- Joyce (10/5): “Stay, enjoy, and experience the comfort and beauty of a traditional Korean hanok.” - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beautiful, authentic hanok stay in Jeonju
I’ve lived in the U.S. for over 40 years and visit Korea from time to time to see my family. On this trip, my Japanese friend from Seattle joined me—it was her very first time in Korea. I wanted her to experience something truly authentic, and staying in Jeonju Hanok Village was at the top of my list.
I chose Jahayoen Hanok Stay, and it was absolutely perfect. The hanok was originally built in 1923 and has been beautifully remodeled, so it kept all the charm while still being clean, comfortable, and modern. The owner was wonderfully attentive and personally greeted us for both check-in and check-out, which made the stay feel even more special.
The location is excellent—close to everything yet peaceful. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience a traditional Korean house with comfort and warmth. I can’t think of anything I didn’t like.
Rien.

- Felipe (10/5): The hosts are the best embassadors of Korean hospitality. - Host was super nice, the two of them were very helpful and responded instantly to my messages. They let us leave our luggage at the property even when the room was not ready. The location is calm and few steps away from all tourists attractions. Very clean and very well set. Even they had a tablet only for food delivery.
They both helped us even with a stranded taxi driver.
Only that worth the experience. They
Welcomes people warmly, affectionately, and offering hospitality and acceptance in an very polite manner.
Vielen Dank ! Es war perfekt!
- CHANAKARN (10/5): - Perfect location, the Hanokstay is located in the nice quiet lanes and close to tourist attractions and shops. The hosts are very nice and very responsive to questions. Clean nice big room with full equipped kitchen including floor heating. Would be nice to have more hooks to hang used towels.
- MIGUEL (10/5): Excepcional Hanok.
- Anna (10/5): - This house was super clean and had everything we needed- even a coffee machine and water purifier machine. Big towels were also supplied. The host met us in person. The location is great as you can walk anywhere even at night. A lot of restaurants in walking distance. 3 airconditioners made sure we were cool in the hot weather. We also slept well as the house was quiet. Thank you for the complimentary toothbrushes and toothpaste as well as soap, shampoo and conditioner in both bathrooms. We can really recommend this traditional experience. These are just guidelines for fellow travellers. If you come by car, make sure your car is not too big as driving in this village is a challenge! Narrow roads and cars parked everywhere. Bring some mosquito repellant as well.
- Sally (10/5): Perfect traditional Hanok stay - Beautiful Hanok in Jeonju. The host was really lovely and helpful, and left us traditional snacks, and everything was provided for us. The property is two buildings for separate bookings but we barely noticed or heard the family in the other building so it did not impact our stay at all. Secure behind a coded gate and felt very safe. The shower was great 👍
- John (9/5): Great spot in a great little village - Clean as described, great location
- Diane (10/5): A must stay in Jeonju - Location is superb. Beautiful accommodation and garden. Super helpful and kind host.
Ras
- Lizanne (10/5): Peaceful, homely base for exploring Jeonju - The property is immaculate, well designed and maintained. It is well located on the edge of the hanok village in a quiet side street within easy walking distance of all key visitor attractions. The garden is an oasis of calm with many butterflies visiting during our stay.
The host JiHoon met us on arrival and showed us how to use the door key pad and was very helpful.
JiHoon provided a tourist map marked up with restaurant recommendations and other useful services. The nearest convenience store (GS25) over the bridge is limited in what it offers. There is a larger supermarket further up the street on the right hand side of the street (OK?) which sells fresh fruit and vegetables. There are limited cooking facilities in the hanok (microwave, toaster and kettle only), but you can buy breakfast supplies like bread, butter, fresh eggs, jam and cereals at this store. We loved the bean-to-coffee machine in the hanok and ate breakfast in the hanok each day watching the butterflies in the garden. Limited utensils, cutlery and plates in the kitchen for eg preparing breakfast and salads. However, the equipment which is provided is of a good standard and well maintained.
- Alessia (10/5): Struttura bellissima! Consigliatissimo! - La struttura è molto bella e caratteristica, tenuta veramente bene. I gestori veramente accoglienti e carini.
- CristinaLM (10/5): Wonderful stay in a peaceful house - I loved this place - I wish I could stay longer! It's in the perfect spot of Jeonju, in the hanok village area but close to the river and the hill. The garden is just beautiful and the space is fantastic! The bed is incredibly comfortable and the neighbourhood is so quiet at night. Highly recommend! I personally disliked the tablet on the table to order food to the room, you cannot really turn it off and it's a bit annoying. There could be some tea in the room too. Other that these minor things, really a wonderful stay!
- catherine (10/5): Wonderful stay in a beautiful Hanok. Highly recommended. - Wonderful Hanok in a peaceful area of Jeonju with its own delightful garden. Newly renovated with great care, creating a calm and beautiful space - everything spotlessly clean.
The owners are very lovely and kind, and gave help on what to see, where to eat and onward travel. Nothing!
- Birgit (9/5): -
- Henri (9/5): -
- Roberto (10/5): - Stanza stupenda, grande e tipica. Giardino esterno curatissimo. Tutto vicino a piedi. Proprietario gentilissimo e disponibile, parla anche inglese, cosa rara in Korea. Nulla, tutto perfetto.
- Angela (10/5): Beautiful authentic stay in Hanok Village - The gardens were beautiful and it was great to have two separate bathrooms and bedrooms. A nice break when traveling with others. They had a water purifier with hot and cold water. It felt very authentic. The owners were very nice and helpful and it was great to be able to drop luggage early. Owner also helped us get a taxi in the AM.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kyungji (10/5): Exceptional -
- Primoz (10/5): Best stay of our trip - We loved it! Amazing place and location and an even more amazing host! If it's available, just book it!
- Lih (10/5): Exceptional - The owners were very thoughtful, quick in response, and accommodating. They messaged the address in korean, so flagging down cabs were no problem. Also, a map with interesting and essential information about nearby places was prepared. The place is very bright at night due to street lamps and the clock above the front door. If staying longer, a washer dryer would be most welcome.
- Carolina (10/5): Exceptional - This was my favourite stay in Korea! The place is lovely, quite, clean and homely! I highly recommend staying at this proprety if you want to have the perfect Hanok experience. The host is super helpful and easy to communicate with!
- Marjolijn (10/5): Exceptional - The location is beautiful, the garden is amazing, the Hanok itself is stylish, clean, has water, tea, you can even order in. The owners are so so sweet and helpful. I really highly recommend this place!
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional - The hanok was a lovely mix of traditional and modern. The garden was lovely and the place very spacious. The area was quiet with nice boutique shops, and very close the the main street.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. This is our 5th trip to Korea and this is the best accommodation we've stayed at. So peaceful and close to all the attractions. The hosts are fantastic and helpful. There was nothing to dislike.
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional - Cozy, clean and convenient none
- Jenny (8/5): Host is friendly n helpful n make sure we r able to find the house. She also direct us to the car park behind. - Clean n well kept. Nice interior. One of the rooms is so small! Could hardly put my luggage with walking space. Could b better if washing machine with dryer is provided.
- Linda (9/5): Lovely Hanok sta - Really cute Hanok. The room was cozy and pretty. Also the garden super cute. The host was friendly and kind. We loved the ability to make our own breakfast in the morning. Unpleasant smell from the bathroom/ shower drain :(
- Autumn (10/5): Brilliant stay in an incredibly traditional hanok - Fantastic location in Jeonju hanok village. Our host wast brilliant from the moment we arrived, he willingly accepted our bags earlier than check in and provided incredibly useful local knowledge in terms of restaurants and attractions. The hanok was beautifully clean with all of the amenities you could require. A truly lovely stay.
- Noronha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tamara (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely location and design. Easy order-in for food. Missing cutlery for eating at home.
- Joan (9/5): Would definitely come back again - It was very spacious and comfortable. We loved the water dispenser in the property. Made it so convenient for us. The bathroom was a bit too squeezy
- Kathy (10/5): Beautiful Hanok with friendly owner - Beautifully designed, nicely equipped olace. Kind owner. Parking is a plus.
- Chua (10/5): Enjoyable! - Awesome and clean environment located in the Hanok village. Hosts were very helpful and friendly! Nil
- Jennifer (10/5): Highly recommend! - It’s super cute and clean! The hosts were super communicative and helpful, even helped us with our luggages and booking a taxi at the end of our stay. All other hanok village festivities were also only a short walk away.
- Christopher (7/5): Good -
- Anna (10/5): Stunning - Superb new renovations that conserved the historical house and with all mod cons like wifi, food ordering screen, coffee machine, underfloor heating. Perfect location for exploring the hanok village. Could have had more cutlery, crockery, tea towels and cleaning cloths
- Beatrice (10/5): Excellent host and wonderful stay, would definitely stay there again when I visit Jeonju! - The host was very warm and helpful. He was very thoughtful throughout our stay. We couldn’t speak Korean and initially had difficulty with the taxi driver to find the place and the host contacted the taxi driver to guide him to the place.
At the end of our stay, we deposited our luggage at the place and the host even waited with us for our taxi to ensure we are on our correct way.
The house is very clean and neat with free amenities. Floor was heated so sleeping on the futon bed was also nice experience. Nothing
- Dirk (9/5): Great Hanok Stay in Beautiful Jeonju - A beautifully restored traditional Korean house in a wonderful area at the edge of Jeonju's hanok village. Perfectly located and walking distance to everything. Full kitchen, great coffee machine, beautiful courtyard (OK just "nice" in December), and great wifi. We loved it and we are shocked by how much Jeonju has come into itself since our last visit in 2010. The owner sent perfect self-check-in instructions and left a great annotated map. Two beautifully outfitted bathrooms. The traditional mattresses in the second bedroom were a bit thin for the hard floor. I realize that this might be traditional, but it just makes me feel bad for Koreans living "traditionally" a century plus ago. The underfloor heating (modern andol) does work perfectly.
- Tanya (10/5): Cozy and modern hanok experience in Jeonju - This was the best place I’ve stayed in Korea so far. Jihoon and his wife made the hanok experience so easy and comfortable from start to end. They were very welcoming of us, and allowed us to store our luggages before the checkin time. He carefully explained how to use the appliances in the hanok, and even ensured we got on the right taxi as we were leaving. Highly recommend if you want a modern, yet cozy and relaxing hanok experience!
- Larissa (9/5): Superb -
- Hugo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bt (10/5): fabulous - The coffee machine with coffee beans was a bonus. The tablet with app to order in food was fabulous especially on rainy days. It was a very pretty and comfortable home to stay in. Host was also very helpful.
- Huynh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Min (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daphne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Florian (10/5): Great place and stay in Jeonju - will come again! - Great place in
- Tanita (9/5): Amazing and comfortable experience for us. Highly recommend for families. - This place is located in Hanok Village, but also on the quiet side, so it is not loud. Very convenient. The property is very beautiful—Korean style stay with modern interior. Bathrooms are clean. We were family of 6 (5 adults and 1 toddler). Perfect for us. The bed in the room is a bit small for two people to be extremely comfortable, but it’s not a big problem since the room with the floor mattresses are big and can fit 3-4 people.
- Pablo (10/5): Incredible house - Very beautiful and perfect location. The owner very helpful Nothing
- Soo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vincent (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grace (10/5): Exceptional - The host is responsive and very helpful. The house is beautiful and clean, and situated at the edge of the Hanok Village. The towels were very thin and small.
- Jaime (10/5): Lovely stay, wish we had more time there. - Tranquil setting, garden was lovely, house was very clean. The owners were fabulous…arranged for our 3AM taxi to the bus station and came to the house at that early hour to make sure our departure went as planned. This was key, as scheduling taxis in Jeonju is difficult. While there are two bedrooms, there is one western style bed. Second bedroom had sleeping mats, so friend ended up on the sofa. Not a deal breaker for us, but it was a surprise.
- Inês (10/5): Amazing!! - Super fast to reply and really helpful! They even book us a taxi and let us leave our bags after the check out! Incredible house, clean and very spacious, we really loved our stay! Everything was amazing
- Manuel (10/5): One of the highlight of our trip to South Korea. - The owner was very welcoming, gave us the keys in hand and explained everything about his hanok. The hanok was situated in the hanok village in a very quiet alley. The children loved the garden. The atmosphere and the peace in the surroundings is unforgettable.
- Surada (10/5): I really love this place🥰 - Beautiful & good vibes Hanok house.
Good location.
Very nice host & easily check in.
You can’t miss this place if you stay in Jeonju.
Ps. The host gave me a good advice for sightseeing around the village and recommended the renting hanok style costume shop with discount prices. I have a good time wandering around this place in hanok costume.
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maressa (10/5): AMAZING stay in a modern hanok with the perfect location! - We wanted to stay within the village in a traditional building, and got exactly what we wanted. This hanok is fitted with all the modernities of living, while keeping the integrity of the historic site and building. We travelled in a group of 9, so 2 adults and 2 young children got 1 room, while 1 couple had the other in the main house, and 2 adults stayed in the attached annex, with 1 more adult sleeping on the sofa/futon in the annex living room.
The place was impressively clean, and the overall experience of the place was amazing. There was parking right behind the building, and 2 lots in front of the gate.
We also thoroughly enjoyed the verandah and garden attached.
We were literally located behind shops and cafes, and enjoyed the restaurants nearby.
The host also made his way down to greet us, despite us arriving late into the night due to the long drive we did. When I sent a message to the host to ask about the TV remote and the air conditioner remote control (as one of the rooms did not have any other forms of ventilation), they almost immediately came in and provided us with all we needed. I would suggest providing a small moveable stair for the main house, as it can get a little bit difficult to climb if you've weak legs or injuries. Also a small area/shelf for shoes, as the dried grass go everywhere in the house when we entered.
- Effendy (9/5): All is good - Very simple but very good. Good idea to keep it simple clean and delicious👍🙏 All is good
- Cristina (10/5): Cozy, authentic, clean - absolutely recommended!!! - Stylish and cozy apartment in a quiet area of the city. Super nice host; we had an early check-in, and he helped us with our taxi reservation. Absolutely recommended!!!! Nothing, everything was perfect!
- Olivier (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect from start to finish!
Thanks again for the help to our questions 🤗
- Dowon (10/5): Amazing - Easy to get anywhere from the place. Easy check in. Quick communication with the host when needed. Clean and pretty. Ondol (heated floor) plus AC both available, that is a huge upside. Parking is a bit tricky but thats the whole old-town thing.
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Very nice Hanok, very well located and very quiet. Nice garden.
- Rafał (10/5): Perfect location. Newly renivated and spacious house. - Perfect location. Very spacious, clean and newly renovated house. Helpful owner shower us nice Restaurants in town. Was very helpful.
