Guest Reviews
- Yorkshireroj (10/5): - Great communication from owners. Good location. Clean and tidy. Comfy beds. Great place for our overnight stop whilst visiting relatives. Needs more plates, cups, cutlery etc in kitchen.
- Danielle (10/5): - Key box was a little bit stiff but we got there after a few minutes

- Zuraidah (9/5): - Place is clean and warmth. Toilets come complete with bidet. We explore the city which is abt 15mins drive away before checking in. Wish we have more days to enjoy the garden in daylight. Could do with more mirrors apart from the one in the top bedroom. The mirrors at the main toilet is not at eye level.
- Oluwaseun (9/5): -
- DALJIT (10/5): Good, competitively priced accommodation. - Bus ride from City or cheap uber.
Spacious
Good facilities, good kitchen facilities The bathroom could do with a refresh but it was clean and functional.

- Sheena (8/5): - Host was very helpful the location is great so close to Sherwood It states it a bungalow but the main bedroom was on the second floor which wasn’t ideal as my mother in law has mobility issues the is however a bed down stairs but no where to place clothes so we had to buy a cloths rail as we were there for a month
- Judith (10/5): - It was comfortable and very clean
- david (10/5): Excellent value for money and great host - Host very helpful and made sure we got in with ease. Also offered to return a jacket we had accidently left.

- wendy (9/5): Great host and value for money, would stay again - Great location for Sherwood and surrounding area. Communication with the host was great and fabulous views from the garden Nothing really,
- Nurhuda (10/5): We had a very comfortable stay. Facilities are exceptional - Everything about the property ie very good Nothing
- Ian (9/5): Enjoyable stay - Lovely spacious bungalow very old fashioned in someways but very charming. Excellent informative hosts , quiet location, ample parking, nice outdoor areas close to amenities would recommend. Personally we found the upstairs mattress on the bed a bit on the soft side but that was about it.
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - Very spacious, clean and full of amenities Struggled to find it to start with but after a call to the owner it was quickly sorted
- Linda (9/5): Clean, comfy and great value for money - Great communication from host. Clean and perfect for our stay Nothing
- Tyrone (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
- Wendy (4/5): Incredibly disappointing - It’s location and lounge space. The electricity cut out excessively whilst cooking our Christmas meal. The upstairs bedroom was unclean: many hairs on sheet, stained seating, basic bedding. Downstairs bedroom does not have a door. Could not lock/unlock front door from inside and parking in their driveway challenging and limited as other cars in drive (plus the incline is very steep). No dish towels, no plug for the sink, used hairbrushes and used toiletries. Extremely disappointing. This is my first unsatisfactory review having used Booking for many years.
- Joanne (4/5): Great location, disappointed with the accommodation. - The best thing about this property is the location, extremely convenient for accessing the city centre and local attractions.
When we did have to speak to the host they were very friendly and we do appreciate their assistance. Parking on the driveway is challenging at best. We have a baby and needed the parking but in hindsight a short walk to road parking may have been better. The TV wasn’t tuned, we had to connect to WiFi every time and could only watch on demand. As someone else has mentioned some advice on using the ‘smart’ tv would be helpful. We also didn’t see any other useful information for the property and local area which would help.
It did feel like someone had been living there, half empty toiletries left in the shower, hairs in the shower tray and half a milk left in the fridge. There were personal items left here and there - in the shoe cupboard in the entrance way and in the unit in the living room. The toilet in the en-suite is useful but the floor was wonky, the door took force to shut properly and where the toilet is positioned it is easy to bump your head! We had requested a cot so we were expecting it to be set up with linen. We found it in the wardrobe and had to get a sheet out (there was a pair of socks wrapped in the sheet) we could only find a double sheet, couldn’t find any cot sized linen.
There are bits of the property that seem tatty or unfinished. The blinds in the living room are missing slats and don’t meet properly. The floor is very uneven in places and under the kitchen mat there was a big gap in the tiles. The glass doors meant we could see the motion sensors flashing and in the living area there were lots of sharp corners with the glass tables - I wouldn’t feel comfortable bringing a toddler with all the glass.
The external door in the downstairs room needs a curtain and the door to outside needs to be able to lock. My older daughter felt unsafe in this room especially as we couldn’t lock the external door from the inside & just had to use the chain. The oven is clean but we couldn’t find an oven glove! Plus the two times we used it (reheat croissants!) the fuse for the sockets tripped! There were towels but they were very small. No plug in sink.
- Hugh (10/5): I would gladly stay again at Hillcrest Bungalow if I need accommodation in the Sherwood/Mapperley area. - Starting with the location, all things considered Hillcrest Bungalow was perfect for our needs. The host, Shahid, was very helpful and responsive to queries. I didn’t dislike anything about the property. As suggestions, maybe include a separate bin for waste which can be recycled, and provide instructions for how to use the smart TV.
- Paul (8/5): Good location - Great location, very easy to get into and back from Nottingham city centre.
Loads of useful facilities in the bungalow has everything you could possibly need. As has been previously suggested maybe a curtain over the glass for the downstairs bedroom to block out external light.
Couple of minor cleanliness issues:
Sugar bowl clearly hadn't been checked or cleaned for a while as it had a dirty spoon in it which looked like it had been there for some time.
Balloon found under downstairs bed which meant the room hadn't been cleaned properly after previous guest(s)
- Yuk (7/5): Good - Though hard to park by the house on hillside, there are still parking spaces by the road down the slope. The bed upstairs is too soft and a bit worn out.
- Heather (9/5): Cozy, comfortable and clean -
- Tina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely bungalow warm and cozy, beds really comfortable and a nice hot shower would definitely stay again and would recommend to other travellers the host really nice thankyou shahid for everything see you again Nothing
- Nonso (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (7/5): The place was comfortable & had everything we needed for the one night stay - Great location, comfortable had most appliances & essentials needed Could have been a bit cleaner the a few of the appliances we wouldn’t have used as extremely dirty, patio doors were difficult to shut, blinds in lounge weren’t great & first bedroom as you walk in the property could have done with something covering the door window
- Chloe (8/5): Enjoyed our stay but would of liked to of been provided with some towels so we could shower - Bedroom upstairs was lovely and spacious and so was the dining room with plenty of areas for seating. Ground floor bedroom was right next to the kitchen and had no door and no towels provided
- Kristaps (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jayne (10/5): Exceptional - Very spacious and loved that it was a fully furnished house with everything we needed.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - Couldn't want for anything else in property. To much in front room (for us) we did have toddler.Drive way a bit awkward for parking.
- Sean (9/5): Superb -
- Mr (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (10/5): This is a terrific place to stay, I would highly recommend a visit! 10 / 10 all day every day : ) - The view from the property is outstanding, it was absolutely glorious, I wish we stayed longer! Its well located for bus routes into the city centre. We felt at home almost right away. Great wi fi, easy to login to my Netflix account. We loved everything, we have nothing to report that we didn't like. At all. This is a brilliant place to stay, there is absolutely nothing bad to say!
