Guest Reviews
- Paul (10/5): - We loved staying at Mikansei! Our room was clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed ourselves in the shared spaces, including the kitchen, bathrooms, and communal areas. Our hosts, Claire and Shiro, were incredibly gracious, sharing their knowledge about the Oi river valley and Japan in general, as well as their time, and taking an interest in their guests. They gave us some great advice on making a our day trip up the valley on the Oigawa Railway even better, and invited us to a group dinner / cooking class with other house guests and as a friend from the village. We felt very welcome and taken care of. This is such a beautiful area to explore, and Mikansei made a perfect home base. I only wish we'd had more time there.
- Mary Catherine (10/5): Loved our stay here and will definitely come back! - Shiro and Claire are super friendly and made us feel at home. It was a privilege to stay at their 1910 built Japanese traditional farmer’s house that gave us a great experience of Japanese country living. None
- Vaughan (10/5): - Really nice owners.

- Caro (9/5): For us western people: experiencing a beautifull japanese home with good facilitys and great people - The owners really give a feel of hospitality, relaxed vibes and know a lot about the region and community in it. Also very helpfull with searching for example restaurants of even make reservations. Really nothing!
- M (10/5): I'll be back as soon as I can, and I'll recommend it to all my friends. Japan countryside's best! - Wonderfully unique guesthouse that captures the true essence of the Japanese countryside. The owners were super attentive to all our needs, such as recommendations, teaching us about the area/culture/language, and hosting our family with a toddler.
- Ana (10/5): Cozy and unique, Guesthouse Mikansei is as warm and welcoming as a cup of tea. - The communal breakfast was wonderful. We had locally made honey on homemade pancakes, breakfast sausages, and locally sourced boar meatballs!! They suggested a close-by swimming location near a small pizzeria. The pizza was freshly made, topped with basil grown right outside their herb garden. My daughter loved it all. She especially liked the drink which was like a lemonade but used plum. We enjoyed connecting with locals at the swimming hole and around town. Claire and Shiro's suggestions were appropriate for our interests and our small family. We had a great time. I can't think of anything to critique.
