Guest Reviews
- Sunidhi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ashwin (10/5): Pristine homestay - Pristine location in the wilderness....
Middle of a coffee estate....
Host Ryan was very friendly and took good care of the guests..
Morning walk in the estate and water falls are an additional attraction...
Nice bonfire and drizzle for our evening drinks and dinner..
- Pradeep (8/5): Very good -
- Vijay (9/5): Superb -
- Avinash (10/5): Exceptional - A perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Old world charm in the heart of nature.
Recommended if you're willing to detach from your phone and get offline!!
- Meghana (9/5): Amazing experience for neutralising your physical and mental well-being - Off beat place with beautiful house and hosts to take care. Also a great getaway for digital detoxing. Food options are limited as the place is remote and in house kitchen is not active so food comes from outside.
- Padmaja (9/5): Stargazing, peace, trekking, greenery, estate living and an antique vibe is everything this stay is - Stargazing from this homestay's terrace was the most memorable moment during our stay. Witnessed fireflies after a long time. We were completely immersed in the greenery and local feel of Chikmagaluru. The property is located in the Lobo family's 100-year-old coffee estate, so we could experience what it feels like to stay in an estate. We trekked to a sweet stream and a little waterfall that flows through the estate. Watched coffee, pepper, jackfruit, avocado plantations. The homestay is built beautifully with antique vibes and lovely architecture. We travelled with my 7-month-old infant, and we had no issues with his comfort during the stay. We had wholesome home-cooked meals. The owner Ryan and the caretaker Santosh, both were supportive and made our stay comfortable. This place is perfect for a group of 8-10 guests whether its a family outing or a friend's gathering. Also, the peace is favorable for readers, writers, painters, artists, and people who want a break from the city. Unavailability of network
- Karthick (9/5): Superb -
- Narayan (8/5): Very good -
- Mohan (9/5): Superb - The homestay is located in a beautiful place covered by lush greenery. The place is well maintained and the staff are also very polite and responsive. The food is also good and worth the money. The road leading to the building should be improved.
- Nandini (6/5): Stay in nature, basic amenities required - As promised, it is indeed in the midst of nature, completely surrounded by trees in the estate. You wake up listening to birds and at night you get bonfire with clear sky. Lack of privacy, there is one dining table which can accomodate only one group at a time, so basically you have to take turns. The location is great but mind you if you want to do some sightseeing, everything is 20kms away except the sunset point. The rooms really could use a geyser, its not really a luxury thing..a basic one. Also, on our 2nd day there was an issue with supply of water and it ate half our day. Staff and wifi(no network) is good though. I guess its good only for a group who can take the entire bunglow.
- Saravana (10/5): Best location - The location was awesome, the host spent decent time with all the guests by conducting games, efforts on taking us to the coffee tours and couple.private streams, camp fires, music, all was good in the middle of the coffee estate.
The location was very pleasant and the telescope was available to watch the moon from the terrace, this estate was at least 100 years old and well maintained, all other staff were super friendly. Had decent wifi all the time. If you want to get lost in the woods, come here. bhadra tiger reserve is around 15 mins in car and have maladhur shootimg spot and sunset view points, just njoy the locations and games for kids available in th property, my 9 years old son liked the property very much as he won the coffee pack in the housy game hosted by Ryan with the sarbath in th hand.
I would strongly recommend trying this once, they do have other properties called Writers Retreat, this is even super kool property behind this. In our room, there was no mirror to dress up in my given room (Unfortunately it is only for us I believe other rooms have it) and the food was excellent for non-veg and it was average for my wife as a non chicken eater.
There is a common fridge in the living room however it was used by some guests at ease and not transparent and not user friendly for us as we are not sure we can use it or not. It would have been more transparent there and given some clarity during check-in time. We were ready to pay anyways.
Maybe due to vintage property or not sure, there are no attached toilets in the room and you have to walk out for a few steps (its private no worries there) and this was not comfortable at times and it's the same for all rooms as well.
Overall these are just feedback for improvements in a nutshell, this is the best in the given locality. Just go for it 😀
- Deepak (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karan (9/5): Had a memorable stay at Siderbhan. Very nice host and the caretakers. Wonderful environment overall. - Location, hospitality, Serene environment, waterfall in the vicinity, coffee estate. Nothing as such.
- Kavita (8/5): Home away from home. - Ambience is beautiful, green and a lovely running stream ,clean and tasty homemade food,Ryan was the perfect caring host.An overall informal ,friendly and comfortable stay. The last 300 metres stretch to the homestay can be made more user friendly and less challenging,at least the first time climb.
- Poojitha (10/5): Exceptional - Property, views, food and host were brilliant. Would highly recommend.
- Nayak (10/5): Exceptional - The location was amazing. The host and the staff were the best to take care of their guests. NA
- Bhabesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Orie (9/5): A peaceful and relaxing stay - A perfect place if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and find some peace of mind. If you're a person who appreciates the beauty of simplicity, you will surely love it here.
- Haneesh (9/5): Superb - I recently stayed at Siderbhan Homestay with my family for one day, and we had a wonderful experience. The homestay is located in a beautiful coffee plantation in Chikmagalur, and it is the perfect place to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
The rooms at Siderbhan Homestay are spacious and clean, and they have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The homestay also has a common area with a fireplace, where you can relax and enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains.
The food at Siderbhan Homestay is delicious and home-cooked, and it is made with fresh, local ingredients. We especially enjoyed the traditional Karnataka dishes.
The staff at Siderbhan Homestay are friendly and welcoming, and they are always willing to help. They were happy to give us recommendations for things to do in the area, and they even helped us arrange a private tour of a coffee plantation.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Siderbhan Homestay, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable getaway. Hot water facility should have been better.
Also, more billboards needed to guide you to the property.
- Shashi (8/5): Good 😊 - Property, staff and the location of the property Lack of privacy, variety of foods.
- Sudhakar (10/5): Fantastic Experience. A true Homestay in the middle of a coffee estate. - It's a wonderful property inside a large coffee estate. It's in the middle of a forest and we were surprised that there was quite fast internet. The food was fantastic and the host was just a message away. All our meals were part of the reservation. The property is worth it as you pay for staying inside an estate surrounded by nature. The rivers inside the estate were magical. Everything was great
- Utkarsh (7/5): Good -
- George (9/5): All in all our experience @ The Siderbhans was adventurous, thrilling & splendid! 😍 - The much pleasant & comfortable homestay @ The Siderbhans of Chikmagalur is an ideal getaway for the summers, for nature lovers & wild-life enthusiasts. And if for none of these one can just relax with Wi-Fi & fresh air 🤗
This cozy cottage overlooks the spectacular silver oak trees & hills reaching for the sky. We enjoyed a spontaneous trek to the stream in the pure wilderness of its vast coffee estate - a nail-biting adventure of all sorts which included narrow escaping from the leeches.
This magnificent home is located in the heart of all the tourist attractions.
The porch & the terrace overlooking the greenery is a perfect setting for relaxing in the evenings with bonfire after a long day of sightseeing.
We are grateful to Ryan (owner of Siderbhan Homestay) and the Manager Santosh for the hospitality. Their cuisine served us fresh & family- friendly food which can please any palate.
All in all our experience @ The Siderbhans left us happy & contented! 😍 One needs to be careful of the leeches when you go out in the coffee estate, however Santosh did care of the same and informed us well.
- Chinmay (9/5): Certainly Recommended. It's a no brainer just go ahead and book it. Serene, hospitable & Accessible - >The stay is located in absolutely beautiful and a huge coffee estate complete with it's own stream and water falls
> Haven't met a more welcoming, honest and caring host like Ryan
> The breakfast and lunch is genuine local food. Clean, delicious and fulfilling
>The staff is polite and prompt
> Hidden Gem - The big roof where you can see all the stars owing to no lights anywhere around. You could probably capture the milky-way on long exposure
>The stay is located comparatively closer to the Bhadra Tiger Reserve and other worldly view points.
>The place is not luxurious but is definitely homely
> The other co-guests who share the house are also no bother Wi-Fi could be better within the house in all the rooms . Heyy, one can obviously avoid being on the internet, but when there is no telecom network reception at the property you need something with which you can make calls. Wi-Fi is there and has a pretty good bandwidth, just the range could be better. No complaint's really.
The staff , Santosh, helped me with his mobile hotspots when I couldn't connect for a call with my team at work.
- Srinivas (10/5): Decent place for the weekend! - Very homely. Good home cooked food. No mobile network which was a good thing to disconnect. Very friendly workers and the property Manager Santosh was sweet.
- Ranjeet (10/5): Homestay Paradise! Best homestay in Chikmagalur - Siderbhan homestay is situated near the forest and just 25 km from Chikmagalur city! The property is situated in around 50 acres coffee estate and is almost 110 years old. A big shout out to the Host Ryan for making our stay memorable.
Highlights of the property:
The property has 50 acres of coffee plants. Also the villa is old one. The rooms are near and clean. The food served was amazing home cooked food.
Estate tour:
The owner, Ryan is super knowledgeable person and we could talk on different topics right from politics to nature to films. We also played guitar at night and had a beautiful bonfire arranged along with soft music.
Value for money:
I am super happy with my stay at Siderbhan estate. The villa has 3 cottages and i would definitely visit the place again along with my friends and family Nothing as such! Over my stay was wonderful
- Tomjacob61 (10/5): An interesting experience - Amazing location, Walk through the estate, the authentic local food, hospitality of the property owners, overall the stay in the coffee plantation was an awesome experience.
It is also close to other tourist locations namely Halebeedu, Belur, BHADRA TIGER RESERVE, Mullayanagiri etc. Nothing really
- Dexter (10/5): Perfect get away - The entire experience was outstanding. Living amidst nature, waking up to view of tall trees and mountains in front of you, chirping of birds, sound of flowing stream.... And all of this from the comfort of a cozy home. What more can you ask for a vacation.
Ryan is a super host and he goes all out to ensure his guests are comfortable. Food was super amazing... Home cooked, fresh and so yummy.
The bonfire
, gazing at stars and twinkling fireflies on the tress, and tour to the coffee estate will take you out of a city life for sure.
Perfect weekend getaway...and a great vacation stay for those who want to explore around Chikmagalur.
Will definitely be back!!! To leave the place 😋
- Reception (10/5): Paradise!! - The best decision we have made to book Siderbhan homestay for our holidays.. This place is best for all age group, the comfort, the hospitality, the stay everything was superb. The homestay has 2 streams and a beautiful waterfall. My son enjoyed every bit of our stay. Morning and evening are so beautiful there... away from the hustle bustle of the city. If you want to have a relaxed and rejuvenated holiday then this place is best for you.
