The house is very beautiful with a big garden full of green. We had an amazing stay we’re definitely gonna come back again !

• Nadezhda (10/5): - We spent three lovely weeks here and found everything wonderful. We celebrated Christmas and New Year’s Eve at Mangroove Homestay. The family truly tries their best to make you feel comfortable. I can honestly say that this place feels very healing. You can observe and interact with the family, participate in their activities, play cricket with the kids, and more. There is a lovely garden around the house where I spent a lot of time. You can meet other travelers or long-term stayers from all around the globe, or make friends with the animals in the garden: monkeys, mongooses, squirrels, monitor lizards, birds, and more.

• Julia (10/5): Exceptional - I can't fault this place . Rooms are clean and big, best value for money in the area. Booked for 2 nights and stayed for my whole time in Sri Lanka. The garden is beautiful and quiet(minus the trains but you get used to them!) and the family is fantastic.I would recommend staying here 🌈
• Isaac (10/5): Exceptional - I had Mangroves Homestay recommended to me by someone as a great place for a long term stay so spent a month here with the family during my time in Sri Lanka and couldn't have asked for a better place to base myself. The rooms are huge, the family is so caring and cooked numerous family dinners for us and also invited us to their New Year's celebrations. There was also a lot of longer term travellers here so there was a really nice sense of community. Would highly recommend for anyone passing through Midigama.
• Rosanna (9/5): Everything good for the price for basic but comfortable and clean and very affordable stay when you are solo travelling. - Great value for own private room and bathroom, clean and tidy and spacious Needed soap for the bathroom and more accessibility to topping up water… no breakfast or offer of coffee in morning. I had a bike so it wasn’t a problem riding up the lane but if you were on foot this could be too much if coming back in the dark.
• Olivia (10/5): Unique and amazing stay with a sri lankan family - Amazing stay at Mangroves, the family has been so available, gentle, welcoming and very spontaneous. They even invited us to join for one of their traditional event. I would come back without any doubt, it has been a unique experience to share the every day life of a sri lankan family.

Nice vibe and easy to meet other travelers. Rooms are excellent, even with a balcony. Family are lovely. Communal area could have had a more inclusive setup.

• Baker (10/5): A home away from home with the kindest family - I loved everything about my time at Mangroves. It was honestly the best place I stayed in all of Sri Lanka. I booked for a week and ended up staying for five. The family are incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful, even helping me to rent a scooter. They really make you feel like part of the family, even occasionally cooking incredible tasty food for the guests. There are a lot of longer term travellers here which makes it feel like a home away from home. I loved getting to know the family. The kids are amazing! The location is also excellent. Set in a peaceful garden where you’ll see lots of amazing birds and the odd mongoose! You can nip across a bridge at the end of the garden and be at the beach in less than 5 minutes. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and there are cabinets to store your stuff in. There is also a fully equipped kitchen that you are allowed to use. Nothing. It was a ten out of ten.

• Yolanda (10/5): Good value for money. - Very nice stay. Basi accomodation but all that is needed. Very clean, comfy bed and bathroom. The price was lower that the one in Booking, maybe because they gave me a cheaper room. Anyway, I was going to pay 500lkr more. The lady is honest. Easy to walk to the beach and village center, 400m.
• Engel (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. We booked 3 rooms at mangroves. The family and kids are the most lovely people you can imagine. They make you feel like ita your home. We ended up staying 3 weeks and we would always! And hopefully come back
• Rain (10/5): Home away from home! - Wow this is a little haven in Midigama! A short distance in land, this is home away from home. The family are so so lovely and caring and make you feel extremely welcome. The rooms are spacious and en suite bathroom is nice. I originally booked for 1 week and now am staying for over 3. The house is a peaceful getaway from the busy surf scene and the most beautiful garden is really a place for creativity, yoga and relaxation! I highly recommend this Homestay!

• Elina (10/5): Amazing stay - I had an amazing stay at Mangrove Homestay! The family were so nice and welcoming, making me feel like part of their family. The place was clean, comfortable, and well located, surronded by the jungle and near the beach but far from the noisy road. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic stay! Thank you, I'll definitely come back :) Wi-Fi doesn't work in the room
• Meike (9/5): Great value for money, nice and clean room - Brand new room, beautiful balcony with jungle views, amazing garden, great location within the jungle,yet only a 5 minute walk from the main road, lots of great (local) restaurants closeby. Very quiet. Friendly and caring host family. Everything was clean and neat. Room was not yet ready when I arrived at 3pm and since it was brand new, there were still a few things missing which they arranged for me though. And they gave me a very good price for a beautiful room, so all good. A mosquito net would’ve been great. Toilet was leaking. No window in bathroom. Wifi Not (yet) working since it’s a new building, but could sit in their beautiful back yard.
• Will (10/5): A perfect homestay with amazing hosts. - Staying here at the Mangroves homestay has been amazing. We originally booked one night but extended to the end of our trip as staying here has been such a pleasure. The Hosts and the family are so kind and welcoming, helping with anything you can need. They're always here when you need them. A great location and set off the main road with a shortcut across the train tracks to the surf spot. It's so peaceful here and would love to stay again if we're ever in Sri Lanka. nothing
