- Lucja (1/5): Probably the worst hostel experience we’ve had yet - I feed bad for fellow backpacker who live here full time while work - The location wasn’t ideal, it wasn’t made clear that the other property was 10 mins away, thankfully we had a car. The room was okay, we booked a double bed but ended up with a 4 man bunk bed room which we had to ourselves. The kitchen amenities were AWFUL, dirty kitchen, 1 gas stove that didn’t work and absolutely no pots, pans or plates available. No dish cloths, sponges or tea towels, we couldn’t even clean the table to sit down and eat. Thankfully we bought some leftovers from home in plastic containers and could heat them up in the microwave. Definitely won’t be coming back.
- Giulia (6/5): Nice - Friendly staff and guests (all of them were backpackers like us), large outside space to sit, chill, meet other guests, free small breakfast Very strong smell of mold in the room, no equipment to cook in the kitchen (bring your own pots, dishes utensils, etc.)
- Elisabeth (4/5): Disappointing -
- Oliver (1/5): Woeful - Well, first of all, we didn’t get the room we reservatet, because it was somehow already booket when we showed up. Second of all, the house we were then thrown into, was not clean. My mate got bedbugs, from sleeping in their bed. Overall the worst hostel we stayed at, in our time in Australia
- Andrew (1/5): Bad - Nothing it was shit Dirty and Gross
- Gyeongil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joyce (1/5): Didn't because it's a farce. I asked for my money back - I didn't get to check in service is shit. Your Backpackers accommodation was a dismal place. I'm a supervisor from Mad Monkey Coogee and your crap place is a failure!!!@ Everything
- Leeson (3/5): Poor -
- Denise (6/5): Pleasant -
- Andrew (7/5): Good -
- Paul (1/5): Hopeless & useless management & unable to access room after hours & replied late when I called! - Nothing! The fact that the management left a swipe card for me to access the room after hours and I wasn't able to gain access into the room and was left without accommodation overnight. Not impressed!
- Debbie (1/5): It's over - Good water pressure Cleanliness, no locking showers, bed springs instead of mattresses. Not informed that our free breakfast was not available on Sundays
- Peter (1/5): Bad - Nothing I booked a room in town
But they tried to give me room 3k from where I booked on the other side of the river with no transport
They advised that I should walk there
This was after i was released from the cardiac unit at royal Brisbane
They suck i slept on the lounge
Because I didn't have anywhere else to stay and this cost me $64
No room to be satisfied with
- Arianna (1/5): Bad - Nothing Everything dirty dust everywhere the rooms smell bad

- Isabella (6/5): Maybe alright on a weekday - The staff/owners were really nice and helpful, very good central location I stayed on a Saturday, BIG MISTAKE!! it was the noisiest place I think I’ve ever stayed, it was so loud it gave me a headache and I could hear it over my earphones on full blast 😳
- Edwina (3/5): Poor -

- Shar (10/5): Affordable, Clean, Great Location I am looking forward to staying again - It was a great experience, thoroughly enjoyed my stay, the free breakfast consisting of a Latte and BLT was amazing
- Damon (9/5): Most people know and where Tomato Backpackers is located - Location. Kitchen. Showers No upper floor restroom. Far to walk to the restroom.
- Owyn (5/5): Passable -
- Darren (5/5): A good backpackers, handy to the train. - Price and vibe was good. 2 singles beds were asked for and the room had a double bed. The guests start leaving around 3 am using the kitchen facilities and was rather noisy.
- Isobel (4/5): Dirty and disappointing - One option for breakfast. Super dirty establishment. The kitchen was a mess and shared bathroom was revolting.
- Costa (5/5): Passable -
- Niznik (1/5): Would never return, my worst nightmare. - Getting on the bus at 10 pm to get the heck out of there!!!!! Absolutely brutal. So disgusting in every way… the rooms were not clean nor was the bedding!! The kitchen made me nauseous… half eaten food left on cooking tables, overall not clean. Bathrooms didn’t even have hand soap.
- Rowe (1/5): A horrible experience overall ! - Location to town was reasonable. Over crowded by working Chinese and Japanese, who always left the kitchen very dirty.
Rooms were overcrowded and small,
The only available area to eat or relax was a small area like one of those dinning areas on a US prison movie !
- Chacko (1/5): Bad -
- Glen (3/5): Crappy experience - Close location Non English
- Elisabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Colin (8/5): Yes,I will come back, the room I stayed in was very good and quite and trusting,I enjoyed me stay. - The friendly people, trusty and quite.

- Paul (1/5): Bad -
- Teagan (1/5): Bad -
- Bsrbara (6/5): Made me welcome - Price Far from shops
- Taylor (1/5): You get what you pay for - Nothing really Got a room with a door that didn’t lock, as a single women this was scary especially since 80% of the other stayers were men. The owner offered to refund but there was nothing else available. There was no cutlery in the kitchen and it was gross, the room was clean and tidy tho
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Chloe (1/5): Not safe for female traveler's, just book somewhere else. - The only thing that wasn’t horrific was the free breakfast. Everything, honestly do not stay here, it is the worst place I have ever been, filthy and not safe
- Qamar (2/5): Not hood at all - Very unprofessional and disgusting hostel. No cleanliness and smell in rooms Property was average
- Scott (1/5): I did meet some really nice people, that was the only good thing about my stay. - I liked the gym. No alcohol aloud anywhere in hostel. After speaking with residents, found out owner gives $50 fines for minor breach’s of rules. The hostel takes advantage of backpackers needing to be there 88 days for visa. Charges extra for blankets, u don’t even get one. Room was dirty looked like it hadn’t had the floor cleaned in a months. Very expensive I paid $42.30 for a night during winter, after coming from Flashpackers Harvey bay who only charged $28 a night with room bathroom. I only went to Bundaberg to visit rum distillery. This backpackers takes advantage of foreigners without standard English needing visa. Don’t stay there.
- Claudia (7/5): Good -
- Rosemary (4/5): Okay - Guests need to keep it clean N KITCHEN uncleanliness
- Renz (7/5): Great experience - i like the facility, great value for money Parking space could have been wider

- Alexandre (7/5): Good -
- Adrien (8/5): Very good -
- Tracey (6/5): Was ok for what it was Shared with 3 lovely girls - Cheap great complementary BLT & coffee for breakfast Very dirty needs a good clean
- Fergus (1/5): Bad - Nothing I packed my stuff up and left shortly after arriving Crowded dirty and they were not prepared for my arrival at all. No one on the front desk and when they did arrive he told me there were no beds and I had to go to there other property. He drove me there then took me too a cramped room with bunk beds but no mattress for me. Highly recommend avoiding this place unless you are looking to work on one of the farms.
- Aiden (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daule (1/5): Terrible. Room door would not shut so I slept at the door - Didn't do breakfast, didn't sleep at all as thr door would not shut Door would not shut. I slept on the floor as I came with my aged Dad
- Meiran (5/5): Passable - Breakkie was a surprise We were given a room next to the communal area and the room’s got no noise cancellation. People started to use the microwave and washing machine since 5amish and then the facilities kept beeping, which was annoying.
- Meg (6/5): Pleasant -
- Dylan (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (1/5): Unclean - worst hostel ive been to in Australia - Bedrooms were dirty. My bedding was not clean. My bed had no pillows or duvet upon arriving. Unsocial. Stupid rules.
- Caroline (8/5): Very good - The staff are very accommodating and friendly. Rory the Receptionist assisted me to amend a booking and was very helpful. The cleaning are staff are wonderful and always say hello. If you want a delightful Bulgolgi ask James the owner to cook it for you. Very delicious and a traditional Korean meal at its best. The Barista's are wonderful coffee makers. The cafe is a little gem of Bundaberg.
- Josephine (10/5): Enjoyed our stay. Will stay again. - Quiet. Air con was good. Bedcomfy. Stairs to upper floor were filthy
- Hiroyuki (8/5): Very good -
- Jakub (5/5): Passable -
- Hampton (6/5): Pleasant -
- Marie (7/5): Good -
- Sujeong (8/5): Very good -
- Ref (1/5): Uncomfortable - Shower had nice pressure. Everything, solo house share▪︎
Rooms stink like old vomit.
shower had lots of mould, not clean.
Beds uncomfortable, springs stick into your body.
Sheets are used with stains.
No supplies,eg-no shared iron and no glasses..etc.
No internet supplied even after asking, they said "not till Monday when leaving on Sunday, most travellers need internet.
Booked a room and they changed our rooms around, so I asked for room for my daughter near me they couldn't do it so she had to share my room paid $75 for a room for no reason, annoyed, waste of money.
Free breakfast was only sat, not Sunday, and was a waste of time, as food was half the size of my hand and almost broke my teeth on the bread, yuk. Also, if you're vegetarian or gluten-free, don't get free breakfast.
Over all, horrible place to stay.
Don't stay!
- William (1/5): Crap and not worth the money or your time. - The booking was booked twice and they took the money out twice, and I told them why would I book the night twice for us two. Waiting for refund. Or I will take the matter further. As stated above.
- Caroline (9/5): Lovely - The owners - Candice and James are very accommodating and made sure my stay was pleasant. The cafe next door owned by the Tomato Backpackers (James's place) is amazing. Food is delicious and the barista - Tara - makes the most superb coffees. The food is amazing, the eggs benedict is cooked to perfection. All other staff are lovely, the cleaners are professional and offer their assistance if you need anything.
- Caroline (8/5): Very good -
- Vman4217 (1/5): Bad - GUYS DONT BELIEVE A THING ON THERE WEBSITE. ITS ALL BS
THERE ARE NO ROOMS WITH OWN SHOWER AND PRIVATE TOILET,NOT PRIVATE BALCONY.
THEY CHARGED ME 120 ONE NIGHT. YES I GOT A PRIVATE ROOM IN A 4 BUNK ROOM.NO COOKER OR PRIVATE TOILET. I COULD OF GOT THE SAME FOR LEES THAN 90. NO ONE AT RECEPTION HAD TO WAIT HOUR AND HALF 4.30PM
- Tarminya (10/5): perfect spot to stay - Breakfast included.
good accommodation.
affordable pricing. everything was fantastic and welcoming
plenty of communication from staff before I even arrived to make sure i was settled and comfortable
- Rebecca (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (7/5): Good -
- Gavin (7/5): Good -
- Gavin (7/5): Good -
- Warren (8/5): Very good -
- Alice (1/5): As cheap as disgusting - Nothing. Simply awful Dirty place. Trash bins full, sheets and pillows clearly not cleaned. Hair and dirt in toilets and showers. The personnel at reception hardly talk to you. It is cheap but no price is low enough to justify this. I found another accommodation after one night and when I went to pick my stuff my card was not working and there was no one at reception.
I think workers stay there long term.
- Maria (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (7/5): Good - There were problems with getting my payment through (wasn't their fault, I used a german creditcard) and that resulted in a difficult check-in. Luckily, we were able to figure it out the next morning :)
- Alisa (3/5): Worst hostel experience ever - Nothing Incredibly dirty, areas around door handles seemed to have accumulated dirt over years on them, showers and toilets were dirty, kitchen was smelly and dirty. Staff barely turned their heads to talk to us and when we arrived at 19pm, they hadn't even made our beds, which eventually took them an hour. Would have been nice to know that there is no breakfast on Sundays _before_ paying for stay with breakfast.
- 이 (10/5): Exceptional - High quality
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Kai (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laws (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome service Toilets need cleaning 😩
Shower door locks had issues.
- Ashley (10/5): Best - Great place to stay, just opposite the Hinkler Shopping centre and other amenities.
- Enzo (7/5): Good -
- Zaineb (4/5): wouldn't recommend to backpackers - some gym equipment, air con, big kitchen, grocery stores very close prison vibes, staff not that approachable (except daniel !), no shared things in kitchen (not even dish soap or pans), place is more suitable if you wanna work and stay long-term
- Anonymous (10/5): Great stay. Beds are comfy, staff are extremely friendly and helping. Kitchen and bathrooms are massive. Definitely reco - The staff, the rooms and facilities .
