Guest Reviews
- Michael (9/5): - The set up of the toom Very poor phone reception
- hall (7/5): - Good breakfast. Anything else.
- tom (10/5): - Staff provided everything without us having to ask (including high chair and cot). They were very friendly and welcoming on arrival.
- Sean (6/5): Lovely place , just sadly not worth what we paid - Location was great and staff were attentive and friendly Rooms were very bare and basic for the money , the breakfast could have been so much better. It was cold.
- Kirsten (9/5): A beautiful house, delicious food and the prettiest of location. Wonderful staff. - Such a warm welcome when I arrived and was shown to my room ( & offered to have my bags carried up) The 'light bites' menu was great and it was lovely to sit outside in the sunshine to enjoy the nachos that I ordered ( delicious!!) Really comfortable bed ( I was out like a light) and breakfast the next morning was great. Will definitley stay again! The wifi was a bit intermittent which was a little frustrating but not the end of the world at all!
- John (3/5): - Excellent breakfast. Clean. Room design was useless (room 14 in courtyard ) Insufficient space to put phone, clothes and bathroom essentials. Musty smelling wardrobe with only two hangers. No internet access. Poor road access. Had to keep curtains closed as people could see in from the courtyard .
- Natalie (10/5): Would definitely come again - A wonderful stay The food was amazing and good value
- Trevor (10/5): Excellent! - Very friendly and helpful staff. Great building in a lovely quiet location, nice clean room, and comfortable bed. I skipped breakfast but there was a snack menu in the evening which was excellent.
- Roy (6/5): Staff pleasant. If issues above were sorted? It could move up in the Standard ratings. - Location. No hot water in the shower at 0600 a.m.
Room very Hot - No Fan provided.
Arrived early evening, no food available.
- The Dutchess (10/5): Great place to stay. Beautiful surroundings. Lovely staff. - Staff were lovely, they professional a d interested. Nothing was too much effort.
- Peter (6/5): Lovely location and building avoid cheapest room. - Location was excellent in the middle of a large garden, woodland.
Breakfast was excellent
Lounge very comfortable Our room was poor in several respects. Access was down steep stairs with no hand rail. Bathroom door did not close properly. Only one bedside light, huge tv but only one nursery chair. Kettle lead was ridiculously short.
However we recognize we did not mention walking disability and it was substantial cheaper than other rooms, so happy to take part of the fault. The staff were very willing to rectify faults but i doubt they would give new room.
- Karen (7/5): Comfortable stay, good breakfast, quiet environment, very accommodating staff - Very friendly accommodating staff.
- Niki Kelleher (8/5): - Staff went above and beyond to supply our engineer with a breakfast despite him leaving earlier than breakfast sitting.
- Ingrid (9/5): Very friendly staff, very clean and well appointed - Quiet location and nice rooms N/a
- Colin (8/5): An excellent overnight rest during a weekend of travels. - Although we arrived late in the evening, it was easy to park and we had a friendly welcome at the reception desk. After a day including a lot of travel, and with more travel to come the next day, we needed a good night's rest. Happily our bed and bedding was of high quality and a generous size, so we slept really well. At breakfast we appreciated the buffet including fresh fruit, yoghurts and granola along with some of the more usual options. The hotel is very pleasantly situated, and we enjoyed a short walk around the grounds before we set off. Although the shower cublcle in our en-suite bathroom was a good size, and the shower worked well, the bathroom as whole was rather cramped. Although we enjoyed the food at breakfast, the drinks served with it were less enjoyable --- I think the coffee had been left to brew for too long, and the orange-based drink was somewhat removed from pure orange juice.
- Alison (7/5): - Beautiful room, with gorgeous windows and comfortable bed, friendly greeting from the young man at check in Paper thin walls, could hear the conversation of next doors couple, shower squirts over the shower screen and soaks the toilet paper. Breakfast average
- david (8/5): -
- Colin (9/5): - Well satisfied
- Pamela (10/5): Stunning venue, great staff and an excellent tapas event. - Amazing venue set in stunning grounds. Staff were so welcoming and helpful. Great tapas evening event on Saturday, food and wine were excellent. Such a restful stay, a real treat.
- John (9/5): Lovely place to stay with a friendly welcoming feel - The staff and grounds were lovely and the room was a really ggod size. We felt very well looked after and everyone was very helpful and friendly The camp beds for the children were not very comfortable
- Daniel (9/5): -
- Guest (10/5): Absolutely lovely - Absolutely lovely place and the staff are so kind, not used to traveling alone and nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful surroundings and very well kept. Would deffo be staying there again. The fact that I was only staying for 1 day, if I could have got time of work would have stayed longer.
- Penny (8/5): -
- anna (6/5): - Very good breakfast The shower initially did not run hot water, but the member of staff on duty both days (think the young man was called Kyle) was quick to sort out a plumber.
It was also very stuffy in the room on arrival and Kyle quickly sorted a fan.
- Chris (10/5): -
- geta (10/5): - Beautiful surroundings. Staff were very welcoming.
- sarosh (8/5): - Staff are lovely, property is gorgeous and great location too Only one socket was working in the room which was behind the TV so was quite a hassle to get too
- Eva (7/5): The room was no very nice, very small and basic. - We did like the groung and the location, is lovely building. The room was very small, and the bathroom didn't have anyplace to keep our toiletries. The pictures shown on Booking.com didn't match our room. I think my break was shadowed by the room, not very nice.
- Lee (10/5): Absolutely beautiful, staff were amazing, will definitely be back - Beautiful property set in idyllic grounds Nothing
- Guest (8/5): -
- Sophie (9/5): -
- Shelagh (10/5): Fabulous! - The location was excellent … and the breakfast was fantastic! Appreciate vegetarian options!
- Alison (10/5): Very pleasant, comfortable stay - We had a pleasant stay. The staff were excellent. Room was very comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic.
- Edward (10/5): Great stay and will definitrely book again. - Location was picturesque and convenient for the evening venue attended nearby. The cooked breakfast and service were excellent. No food available in the afternoon or evening but managed to have food delivered to hotel from loacl takeaway.
- Graz (8/5): - We liked the location and how quiet it was. The place has nice character and staff was very helpful There was nothing to dislike during our stay
- melanie (10/5): Lovely staff, breakfast was hot fresh and cooked really lovely …will definitely go back - Lovely location ,quiet and beautiful surroundings Nothing
- Claire (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay! The house is full of character, impeccably clean, and set in beautifully maintained grounds—a perfect setting for relaxing walks or lounging outdoors.
We spent a delightful evening playing Scrabble and enjoying a nice bottle of wine on the terrace—such a charming, peaceful spot!
A big thank you to the young gentleman behind reception—he was incredibly friendly, helpful, and made us feel so welcome.
Our room was bright, spacious, spotlessly clean, and offered spectacular views across the gardens—just what we needed for a restful break.
In short: characterful, comfortable, serene, and supported by warm, attentive service. We highly recommend Chelsea Parkfields for a relaxing escape in Ross‑on‑Wye!
- Narges (9/5): - Great location, cozy place and very helpful staff. We had a wonderful stay.
- Walkers (8/5): Enjoyable stay, and good VFM considering it included breakfast. would recommend and stay again. - Staff were friendly and helpful, place was very clean, nice big room hot powerful shower. Nice surroundings bar available with good selection but no draught beers. Breakfast was good but the dining area was a bit small we were okay but noticed that some people had to wait for tables. Bit secluded and off the beaten track which had both positives and negatives. Couldn't really have done anything better but the location was a bit secluded and the drive down the road to the hotel was narrow and a bit precarious with the tractors.
- Robinson (9/5): - Beautiful location, staff were very friendly and courteous.
- Milly (10/5): -
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional stay - Staff, parking, location and everything in between was incredible.
Breakfast was more than you can ask for and always fresh / topped up
Above expectation. It was tricky to find a spare plug socket in the room but I can't fault it otherwise really.
- Helen (4/5): All in all not a great stay - The house and setting grounds where lovely it was a real shame about the rest Staff could of been more attentive Waitress was pretty uncommunicative compared to other places we stayed
Cooked breakfast was ok buffet but would of been better if served No choice given of eggs and tea was awful tasted as though the water had repeatedly been boiled and only warm undrinkable
We booked standard room bed was comfortable but small so would not recommend this room
En-suite facilities where clean but size of a cupboard Sink was too small and cramped when using the toilet You could not wash your teeth easily without hitting your head on shelve when leaning to rinse your mouth
On the first night it was like daylight in our room with all the garden lights on Second night these where turned off
Our room I think must of been over reception/kitchen as it was impossible to rest in the afternoon due to loud talking of staff and woken in the early in the morning from the loudness (pre 7am ) of the staff chatter
- Deb (10/5): Beautiful and enchanting - Everything.
This was the most beautiful place to stay.
The rooms were divine. There wasn't anything not to like.
The staff were lovely. The rooms were beautiful.
The area in which the building sits is exquisite , its perfect for a wedding
- Allys Carpenter (8/5): -
- James (7/5): - Would have liked fried eggs with breakfast
- michael (8/5): a birthday treat - breakfast was very good with a varied selection.Staff were very helpful nothing was to much trouble. a little difficult to find after returning from ross mentioned this to owner Amy and she said that this was something they were looking in to.
- Deborah (9/5): Very enjoyable stay in a beautiful room - Breakfast buffet was lovely, very nice grounds to walk around or sit outside and have a drink.
Bed was very comfortable & the room was large and very nicely decorated. It was a little further away from Ross than we expected, 4.4 miles on sat nav
- Alun (7/5): Very pleasant - Staff were great. Place was very peaceful, clean pleasant. Need to sort out the problem with sat nav not recognising the property.
Could have done with another bedside table.
- Paul (7/5): -
- Richard (10/5): A relaxing and enjoyable two day treat. - The character and age of the building which was tastefully restored, decorated and maintained The staff were allvery helpful and pleasant. Nothing
- BRANDON (3/5): Looks good via the webpage but don’t be deceived - The look of the outside of the property and room was big Only 1 pillow each, the noise from rooms adjacent and above ., as well as the plumbing .
Breakfast was cold with plates not hot at all.
No beer on tap no food at all in the evening .
No air con rooms
- Helen (10/5): - Lovely hotel and staff
- Brian (8/5): Hotel manager, Amy, went above and beyond her duty to help us find places to dine. - Breakfast was excellent The hotel is in a beautiful country estate but getting around proved to be difficult as the Sat Nav. used very small lanes that passing the heavy farm traffic was difficult.
- Martin (10/5): -
- Julie (9/5): -
- Julie (9/5): - Welcoming staff, comfortable room and excellent breakfast.
- Alex (10/5): The most perfect place to stay, relax, and wave your woes away. - What a perfect place to stay, welcoming friendly staff, very clean and tidy up to military standards. The breakfast was perfect. I would stay back here in a heartbeat. Love it. If I had to be nit picky maybe a fan in the room would be nice it was warm but that’s because it was roasting outside.
