- Julia (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and felt totally relaxed and unwound when I left. - We were met on arrival by the owner Jackie, who informed us that she had put the heating on in case we felt chilly when we arrived. She told us not to be afraid to put the heating on at any time we needed too. The cottage was never cold when we were there and so we had no need of the heating but even if it had been - degrees outside the heating would have been more than up to it. The scenery around the cottage was breath taking. The cottage was well equipped with fridge and freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster. Plenty of crockery and glasses etc. The only thing that you need to take are your own towels. Beds were very comfortable and I slept very well while I was there for a few days rest and relaxation. I took my dog and dogs are made very welcome. I took throws to put on the settee and bed as my dog is used to her creature comforts. They have their own swimming pool and sauna which you can hire for a very reasonable price by the hour. We took advantage of this. We had our own hot tub which we used every day. It's self catering but there is a cafe in Thornhill called the Drumlanrig cafe and it does an excellent full breakfast. All in all if you want a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings in a very comfortable cottage with great facilities then this is the place for you.
