Guest Reviews
- Samuel (8/5): Cheap when in Reykjavik - We always spend a night here when travelling across Iceland and find ourselves arround the capital; One of the 2 kitchens has very few to none tools; the smell in the hallways next to the WC aren't very nice sometimes (some people just don't close the door after leaving); poor ventilation
- Ingrid (2/5): Not a pleasant stay. Very unsettling atmosphere. - Overall, while the service and cleanliness were decent, the atmosphere just wasn’t for me. If you’re sensitive to creepy environments, you might want to think twice before booking. I usually appreciate places with history, but this hotel—converted from an old hospital—was just too eerie for comfort. The overall vibe was unsettling from the moment we arrived. Dim hallways, echoing corridors, and an overwhelming number of disturbing portraits hanging throughout the property made it very hard to relax.
The decor in the room tried to be vintage, but ended up feeling more like a haunted house. I couldn’t shake the feeling of unease the entire time and barely slept.
If you’re into spooky, haunted aesthetics, maybe this would be your kind of place. But if you’re just looking for a peaceful, comfortable stay, I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
- Samuel (8/5): 1h from airport, cheaper than elsewhere in Reykjavik - Easy check in and parking, cheap when arroind Reykjavik; good position for airport This time, my single room had no washbasin and no normal chair, only a weird-looking stool
- Anna (8/5): Very good - Easy to find, has everything needed Kitchen might need more utensils.
- Lay (9/5): 1 of our best stays in Iceland. - Beautiful & Serene environment with good views. Parking just outside the main door - very convenient. Well equipped kitchen with big dinning area. Shower & toilet facilities & room very clean & tidy. Overall feeling very much at home. Good to have hair dryer. At least a fixed one in the big toilet - away from the wet.
- Merten (6/5): Pleasant - Kitchens have plenty amenities, are reasonably clean (depending mostly on other guests), free coffee. lounge areas are decent and comfortable. Light in my room did not work apart from the night table one. Rooms are extemely basic, not even a table. Seems to be an former old people home, or hospital of some sort. Location is quite off, and without navigation impossible to find, passing the cities official garbage dump.
- Martynas (3/5): Poor - Otherwise place is fine, remote and beautiful. Cleaning ladies were from Poland and was very nice. Unfortunatelly I have to rate as it is. The communication with management was totally zero. I wrote plenty of emails regarding invoices, no response were made. To sum up I would suggest choose something else if you need invoicing.
- Martynas (4/5): All good! - Everything.
- Filip (8/5): Very good -
- Smith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samuel (9/5): Good value - Good for a stop on the way back to the capital; always a safe choice arround the city; good price/value; good bed/mattress The rooms have a strong smell of disinfectant; little window allows only little air to get i to the room
- Muhamad (8/5): Nice - Nice and clean
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- Shiraz (8/5): Very good -
- Dilys (7/5): Good -
- Li (8/5): Good value for money, good kitchen, comfortable bed. Near to the shops and Reykjavik. - I really like the kitchen, it was big, well equipped and very organised. The exterior of the build looks run down.
- Ori (8/5): Very good -
- Mei (7/5): ok for staying one night; only having a car can stay this place. quite far from the main road - clean and reasonable size bed and room. very difficulty to find it; the road isn't good to drive into the place; only one factory nearby;
- Wiebke (8/5): Very good - Hotel is an old hospital which is kind of cool. Very large bathrooms Missed a bed light
- Dominik (10/5): great place, peculiar location - Everything except location (industrial neighbourhood) was great. Both google maps and TomTom lost its way but lucky there were signs leading to the place.
- Igor (9/5): It is a very good place to have a rest after long flight before camping trip and back )) - Perfect place to have a rest, valued paid money. Fully equipped kitchen with free coffee. Lots of space for relax with comfortable chairs and tables. Good shelter when the weather becomes bad Not easy access. You need a car. No public transport.
- Iyer (6/5): Pleasant -
- Zhivko (9/5): Superb -
- Martyna (7/5): Good - Big room with comfortable beds, big and clean bathrooms and showers. Nice staff. Kitchen is really big, but it is also a little messy, not super clean. No towels hooks in the room and any shelfs/night stand to put comfortable your personal belongins, but there is big wordrobe. Only two sockets in triple room.
- Jia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fabrizio (8/5): Very good - Big kitchen
Clean shared bathroom Not so near to Reykjavik
- Boris_bulgaria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tiffany (9/5): Superb -
- Luca (9/5): Superb - Very big common kitchen and well equipped The bathroom was a bit difficult to use, there was almost no way to hang a towel or bottle of shampoo
- Maja (6/5): Good for a one night stay, basic room and a pretty rusty bathroom - We needed a place not too far away from the airport for a reasonable price as we would spend there only a couple of hours. The room had 2 seperate beds, a closet and a sink with a mirror, so that was nice. The first bathroom I've walked in had 2 showers right next to each other with no separation and the bathroom didn't lock at all, so that was concerning. Fortunately, there was another bathroom that locked, but the shower was pretty old and rusty, there was no handle for a shower head and the water was barely running.
- Anonymous (10/5): Excellent stay! - Great Facilities and check in process All good
- Martynas (9/5): Good price and value. - Facilities was clean and tidy, I liked a lot kitchen as there is possibility to cook, different type of equipment. Very nice view, good parking and space inside and outside. There is also possibility to BBQ outside with own equimpent.
Very generous cleaning ladies :) I would like to have better communication regarding fridge food rules if you move from one room to another, so they will not throw away stuff. Also communication during phone it seems that phone holder doesnt know whats going on and who you emailing to also. But I solved all things with repeating and asking again and again, so just that. Otherwise everything is really smooth and nice! Happy to be there!
- Marius (5/5): Passable - Old hospital feeling, very pricey for what you get.
- Boris_bulgaria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Radoslawlab (9/5): Regular guesthouse on the bayshore Zwykły pensjonat nad zatoką - Kitchen and dinning room equipement. Kuchnia i jadalnia
- Zhenming (1/5): Bad - I was very disappointed with my stay. I bought steak, salmon, and other food items and stored them in the refrigerator, but they went missing during my stay. I contacted the staff, but they were unable to help or provide any solution. This experience was very frustrating and unacceptable I was very disappointed with my stay. - Arantxa (7/5): Good - Very comfortable beds Bath was flooding
- Kristaps (9/5): Superb - Everything clean, good view. Hairdryer was missing
- Birgitta (8/5): Good value f money Roth lots of space - Everything you need
3 decked out kitchens with cooktops and stove !
Food leftover from other travellers is very helpful. It’s in the middle of nowhere.
But was five for us as we didn’t intend to eat out.
- Tiffany (10/5): Well maintained, clean and comfortable- Great place to stay for the value. - The rooms are easy to access and comfortable! The place is well maintained, communal spaces are very clean. The location is slightly far off.
- Serena_seunghee (9/5): Superb - I loved everything in there. It was beyond my expectation compared to the price!
We stayed in a triple room and the shared WCs were quite clean.
The shared kitchen was also huge and spacious so a lot of people were able to fit in.
And.. my favorite part of this guesthouse was shower water.. geothermal water was really nice for my skin as well :) Nothing. Really wanna visit again to this place.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Maria (8/5): Clean place for an overnight stay - Clean and good common kitchen. Nice common sitting area. Serves its purpose for a nights stay before heading out. Good for an overnight stay. This is an old hospital that has remodeled into a guest house - you can feel it! Directions to here are somewhat fuzzy but watch the signs when you get there. Nothing much else in the area, no groceries or gas stations or anything nearby so come with all your food and necessities.
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Ganna (8/5): Fair - The road leading to house is rough, watch for home made white low level signs as there is road that is not in google maps. There is free coffee but coffee pods look like tea bags, the noise level depends on how full is the house, it is outside Reykjavík, but gives you great road access if you travel Snæfellsness or golden circle, bring eye mask in summer, curtains do not block the light Access road, could be more cozy
- Vanilynmae (10/5): Comfortable - Isolated location, but very nice views. Room was clean and bathroom was spacious. Common area was well thought of, and had everything we needed to prepare food. Outside looks rundown, but the interior is well maintained.
- Tara (10/5): Happy Visitor - Clean, comfortable, kitchen available, ocean view, shared bathrooms were clean and many of them, and private. Out of town so it was quite. Good online self checkin. We found this property last minute. It turned out great. Great value. Thanks Did not see any staff while was at the facility. But I never needed any assistance. The access road is rough, but not uncommon in Iceland. Just drive slow.
- Birgitta (8/5): Good value f money in Iceland in the middle of nowhere with beautiful view. - Very spacious and clean . Lots of kitchens (3x) and communal space . Very quiet .
It was in the middle of no where . Got us good as we went south the next day. No one there . No staff at all.
Key less entry . I guess that’s cheaper and the future.
- Sigurður (8/5): very good but road must be fixed - Eacy to come at any time and just use code in to the room , even late at night. The road to Víðines is very bad and need emidiatly repaired!!
- Marcus (10/5): Comfortable, cost effective location for two. - A bit off the beaten path but with a car it was easy to get to. There is a large commercial kitchen with a lot of amenities, many tables to gather and relax. There was also a large shelf with communal items for the kitchen and some food, tea, and more.
Very easy automatic check-in.
- Alison (1/5): Bad -
- James (8/5): Very good - There is plenty of space to relax, lots of sofas and chairs. The atmosphere was very miserable. No one was talking to other guests. Other than them self's. The two ladies who I presume work there? Didn't smile or say hello 😕. Very strange atmosphere 🤔.
Oh and someone stole my food from the fridge 😒 I hope they got travel sickness after 🤣🤣
- Ronnie (4/5): Disappointing - beautiful location limited bathroom facilities. One toilet & shower for 10 rooms!
- Zachary (10/5): Exceptional - Great bed, clean facilities and shared bathrooms, and beautiful view of a field of lupines and nearby lake. Nothing! This would be a great place to stay in the winter during the northern lights season, but I also really enjoyed being here during the midnight sun.
- Maria (8/5): Shot stay - Nice low budget place to sleep, stayed there twice and probably will come more Hard beds and it was a bit cold
- Ásdís (8/5): Very good - I did like the cleanliness and all the facilities. I had two teens with me and we could find a place to play cards and if we would have liked to, then we could have easily had our breakfast in the kitchen. I also like the fact that the place is wheelchair friendly. And that there are old photos of Reykjavik and Hallgrímskirkja when it was being built. I simply like the fact that you changed this old hospital to a guesthouse and it is very affordable. I just hope that you will keep the prices as affordable as is, because I would very much like to visit again. The beds were cozy and the admosphere too. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that in our room there was no cold water in the sink and also that on the outside of the building you could not see where the rooms were. You could only see where rooms in the smaller building were.
- Chen (7/5): Good -
- Viswanathan (2/5): Please DO NOT STAY here as they don't bother to clean room or change bedspreads before we check in - Not available None of the bedsheets or linen/bed spreads were changed. All the dirty bed spreads clothes etc were lying down on the floor. The room was very dirty. None was present to help with the room. When we have asked the question to the staff later there was no appropriate response.
- Jagoda (8/5): Very good - Free tea and coffee
Well-equipped kitchen
Self check in
Clean
Towels included
Shower gel included
Warm
No noise in the hostel Far away from Reykjavik
Garbage dump nearby (bad smell)
- Wieland (10/5): every data came in time after the booking, before arrival. Very recommandable... - easy self chek in. Every data came prior to arrival.. I had no contact to the manager, because everything was correct. They have arrived in the 21st century, Building has a certain vintage charme. internet was without password. Paradise for hackers.
- Valentina (9/5): Spacious, clean and very well equipped! - Big room, comfortable bed. Everything was very clean. Kitchen with all you can need and very well organized. Lot of spaces to relax and enjoy the free time. it is a bit isolated, so a car is needed.
- Al-waleed (7/5): Good -
- Viktoria (8/5): Very good - Spacious, warm shower, quiet, basic but good value. Missed not having a bed lamp for reading at night.
- Una (8/5): Very good -
- Joseph (1/5): It was okay - Nothing to be honest but if you really looking something cheap and just a place to stay for a night then it will fit your taste It was an old hospital converted as bnb
- Annastacia (8/5): Interesting stay! - The place is huge and very spacious. It has over 40 rooms maybe more. The room was comfortable and had a great big kitchen that could handle anything. The showers were huge and plenty of toilets. Our room had its own sink which was nice for being able to brush teeth in room. The living areas were large and plenty. When we first pulled up, there was only one other car, so we basically had the whole place to ourselves until around 0900pm and then about 7 more cars were there and we didnt even notice until we went ti kitchen. The instructions to get in were easy. The scenery around it was beautiful. We used it as a stop after doing the Snaefellsness Peninsula before going to airport next day! Although it is 1 hour from airport it was best value after a long day and basically just sleeping before going home. It looks very rundown when you pull up and a little scary lol. It is near a waste plant and the path getting there was not on Google maps. Thankfully they had signs outside pointing in right direction. I think a paint job would help it look more appealing. It is about 28 mins from town and mostly gas stations around it. Not sure what it is like during the busy season, but hope it is busier for people on a budget because worth the price.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Særún (10/5): Exceptional - Everything.
I slept very well.
I will come again. I came from a long trip. I was sad that I had to leave to get food. I wished that were a wending mashine with drinks and snakks.
- Ruari (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mikołaj (8/5): Very good -
- Paolo (10/5): Exceptional - We arrived late in the night and check in eas super easy
- M. (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kon (6/5): Passable overall - Nice view from the window
New fridges
"Shining" movie atmosphere (when I arrived nobody was there)
Cheap
Overall clean It's clear this is a budget hostel, but some things are completely baffling. On the second floor, there was no soap or shampoo in the toilet or shower - when I asked, the owner didn’t respond at all (I had to borrow from a neighbor and buy my own the next day). In the single room, there’s absolutely nowhere to put your things - no drawer, no IKEA cabinet, just a chair. Soundproofing? Forget about it. I was unlucky; a group of 20 Spanish revelers was making a racket until late. The road to the guesthouse is decorated with a picturesque pile of construction debris. Overall, considering the price, it’s passable. But a few cheap fixes could drastically improve the experience and boost the rating.
- Katrin (7/5): Hostel, need to know that in advance. - Nice location right next to the water. Principally a good concept, but don‘t call it guesthouse but hostel. It has the charme of a hostel. Sharing bathroom and toilet with 4 to 5 rooms. Shower not separated from toilet. No refill on toilet paper. You have to suffer from other guests not having the same sense of respect for clean and quiet places. Was a bit irritated because being a family of five we were booked in two rooms almost the farthest apart on two different floors possible (we were offered to contact the manager though to change rooms, but already started unpacking). As it seems to have been a former hospital, everything remembers that, the lights, the nurse-call… a bit weird.
- Kp88arjun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yu (9/5): Superb -
- Yuanyuan (9/5): Superb - It is very good. And it seems rebuilt from a hospital?
- Monika (7/5): Close to the city - if you have a car ! -
- Yuanyuan (9/5): Superb -
- Fernando (9/5): Superb - Very clean and the beds are very comfortable. The pillows are extremely comfortable. The distance to the centre of Reykjavik is 20 kms away.
- Yvo (8/5): Value for money - Very basic but all you need: safe, spacy, comfy, clean. Is it a former hospital? Isolated
- Henk (9/5): Nice location - Location was great
- Love (8/5): Very good -
- Connor (3/5): Got what I paid for, would spend extra next time. - Cheapest hotel that gave me my own room. I got what I paid for. The hotel is next to a recycling centre, which gives an unpleasant smell each time you go to and from the hotel.
The walls and door let lots of sound in. When there are large parties in, you will hear them. Staff do not intervene when they’re making noise past 1-2 AM.
Staff members also tried to enter my room at 8:30 AM without knocking or any warning. This was not a pleasant experience. I would recommend you put something in the way of it to avoid this happening in future.
There are not enough bathrooms available per the amount of rooms. I found myself waiting a-lot for folks to finish.
Would I stay here again, no. I would spend a little extra and get somewhere nicer. Might be alright for 1 night.
- Jacobs (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hanna (7/5): Good - It's a big house with big rooms, a big kitchen It was very loud
- 郑 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrikopoulos (10/5): Exceptional - Clean best view BOOK NOW
- Tamas (8/5): It was OK for a night - It was clean and warm despite the cold outside. Good location to see Aurora. Fortunately the heating was OK, the room was warm and comfortable. Side window closing was not possible perfectly, so we felt the outside wind in the room.
- Stephen (5/5): Passable - Bed was comfortable. Room was warm. Didn't see any staff, but easy self check-in. Quiet. Clean enough for my tastes. Strange location in a semi-industrial area down a road absolutely covered in potholes. It did the trick for one night, but for the price, definitely nothing outstanding about the area. The building seemed a bit faded, even haggard. Room smelled fine, but there was bizarre odor in the hallways.
- Graham (7/5): Good is good.bad was disappointing - Great place for potential aurora spotting. Warm and clean. Lots of land in the area around. Great kitchen and common areas. No tv’s (yes!). Good value. Two negatives. My fridge area was “raided” by unknown persons and gin & my tonic and Iberian ham taken.
Also on second morning, the fire alarm went off for like an hour between 8-9am. No one around to stop it.
- Dietz (7/5): Good place - Comfortable beds A little depressing, white walls, a sink two beds and a chair...
- Hall (7/5): Good - Cheap and comfy! It's pretty out of the way and I'm pretty sure it's a retrofitted hospital? Weird vibes but still works.
Also, the staff are very strict about check out times, even if you are the only people in the building 😅
- Andy (9/5): Superb -
- Dayangku (7/5): Cheap stay. Good value for money - Comfy bed for the night.
Best spot to see aurora.
Communal kitchen has almost everything People were noisy and since our room is next to the entry door, we can hear guests banging the door all night
I wish they could provide slippers as i can see everyone walking barefood in the hallway and pantry
- Duffield (10/5): View the Northern lights. - Because the guesthouse was a little isolated, it was a good place to see the Northern lights without our view being interrupted by lights. We were lucky enough to see them on the two nights that we were there.
The place had a warm, comfortable feel to it, and I would definitely stay there again. Nothing.
- Sayeed (7/5): Good -
- G,tamas (10/5): Exceptional - There is nothing bad to say.
The cleanliness is excellent, the rooms are the right size, the bed is comfortable, it is warm, the kitchen equipment is sufficient.
The dining room and common area are more than sufficient.
- Tania (9/5): Superb - Simple check in
Confortable bed
Quiet place Pilows
Shower gel
A bit isolated, without any food near
- Luca (9/5): Superb -
