• Sophie (9/5): - This hostel.is amazing! The satff was very friendly and helpful. And the kitchen with two stoves allowed us to cook our own meals. The room was very cozy and large, with a very comfortable bed. The shared facilities were clean. And we never had the problem that they were occupied when we wanted to use them.
• Michal (7/5): - Cosy guesthouse in Matsumoto if you’re looking for a budget stay in the city center. It could get with bit more cleaning and general maintenance. Also, it’s probably not the biggest issue since it’s Japan, but what we didn’t like is that the entrance door is unlocked and anyone can enter the building throughout the day or night. The staff is only present there for few hrs during check-in.

• Marie (10/5): Bien pour court séjour - C'est une sympathique maison. Le lit en dortoir est confortable, la pièce commune est très agréable avec son petit jardin. Très bien situé, proche du château et à une petite vingtaine de minutes de la gare de Matsumoto. C'est bruyant, on entend les voitures passer devant la guesthouse et le bruit dans les chambres voisines.

• Ajmej (9/5): Great, cozy and friendly staff! - The guesthouse was very cozy, especially the common area was nice and inviting! The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Overall we had a great stay! The shower area could have been cleaner, but it did not affect our pleasant experience at guesthouse Azumaya!

• Lynn (6/5): Excellent Location, Youthful friendly hostel style accommodation - Very good location, close to everything and convenient. Beds were comfortable, hosts were kind and friendly. We were a family with young kids and had our own quadruple sharing room, so slightly not the usual demographic for what seems to be a youth hostel and the shared dorm next door but we were comfortable the two nights we stayed and the house is very quiet at night.

• Aji (8/5): Very nice japanese style guest house - japanese house style guest house and I like the style. It's very clean, the staffs are very friendly. They can speak english if you unable to speak japanese. It's easy to find the property, located near from nakamachi street and matsumoto castle, its around 10-20 minutes by walking from matsumoto station. the room where I stayed has 2 bunk bed (wood style) which have 2 beds each. So my room can occupied with 4 person in 2nd floor, there is a toilet and wastafel in 2nd floor. The bathroom/shower is japanese style without heater, as tropical person, stay at the start of spring which temperature around 0-10°C at night will be a bit tough. Also the room a bit cold for me, somehow at night and in the morning. Even using blanket still feeling cold. All the "didn't like", seems because i come from tropical country, so I am bit sensitive to very low temperature 😅✌️

La ubicación perfecta, céntrica pero silenciosa, a pocos minutos de la estación de trenes. Pudimos ocupar la cocina también y nos sentimos como en casa. El staff también muy simpático y lo mejor las recomendaciones de restaurantes que tenían en una carpeta! probamos algunos lugares y fueron experiencias increíbles!

• Nathaniel (10/5): Fantastic guesthouse in a great location - The guesthouse has a great location and cozy feel. I booked the individual bedroom, which was sparse but functional, with a nice bed and plenty of space for luggage. The common room served as a very pleasant place to hang out, with a kotatsu and shared facilities. Both the hosts I talked with were kind and welcoming, providing clear instructions on how to check in / check out as well as general advice for what to see and do in Matsumoto. Bedroom felt a little dusty and awkwardly set up, shared bath/shower was clearly well used and worn.

• Takahiro (9/5): 英会話の練習になりました！ - 松本駅からは徒歩15-20分ほどと少し遠いですが、松本城などからは近いです。 松本の観光の拠点にどうぞ。ゲストハウスなので料金も良心的です。 私は日本人ですが、客はほぼ外国人のようです。 たまたま宿泊した日はそうだった、というわけではなかったようです。 それは館内においてある、観光用パンフレットなどを見てもわかります。 日本語の物がないのです。 だからと言って日本人を歓迎してくれないなんてことはあり得ませんし、それで不便には全く感じませんでした。 英会話に自信がなくとも、出川英語でもよいので英会話を楽しみましょう。 また、チェックインして早々にぜんざいを頂きました。ごちそうさまでした。 古民家を改装しているのでトイレ、シャワールームが寒いです。 簡易的な暖房器具でもいいので置いて頂けると助かります。

• Japhet (5/5): No volvería - Cerca del castillo de Matsumoto, es una guesthouse así que en verdad tampoco esperes más, si lo tuyo son hoteles esto no es para ti Lejos de la estación de trenes, con lluvia y maletas no te recomiendo quedarte acá. La ducha no es para nada agradable, de hecho preferimos ducharnos en nuestra siguiente estancia ya que no se veía muy clean. Las camas y sus cobertores tampoco daban impresión de estar recién lavados.

• Max (10/5): Great guesthouse with the best kind of hostel vibes - Very well equipped and great vibes. Nozomi was a great host, very helpful and sociable! The guesthouse had all of the facilities you would hope for, and the community/atmosphere it seems to create was wonderful. The private room was pretty good too, very comfy. There's not really anything to dislike. It's well located and well kept!

Nice common area to relax too I liked the nice personal touches in the guesthouse such as their monthly publication posters pasted in the toilets Having a dedicated drying rack or area would be good. Currently the clothes had to be hung in the common area or on the pull up bar in the garden, which is not very good for other guests, or if female guests want to wash their clothes.

• Sharon (3/5): Overall, I found this guesthouse to be both overrated and overpriced, and I am unsure how it has received such high rati - It is an old house. 18 mins away from the Matsumoto station and 12 mins away from the Matsumoto castle. There were insects on the tatami floor, which was quite disappointing. The entrance door remained unlocked, allowing unrestricted access. Additionally, no instructions were provided regarding the key return process, so I ultimately left it on the coffee table. The towel rental fee is 100 yen. Overall, I found this guesthouse to be both overrated and overpriced, and I am unsure how it has received such high ratings. The cost does not reflect the level of service offered.

• Sara (10/5): Hogar fuera de casa - Shotaro tiene una casa preciosa y super acogedora. Solo estuvimos una noche en una de las habitaciones privadas pero nos hubiera encantado quedarnos mas días. Es perfecto si buscas una estancia con personalidad y que se sienta como un hogar.
