the kitchen cupboards are full of things to fix all the other things falling apart!
The owners don't seem to care or just don't read their messages and never replied to the problems or turned up to even try to fix any of them.
Stay away if I was you!
- Ken (8/5): Very basic, but more than acceptable if you tailor your expectations to fit a basic budget room. - I would say this place is for anyone OK with having a very simple room for a good price. It's very basic, but clean and homey. The location is quite good, there are cafes and such nearby. The place was quiet, I never ran into the other guests. Wifi didn't work. Communication with the property is minimal. Electrical outlets in my room were a bit detached, you could imagine this could be dangerous if not addressed at some point.
- Ryan (8/5): I had some trepidation about booking after reading other reviews, but glad I did. - Great location just a 15/20 minute walk from the centre. Incredibly cheap for Dublin. Comms were really good on WhatsApp for accessing the building & staff were friendly upon arrival.
Room is basic but you can't really expect any more for the price. Bed is comfortable & other guests were very respectful of the quiet hour rules.
Coffee facilities appreciated! Towel provided was just a hand towel, would suggest bringing your own.
A few hairs in room, could have been cleaner.
- Katja (1/5): Achtung! Überteuerte Backpacker-Unterkunft in gefährlicher, herunter gekommener Gegend, Finger weg!
- Nick (1/5): AVOID AVOID AVOID. - It has free wifi and hot water. The owner was completely unresponsive. I sent multiple texts and emails and called several times to ask about check-in information but did not receive an answer until the next day. I was able to figure it out on my own, which is good because I didn't hear anything from the owner until the next morning. They seemed perfectly fine with taking my money and not providing the accommodation I paid for. I would never stay here again, even if they paid me to.
Also, they need to have their bathroom inspected. It smells a bit like mold in there.
This is a comparatively minor complaint but the bed and pillow they provided are both some of the worst I've ever slept on. I woke up every day sore from sleeping on them.
- Peggy (7/5): - The staff, although Spanidh speaking, was pleasant. No response to emails and telephone calls
The address was wrong. So directions were not clear. This was very stressful.
There was no way to open the door unless the cleaning staff were in.
- Natalya (10/5): -
- Giles (7/5): - Cheap & cheerful accommodation. Maybe 2km by foot from Dublin centre. Handy shared kitchen facilities - kettle, fridge, microwave, hob & oven. Not a bad price, but could be cheaper considering shared bathroom facilities, and noise from other guests. Take earplugs.
- Ronnie (9/5): - Lovely host value for money. Can't complain
- Mary (4/5): - It was close to buses although if you were just going down to the city centre it was within walking distance. It was okay because I was only there for 2 nights and the bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels were clean There was nobody there to let me in. I hadn't been told that the keys were just tucked in the letterbox. I waited for an hour before another guest came back to his room. I didn't even know what room I was to be sleeping in..I had to guess. They could maybe think about getting a separate toilet because There was only one bathroom/toilet and if there was somebody having a shower you had to wait till they finished. The socket was hanging off the wall and there was a raised floorboard and wee black things in a drawer.
- RYAN (8/5): Good value place to stay in Dublin and good communication too. - It was exactly as described and good value for money. Very clean and great communication.
- Ronnie (9/5): - It's very rare to see any face at all of a host when arriving to a property obvs with self check in so to be greated by a lovely smiling friendly lady really made me smile also. This room was only 45 a night so I wasn't expecting 5 star but having a huge patio window and door leading out to a low semi shared large roof space was pretty impressive. The cleaning lady was super lively the next morning also as I had a big problem I had to deal with checking out and she was so understanding and friendly about. For me to have staff of a property to be helpful like this is priceless. Thank you ladies and I hope to stay again over the next while. There There wasn't any major issues but to have a bedside lamp would have been great. There was one in the closet but was missing a bulb. But this is just bit picking cos really I had no complaints
- jillkite (9/5): Great Value, Quiet and Comfortable - Great price for a private room near Dublin City Centre. Check in was easy, I contacted the WhatsApp number provided and immediately received check in instructions with photos so it was very clear. The property is only 11 mins walk from an Airport Express bus stop. There is a Tesco Express for groceries about 7 mins walk away. It was a quiet place with a comfortable bed. I had a great sleep and could prepare my own breakfast in the morning as there is a kitchen with fridge, kettle, stove, etc.
- Jeanie (3/5): Dissapointing - The bed was comfortable I did not recieve any instruction of how to acess the building.
The advert did not state shared bathroom The aguest towel was a thin hand towel.
The bath plug hole cover was full of long black hair.
The bedroom door had no lock on it.
The room was very basic
The other 3 people were very early, using the washer and dryer.
- Kiran (6/5): Basic accommodation but good location. - Good location within easy walking distance of Christchurch, Dame Street, Temple Bar. Quiet house. Comfortable bed. Room was basic but was all I needed. Check in process wasnt clear and took time. No lock on the bedroom door. Bedroom window didn't open.
- Bonas (4/5): Would not recommend - The bed was clean and comfortable First problem no instructions on unlocking and locking the front door, my room did not lock. Bathroom was basic at best and could do with some work, shower was not great. Upon leaving I realized I had left a device on the bed and reached out right away but texted 16 times and called 6 times and got no response what so ever. Booking .com did not help either as they said co tact the owner👎
- Poh (5/5): Passable -
- Julia (5/5): Don’t bother - Location was ok and was cheap.. Well you did ask.. on arriving there was no information about how to access or secure the property. Tried to call the host with no success later discovered mobile was a number in Bolivia! The photos on site did not reflect the reality. Everything was worn dirty or broken it was also not clear how many other people would be in the apartment!!! No toilet roll and 6 people in the house. My single room upstairs had no ventilation and the door lock kept getting stuck. I did not feel safe. I cannot recommend this place
- Lorraine (1/5): Avoid this place. - I emailed early on my travel day for directions by bus to the location - never got them. Mid-afternoon, while on a bus that ended up taking me far from the right area, I got an incomprehensible message about WhatsApp -which I don't have b/c I can't use it. Ultimately I had to call a taxi -and the driver had to call for directions, that's how far off the beaten path the address is - in a slum. Cig butts, dog dirt and a bag of garbage by the front door on a short alley. I wouldn't let my dog stay there. Nevertheless, I banged on the door a couple of times - no answer. I had no choice but to walk to the nearest big street and start looking for alternate accommodation, which I eventually found at a very expensive hotel (was told at the first place I tried that most places were fully booked due to a musical event that night). I tried contacting booking.com, but their first line of attack is to contact the property owner. They replied - 4 days later, with a snarky comment about the directions being perfectly clear on WhatsApp. I'm very suspicious about the picture on the booking.com page for this property - could it have been 'borrowed' from another site?
- William (1/5): I do not recommend - Location very hot, very hot room, the heating was on even though it was a hot night to make matters worse and there is no option to turn it off. I needed help regarding the room temperature and I have not received any response so far, I bought a fan on my own to be able to sleep the second night. They take hours to respond to messages when I asked where the keys would be before arriving and many times they do not respond at all
- Aguk (4/5): Don't book it. Just don't book it. - Very little to like here. The woman who gave me my room key when I arrived was Columbian and didn't speak any English so I had to communicate via my bad Spanish.
I'm disabled and had requested a room downstairs so that I could access the one and only bathroom which was downstairs. Instead I was given a room upstairs and really struggled to climb the steep rickety wooden staircase to get to my room and back down again.
Electricity socket in the room was hanging off the wall and didn't look safe to use.
Windows could not be opened, so the room felt too hot and stuffy.
Single bed was uncomfortable.
Bedroom door didn't lock very well, it required a 2-handed shove-and-lift to turn the key.
Bathroom door didn't lock properly.
No one was around in the morning to give my room key to when I checked out.
In an appalling neighbourhood, lots of fresh horse shit on the roads from passing horse and carts, felt very oppressive like I would be mugged at any moment. I've travelled extensively by myself in 28 countries around the world and this place ("the Liberties" in Dublin) felt like one of the most threatening areas I've ever stayed in.
- Connie (5/5): Passable -
- Aine (9/5): Superb -
- Sho (1/5): Bad - It was a scam.
I went to the exact adress, but there was even no sign. And I could get in any building
- Aine (9/5): Superb -
- Aine (9/5): Superb -
- Aurelian (8/5): Very good -
- Milo (10/5): Exceptional - People were very nice, it was very clean and the bed was comfortable.
Good stay imo :)
- Aine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aine (8/5): Perfect room warm and comfortable quiet area but close to everything -
- Samah (4/5): Disappointing -
- Adam (1/5): Bad -
- Joao (8/5): Very good - Location is great, very close to dublin castle, room is on the small side but t matress is super comfy, nice pillow as well. Once you have the key everything was grand, no noise, kitchen it's great, toilet it's downstairs but it was spotlessly clean. Heating worked the room was nice and cozy. I needed early check in, they don't even answer until 15.00h so absolutely no early check in. Also when I got to the place I was calling the number for 20 min before I found the door and knock on it. Check out at ten, there was really no instructions for check out so I just left and slipped the keys trough the mail opening. I think it did the trick.
- Fiona (6/5): GOOD VALUE SINGLE ROOM IN OLD DUBLIN - Other guests and the cleaning assistant were welcoming and helpful.
The bed was comfortable.
The price point was good. The heating was not adjustable and the room was a bit too warm. The heating went off about 1 am.
The shared bathroom.
The bathroom was very basic and located downstairs in a separate area adjacent to another guests room.
The house was hard to locate even with the help of a local taxi driver.
The directions gave the location as St Johns Terrace but the main house is located on St Johns Avenue which is what you need to look for or you may not find it..
Kettle water and basic facilities all downstairs in the family kitchen.
The room must be VACATED BEFORE 10AM which was not great as I was very tired from travelling.
The room would probably suit YOUNGER GUESTS better and the budget price would attract many.
- Nithyanandan (3/5): Poor - The location was quiet and yet close to city within walking distance. The host communicated the key arrangement well. The bathroom was not clean, and several items were broken, such as the shower head, towel holder. The worst was that there was no sustained hot water. Despite turning to full hot, the temperature fluctuated between hot and cold. So, during the winter days, I could not take a shower. And it was not inexpensive. So, definitely it was not good value for the money. I would not stay here again, unfortunately.
- Douglas (7/5): Comfy convenient good value friendly host - Friendly staff. Close to train station, cathedral and Guinness brewery. Friendly and helpful host. Ella habla Espanol y Ingles. Full kitchen and fridge if you want to cook your own food. Make sure you ask about how the key works. Never seen a door like that. Noisy staircase. For the single upstairs, the drapes hide a full patio window facing Eastward so it may be cold in winter and hot in summer
- Francis (8/5): Convenient location. Nice stay. - Very good location and there was parking available along the nearby road. Nice clean house. Instructions are only given on day of arrival so I was worried there might be a problem right up until the day after not getting any reply to my calls and texts.
- Eriko (6/5): Pleasant - It was hard to get into the accommodation. The instruction wasn’t clear. I had to knock the front door for a long time. It was very cold.
- Bianca (1/5): Bad - The phone number to contact the property owner doesn’t work, it’s a scam!!! The property owner never show up.
- Christopher (7/5): Would stay again - Bed was extremely comfortable, staff were friendly It was extremely cold, hard to get in contact with the property
- Luke (9/5): Superb -
- Noel (8/5): Very good - Comfortable single room and the bathroom facilities. It's a good place to stay and good value for money. Instructions were provided to locate house key which was very straight forward.
- Kieran (8/5): Very good -
- Tommaso (8/5): Quiet place at night and excellent price for the average in Dublin nowadays -
- Azhar (8/5): Very good -
