Guest Reviews
- Gianfranco (9/5): -
- EMYR (7/5): Way too expensive for room with known plumbing issues. - Food was good…
Staff friendly. We stayed here for one night, and it was quite an expensive experience that unfortunately fell short of our expectations.
On the positive side staff were friendly.
And the food was very good.
However there were several noticeable issues, the hotel is currently undergoing construction which didn’t really impact us but we did have a second choice hotel and had we known would have gone with that, cleanliness should have been better to reflect the price.
The biggest disappointment was our room, the morning of our departure the shower flooded the bathroom, it became apparent that the staff already knew about this instead of proactively giving us a different room beforehand they only offered to move us after we encountered the flood, by then my husband couldn’t be bothered to move rooms to have a shower we were leaving early after breakfast. For the price we paid I expected far better, we were instead offered a travel cup and the box of sweets from the room in hindsight they should have offered a partial refund and we probably should have demanded one because selling a room with a known defective shower is completely unacceptable.
It would have been the hotel’s responsibility to proactively offer some money back for a known broken room not the guest’s job to kick up a fuss.

- Wendy (10/5): Elegance in the country. - The hotel is beautiful with attention to detail and design. We wish we had more than one night to explore the property.
- Lynn (10/5): Very comfy hotel with excellent service - Everything !!
Spotless ,beautiful rooms with very comfy beds
Cozy lounges to relax in
- Simon (9/5): - All the food provided was excellent and the in room facilitates were great. We really enjoyed spending time in the lounges in the evening and the service was always first rate. There was some noise in the room from the fridge and other sources.
- kathelijne (10/5): Geweldig!! - Erg leuk personeel en hele mooie locatie
- Linda (9/5): Underbart hotell, åker mer än gärna tillbaka! - Så snyggt och mysigt. Underbar atmosfär. God mat. Superfint rum men lite dåligt städat.
- Clement (9/5): Fantastisch - Super locatie
- Stuart (10/5): A very lovely time away - All very good
Staff particularly first class

- freya (7/5): Would recommend if your looking for a countryside hotel with stunning views - So clean, amazing staff, homely feel. Adorable baby lambs ! The beds and pillows are too soft , some people may like that but really struggled to sleep!
- Leonardo (10/5): -
- Martin (5/5): A beautiful location. Stay spoiled by poor management engagement with real custoner grievance - The location is lovely and the daily staff are all very charming. Food at breakfast is very good. The property was listed by the UK Times newspaper in March 2026 as one of best 50 places to stay in in UK in 2026 which is why we booked for four nights. When we arrived, we were shocked to find that there was significant construction of a new hotel function space being undertaken which could be seen prominently at the rear of the hotel spoiling the country side view. We were allocated a room on the ground floor of the annexe with our window looking out directly over the entrance to the construction site, which was quite frankly unbelievable. The staff relocated us the following day to a room in the Manor house which we were told was an upgrade, but in fact was, in our opinion, a downgrade; it was a smaller room with the view from the window blocked by the blind which only opened halfway. The shower was over a raised bath (compared to a walk-in shower previously). There was no functional drawer space in the room which meant that we had to keep our underwear in our suitcases.
We asked three times over as many days to talk with the manager to no avail, so on the third morning of our stay we approached the owner and manager directly who were visiting the hotel. The response was that our confirmation email when booking the room should have the information about the impending construction project and this was also mentioned on the website. As far as we can ascertain both these statements were simply untrue. We did receive some financial compensation in the form of a free dinner and £50 discount but this was offerred only on the morning before we completed our four night stay and after we made the direct approach. We explained that compenstion was only part of the story-our main issues was the lack of transparency regarding the current condition of the hotel site and the lack of engagement by management with a very legitimate customer grievance.
- Danielle (10/5): Can’t wait to return! - Hyll is a gorgeous property in a peaceful and convenient location. You feel like you’re Aya friends home with how comfortable everything is, all the details and an incredibly friendly and helpful staff who kept going above and beyond! Thank you for a perfect stay!
- Monica (10/5): Peccato essermi fermata solo una notte!!! - Tutto :camere pulite dotate di ogni comfort, colazione ottima, posizione con vista meravigliosa.
- Jordi (10/5): -
- NICK (10/5): Unbelievable - It was amazing. Everything was perfect
- Davide (10/5): - L’accoglienza impeccabile
La struttura elegante e arredata con stile
Ottimo ristorante e colazione eccellente
Le camere con tutti i migliori comfort e molto spaziose
- Pascale (7/5): Nice but partly under construction - Beautiful hotel in the Cotswold. Nice staff, cute details and interiors. The location is beautiful and the food was great. Part of the hotel was still under construction and we felt that for the price we paid this was not really correct. My room was lovely but the renovation is done a bit on the cost saving side and one can feel that.
- Michaela (10/5): A beautiful night stay here, would recommend to anyone coming to the Cotswolds - Gorgeous hotel, loved the aesthetic and the decor, rooms were very spacious and the bed was so comfortable. A gym on site would be great
- Stuart (10/5): A cosy, intimate and luxury stay in the heart of the Cotswolds with fantastic food and stylish rooms - Loved everything from the setting, the food, the room and the overall experience from check-in to check-out. It was my partner and I's first time visiting the Cotswolds and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The room was gorgeous (loved the decor), the setting inside the old manor/cottage was impeccable and the food for dinner and breakfast was top class. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the Cotswolds. I would have loved a gym to get a quick workout in or a little pool/spa to relax after a long day of driving but it wasn't the end of the world.
- Jamie (8/5): -
- Kerry (8/5): It was delightful - It was just delightful.
Beautifully designed property.
Wonderful food.
Beautiful location.
- Hewis (10/5): A unique relaxing stay in magical surroudnings. - The vibes are perfect, so chill and all the interiors beautifully designed. Open fires were such a unique charm. Breakfast was delicious and hearty. Gorgeous surroundings and beautiful cocktails. There was light construction work going on which was not too disruptive but just something to note.
- Healy (8/5): - Great location if you’re travelling around the cotswolds, friendly staff , very comfortable room & great breakfast selection No air con in rooms & have to use whatsapp to order room service which took a long time to get a reply
- Alice (9/5): A special relaxing stay in The Cotswolds - Beautiful hotel. A very relaxed atmosphere, nice attention to detail with the refurb. The room was a little hot and noise travelled easily from other rooms.
- Megan (8/5): - The hotel was beautiful, great location & very clean. The perfect place to switch off! Some staff seemed to be very new / inexperienced
- Ester (10/5): -
- Alexandra (10/5): -
- Roger (10/5): Great little haven - Lovely location and fantastic staff, really looked after us
- Chris (8/5): -
- Sophie (9/5): Beautiful country house stay - Gorgeous traditional Cotswolds style hotel but loved the modern interior. Home from home feel with lots of lounges to make yourself at home in. Really friendly staff especially at reception and in the lounges The service in the restaurant was a little slow but otherwise no issues
- Kylie (9/5): -
- Yazmin (10/5): -
- Joshua (9/5): -
- Andy (10/5): Absolutely stunning . Staff first class , a gem of a hotel , staffed superbly . - Beautiful location . First class in every aspect. Nothing.
- Victor (10/5): Just Book it - The Staff and the Hotel a mix between old and contemporary Everything
- Dallas (10/5): -
- mark (9/5): Overall a great stay. Would love to go in the summer months so will start saving😊 - My only concern was the door closure chains on the bedroom doors which caused the door to slam shut with a loud bang.
- Alexia (10/5): -
- Heather (9/5): Lovely hotel and staff, a lot of improvements have been made some good some require reviewing. - Setting The colour of the room and lighting
- Judith (10/5): Welcoming cosy and comfortable the best pillows ever and friendly professional staff a thoroughly enjoyable stay THANKYO - Cosy comfortable stylish Nothing

- Grant (10/5): -
- Ellie (9/5): -
- Karen (8/5): Lovely cosy hotel - We loved the sitting areas with the log fires and games and books . The restaurant food was good . Beautiful view across the fields The room could have been better designed . The tv was quite small and the sofa was at an angle so you couldn’t watch the tv whilst sitting on it . The sofa would have been better up against the bed . Also we could hear next door talking and their tv .
- Ben (8/5): Great - Quirky, clean and cosy Pictures online showed swimming pool. That wasn’t there.
- Laura (8/5): -
- Joanne (8/5): Beautiful new hotel - Lovely renovation of this property to create Hyll. I'd booked a Deluxe double and the room size was great. Bathroom very nice and good shower. Comfy bed and very well stocked mini-bar and snacks available. We ate dinner at the hotel and food was wonderful. It was fairly quiet as mid-week in February but a cosy spot. Some building work going on at the time, wasn't disruptive or noisy but more an eye sore. Shame there is no spa, no gym at the property too.
- Stuart (9/5): It was excellent. - It was so nice. Nothing
- Mark (6/5): As regular visitors to the area, Hyll House will definatly be on our short list of places to stay:) - Room Fab!
Breakfast and dinner were amazing in terms of food and staff service!!
Outside space looked enticing but given the rain we were faced on arrival will have to wait until next time A few water leaks coming through the ceiling from a room above into the main reception space was a little disappointing + the men's toilet urinals were leaking all over the floor which was somewhat undesirable...
Will be good to see the place once the renovation works are completed (we stayed in Room 12 which was next to the current building site.
- Walsh (10/5): - Everything
- Emma (10/5): If you are after a chilled vibe and amazing in food you will be at home at the Hyll - Delicious dinner at the Hyll, our standard room was ultra comfy and we enjoyed the complimentary homemade shortbread biscuits. Lighting in the room and throughout hotel sets a chilled vibe. Snacks in room very overpriced.
- Joseph (10/5): 10/10 from start to finish - Exceeded expectations. Breakfast was delicious and great variety. Fantastic cocktails and amazing service. We will be visiting again.
- David (3/5): - Room was lovely Building work going on and materials and mess were everywhere making it impossible to relax as planned
- Anna (10/5): -
- Elise (8/5): - Design of bath difficult to get into
- Ágnes (8/5): -
- John (8/5): - everything was excelent except .for sad ;lack ofstaffwhren needed.initial room was totally unsuitable setrvice as comment

- Nicolas (9/5): Relaxing beyond words - Decor, food, ambience, scent, open fireplaces, location Nothing
- Jessica (9/5): Very relaxing, stylish and food was very good. Would recommend - Very relaxing, stylish and food was very good
- Lulu (10/5): -
- Chloe (9/5): -
- Peter (8/5): Nice comfortable hotel for a short stay - comfortable room, good breakfast although no bowls to put natural yogurt in I had a shower in room and because it is open plan with no door the water come down from the shower saturating the bathroom floor which I had to mop up with soaken towels, badly designed. I did not inform reception, this must happen often as I did not have a excessive long shower
- Elena (10/5): Unforgettable Stay! - No words to describe the hotel, the staff, the location, the food! Everything beyond expectations! We will definitely go back ! NOTHING. Everything and everyone was wonderful!
- D'arcy (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (9/5): -
- YUN (10/5): - Everything! Such an amazing experience Nothing at all, it is just perfect
- Will (9/5): -
- Charlotte (9/5): Super relaxing stay at Hyll, we wish we could have stayed longer! - All staff were very very friendly, the snugs with the lit fireplaces made the stay cosy and relaxing. We loved the selection of board games and the option to have breakfast delivered to the room. Immediate replies when using WhatsApp. Super easy check out. The info booklets in the room were a nice touch and helped us plan our days during our stay. Noise travelled whilst in the room, particularly upstairs and outside in the corridor.
- Devante (8/5): -
- Leonie (10/5): -
- Lucy (10/5): -
- Joycelyn (9/5): - It is all lovely and extremely relaxing. This is the second time we have stayed there and they always seem to have an eclectic mixture of guests, which makes for interesting chats after dinner. The service and food are both excellent. Our bedroom was so hot that we had to sleep outside of the covers, despite turning the radiator off. Unfortunately we did not work out how to open the window until the next morning!
- Thomas (9/5): -
- Jackie (10/5): - Very comfortable birthday stay would return Thought there was s pool
- Elizaveta (10/5): Great place to switch off and recharge! - Pretty much everything! Room was beautiful and cozy, dinner was delicious and staff was very kind! It might have been our mistake but we didn’t realise that spa was closed for renovation.
- Sophia (10/5): -
- HelsBels (10/5): Relaxing and a place to do nothing - Pure comfort, allowing you to check out from daily life
- Guest (10/5): Amazing stay! -
- Giulia (8/5): Overall was an amazing stay and definitely coming back - The calm and serene atmosphere, the hotel gave a at-home feeling especially in the lounges with games, activities and vinyls. The rooms were exceptional, clean and the beds were very comfortable. Staff is very caring. We loved the “do nothing” mood/ vibe. Could have been more soundproof as we could hear others people tv in the room next to us and in the corridor.
- Katie (10/5): Fabulous stay - Beautiful hotel full of charm and character. The bedroom and bathroom were nicely decorated with a fabulous range of extras and the bed was very comfortable. Great views and only a short drive to Cotswold towns. Loved the resident cats too they were very sweet. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Brilliant stay will definitely be back.
