Guest Reviews
- Elizabeth (9/5): The perfect comfy getaway location! - Excellent location, with a very short drive to the centre of town. The property was surrounded by trees and it was lovely to hear the birds in the morning. The kitchen had great amenities. It was perfect for our stay - myself and a friend, we had a bedroom each. It was very easy to communicate with the host via booking.com - they were very responsive. I would definitely love to stay here again! Note there is only one small bathroom, which was fine for us (2 friends), but if there were a larger number of people staying this might be more of an issue.

- Samantha (10/5): We would absolutely stay here again, it was a perfect getaway for us and being amongst the trees and on property was so - A beautiful and cosy property that was perfect for our family (2 adults, an infant and 2 dogs). The main bedroom was spacious enough to fit all our luggage and the portacot which was fantastic. The living room was very comfortable and again, there was plenty of room. Once the heating has kicked in, the place is warm and comfortable. We were in contact with the host throughout and the promptness was fantastic and they even provided a baby bath for us, which was incredibly kind. We loved everything about the property, but I will say the bed is on the softer side, which wasn’t an issue for us but worth noting in case.
- Christine (10/5): Great stay at a lovely little place - The location was fantastic and we had good communication from the host. Nothing. Evenything was great
- Peter (8/5): -
- Marie (9/5): Refreshing experience - The host was prompt and the accomodation delivered the expectations of tranquility.
- Hill (9/5): -
- Maia (9/5): Restful, relaxing and regenerating - It was a nice and close drive to the Main Street and in a quiet part of town. The rooms were cosy and light, everything was spotless and clean, and it made a very easy weekend away. That we didn’t book for longer and only had a weekend there!
- Jennifer (8/5): -
- Kerrie (10/5): - Excellant communication re booking and throughout our stay.
Very genetous Welcome pack was a lifesaver as we didnt have a car plus 2 jars of rolled oats , so we could cook porridge..
2 litres of milk in the fridge too.
Such a gorgeous home , Kookaburra Retreat has become pur Homa Awsy from Home.
We love it! Wish we could h ave stayed longer in Paradise but alas work is calling !
- Carly (10/5): Perfect for a weekend away! - The property was spacious, with lots of space for our doggy to run around. Everything was very clean and taken care of. N/A
- Gabrielle (8/5): Home away from home . - It was a lovely stay situated not far from town . It’s a lovely 3 bedroom room and a nice place to stay . The bed was very comfortable and it was nice to receive a little welcome gift to . Overall it was amazing . Just suggest to get a plug for kitchen sink and shower mat in shower .
- Leza (10/5): Relaxing stay was wonderful! - So peaceful, quiet and relaxing. Excellent communication with owner. Wonderful bush setting and expertly decorated. Comfortable and very clean. Loved it! Especially the lounge lights that changed colour! Couldn't figure out how to use the kitchen sink plug. No matter what we did it wouldn't seal. A few suggestions: The dining table was too low for the chairs. Perhaps some extra wood underneath would raise it to better fit legs. We could only lock the front door from the inside and leave out the lounge door. Maybe a few more items in the first aid kit would be wise. Also a small fire extinguisher in the kitchen.
- Sally (8/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): Our stay was short but very enjoyable and would definitely look to visit again soon!! - It was in a fabulous location and so close to town. It provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Our host was super friendly and helpful and I felt that just via our messaging Nothing. It served our purpose very well.
- Kerrie (10/5): - EVERYTHING!
Perfect home to have a holiday, cosy , warm , great views, great atmosphere Not long enough!
- Dianne (9/5): Superb - Lovely setting Nothing to report, everything lovely
- Julia (8/5): Gorgeous Bushland retreat close to Daylesford - Close to Bushland, nice and quiet, nice sized kitchen, good heating which was needed, and had everything we needed. The second bedroom was small. For two friends it would have been nice to have the bigger bedroom so we both had our space. The configuration would have worked for a couple and a child but not for 2 friends travelling. We also needed tea towels, oven mitts and a hand towel for the bathroom. Small heater in the bathroom on the wall or such as heat lights would be a great idea.
- Carolyn (9/5): Superb -
- Wilson (9/5): Superb - So tidy and complete.
- Munt (5/5): Passable - The home was clean, beds very comfortable, fire pit was great. Its an easy walk i to town. Could not get into the property, were not provided the entry code in a timely manner. There is not a comfortable lounge area. The owner was not friendly. We definitely would not stay again. The feedback back from the owner from their camera made is feel like we were under surveillance
- Beitzel (10/5): Exceptional - 5 Stars on every level.
The generosity of the host, from the Welcome box , yummy treats to eat , bottle of wine, etc. Every cupboard I would open was another surprise, hand cream , aerogarde, sunscreen lotion . Etc Choice of breakfast cerals, spices, cooking ingredients.
The home is spotless. Stunning linen and tv rug Beds super comfortable
Spacious home.
Felt like miles from anywhete but only a 2 minute drive into town. Out door settings , s i t in the sun listern to the birds , look at the autumn trees bushland too.
Best accommodation, i have stayed at and been doing private holidays since last century, the Kookaburra Retreat is the best i have stayed at, this would be from around 100 bookings , ( maybe even more ) over the last 30 years. Incredible home ! Not long enough!
Returning next month as a consulation!
- Belinda (10/5): Well worth the stay, nature at its best, in the ideal location - 1. Perfect location only 4 minutes away from the town.
2. Was very cosy - had heating and cooling.
3. Bed was super comfy.
4.. In a beautiful, peaceful area.
5. A welcome hamper was waiting for us - a lovely surprise.
6. We had a couple of questions. The host was so friendly and got back to us so quickly. N/a
- Tracey (8/5): Very good -
- Itzel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bridget (10/5): Exceptional - Great accommodation to stay at to spend time outdoors and exploring the town. Communication and amenities from owner exceed expectations. Very comfy beds and good sized rooms. Living room space a little small for family group, but made up for with the outdoor fire pit/outdoor table settings.
- Wadham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): Perfection!! We would definitely stay there again. - We liked how quaint it was. The cleanliness and the location. The welcome basket was a lovely surprise. There was nothing I don’t like.
- Deck (8/5): A really enjoyable place to unwind for a couple of nights. - Great to have the whole place to ourselves. Spacious, all necessary conveniences. Nicky provided a well-stocked welcome pack which was greatly appreciated. Gave us the chance to make our own scrambled eggs for brekky. Close enough to town for eating, shopping. We can recommend the Wild Ginger Thai restaurant. NIcky was an excellent communicator; any problems she was able to quickly resolve. We never quite managed to achieve 'cosy'. The two r/c a/c were located in one corner of the cottage, and with close to zero overnight, they struggled to warm the well-equipped kitchen where we ate breakfast. Somehow we had expected a slow-combustion fire, but we realise that's probably neither practical nor safe with guests.
- Caitlin (10/5): A great little cottage for a trip away. - The cottage was great for our weekend away. It was in a close location to town, only a couple minutes drive away from everything. The house itself was lovely, the beds were comfy, the kitchen was really well equipped and the bathroom looked like it had recently gone through some upgrades. It was a really great place to stay. The cottage was surprisingly quite big. We stayed in the middle of winter so we made sure to bring our warmest clothes but the heating did a great job at taking the chill off the air. Would definitely stay again.
- Grace (10/5): Exceptional - This was the PERFECT stay for our little girls trip to Daylesford! The host was lovely and very prompt with replies. The included breakfast/pantry items were a pleasant surprise and very much appreciated by our little group. The cottage is charming and worked great for what we were looking for. There could have been more seating options and extra blankets would have been appreciated since we visited in the middle of winter!
