- Glen (10/5): Location was perfect for my needs. Parking available. Local bus routes, bars & food close by. - Alice was a Fantastic Host.
Location was perfect for my needs. Parking available. Local bus routes close by. Bars & Food available nearby. Would recommend and stay again when travelling to Swansea. n/a
- Tonya (3/5): The property needs to get a new comfortable bed even if they don’t want to update their bathroom. - The host was nice when she showed up but it was difficult to reach her by door, phone or message. There was street parking available. The area is safe. The bed had springs popping through it. I was very uncomfortable. The bathroom was very old and the rules limited the ability to fully use the bathroom through the night because the water closet made so much noise.
- Doshi (1/5): -
- Jim (9/5): - Lovely place, great location Nothing
- Conder (10/5): PERFICK - From the phone call to Alice to the very end
Was an absolute delight staying at Alice's home of which we was made very very very welcome .
Exceptional host with the biggest welcoming smile of which we felt very comfortable .
The house is absolutely fantastic a credit to the family ,
Tbh if want piece and quiet and a happy place with not
a tV and remote in sight (PERFECT ).
Myself and my partner will 100% be returning so thankyou to Alice and family WOW!! Zero nothing whatsoever!!!!!

- Michaela (10/5): - Alice war sehr herzlich und zuvorkommend und im Haus steckt viel Liebe. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.
- Lorelle (1/5): Complete horrible racist lady very rude, took my money and never let me stay - Absolutely in bits.
I booked this place through booking.com looked lovely in the pictures.
I called the lady to let her know I am on my way and that I will be there around 10 as I’m on the road and travelling to her. I asked if she lived at the property she rudely told me that that’s none of my business.
Why I was on the phone I stopped to grab a sandwich as I hadn’t eaten all day, a dog was barking in the station and she began to tell me that I can’t bring a dog to which I explained that’s not my dog I’m in a shop, she then told me that I should not have stopped as she wants to go to bed this was at 8:45.
I got to the property around 10pm, and knocked on the door, when she opened the door and seen me she looked at her watch and said that I was too late for my booking and that “you people are always late”.
She was so rude to me and I can only put it down to my colour. I am a black woman and I’m very aware when people do not like that.
I asked her if I could please come in as I’ve paid for my room she told me I have to go find somewhere else as she doesn’t accommodate for people like me . I asked for a refund so I could find somewhere else at such short notice and she refused to even entertain the idea of refunding me and slammed her door in my face leaving me in the dark on her doorstep with no other money to find somewhere to stay so I did end up sleeping in my car. I requested a refund on booking .com and she refused to give it to me.
She also text me to tell me she will not be refunding me as now it was late and that she would not be able to find another booking.
Completely upset and overwhelmed by how I was treated.

- Katarzyna (8/5): Pobyt był sympatyczny, właścicielka od razu odpowiadała na wiadomości, lokalizacja super, cisza wokół - Było przestrzennie, zgodnie z opisem
- Alexander (10/5): Fantastic! - Lovely large building with great views over the sea.
- Amir (8/5): -
- Peter (10/5): - Olovdem
- Gwenael (9/5): Superb -
- Johanne (5/5): Passable - Big old interesting house would look so much better if it was tidier I really hope Alice listens to the advice of making the outside steps, inside hall and bedroom less cluttered - it would have made my stay much more enjoyable
- Aron (10/5): Comfy, Home from Home - Accommodating host, Lovely guest house with lovely features and views. Easy to park, enter and leave at your own pleasure. Will happily stay again,10/10 thank you to Alice All was great, no negativity here
- Sarah (7/5): Good -
- Elspeth (1/5): Why this accommodation should not be on booking.com and should not be used - Location in Uplands, Swansea Dangerous deep outside steps with no handrail that were potentially dangerous. No secure lock to room. In my absence anyone could enter. Flimsy old bolt for security when inside. I left with possessions after one night and did not return for the second even though I lost my payment and had to pay for a room elsewhere. Antiquated plumbing system and limited provision of shared toilet paper. Owner requested that the shared, public toilet not be flushed at night. Poor hygiene. Victorian toilet. Very little hot water in rather loose hot tap to wash basin in bathroom. Shower had hot water but was very cramped. Owners insistence that a certain mat be placed a certain way to protect floor was fussy, unwelcoming, and stating the obvious in that the mat would have been used to protect the user's feet. It was not a washable mat. Poor hygiene for visitor again. Bath not plumbed in. Bullying insistence on leaving footwear in porch even though it meant I was then barefoot (unhygienic when all guests are) and risky for guest as some floors were uncarpeted. High metal carpet edges a risk when barefoot. I need a build up shoe from NHS orthotics dept but owner insisted there were no exceptions for or provision for disability. This made my stay highly anxious and I slept badly. Tree outside needs tree surgery as room is dark and damp (the bedding seemed damp) and branches bang on the window. The owner is obsessed by visitors' submission to her 'rules' but is completely careless of a visitor's real needs. I thought I was paying for secure, lockable space in which to sleep, rest, wash and go to the toilet. This was not provided. Air b and b traditionally offers informal accommodation in homes but I used booking.com and paid the price for hotel/guest house accommodation. Charges were higher than respectable, professionally run hotels in central Swansea with 24 hour staff and fresh continental breakfast.
- Becky (10/5): A very special place. Alice is a wonderful host. - Alice made me feel very welcome, and her home is wonderful. Peaceful location, but close to all amenities. Alice has thought of everything a guest might need. Beautiful and comfortable bedroom and private bathroom. A very special stay.
- Custodio (8/5): A charming house with 160 years old - The kindness of M. Alice.
The feeling of sleeping with goshes in a Castle A bit too late the check-in but there was flexiibility
- Elen (10/5): Lovely stay - The location was good for what we needed close enough to walk to the beach, and local pubs. Alice was very helpful, gave us a warm welcome and was at hand if we needed anything. We would recommend staying with Alice, and would do so again in the future. Nothing
- Govindan (10/5): Peaceful -
- Michael (10/5): Will come again. - Approachable and friendly. Excellent location for me to walk to the hospital. Uplands has really good places to eat.
- Neil (1/5): Ruined my new year doors closed - Sent on a fool's journey paid arranged turned up no one there even local residents agreed no respect for customers. Paid no one there, not told to not arrive just sent on a wasted journey
- Ian (3/5): STEER CLEAR 😜 I - could not lock our bedroom door from outside. bathroom was very dim and bath was disgusting. we left after one night as we were not at all comfortable. as we were leaving I was spoken to like a schoolboy because I had my shoes on. steer clear. the bathroom was not ensuite. all of it.
- Rhys (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wendy (2/5): Very poor -
- Del (8/5): Overall good location lovely host - No thrills no spills just a lovely lived in old house, with a wicked old school bath. Alice was an exceptional hostess - full of local information. Kettle, coffee etc, biscuits and pot porridge were great touches. Quiet location with bars and restaurants nearby. Parking was on the road but had the whole road to ourselves virtually. Didn't read the description right and thought it was one of many private en-suite rooms - although it wasn't an issue at all sharing with the hostess. Didn't read check in instructions either.
- Matthew (6/5): Nice house but needs improving - Beautiful house. House was damp and cold. Host had to be rung and door had to be banged on to be let in, after we had already had to find something to do to fill in time waiting for the host. Numerous items of clothing lying around along with mail and paperwork on the floor.
- Khalid (10/5): Exceptional - absolutely loved this place and Alice was an absolute delight very warm and welcoming will definitely be back again me and the mrs both enjoyed it ❤️ Khalid + Cassie
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious, comfortable and great locatio close to the centre of town. Host was lovely.
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Benno (10/5): Exceptional - Alice is a wonderful and kind host!
- Ken (10/5): Totally recommended! - Amazing house with loads of period features. Alice was an excellent hostess. None.
- Amanda (10/5): Amazing - Amazing period property in a very peaceful
Location within walking distance to town centre and free parking Nothing
- Colin (9/5): Superb - Alice was extremely friendly and helpful. The house is full of character. One bathroom.has a wonderful large bath the likes of which I have never seen outside a National Trust property. There is plenty of street parking and the location is great for local shops, and a walk to the city centre or beach. The experience is much more one of having a room in a large lived in home than being in a self contained apartment. I would certainly stay here again.
- Carl-magnus (8/5): Very good - Nice house and Alice was very nice and informative Everything was ok
- Heidi (10/5): Comfortable, quality accommodation - Alice was really welcoming and her home is beautiful. I liked everything.
- Casper (10/5): Exceptional - I was met by a very friendly lady who offered if we needed anything. She wasn’t shy to help us with lots of information on the nearby areas as we aren’t from Swansea. The room was clean and tidy and came with private bathroom and showers.
Couldn’t ask for anything more
- Alex (10/5): Wonderful stay in a beautiful house - Beautiful house, very clean inside, and nice and quiet, which is what I was looking for. The host was very kind and friendly and made sure I was comfortable. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to stay in Swansea. It was lovely to have biscuits and porridge in the room for breakfast.
- Keith (8/5): I was made to feel welcome, at home and safe. - The host was amazingly helpful and the bed super comfortable
- Lisa (10/5): Weekend at Westbrook - Amazing host Wonderful period House quiet location perfectly placed for walking into the town and beach, harbour. Room was comfortable and peaceful x Definitely Coming back x👍😀 Nothing to dislike at all xxx Loved it x❤️
- Bernardete (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay at Westbrook was lovely, this charming house is full of charisma and you can really experience history and individual style in its unique features. Alice was really accommodating and gave us great suggestions about the local area and spots to visit :)
- Paul (10/5): An excellent place to stay at if you are in Swansea. - The owner was very friendly, it was in a convenient location, and made some good suggestions as to what to visit.
- Jan (9/5): Alice and her Wonderland - Alice is a lovely host who welcomed us as old friends. Her house is definitely something! The room was comfortable and clean, the bathroom and toilet stylish :) The place is situated in a quite area with easy street parking. Shops and restaurants are just a short walk away. As breakfast is not included, a small fridge would be helpful, but as I said, food options are not far away.
- Lee (2/5): The home appeared unkept and untidy with shoes and clothing everywhere - No breakfast provided
Location good, parking was an issue and it was not signposted. Attitude of the owner, she was very aggressive towards us and this made us feel uncomfortable and intimidated
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cécile (8/5): Alice was expecting us with a very warm welcome, it was great! -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful period house, next to a mature park where hopefully you will hear the owl and its baby. It's very quiet with ample free parking outside.
Local to lovely shops and restaurants, only a 15 min walk to the city centre,
20 min walk to Swansea's best parks inc Botanical Garden and the seafront.
But most importantly, the main feature of Westbrook homestay is the owner, Alice, who is truly lovely and a very informative host.
We will be visiting again as we found a new friend with Alice ❤️ xx Nothing
- Just (9/5): Superb - The house is a very impressive place. It feels like a little castle. The host is super nice and friendly, with great recommendations. She made sure we had everything we needed. And made us feel like home. Everything was fine.
- Ferdinand (10/5): Exceptional - I've had a lovely stay right across from St. James' Gardens in this wonderful historic home. It was quite an interesting, comfortable and relaxing experience. The room is cozy and quiet, overlooking some trees in the direction of the park. The view from the shower looking over the bay across to Devon is spectacular! Alice was a wonderful host and I will definitely come again next time I need a place to stay in Swansea.
- K (9/5): Would I stay again? Yea definitely! - A fascinating building, quiet location and easy to park.
The owner Alison was very friendly, welcoming and eager to assist.
I felt comfortable and it was more homely than a hotel.
Not to far from Swansea city I would say a 15 minute walk or get the bus.
In the evening I wandered up the road to the local shops, restaurants and bars. Nothing to not like
- Mark (9/5): Great for a short stay alone. - Great location. Nice and quiet property, and great to have a kettle and breakfast bowls in the room.
- Susan (1/5): House and host of horrors! - Heated blanket for bed. Pillows. The place is dilapidated. Bathroom pipes are rusted and started to leak. Bedroom roof had leak marks. Carpets were smelly. The entrance area was strewn with dead flowers, dirty clothes, shoes and stuff.
At first the host was friendly, but this soon changed when she banged on the bathroom door and falsely accused me of letting the bath run over.
The host said the water leaked through the kitchen. I investigated the cause of the problem, and there is a rusted leaking pipe next to the bath. We were not happy with the state of the house and decided to leave. When we informed her that there is a pipe leaking in the bathroom, she started reacting very irrational and falsely accused us of smashing up the pipes! She shouted for me to get out of her house even though we paid for 2 nights. At that point we already intended to leave.
I wanted us to look at the leaking pipe so the matter could be resolved. The host threatened me with police, while I was in the foyer where we put shoes on. She refused that we assess the leaking pipes and this led to an altercation.
We paid for 2 nights, but staying in that house was unbearable. Our privacy was invaded, we were falsely accused and the host fabricated lies. The house is not suitable for public accommodation. What a horrible stay we had!
- Jamie (10/5): Lovely host, quiet area close to town and near to all major amenities. - Lovely location, close to town centre but far enough out that it was quiet in the nights, the host Alice was very warm and welcoming and was always happy to help with any issues I had during my stay. I would definitely stay again in the future and look forward to my next trip to Swansea. Thank you Alice.
- Tim (8/5): Suited my needs for the trip with no complaints - The building was full of endless character
- Jeff (9/5): Superb -
- Jeremy (7/5): Ideal location to explore Swansea and surrounding areas - Location was excellent for us
Host was very friendly and accommodating Curtains weren’t thick and the room was light early - blackout or thicker fitted curtains would be beneficial
Walls were thin and could hear other guests frequently
Bathroom was nice and private but not attached to the room… across the corridor and down the stairs
- Sihvola (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! Such a wonderful home, good walking distance to beach and town center, and Alice is an incredible host.
- Justin (7/5): as close as you get to harry potter in Swansear - An amazing old house- one of the oldest in Swansea- Alice was very kind.
- Elena (10/5): I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. - Beautiful house with a lot of historical features. Exceptionally welcoming hostess. Plenty of parking spaces around. Nice cafes and essential shops in walking distance. Attractive public gardens across the street. Very green area.
Spacious room. Comfortable bed.
- Delfina (10/5): unique and lovely - an unique and very welcoming experience. The house is lovely, and Alice too nothing
- Donal (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place to stay in Swansea - highly recommend overall.
Host was very kind, helpful, and accomodating.
Room was comfortable and well-equipped, as described.
Location was ideal for exploring the surrounding area.
- Matthias (8/5): Very good -
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional - Alice was incredibly friendly, and insightful. The advice provided was very useful and she helped us feel very welcome The location was perfect for our stay
- Katharine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Muchai (9/5): Good - The friendly welcome makes visitors feel at home Little
- Hafizullah (9/5): Superb -
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Location and parking was really good, property was a beautiful turn of the century property. Alice the host was very welcoming and could not do enough for you. The room had everything you need with bathroom next door.
I will definitely visit again. Nothing.
- Susan (1/5): I was locked out of the house the first night and could not access the room or my suitcase. - I was shown to my room and given a key to the front door(rooms have no locks). When I left the premises I could not remove the key from the lock. I contacted host and received no response. After 16 hours of travel I had to find something to eat. I contacted again saying I would have to leave for a few hours but no response. I received a message saying a neighbour had secured the house. When I returned the front door was locked and no key or note left for me . I contacted again and no response. I was locked out and had to find another place to stay. My suitcase was in the room. The next day I returned to get my suitcase and as I was so poorly treated I decided to not stay the second night. I asked for a refund through booking.com and received a message from Westbrook sending me an invoice for breaking the lock.
- Karolina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (10/5): It was Restful, peaceful and a home from home. - Its got an amazing vintage victorian grandeur about it, not over the top - unpretentious and charming. Alice the host - is so lovely - kind and accommodating. The location is great for Swansea town centre- walking distance easily. The uplands has great shops and cafes. I was visiting family in mumbles and Morrison so very easy. I was also reading poetry in town so how great to be round the corner from Dylan Thomas’s house! I had a peaceful and comfy stay for 4 nights - it was home from home. Thanks Alice! X
- Linsey (10/5): Lovely place to stay in Swansea - This was a lovely place to stay for my first visit to Swansea. The host was so friendly and welcoming. The room itself was very comfortable, clean and spacious. There was also tea and coffee plus refreshments in the room which was perfect after a long day's walking! The homestay is about a 15 minute walk to the centre and about a mile away from the beach, so it's a great location. I would definitely stay here again should I find myself in Swansea! N/A
- Alun (9/5): Quiet and relaxed stay in a characterful house in a great part of Swansea - The house is peaceful and quiet with loads of character. Well-located for the uni and the restaurants and shops of Uplands. Alice is a thoughtful and attentive host. For a student it would be great to have a desk in the room instead of the wardrobe. There is already plenty of storage space.
- Ewa (10/5): A true gem to stay in Swansea! - I loved everything about my stay, Alice is an amazing host and makes you feel like you’re at home. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable with plenty of snacks and amenities provided. Best place in Swansea I ever stayed!
- Arojie (9/5): Superb -
- Jeremy (10/5): A lovely old house that enhanced our stay. - The property is a beautiful old building, in a great location but still very quiet at night. Nothing.
- Michelle (10/5): Home away from home! - We had an amazing stay here. The old Victorian building was beautiful with much of its character intact. The setting was quiet even though it was near the busy area of Uplands. It was walking distance to the shopping centre.
The host was friendly and welcoming. We really felt relaxed and at home here. The room was spacious and comfy, and the separate bathrooms were large with original features.
The room had a kettle, a good selection of tea, coffee, snacks, and some porridge pots.
Perfect for a few nights It's really hard to find any negatives. The fact that this building is old and has many original features means you may not have some modern luxury.
I would have liked a fridge, but this can be noisy and could ruin the ambience of the room.
The electric shower did lack power but is not much of a big deal.
- Anonymous (10/5): Alice lovely - she goes out of her way to look after you. Fantastic host! - Charming and characterful Nothing really
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (4/5): A little disappointing - Alice, the host, was warm, welcoming and very friendly. The house is amazingly atmospheric- a Victorian Gothic mansion within easy walking distance of the city centre. However, I think the listing for this room is slightly misleading. It should clearly state the room has a separate bathroom, Although it is listed as having a private bathroom, this was across a landing and down a flight of stairs which meant getting dressed in order to use the loo in the middle of the night.
- Hugh (9/5): Superb - Friendly hostess; characterful house
- Christopher (7/5): Good - Authentic Bed not comfortable and very cold in the room
- Nikki (8/5): Very good -
- Dawn (10/5): It was perfect for our stay. - House was full of character but also clean and comfortable. Amazing bath and bathroom. Very friendly owner. Weather
- Bruce (10/5): This amazing property should be a destination in its own right. - You don't often get the opportunity to stay in an amazing historic property like this one, the experience was great. Alice is a lovely host and was even so kind as to take me to the train station because it was raining. You feel welcome, safe and comfortable. Lovely quiet house with a great atmosphere, you are staying in someone's home, not a hotel, so it has a different feel. Little mix up with the time of arrival, but the response to contact was fast and it was all sorted.
- Annabelle (4/5): Good comms, pleasant greeting, but tired establishment would preclude a return visit. - Location. Cold, not least because the bedroom window didn’t shut; place unclean and cluttered; bathroom on separate floor (not private). Refreshment tray not replenished, nor were our mugs/glasses washed. Removal of shoes indoors was an inappropriate instruction, particularly given the condition of upstairs carpets (slippers not provided).
- Timmy (8/5): Very good - Friendly, couldn't do enough for us though out our stay Nothing really was all good
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Szabina (10/5): Exceptional - Alice is a wonderful host! Lots of great recommendations for pubs, restaurants, the house super nice and tidy :)
The building will throw you back into the 18th century, lots of genuinely kept bits and pieces :)
- Ken (9/5): Superb - A very open, caring, knowledgeable and kind host.
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good - Character
- Lakhdar (10/5): A pleasant stay in Westbrook - It's a very nice house with a unique character that takes you back in time, surrounded by a beautiful mature garden. The host was very kind, pleasant and helpful. She made us feel very welcomed. We've enjoyed our stay.
- Kathy (10/5): Our host was the sweetest and made us feel right at home in her home! - Beautiful historic home and garden in a lovely area of Swansea. You can see the seaside from the shower!
