Darren (3/5): They had no interest in the quality of our stay. Only interested in taking the money. - Holes in the walls. One of the rooms we booked had no hot water and the oven didn’t work. Charged £150 as a deposit that wasn’t shown on booking.com and then took nearly 2 weeks to send that back. Only after asking numerous times. Didnt give a discount for the room that had no hot water or oven. Key safes are literally the number two f each apartment so you can’t leave the keys in the safe for others.
Susan (8/5): Very clean and comfortable stay in a great location close to seafront - A great location and spotlessly clean, the decor is being refreshed but everything in the apartment was well serviced. (No broken bits) we got a parking space and easy access to flat. We met one of the new owners who was very amiable and easy to talk too. The lady on the phone was also very helpful. I got my deposit back also. The wifi was awful which is apparently pretty standard for Torquay but it’s being upgraded to fibre optic now so should be much better for next time.

Benjamin (1/5): Disastrous, nearly ruined our holiday - No redeeming qualities. WiFi was not working at all. Host was aware and didn't care. The place was not cleaned and filthy. There was a stray sock on the floor, random trash visible, including a container with pills, likely drugs. There was mould in the bathroom. Several items were damaged most notably the blinds so you couldn't get the bedroom to be dark. Couldn't verify if the TV worked because the remote was covered in a sticky substance. Also we agreed with the host to move out and be refunded remaining days. We accepted to pay for the first day purely to make them amendable. Instead they first agreed, then ghosted us. A month later the refund is still missing.

Petra (4/5): Würde es nicht weiterempfehlen! - Es wird ein Parkplatz angeboten, das Haus hat einen Aufzug und Danny der Hausmeister oder Besitzer (?) war sehr freundlich und bemüht. Auf den Fotos sah alles besser aus. In der Unterkunft war es einigermaßen sauber. Leider war sehr viel beschädigt, die Küche war sehr schlecht ausgestattet, es stank permanent nach Fäkalien und die Matratzen waren voller gelber Fecken. Wir haben uns dort sehr unwohl gefühlt und sind auch früher abgereist.
Faraz (5/5): It was definitely not a luxurious experience, as one would expect from the advertised name of the apartment:( - Location was great , walking distance from the beach and fair on display 1.Underground flat. We were first offered Flat 2 for an 8 day stay on our working holiday trip with a family of 3: This is underground! No phone reception and no internet and no direct sunlight! The staff did agree for us to move to a different one as there was an option and availability. I am dreading how we would have coped if there was no other available flats to move to. 2.Internet. Despite being moved to a different flat mainly for the internet- the wifi was extremely temperamental and unreliable. We had to use our phone internet hotspots for essential video calls which caused lot of inconvenience. At this stage we stopped complaining and got on with it waiting for the days to pass quickly. 2. Cleanliness. The fans were covered with dust and dirt. My wife had to physically clean it off as temperatures were soaring during our stay. 3. The parking. Absolutely impractical for large cars and 4x4 like mine! Unless it’s old enough to take a scratch and dent on the bonnet from the stone wall. They did help to allow parking in the last bay which is the only place my car could easily reverse back into but again in case of full capacity I see no option but to park somewhere outside and pay for it separately.

Told us that if we weren’t out by 10.20am, he would charge us £75 We were packed and ready to leave, but just waiting for my brother to come back from the shop. The way he spoke to me, I thought, was a bit unnecessary.
Barrington (8/5): - The location is close to town and the surrounding bay, and the bed is very comfortable, and the property is very clean and tidy. The property is very close to the traffic light and can be very noisey when the vehicle pulling off from the light. The property needs a fan because it's gets very hot cause you cannot open the windows because of the noise from vehicle from the road. Also the dinning table chairs are very gabby, and a lot of glitters on the sofa, and the ironing board would be nice if it got a cover on it.

Helen (9/5): Great place to stay in Torquay - Well presented , clean and pleasant accommodation. Every amenity required for a comfortable enjoyable stay . Bed was so comfortable. Kitchen well kitted out . Handy secure outdoor area for dogs to do their business. Excellent position within easy walking distance of the harbour, main shopping area , several restaurants and takeaways. Easy reach of local beaches and great outdoor park to walk dogs Great parking space just outside apartment included in the price which was reasonable . Next to a hotel with leisure facilities including a pool that can be used by visitors for a charge . I have to say I was so very well impressed with the standard of this apartment for the price paid and the fact it was dog friendly. If being picky the outdoor area could be spruced up a bit as there were weeds and flaking paint which detracted from the entrance to this lovely apartment. Also a larger TV would be a bonus but not a necessity.

Claire (9/5): Massive apartment, great location. - The size of the apartment was huge, plenty of storage space in the bedroom. Location was great. The double bed was comfy but extremely creaky.
Steffen (8/5): eigentlich alles sehr gut, leider negativ das ausgefallene WiFi - gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis gute Lage, relativ Zentral und 10 Minuten fußläufig zum Bahnhof sowie 10 Minuten fußläufig Reisebusbahnhof (coach station), nette Pups in 5 Minuten Umkreis, Weg in Innenstadt oder Hafen/Küste ca. 10-15 Minuten. Wohnung ist relativ groß und somit auch für Familie geeignet, Duschwasser war immer schnell angenehm warm, gemütliches Sofa, Elternschlafzimmer schön eingerichtet mit Massivholzschrank und Schreibtisch, Betten sehr bequem, Zugang Kinderschlafzimmer über Elternschlafzimmer, Kinderschlafzimmer hat schönes Massivholzstockbett, -Kommode und -Nachtschränkchen. Bad groß genug, dass sich 2-3 Personen gleichzeitig dort aufhalten können. Insgesamt schön eingerichtet, Möbel in den Schlafzimmern und Esstisch aus Massivholz! Wifi war entgegen Beschreibung nicht verfügbar (offiziell Probleme mit Netzanbieter), dass ist natürlich sehr ärgerlich!!! ansonsten eher Kleinigkeiten: Ausstattung mit Küchenutensilien: es fehlten Schere, Messbecher, größere Rühr-Schüssel für Kochen/Backen bzw. für Salat. Alles andere war aber vorhanden (Küchenmesser, Schäler, Korkenzieher usw.). Kein Staubsauger und Wischutensilien (Eimer, Wischmob) vorhanden. Ist ärgerlich, wenn man nach dem Kochen, Essen oder im Eingangsbereich die Krümel/Schmutz wegmachen will.

Kitchen could have a bit more utensils like egg lifter , maybe some plastic cups & plates for children. It can also do with blockout blinds in room especially in summer.

Sharon (8/5): Good sized apartment - Big apartment with 2 bedrooms, booked at short notice. Dishwasher, plenty of towels, majority of it clean. Drain smell coming from bathroom, mold around inside shower, dishwasher not fixed in properly at top so top rack kept sliding forward. Some baking trays had residue left on them, and other small cleaning issues.

Molly (5/5): Won’t book again. - Upon arrival we were unable to access the property for well over an hour. When we were finally able to make contact after having been sat out side we were told our contact numbers were incorrect but that had been messages sent prior to the host from myself which had been received. The location is brilliant, very close to the see front. The property was not clean, there was a lot of mould in the shower tray, resulting in us having to shower in flip flops which wasn’t ideal given we had paid a lot of money. We booked the accommodation from 3pm, however couldn’t gain access until gone 4:30. Also on the booking it says no smoking however at the time of our stay there was a large group also staying who persistently smoked right outside the door, often leaving the door open which meant the smell travelled in. The large group were often making a lot of noise until the early hours of the morning, shouting/banging ect, which made it quite difficult to get our daughter to sleep.

Annie (9/5): Family trip to Torquay - Conveniently located. Large and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen. Clean apart from smell mentioned below. WiFi didn't work in main room. However it did work in the bedroom. Slight smell of animals having stayed in apartment was apparent for non-animal owners. Apartment is dark due to being in basement. I would go for a floor level apartment in the future. Confusing emails received before arrival about additional deposit to be paid.
Jackie (9/5): We had a lovely stay at Austen apartments and would book again. - Clean, modern, spacious. Great location. Clean towels were delivered when requested, thank you. Quite noisy with traffic all day and night. Difficult to unload and load car with luggage as on a corner with traffic lights and double yellow lines. Kitchen could use oven gloves and chopping board. Details at booking offered toilet paper and toiletries but only one toilet roll and no toiletries.
Katelynn Whatmore (8/5): 1 week beach getaway - The apartment was comfortable and was wonderful for a beach getaway. The location was a quick walk to the beach front and a variety of restaurants,off licences and cafes. We had fantastic communication from staff and most of the amenities available were great! Would definitely recommend austen apartments and would probably stay again ! The staircase leading up to all apartments had a very musty smell which wasn't great as it was the most thing you are exposed too upon entry. The wifi signal was pretty poor whilst being there and the TV was quite outdated with no option to stream.

Ward (3/5): Not luxury - Front door wouldn't shut. Poor range of utensils/crockery oven filthy, light fitting in bedroom insecure & unsafe,WiFi shocking,smart tv free view only. Carpet filthy, push along hoover was full of debris and hair hanging from the bottom. My son found a condom underneath the bunk bed. Bunk beds can only be accessed by small children. Towels had marks on them. This property needs new carpets, a thorough deep clean & maintenance.

Ashadur (1/5): - N/a Austen apartment has frauded me of estimated £650. I made a booking with 2 apartments. 1 had parking (apartment 10), and 1 did not (apartment 9). I wanted to change apartment 9 for apartment 8, which had parking. Upon trying to change this on through booking.com, I was not given an option to do so despite apartment 8 being available. I was unable to contact the property with the number listed on the listing as it does not ring even to this day. I was only offered to cancel apartment 9 only with a status saying cancel without fee, which I had done and booked apartment 8. Now I am being told that if there is a cancellation, I get no refund. I was not offered the apartment even though it was fully paid for, and, in turn, after trying to depute this over the last few weeks, I get no response back from the property. Booking.com also fails to understand the floor in this advertisement, and no one wants to accept responsibility. I am am advised this is the property policy, and if I wanted to change a room, I should have called the apartment. However, the number is incorrect! This is an absolute fraud in taking my money for something I had not used!.

Great location, really awesome holiday! - Jo the manager was extremely helpful at Austens Apartments after I had had an awful experience with another property where the owner was uncontactable and no access, and spent 2 hours on phone to Booking.com to find an alternative. Only slight issue was there was no hairdryer, and I could not find a single shope that sold one, so i looked like Crystal Tips for the holiday.

Ashadur (6/5): Ash - Location Parking available Has lift Spacious Modern look Quality appliances Small shower cubicles and some TLC are required around fixing tiles, etc, as this is advertised as being luxury. No smart TV and for a luxury apartment, this should be fairly standard and the size of the TVs to match the size of the living space. Carpets could do with a deep, clean Doors handles on the entrance to the apartment loose. Could do with a modern touch. Maybe invest better mesh wifi for better coverage as there are black spots around the apartment. Checkout times should be specified for different seasons as I was advised to checkout at 10 am, and in my booking, it stated 11am. After raising this query, I was told I could check out at 11 am. Sofas worm out. Mattress was a little u comfortable but bearable.

Minara (8/5): Overall, a lovely spacious apartment! Great location - The Apartment is in an great location, just a few minutes walk to the beach. We booked a apartment 6 which came with parking. The aprt was clean, spacious and gad everything we needed for a comfortable stay! Bathroom was a little on the small side but the shower was spacious and lovely to use. The double room was a good size, the twin room was a little small but sufficient, the living room was lovely and big , my kids loved the open plan style and we thoroughly enjoyed out stay at the apartment.😁 Apartment 6 - 1. the front door would have made us feel safer and comfortable if there was a double lock on the inside, 2. the door draft cover at the bottom was a little broken on one side. 3. we didnt use the bins provided in the flat and used the black bin bag for all our rubbish ( the kitchen bin was quite dirty on the outside and looked like it hadnt been cleaned by the previous users!) (not sure who was supposed to clean it but it was not clean when we arrived! ) 4. Just a little suggestion- the bathroom need a little TLC- some re-siliconing around the shower base would have felt cleaner 🙂 5. We are a family of 5 so we needed to use the sofabed aswell, the sofa was really easy to pull out and use, we found the duvet and pillows in the double room wardrobe, the downside was the covers had not been changed and smelled! My son had to use on the first night because it was very late to have anything done about it, i did message the contacts i had (Jo and Jill) they were great and quick to respond!! The next morning by 10am the cleaner/agents came and changed the bedding for the sofa bed! I was really impressed by the quick action. Thank you

Terri (9/5): Great bank holiday stay. - Stayed in apartment no 2 Great location with parking. Spacious and comfortable apartment. Well-stocked cutlery, plates. Tea, coffee, biscuits welcome pack a nice touch. Safe gated outdoor patio was ideal for the puppy. Easy access, great communication. Only a couple of minor things An indoor front door mat especially on wet days would be good Also, a curtain/net to the archway of the shared bedroom would be better to add a level of privacy. An outdoor bench/seating. There is so much potential for the patio, and some garden touches as noticed this is at the front of the property but not back.

Samantha (9/5): Great location, comfy apartment. - Loved the location and the general comfort of the apartment. Beds were comfy and show was fantastic. Sofa was also comfy and plenty of room to eat and prepare food. Bonus was an unexpectedly large fridge and freezer - which was fantastic for self catering. Really good value for money, meant that we could get away for break with our teens and not feel cramped during the times when we just fancied relaxing rather than going out. TV and DVD player also great and a controllable thermostat. Daughter loved that there was a dressing table in their room. Second bedroom was spacious enough but not enough room for hanging space. Despite being an attic apartment there was plenty of light coming in. Close to a bakers, take-aways and a small shop, walking distance to main shopping and seafront, on a couple of bus routes and walking distance (12 mins) to train station, and swimming pool (6 mins). Tiny lift to 3rd floor, but was great for luggage and shopping...less grumbling from the teens because they didn't have to carry their bags up 3 flights!! Very small niggles - somewhere to hang wet coats would have made a lot of difference, just coat hooks in the hall would have been great, or maybe on the wall by the cleaning cupboard so they dripped onto the kitchen floor. Also a bit more crockery and cutlery would have been helpful. As I said, very small niggles in an otherwise fantastic flat.
