• Pat (9/5): If you don't mind steps, this is a great base location to visit Edinburgh. - We especially appreciated the little whiskey filled decanter. I would love to find one of those. I wish we could have stayed a couple of more days. We liked everything about the apartment except the steps. I have a bad knee and did not expect to have to climb so many steps - and go down them as well (even harder). Moving the luggage was also an issue. (see photo) We didn't realize the steps continued up to the castle - after walking a very long way around to get there - we could see the steps from the castle wall (see photo)

• sheila (8/5): Grassmarket apartment - cosy and clean,great location Doors needed replaced ,especially bathroom one.Skirting in bathroom too.Bottom of shower,not sure if dirty or just scabby.
• Paul (2/5): Beware late hours exit/entry - The apartment was smack bang in centre of grasmarket which was ideal. Finding some one else's blood all up front and inside drawers by bed, also having to step over used heroine needles on way in/out as in block flats and also the drug users are breaking in the communal door and sitting in stair well which wasn't nice. I ended up clearing away all there Paraphernalia, used needles, spoons, cigarette butts and a little amount of cannabis as I didn't no if there was vulnerable or children in block flats. Owners were lovely and accommodating but when I told them the above, David the owner replied he'd get on to housing management to replace front communal door (no - am I OK, u shouldn't of moved needles, or wow that was nice of you) Wasn't offered any discount nor free stay for the issues. He did tell me he's painting the full flat so that will hopefully get the blood cleaned off. Also the under LED lights in kitchen don't work, there used on pictures as a vocal point but when you arrive they don't work. I was offered cash for batteries, which didn't work BTW back but I declined. Paul
• Julie (8/5): Clean apartment with good facilities in a great location. - Fab location, great communication with the host, easy to follow instructions for key collection. Good facilities. Great base for a short stay. The bed was the property’s downfall for us. We found it incredibly uncomfortable. Kitchen crockery (mugs/glasses) could do with an upgrade.

• Storm (8/5): Wonderfully located central studio with everything you need for a few days in Edinburgh. - Very easily accessible and central The arrival directions weren’t super clear but the host was very helpful and cleared that up straight away.

• Benga Benga (10/5): Perfect stay in Edinburgh - The flat is big enough for two. The view to the castle is amazing , there is a backyard with squirrels in it. The location is just perfect. It is quiet in the night, but still in the tourist center. The bed was confortable, there are kitchen appliances (we didn't use them). The value for the money is good compared with other places. Some parts of the studio can be renovated, but this is not an issue at all. We were happy with everything.

• Sharon (8/5): A Home Away From Home. - Outstanding location at Grassmarket Square near Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile, good restaurants, tour buses, plenty of pubs and shops. Loved the complimentary chilled bottle of Brut, and the Scotch and cookies after a long flight. The light filled kitchen was fully stocked, including breakfast cereal and looking out the window was a peak a boo view of Edinburgh Castle above, and a garden area below. Our host David provided excellent directions and was available to answer questions. The common area of the apartments need cleaning and upkeep. We appreciated the large studio but the closet and cupboards were cluttered and messy. Nonetheless, we would definitely stay there again.

• Lj's (7/5): Payment worries dampened our stay. Three payment options rejected by financial institutions. - The location of this property is fantastic. A very short walk (up sets of stairs) to the Royal Mile. A good range of food choices are within the street. Supermarkets close by with some wonderful book stores in the area. While we did not meet David, our host, we felt a warm greeting from the messages and contacts we received. While the apartment is a little smaller than expected, it is cosy with all the amenities you require. Payment problems really put a dampener on our stay. I've travelled extensively using Booking.com and do not ever recall having to make payment via an external app Sum Up. Most concerning is that two Australian banks did not authorise payment to this site and put a hold on our credit cards. Then came the worries about talking to Australian banks through different time zones. Plan B was to pay via Paypal. When payment was transmitted Paypal automatically reversed the payment back to us. This was growing our concerns even more. In the end, an international bank transfer completed the transaction. Essentially, I lost a lot of money staying at this property as I had transferred Aust $ into GBP on my travel card which I could no longer use as we were leaving Great Britain the next day. With the exchange rate the way it is, this is a very unfavourable outcome. The payment issues definitely created a lot of stress for us, given that three payment options were declined (two separate banks and Paypal) and we had credit cards suspended. Naturally it grew our concerns re the legitimacy of payment options. Hours of our time were spent trying to remedy the situation. We will recognise David for remaining courteous with us and advising that payment worries, were also an anomaly for him. I could not see worries for payments in the accommodation review history.

• Samantha (9/5): Great location, has everything you need, great communication with host. - The location is great for getting to various things. Edinburgh is a land of stairs, and this is no different, so just keep that in mind. The extra little treats left for us upon arrival were a very thoughtful and nice touch. Opening the locks is counterintuitive as you have to turn the top lock clockwise to unlock it and the bottom lock is normal with a counterclockwise turn. Not an issue, but this may be useful to inform the renter of in the otherwise very well laid out instructions that were sent for accessing the room.
• Julie (7/5): Fantastic Location in Grassmarket - Ideal location for exploring Edinburgh, close to Edinburgh Castle. The view from the window of the castle was amazing. The Grassmarket area has a great vibe with live music in some of the bars. Great choice of places to eat and drink. Lovely shops and gifts. The studio is well equipped. The bed linen and towels smelt nice, clean and fresh. The host, David, goes above and beyond with free gifts for your arrival, this was very kind and unexpected. In all, our 25th wedding anniversary was very enjoyable. We did have to complain about the cleanliness of the studio. We felt it was tired and needed a deep clean. David was apologetic and said he would see to this straight away.

• Trevor (10/5): Perfectly located comfortable studio in Edinburgh. - This apartment was perfect for my needs (a visit to the Fringe) - it was extremely comfortable and well kitted out, could not have been more central, and David’s communication and availability (although I didn’t need to contact him much) was superb. Nothing really. It obviously does not have “hotel” amenities but it is a self-catering flat and David provides some welcome “goodies”.

• Ryan (9/5): Everything was perfect!!! - We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay during our long weekend in Edinburgh for the Taylor Swift concert. Location was absolutely perfect, walking distance to all of the sites, restaurants, shopping, etc, even to Murrayfield for the concert! Would definitely go back!
• Brian (8/5): Location great - Location. Information before arrival. Bed. Complimentary goodies on arrival. Odd collection of foods etc. in kitchen. Had the feel of leftovers from previous guests. And then no milk. Host did explain that when they have left milk, it gets left behind. But there are other options. Bathroom tricky and not as clean as one would expect. For this rate I would expect a bit more attention to detail.

• Linda (9/5): We enjoyed our stay in the Grassmarket area. - Comfortable and clean in the apartment; nice bedding and pillows, great shower. Great location. The outside of the building was unkept and could have been more inviting. Some of the kitchen cupboard contents needed to be thrown out. The wall heater didn’t seem to provide consistent heat when needed. We could not get the small stove like heater to work.

• Melly (10/5): What an amazing place to stay! - What a bonus! This is the perfect apartment to stay in Edinburgh. It has the comfiest bed and pillows. The location couldn't be better. Right in the midst of the tourist area over looking the castle. We walked everywhere. The apartment had everything you need. Water pressure was great, kitchen was great and fully equipped. We enjoyed the champagne and breakfast thank you. Was such a great place to stay. We highly recommend. I'd say this place is one of the best I've stayed in. Thanks you David. Leaving the bed and pillows behind.
• Lois (9/5): We were happy largely with our stay. - The apartment is in a great location. It had everything we needed. The host was kind and helpful. Only that it wasn’t as clean as I’d have hoped. Counter was sticky, there were crumbs from toaster, and a few other things . No deal breaker but less than ideal.

• Michelle (9/5): Superb - Great little studio apartment right in the centre of Edinburgh, a stone's throw away from the castle. Great location, also near to lots of fabulous cafes and restaurants. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and had everything you need for a few days stay. Communication with the owner was excellent. Definitely recommend.

Comfortable bed, hot shower and quiet studio. Welcome gift was appreciated. Would recommend to others. Nothing much. A bit of deep cleaning in kitchen cupboards needed as had to wash few bits before I cooked but in scheme of things this was minor and studio stay was fab. Would stay again.

We loved the location and also having a kitchen to make our own breakfast and a lounge to sit on. It is very close to the Royal Mile and Edinburgh castle. The apartment size is perfect for 2 people. We arrived mid morning and were able to leave our luggage in the apartment while the cleaner finished which was great. Nothing

• Anonymous (10/5): Great location for couples and singles. - Great location! Just a few minute walk to the Castle and Royal Mile and within 15 minutes of just about everything to do in Edinburgh. Clean and exactly as pictured. David was very responsive to all inquiries and even had some champagne, whisky and chocolate awaiting us in the room.
• Charles (9/5): Perfect location with a very helpful host - The location was perfect and the main reasons for our choice of this property. Everything was close to hand - very convenient. Then add to this the great helpfulness of our host and the comfort of the property, all making this a great choice! No escaping the fact that the stairs leading to and inside the property are quite challenging - if you’re travelling with international-level luggage! … but all of the benefits of the property definitely outweigh the short struggle in getting there.

This location is in the middle of so many things and yet it's quiet, comfortable and cozy. David is a very responsive host and really guided us in the best way to get there from the airport. The stairs folks mention are no big deal and actually lead right up to the castle and main streets on Edinburgh. Bottom line...Edinburgh is hilly and plan to walk hills and stairs if you visit! The location is in a residential apartment building with a cool view of the castle. It's in walking distance of a grocery store and has a great and well equipped little kitchen. Also loved the "welcome gifts"! Liked everything
