Guest Reviews
- Jennifer (8/5): We enjoyed our stay in this historical former railway hotel. - Historical building - the effort the owner made to make us feel welcome. Netflix was available and many food items from dips to nuts to chocolates were put out for us. The shower needs an upgrade. The trains through the night that blew a whistle 50 m from the house. Why are the messages about restricting water use when there is a huge water tank.
- Rosie (10/5): Fantastic stay, the host had our beds and rooms warmed up on arrival as we got in late. Would highly recommend. - Close to where we needed to stay for our motorbike competition in Melton Mowbray Nothing.
- Tim (10/5): Very enjoyable and informative - Spacious,clean and comfortable N/A
- Jennie (9/5): David our host was super interesting and generous with his time. Especially loved meeting Victor, Billy and Lucy the pet - An interesting building full of history with a very spacious two bedroom, living area and kitchen with everything we needed for a most comfortable stay - thank you. Just might pay to note this home is not in the actual Oakland township (which is just a short 3 min drive away).
- Frances (10/5): Comfortable and fascinating, with a very friendly interesting host - The accommodation was a lovely apartment in a historic building. It has been furnished with consideration for comfort and style . The hosts David and Kathrine had provided enough provisions for a light dinner as well as breakfast, saving us a trip out after the days driving. A full well appointed kitchen was a bonus. David was very pleased to show us around the historic hotel and tell us about its history, which we really enjoyed . Not walking distance to town, but that wasn't a problem.
- Bonnie (10/5): - Comfortable self-contained lodgings with lots of character. A building with a rich historic background and furnished in an eclectic and thematic style. Hosts were very generous and friendly.
- thefishmanisa (10/5): - David was friendly and inviting. Happy to talk about the hotel and Parrattah in general. Has made the place very unique and charming
- Robyn (9/5): - Quirky place to stay, Very accommodating host loves giving you a tour. Lots of stairs are a problem but only went up once and down once.
- Steven (10/5): Very gracious and informative host and huge apartment. - Amazing historical building

- Cecilia (10/5): -
- Brown (10/5): - The old history and charm of the building.
Great place to rest and relax. Entrance not really clear.
It is a shared driveway to the historic railway line that needs to be used. This isn't marked.
- Richard (10/5): - Immensely interesting historic former railway station hotel in a beautiful rural location. Huge apartment equipped with everything you would need. The property was awash with art, antiquities and various objects of interest. The owner David showed us around the hotel , telling us all about it's history. He also introduced us to his many animals. Highly recommend. Nothing
- John (8/5): David was very helpful and provided lots of options for breakfast and snacks. - Mattress was a bit saggy for our liking.
- G & M (9/5): Comfortable, historic building, lovely old buildings and furniture still used today; friendly hosts. - It is a pretty historic railway lodgings being lovingly restored. Close to town (oatlands)- 10 min car ride; Lodgings were a 5 room comfortable apartment with spa bath - breakfast provided. Hosts lovely people. There was not much we didn't like. As it as very comfortable and roomy.

- Janessa (8/5): Was fun but needed a day to explore - Quaint and lots of character Bit isolated but didn’t have time to explore
- Evelyn (7/5): Great to see owners commitment to restoring old hotel. - There were good breakfast supplies and also useful information provided on the nearby Oatlands. We were surprised about the general area where the property is located which is quite run down. We have stayed at previous historic places that were much better presented. Given the price we were a little taken aback by this.
- Gloria (9/5): Love my stay and will tell come back and tell my friends and family to come and stay. - Plentiful, all you needed for breakfast . Love the decor and building and history . Bath, a little high for older travellers . Sign to show entrance otherwise all good .
- Ruth (10/5): Quirky comfortable stay in a bygone era - The enthusiasm of our hosts taking on the renovation of a listed building while providing a comfortable quirky 'apartment' for guests. The extra care given to breakfast food and snacks adds to a welcoming atmosphere. The eclectic furnishings and art work all add to a stay that is a bit out of the ordinary. The sound of the nearby night freight trains only add to the stay. The property has served as a train ticket office, a post office as well as a pub. A bit of bygone era being kept alive.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nigel (10/5): Exceptional - Old word charm and history
- Dianne (7/5): Good - The apartment is reached via a shared downstairs area with the hosts and is a heritage building. We found the hosts provided a great lot of provisions including eggs from their chooks, a loaf of bread and even fruit for our stay which was very generous. If you love trains the building was a railway inn and the trains, come past right out the front which added to the character and charm.
