Guest Reviews
- Graham (8/5): I enjoyed my stay in Oswestry. - Central location. A little low level heating early & late would have been nice May has been a bit on the cool side.
- Duncan (9/5): Chilled - Great location, lovey sized apartment, friendly owner, will definitely return. Early morning pigeon alarm
- Julie (10/5): Lovely apartment - Its a lovely apartment, very clean and secure...the parking is great and the location is perfect, all the rooms where huge!! I would definitely stay here again The WiFi could be a bit iffy but it worked
- mol (9/5): - Location perfect secure parking and a great apartment Lots of stairs but worth it
- Dawn (10/5): Lovely break - Very spacious, lovely big comfy bed and very clean. Dog friendly too. Hosts very accommodating.
- Tyson (9/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): Great. - Cracker of an apartment in the building of The Townhouse but away from the busy area so convenient for cocktails but quiet if you need some down time.
Much larger than we expected and well equipped.
Perfect for our needs. Bit strong to say didn’t like but when I arrived after a long drive I was left waiting at the bar quite a long time without any explanation whilst cocktails were made and served until a very crowded bar was clear. It was busy so I understand but at the time it didn’t feel very welcoming.

- Steven (1/5): Worst experience on Booking.com - Avoid - Nothing After confirming the book they did not respond to any messages from us directly or from the Booking.com representative.
We had loads of stress on the day as we had no details or communication from them and had to wait until the check in, and then for Booking.com representative to try and get hold of the owners before we could arrange another place to stay.
Booking.com were great and we received a refund and compensation to offset any additional costs we incurred through booking a new stay.
We had a email stating that they were overbooked on that day. If that was true then why didn't they let us know so we could make alternative arrangement instead of ghosting us.
We have booked loads of different types of stays on Booking.com and the owners are normally super helpful and responsive.

- Jennifer (8/5): A spacious, well equipped & quiet apartment in a central location. - Donna and Andy, the new owners had taken over this spacious, well equipped property only a short time before our stay. Staff helped carry our bags from the carpark despite the heavy rain and strong winds of Storm Amy. We were able to eat in the Brasserie downstairs (closed) on the first night, a burger from beef raised on the owners' farm, delicious and warming.
We organised our own breakfasts but good quality teas, coffee, milk, biscuits and some fruit were provided, ditto bedlinen and thick soft towels.
My friend slept on the sofa bed (already made up) and said it was comfy - it didn't look it... The bedroom is large, with a built in wardrobe and a large comfortable bed.
The weather prevented us sitting outside in the lawned area, which looks lovely. We were out at a concert on Saturday evening, otherwise we could gave joined the celebrations for the official opening of the Brasserie under the new ownership.
The new owners are very friendly and approachable and seemed to welcome our suggestions for making the property more comfortable. The steep narrow stairs could be an issue for some guests.
Another easy chair (instead of/as well as the bean bag!) in the lounge and a comfy chair in the bedroom would be welcome.
We had no heating on the Sunday but Andy came and did a temporary fix that evening. A plumber will need to fix a major leak that caused the issue.
Some guests must find it rather awkward to get into the shower over the bath and dark once in there. A walkin shower plus a light would solve the issue.
- Isobel (10/5): The host went the extra mile and made us feel welcome - The host was lovely and although we checked in later than expected she was accommodating and made us feel welcome, we had her number to text if we needed anything. Donna made the effort and on check out asked me how my partners surgery went which was comforting,
There was a safe car park in the back which was locked in the evenings and we were given the code to get out, the rooms were really big and comfy beds.
Great location as we were less than 10 mins away from the hospital for my partners surgery.
Thank you for having us Nothing
- Byron (7/5): Convenient location 1 night only - Location, layout and design, hairdryer Sofa, noisy bed and outside noise from pigeons. Locking gate frustrating
- Rheanna (7/5): - Location, cleanliness. There was a broken window and the sofa bed wasn’t the comfiest as it was quite sunken on one side.
- paul (8/5): Peaceful and comfortable stay in this spacious flat - Quiet, well equipped, clean and comfortable. Great location . Being able to park on-site meant it was easy to explore Oswestry on foot. But note it is up several flights of stairs .
The flat is surprisingly spacious. It was tricky finding the entrance to the parking area as we didn’t spot the Townhouse sign. But it’s the same entrance at first as the purple car park signs ! Then the wrought iron gate was just a bit further in so the rest of the instructions worked well
- Ian (7/5): Great location but disappointing stay - Location was great. Large lounge/kitchen. Quite comfortable. Bedroom was large and bed was comfy. Didn’t realise that it was on top floor, up a final steep and narrow staircase. Very tough for 81 year old to get luggage up. For that reason we could not stay again. During our stay could not get hot water at the sink or shower. Last day no water for flushing the loo. We had to use bucket to flush. Street door lock difficult to open owing to lock loose in door. The whole place needs TLC.
- josephine (5/5): Great location , but disappointed by the property. - Location After requesting additional bedding from a very nice guy who told us he was attempting to contact the owner, it never arrived. Lack of maintenance duties and no light bulb in the passage leading up to the stairs could be dangerous, especially in an emergency. There is green sludge in the entrance alley.
I reviewed the comments posted by prior visitors and am surprised that certain issues have not been resolved.
- Debbie (10/5): Great location fabulous facilities lovely outdoor garden fab host. - Fab location great for the dogs. Hot water was a little temperamental.
- Ross (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): Very enjoyable stay Flora our dog loved roming in the grounds - N|A IT IS AN APARTMENT Everything was brilliant Did a video of the apartment for all the friends and family Everyone thought it was FABULOUS
- Ewelina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kila_jay (8/5): Brilliant big apartment in a great location. - Brilliant sized apartment, far bigger than it looks in the pictures. Quiet area and very central for Oswestry. Everything we needed in the kitchen.
Orthopedic hospital is less than 10 minutes drive away.
Lovely hosts. We really enjoyed our stay. There were more steps up to the apartment and they were steeper than we were expecting. It was okay for us but we hadn't realised this when booking.
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - The location was excellent, in the town centre, close to everything but far enough away from the noise.
The property is a large one bedroom flat above a restaurant that was closed so it was very quiet. It has a private gated carpark so parking was easy. The bedroom was so big it could've had a bigger bed. The metal one provided was a bit squeaky. But that's not a negative, just an observation.
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional - Great location. Friendly and welcoming owner. Had everything we needed for a comfortable weekend away. Photographs do not do the accommodation any justice as it is a lot bigger.
Locals very friendly as well
- Margaret (2/5): Very poor - never got into property, tried to contact host before travel date but never answered phone and received no info on how to get into apartment, arrived at the apartment on 7th, all locked up so tried to get in touch several times, leaving voice messages, drove back home and eventually received email on how to get into apartment 17.49 saying he had technical problems, but by that time we weren't going to drive back, apparently he was out of the country
- Sue (8/5): Warm, bright, modern, excellent parking and location. - Modern, clean, spacious. WiFi not working . Only 2 spoons,2 mugs,1 teaspoon.
- Field (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (7/5): Good -
- Helen (6/5): Great location, reasonable value but a lot of niggles. - Great location. Good size property. Various things were not working, including: broken blinds in living room; no shelves in fridge or to fridge door; light at bottom of stairs not working.
Kitchen had not been fully cleaned out. There was waste cardboard and empty bottles in one cupboard, and some of the crockery had not been properly cleaned before being put away.
The arrangement of the shower was awkward. The sloping back of the bath combined with the location of the shower screen made it difficult to get in and out. It felt squeezed into a dark corner in a very large and empty room.
The position of the light switches in the shared lobby meant crossing in the dark to reach them
- Darren (9/5): Better than we thought - Very Spacious and Clean.Good car parking.
- Angharad (6/5): Lovely warm welcome from staff. Spacious property that needs some adjustments. - Lovely and spacious plus great that it was dog friendly. It was really cold and there was no hot water. We had to work on the thermostat and eventually got it going on the Saturday night. But it meant we had a really cold first night and cold showers etc. the bed mattress was also really uncomfortable with massive dips from being old or worn out. I would highly recommend replacing it as we both woke up with sore neck and backs.
- Brian (8/5): Good stay -
- Maya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lynne (3/5): Very uncomfortable sofa bed - Great location Check in and check out wasn’t very clear.
The sofa bed is so unbelievably uncomfortable it needs replacing you cannot call it a bed. It has a massive dip in the whole of the sofa. I highly recommend you replace this before letting the property out again. This made for two very poor nights sleep and is reflected in our review I’m afraid. Also the window didn’t close when we arrived although the staff were very friendly and did fix this straight away. There is also a big gap in the window in the main bedroom that you should fix before winter sets in.
- Claire (10/5): Relaxing and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend - The space was amazing and clean. It was secure great having private parking. Great view The stairs but that’s because I have fibromyalgia and arthritis in my knees
- Mary (7/5): Adequate but spacious - Very good size apartment and kitchen/lounge area is very modern and spacious.
Great that it is dog friendly and the beer garden was perfect for a late night wee walk. Staff in the restaurant were lovely and really helpful. Bathroom really large but odd layout so bath/shower shoved into the corner and dark. Mattress needs replacing. I had to chase up on the day for check in information as hadn't been sent anything in advance as promised
Biggest issue was when we arrived, gates were all padlocked up and we couldn't get it to release with the code. Then the restaurant were supposed to let us in but it was shut and no one responded to our knocks. . Had to wait in the pouring rain trying to call the owner, who did then sort things out. Not what we wanted at the end of a long day's drive.
- Shirley (8/5): Very good - Spacious. Private parking and location. Oswestry is a perfect location for walks and visits in Shropshire and Wales No coffee maker provided. We did not have internet access initially.
- Lizzie (7/5): Great location - Free parking
Close to all amenities Modern feel but lacked finishing touches
- Allan (8/5): Great lovely town. Needs more human contact. - Excellent bed quiet location Poor thermostat. General infogreat
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Tracy (10/5): Would stay again - Spacious
- Mark (9/5): Fab stay in Oswestry! - The apartment was very spacious with loads of storage space and the shower was excellent. Could do with a couple of small side tables so you have somewhere to put your brew when sitting on the sofa. Car Park easy to find. Was looking forward to sitting out in the huge pub garden but the weather unfortunately let us down - maybe next time! The bed was very creaky and made a noise every time one of us turned over (possibly just needs tightening) and the mattress was too soft for us.
The rear entrance passage to the property from the garden does rather let it down - could do with sprucing up.
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Melzymum (9/5): Great apartment and location - Everything Nothing
- Col (8/5): Very good -
- Marilyn (4/5): The negatives unfortunately outweighed the positives. - The flat was spacious and had all the things needed ie toilet rolls, towels, bed linen, kitchen equipment, TV.
It was an ideal location close to the town centre and near cafes, restaurants and shops.
The apartment was clean and tidy. Flooded bottom corridor we had to wade through to enter or leave the property. Clearly longstanding. The description of it being a first floor apartment when it clearly is NOT. Enter through door from corridor, up 12 stairs, turn right, up 5 stairs, few paces to unlock apartment door - enter "hallway" and if accommodation was here it might be construed as first floor but it's not and you have another 13 stairs (steep and twisty) to climb. Neither the light at the top or one at bottom worked. This was hazardous! We did not report it as it had already been reported by someone previously and nothing done about it. Similarly, heating unable to be switched off so it was too hot and we told the host who seemed to find it amusing but said a plumber was coming next day - but it was not resolved and host did not get back to us. Radiators turned off but one would not & heat was still bad. We had to use the fan in the flat all the time we were in and leave all windows partly open, even overnight. Shower unsafe as very dark in recess it is in at top end of the bath within 3 walls - nothing to hold onto to get in and out of the shower / bath. Toilet seat not fixed properly and unstable to use. Bathroom sink tap loose. Fridge not cold enough but no visible controls to change temp. Flooded corridor not being dealt with satisfactorily and it smelled bad. It was hard to get in touch with the host prior to travelling as on the website it stated to expect contact about week before our stay with how to get access but 2 days before we had heard nothing and all phone calls, messages and emails went unanswered. In the end I rang the bar to ask and the lady was very helpful as she said she would contact the host right away. Only then did we get the information we needed to gain access. The host made out it was for reasons of security that the codes are not given till a day before - the host might have informed us of this!
- Paul (9/5): Met my needs and was quite - Large spacious rooms
- Jo (9/5): A great place to stay particularly if you are staying for several days. I recommend it. - Lovely big space with good cooking facilities. Very Private. Very steep stairs up to the flat which I was expecting and a member of the bar staff kindly carried our cases up the last bit. There were a couple of issues which were sorted out for us quickly and cheerfully by Mike. A router booster was provided as the WiFi wouldn’t connect initially and a fan was provided as they were waiting for a heating engineer to fix a radiator that wouldn’t switch off.
There was a car park that was locked at night and the bar staff make a great Marguerita. The only thing was that the bed was very soft and bounced the other occupant when turning over, probably a hint that we need to diet!
A great location for visiting North Wales and we also went to the Oswestry sculpture park and Wollerton Old Hall gardens. The shower screen over the bath makes it difficult to step out of the area safely if you are a bit wobbly.
- Cole (8/5): Went to a reunion,accommodation ticked the boxes. - O.K
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - n/a couldnt access wifi
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, good location, secure parking Would not recommend to anyone with mobility issues are there are stairs up to the apartment
- Kelvin (9/5): Superb -
- Stocker (10/5): Exceptional -
- Irene (8/5): Comfortable bright property - Well appointed comfortable apartment. The stairs were quite steep and my senior dog had a little trouble getting upstairs. I should have checked prior to arrival.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb - The location was ideal.
Being a border town, it made it an ideal location to access the beautiful countryside.
We had a lovely stroll around Oswestry, admiring most of its history and buildings.
The apartment was large enough for us to have a get-together with our family. When we looked out onto the rear garden in the evening.......what a treat we had, as it was decorated with lights 😄 .
The security on the property was excellent. We didn't like the narrow entrance to the rear parking area and the fact that it's only approachable from one direction.
Accessing the apartment, we didn't like the dark, narrow steep staircase. We thought it needed a stairgate at the top for safety reasons.
We thought the bathroom basin wasn't big enough for a decent morning wash.
The bedroom blinds didn't work properly.
We couldn't get the hallway and landing lights to work at all, hazardous in the dark.
- Fiona (9/5): Superb - Great location. Big apartment with a comfy bed. Very helpful host.
- Debbie (10/5): Made a trip back home perfect - Perfect location wonderful facilities ideal for what we needed Absolutely nothing
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (9/5): Great base to travel around, but with convenience of being in town. - Based right in town with parking, , very large spacious top floor flat, forgot to pack towls, there were towels, lots of extra pillows available, very clean. Will be lovely in summer to sit in the garden, overlooks tennis courts and park, felt safe and secure. Needs a stair gate to stop an accident in the dark, when you not sure where you are when your half asleep. Did not realise it was above a restaurant, we had already booked different places to eat, so did not experience it.
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
