Guest Reviews
- Mark (8/5): Made to feel very welcome delightful host who couldn’t do enough thank you Elizabeth - Homely warm and friendly greeting
- George (10/5): - Stayed one night as we were catching a flight early the next morning. Everything was great and because we had to leave before breakfast the owner provided us with a discount to compensate for same, which was unexpected but much appreciated.
- Mandy (10/5): Everything you need! - We stayed in room 3, Muirfield. It was lovely and spacious. We were made to feel very welcome too. Wonderful breakfast with lots to choose from.
I highly recommend a stay here.

- Steve (10/5): Great place with amazimg hostess. - Purpose built as a B+B. Elizabeth the proprietor was so welcoming and charming. Her breakfast was amazing as was her conversation.
- Patricia (10/5): An excellent experience and I would be happy to stay there again. - Great selection of foods for breakfast and good coffee. Everything served beautifully in a comfortable dining room.
Bedrooms was well equipped with everything you could possibly need.
- Blaickner (10/5): Hervorragend - Die Besitzerin Elizabeth war äußerst zuvorkommend und für ihr Alter sehr gut in Schuss! Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt!
- Lagdon (10/5): Wonderful host, great breakfast! - Great welcome, despite our late arrival. Lovely breakfast, would highly recommend staying here. nothing - everything perfect :)
- Kathryn (10/5): The warmest welcome - A wonderful warm welcome from Elizabeth. Excellent location for getting to Edinburgh Airport. Lovely facilities and everything I needed on the refreshment tray. I was disappointed to miss the breakfast as I had to leave so early, but had a discount to compensate which I had not asked for. Nothing
- Jim (9/5): -
- ann (10/5): heel goed - een super gemotiveerd dame die graag haar gasten verwend met een heel lekker ontbijt. niets
- Paola (10/5): Una vera coccola!
Super consigliato e ci torneremo!
Paola e Marco Nulla, tutto ok!
- Uwe (10/5): -
- Jane (8/5): - The hostess was very accommodating and pleasant.
- holly (10/5): elizabeth was the greatest host ever! - came for one night and most comfortable bed we've slept in in a while, cute golf theme and elizabeth was the kindest most attentive host we've ever met! could not recommend Ashcroft Farmhouse more
- Dominik (10/5): See you next time - Great host (Elizabeth). Best Breakfast all over Scotland.
- Christopher (10/5): Great bandb in scots village - Lovely traditional scottish hospitality welcomed by the salt of the earth host.a super comfy bedroom awaits and it seems no detail is missed Nothing to say !
- Robin (10/5): The perfect place to stay after a long walk - It was everything you want from a Guesthouse with a wonderful host, Elizabeth. Nothing
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Diane (8/5): Very good - Elizabeth was the kindest, friendliest and most helpful host you could wish to meet. Breakfast was delicious if a bit too big for us, sorry we couldn't finish it! Location is handy for the airport and some lovely walks close by down to the river. The bedroom was a little hot on a very hot night, but too close to the road noise to open the windows. Did find out there was a fan in the wardrobe afterwards.
- Ian (8/5): Ideally situated for us. Would definitely recommend Ashcroft Farmhouse - A very comfortable place to stay, although the room was host, with a delightful host(ess). The radiators which were on, could not be adjusted.
- Pauline (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (4/5): Disappointing -
- Carolyn (8/5): Very good -
- Marta (5/5): Unpleasant and disappointing due to the host’s unwelcoming and hostile behavior. - The place itself was clean, well-maintained, and matched the description, which we appreciated. However, our experience with the host was disappointing. Due to bad weather and driving in the dark through the north of the country, we arrived later than expected. We informed the host well in advance that we would be arriving after the usual check-in time, and we apologized for the inconvenience.
Unfortunately, upon arrival, we were met with clear hostility and unwelcoming behavior from the host. We tried to be understanding and apologized again in person.
The next morning, during breakfast, the unpleasant attitude continued. The host made a point of loudly mentioning our late arrival in front of all the other guests and even blamed us for issues with the breakfast service. We found this public shaming unnecessary and unacceptable.
While we understand our delay may have caused some disruption, it did not justify the way we were treated. This significantly impacted our overall experience.
- Steve (6/5): stay was good:) - very good location for the Lost Shore surf pool
Good breakfast wifi
- Alana (9/5): Superb -
- Joanne (10/5): Fabulous stay - Very homely. Lovely amazing lady looking after us. Would recommend staying. Breakfast was fantastic too. Nothing
- Shrek1253 (9/5): Business trip 1 night stay - Home comforts
Friendly host
Wonderful breakfast Shower low pressure
- Devin (9/5): Superb - Lovely host, great breakfast, good location near the airport for those flying out.
- Darren (10/5): Great night's sleep with a hearty breakfast - Superb sleep equalled by the superb breakfast
Plenty of parking Difficult to improve
- Diane (10/5): Out of this world. - Elizabeth is the quintessential host! She epitomizes why we hike in Scotland every year - kind, warm, welcoming people! She arranged our taxi to the airport seamlessly. I suggest putting the bus transfer (from Edinburgh) details online. Include the x27 bus from the city to Ashcroft and when to disembark from the bus. It is quite simple, but the bus drivers have little information.
- Daphne (9/5): Great host - Close to airport with easy access to and from the city. Felt homey. Nothing
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lagdon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (9/5): Comfy, Homely and a brilliant reception and communication. - The Personal touch, the fantastic SCOTTISH Breakfast and the genuine concern for my welfare as the weather was quite inclement for someone South of the Border and so I was well communicated with about the state of the roads. NOTHING- Its was GREAT!
- Donald (8/5): Very good -
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast. Great location (10 minute drive from the comic con I was attending). Great host - Elizabeth is so lovely I have nothing negative to say about my stay
- Nicole (10/5): Best Stay in Scotland - Elizabeth was an incredible host. She's so kind and really funny and smart, and she cares a lot about her guests. This place isn't directly in the city but is very close to the airport, and was well worth the tradeoff. It's only £6 round trip bus ride to the city (super easy, the bus stop was around the corner and lots of available times). The breakfast was really wonderful, the room was perfect and the bed was SO comfortable. I can't recommend enough that you stay here. I liked everything about it, truly was so wonderful.
- Peter (9/5): Superb - Great host, very friendly Decor a bit old fashioned
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Smashing accommodation and an even better host
- Brenda (9/5): Excellent stop for 1 night for real home comforts and so easy to get to Edinburgh airport - Lovely host, very helpful and welcoming. Very comfortable double bed, spacious bedroom. Good nights sleep as so quiet. Lots of hot water in shower, room warm. Very very very good breakfast. Loads of parking right outside front door. Would recommend every time. Corner shower very small but did manage!
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darren (9/5): A superb stay! - Superb host, scrummy breakfast, good wi-fi, and a good night's sleep I liked it all
- Nancy (10/5): Wonderful. Very close to the airport - Elizabeth is an exceptional hostess. All good.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Very highly recommended! - Lovely hostess, very comfortable and peaceful location, only 15 minutes from the airport, very generous breakfast, and was able to accommodate my vegetarian diet as well. Nothing
- Lee (10/5): The most wonderful, experienced and kind host you’ll ever meet! - Wonderful place to stay, homely and great comfortable well appointed rooms. The most wonderful, experienced and kind host you’ll ever meet
- Bonnie (10/5): Great B&B in a quiet location with a charming host. - Clean and very comfortable. Great location. Breakfast was included and was delicious. Hostess was amazing and friendly.

- Nicola (10/5): Fantastic stay - Elizabeth is the most amazing & friendly hostess. Fantastic breakfast.
- Petra (9/5): Superb - Lovely Lady, Good Breakfast
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Full of old world charm and excellent service
- Shu (10/5): Exceptional - friendly and helpful landlady.
excellent location, though only min away from the airport, it was quiet, offered a peaceful good sleep after a long flight. nothing
- Lesley (6/5): Handy for our trip - Quiet Bit dated
- Steve (9/5): A very pleasant overnighter - Lovely location in a nice village with great quiet walks nearby. Elizabeth the owner was a hoot!! Really friendly and with a great sense of humour. Place was spotlessly clean. The room was very light, so the sun woke us up at 4.30. Also a little dated in decor?
- Lorraine (9/5): Great location, great breakfast super spacious room overall we had a good stay at the B&B - Location was good easy access to Edinburgh city centre, we were attending a wedding at Kirk Newton which was only 5 mins travel by taxi, location quiet and peaceful ideal location For me personally I found the mattress to hard however saying that the room was spacious and clean and added extras tea coffee and snacks were included, Elizabeth the owner was very helpful and served a super breakfast as a host she was very warm and friendly could not fault her hospitality
- Katie (10/5): Already planning the next trip, hospitality was second to none ❤️ - Elizabeth was AMAZING, the breakfast was fab, the room was clean and comfortable. Perfect location on a bus route for Murrayfield Stadium.
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional - True Bed and Breakfast !
- Shona (10/5): A real gem, so glad I found it. - The property is very clean and well presented throughout. Room had everything I needed and more. Teatray was a different class and lots of toiletries in the bathroom. Clean white crisp towels and shower mat for inside shower and one for outside. Garden is beautiful and well kept. Added bonus watching the sheep in the field to the side of the house. But what makes the place is the owner. She is helpful, friendly and makes a great breakfast. I had to leave after one night to fly down South.
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was the best we had in our stay in Scotland!
- Sara (9/5): It was like going home, lovely host - Elizabeth the host, she couldn’t of been more helpful and welcoming In an ideal world we would of liked a little bigger room, but it had everything we needed
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional - We really enjoyed our stay at Ashcroft Farmhouse. The owner was so welcoming and stored our bicycles safely on her garage. The room was comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. We will return.

- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional - It was lovely
- Berni4477 (10/5): Perfect place, perfect host - This was a perfect little gem of a B&B, I can't express how amazing Elizabeth is, she is the most perfect host and such a beautiful lady, she showed us to our room and came in and sat and chatted like we had been friends for year, it was just perfect, the bedroom was just right for what we needed and the tunnocks wafer bar was a great touch, breakfast in the morning was brilliant and I loved the haggis, I would deffinatly stay here again. Nothing it was just spot on
- Woodcock (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isobel (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was absolutely superb
- Shirley (9/5): Superb -
- Jean (10/5): One of the best B & B's I have ever stayed whilst travelling on business. - Ashcroft Farmhouse was ideally located for my business trip. Parking facilities were excellent. The welcome from Elizabeth was much appreciated after a long drive and a days work. The property is immaculately clean, provides every requirement a business traveller needs and the breakfast is beyond excellent. Providing a very good selection of food Elizabeth catered for my Coeliac Disease without hesitation all cooked and presented to an exemplary standard in comfortable and clean breakfast room. I couldn't have been happier with my stay. Nothing to complain about at all.
- Sue (10/5): the host could not have been more charming - delicous breakfast
- Mark (8/5): Traditional cosy B&B with great breakfast - Excellent home cooked breakfast Nothing really. It’s homely and cosy old fashioned comfort, so if you love that it’s the place for you, if you are looking for modern, standard chain type hotel it’s not for you
- Oswaldo (10/5): Lovely Place. - The complete experience was amazing. It was sad that I couldn't meet Elizabeth due to personal issues, but her daughter was excellent, and they gave me a non-required compensation for the breakfast.
I strongly recommend this lovely place to stay in their Scotland vacations.

- Angela (10/5): A Little Gem of a Place. - Close proximity to event we were attending. Really comfortable room and fantastic breakfast which was included in the amazingly decent price, best of all was Elizabeth the owner who is so friendly and has the most wicked sense of humour. A delightful lady. Nothing to dislike.

- Kat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lp (10/5): Recommended by our engineers ..... - Great place to book for our engineers, when working away from home.
As a small air conditioning business who covers the whole of the UK, we are over the moon when our engineers ate happy with the place they are staying.
Happy engineers = quiet office! N/A
- Michael (10/5): Warm and welcoming, excellent food, clean, well-appointed room with ensuite facilities. - Elizabeth Scott was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. The room was clean and inviting, everything functioned well. I will recommend Ashcraft Farmhouse to family and friends.
- Richard (10/5): Elizabeth is a super friendly amazing lady that runs a lovely guest house - Very clean and comfortable Nothing
- Fiona (9/5): Superb - A very warm welcome, the room was pleasant with tea and coffee. It is well placed for visiting local attractions as close to city centre etc. Elizabeth did all she could to make our stay a pleasant one. The breakfast in the morning was very good. Overall, we would highly recommend the Ashcroft House. This is probably just personal preference, but we found the mattress a little uncomfortable and a little bit hard. A soft mattress topper would probably have made a big difference.
- Francis (9/5): A very positive experience. - It was easy to locate and park. Elizabeth made us very welcome and explained everything to us. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable with all that we needed. Bathroom was spotless, perhaps on the small side but that is normal. Breakfast was a treat and the breakfast room had a happy atmosphere. There was a range of options available too. We would not hesitate to return. Nothing!
- Andrew (10/5): The best accomodation so far. - A cosy comfortable bedroom and the owner of the BnB was beautiful with a warm welcome and a wonderful sense of humour
