Guest Reviews
- Rachel (10/5): Great location with amazing views - Fantastic spacious apartment in great location with amazing views. Too hot in the bedrooms and very light in the morning
- Dean (8/5): - The service was excellent, the view was amazing. The rooms were good and we enjoyed the social area The double bed was past its used by date and uncomfortable
- Jussi (9/5): -
- Hale (10/5): -
- Richard (10/5): -
- Callie (9/5): Perfect stay - The location, the view, the lovely pub grub on site. Everything was lush. If I’m being really picky, I would have a curtain set at the front door and a gate at the top of the stairs outside.
- dan (10/5): -
- Matthew (7/5): -
- Marnie (8/5): -
- Anne (8/5): Beautiful views - lovely apartment - The views are awesome. And the property was very clean There were no instructions about recycling but that’s about it!
- Alfie Fraser (10/5): -
- Simon (9/5): -
- Alistair (10/5): Perfect for our requirements. Hope to return next year - Excellent location with great views and helpful hosts
- Mountford (10/5): The waiter that served us was amazing, you definitely have a massive asset with him alone. - We didn't stop for breakfast as we needed to be at work early
- Lisa (10/5): What a find! We will definitely return - Beautiful views and really well equipped. Staff were really friendly, great pub down stairs
- Tracy (10/5): A room with a view - We love everything about this apartment and have stayed before as the location overlooking the estuary is a picture postcard setting.
Its spacious, comfortable and they provide so many little extras to make your stay easy to navigate.
Such a bonus to be able to dine down a flight of stairs in the pub with fabulous food and a super atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Plus the allocated parking space.
We will most certainly return again. There is nothing not to like but we did notice the noise of the road traffic from the bedroom from the early hours which escaped our notice from our last visit but definitely wouldn't stop us returning.
- Gordon (9/5): - Great location, above a busy pub, but we knew that when booking and there was no nose in the apartment. Comfortable and well equipped.
- June (10/5): - Everything was really nice the apartment was comfortable and clean
Views were lovely
Staff very helpful
- Kye (10/5): -
- neil (8/5): -
- Overton (8/5): Loved it but some lights not working and noisy extractor stopped use of outdoor seating area - Noisy extractor by outdoor seating
- Rebecca (8/5): Spacious, comfortable but slightly flawed - Great location overlooking the beautiful quay. You could walk into Kingsbridge along the quayside in 10 minutes and it was easy to catch the bus to Salcombe for the day. The apartment was bright and incredibly spacious. The pub below was lively, well run and had a great atmosphere and excellent pizzas. Staff were really friendly with very good customer service, special mention to Ishi who helped sort out some issues we had with the property. The industrial kitchen extractor fan blew food smells and noise directly onto the outdoor terrace from 9am in the morning until 10pm every night rendering it totally unusable. Considering the outdoor area was one of the reasons we booked the property this was disappointing. We had imagined ourselves having breakfast and evening drinks enjoying the stunning view and this was impossible. We reported it to the hospitality team and have since noticed that it has been a reported issue on the reviews for 2 years. Something really needs to be done to either make people aware of this or find a way to rectify the issue.

- Lynn (9/5): Superb location, excellent facilities. - The apartment is in a superb location, overlooking the river and near excellent beaches and beautiful countryside. It was clean and well equipped and the beds and furniture were very comfortable. The town of Kingsbridge has good facilities and interesting shops. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Only two slight downsides (not enough to spoil our stay): the kitchen extractor fan on the terrace was a little noisy; and the fanlight in the second bedroom meant that sleeping after sunrise was difficult (blinds would be a good addition).
- Sheila (9/5): Excellent stay at an excellent location looked after by a great team - Location superb. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Very busy and limited parking so appreciated the allocated parking space. Spacious with good views. Did not use anything in apartment apart from sleeping there.
Arranged a family dinner for 10 on one of our evenings there and it was really great. Team member Anya looked after us so well …..nothing was too much trouble , all food and wine excellent and a table setting with an amazing view. Happy and relaxed atmosphere and a great evening. We were really not able to fully utilise what is a fantastic terrace as the extractor fan for the restaurant below is very noisy. Only time we sat on balcony was either before or after it was active . I was aware of this from previous reviews …..the noise was not audible inside . Not that it deters from the Apartment but it’s a busy place & maybe maintenance needs some attention in between guests….couple of lights needed fixing plus blind in lounge broken. Would have mentioned this direct but did not have to opportunity to speak to host
Finally it is a busy road and whilst quiet in the main…. traffic does start very early on…this only affects the bedrooms not the lounge
- Tony (3/5): Very noisy kitchen extractor fan ruins an otherwise fine apartment. Avoid. - This apartment is all about the location, which is indeed fantastic. The apartment is nice but needs some maintainence to the windows and blinds. The pub's industrial kitchen extractor fan is on the terrace and is very noisy. A number of guests mention this as an issue in their reviews but personally I think it is unacceptable as it makes the terrace COMPLETELY UNUSABLE.
- Michele (7/5): Great space for 4; more attention to cleaning would be good - Stunning location that we know well; spacious beddrooms and living space; bathrooms lovely; amazing views; kitchen seemed well equipped but we were staying fro a funeral and have family nearby so didn't make the most of the facilities.
Amazing views Doubling glazing good but road noise if opened bedroom window;
Lovely balcony which catches the afternoon/evening sun but extractor fan from restaurant sited there which was really noisy so not really conducive to sitting out and relaxing
Also had to clean under loo seats! old dog poo on balcony!
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely spot. Great apartment
- Jen (8/5): Would 100% recommend but probably not suitable if you have kids if staying on a weekend - The view was outstanding, the staff were second to none and facilities were brilliant It was a little noisy but expected as we stayed on a weekend
- Tim (9/5): Great apartment - would visit again if in the area - Great location, with stunning views of the estuary.
Very well appointed apartment that made the stay very comfortable Only a minor point - but the kitchen extractor fans blows out over the decking.
- Debbie (9/5): Superb -
- Clare (8/5): Very good - Good location comfortable and airy fantastic view. Wi-Fi was very poor. For some people it may be a little noisy but was ok for us and the blinds need fixing.
- Sam (8/5): Very good -
- Jason (8/5): Value for money -
- Mark (8/5): A great find in a great location. - A great location with a busy but well-run pub downstairs. The only down side was that we couldn't sit outside of the apartment due to the noise of the air conditioning outside of the flat.
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ml (9/5): Fantastic St weay - Location, views and facilities.
- Nick (9/5): Superb -
- Tracy (10/5): A room with a view! - The Crabshell Apartment was the most relaxing, funky space, super facilities, and breathtaking views.
We were celebrating my birthday and ate both evenings in the Crabshell restaurant & wow! The food was excellent quality. We had the seafood platter, which left my husband drooling when it arrived at the table. And on my birthday evening when family joined us the staff were totally on point. Approachable. Full of smiles & very polite. Highly recommend a visit if only to try their food and receive their warm welcome.
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabrielle (9/5): Superb -
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay for a few days. The apartment is fully kitted out with all home comforts. Stunning views over the estuary, watching the birds gliding around from sunrise to sunset! Easy access to town and surrounding areas. Also great to be able to pop downstairs for a vino too! I'll be back to stay here again...
- Tanya (9/5): Beautiful views. Really lovely apartment and friendly Staff. - Location and how spacious the Apartment was. Friendly Staff in Crabshell Inn. There was an extractor fan from pub below that was on our private terrace.
- Peter (7/5): Good - The location and views are superb
- Richard (9/5): We enjoyed our stay and would certainly book again. - The views are great, the apartment has good space and is well equipped. The beds are quite firm. There are two flights of stairs to reach the apartment.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- W (10/5): Lovely Stay - The whole decor and finish of the apartment was excellent, nothing but good things to say about the place, will definitely be returning
- Anne (10/5): Stunning views during a January stay - The views are stunning. We went in January and we saw all weather - the views remained great
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexis (10/5): Fantastic accommodation in a stunning setting. - Everything was exceptional! We loved everything!
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Gemma (10/5): Wish we could have stayed longer. Perfect - The space. The furnishings. The location. The views. The little touches. Everything. Nothing.
- Jane (10/5): One to go back to. - The appartment was warm and cozy, as was the pub below. All staff were lovely and helpful. Top marks. Nothing. As it was November the fan on the balcony didn't affect us, but can imagine it would spoil sitting out there during summer months.
- David (10/5): "By far the best " - Location and everything about the accommodation with the balcony overlooking the estuary was fantastic. By far the best place I've stayed whilst working away. 10/10 all day long Nothing not like.
- Keith (8/5): Overall very good - Size and comfort of the apartment Could have been cleaner
- Louis (10/5): Exceptional - Location was stunning, apartment was roomy and excellent vale for money
- Carlton (9/5): Superb - The location was brilliant, great views across the Estuary
The beds were super comfy and the apartment had everything we needed, really great space and always appreciate a well stocked kitchen in terms of utensils and pans etc! Some of the decor needs updating, it's clearly been a loved apartment but is now showing some signs of wear and tear which is a shame
Plus we were woken at 4.30am both nights we stayed by the cleaners moving furniture about in the pub below, the staff were super apologetic but be warned if you're a light sleeper or have children who may be disturbed
- Kerry (10/5): Great apartment, had everything we needed and good location for exploring the area -
- Cherie (9/5): Great apartment and would book again! - Amazing open plan with the choice to close off rooms if needed. Fantastic location and amenities. Brilliant apartment and we will book again. My daughter and I thought the beds were comfortable and slept well. However my hubby didn't agree as much, as he felt he kept rolling into the middle of the bed.
- Robert (5/5): Nice Location BUT!!!!! - Location and staff combined with a good restaurant but did not do a breakfast. Poor cleaning dust everywhere. The main bathroom had floor tiles with a lot of the grout missing. Tiles around the bath were all chipped. The skirting was thick with dust and in places mould. The extractor fan is full of thick dust. Most of the window frames throughout had black mould on them.
Ceiling in second bathroom needs attention. Blinds need attention ready to full away.
A very noisy outside extractor fan by entrance door. Needs a deep deep clean and a lot of repairs.
- Rachael (9/5): Fabulous apartment in a brilliant location for exploring the area. Loved our time here - Fantastic apartment in a superb location, with wonderful views of the estuary. Very spacious and comfortable. We had a really lovely couple of days there, wish we had longer!
- Kay (9/5): Brilliant apartment, would highly recommend. - Location and space inside generous. Two bathrooms good for two couples. Able to walk to centre, amazing views. Slightly later departure time on Saturday would have been perfect.
- Elaine (9/5): Lovely stay, good weather perfect. - Sliding doors !
Spaciousness and the views. Nothing
- David (9/5): Fantastic position with great view over estuary. - Shame about noisy fan from pub which came on about 10am till evening, Made sitting outside on verandah unpleasant. Luckily fan couldn't be heard inside apartment.
- Lurline (9/5): Beautiful - Location lovely
Views amazing
Facilities brilliant
Staff lovely
Had a really good stay, only thing that let it down was the stairs as my partner has a sprained ankle but other than that can’t fault it. N/A
- Penny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victoria (6/5): Wonderful food and fantastic location with a well serviced apartment - Lovely location and fantastic food. The host were brilliant at communicating and ensuring a positive experience. The apartment is beautiful and we'll equipped. Unfortunately as a family with small children it was too noisy for us over the weekend. We felt that we couldn't relax properly due to music and crowds
- James (8/5): Great location, great pub, great staff - Great location above a lovely pub, the staff were all really helpful and friendly and it was great having pub food delivered upstairs! I’d say the only real significant negative was the rather noisy fan/outlet that’s in use when the pub kitchen is open…it’s pretty noisy and spoils the ambiance of the decking area - you can’t really enjoy a peaceful moment in the sun whilst the fan is whirring away.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Barrett (10/5): Exceptional - Great views perfect location for touring Devon. Local shops and supermarkets near by all within walking distance Car park very tight.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Relaxing with the fantastic views and a perfect location. - Marvellous views, outside seating area, two bathrooms and dog friendly.
Great location and perfect if you want food from the pub. No gate on the outside area to stop other people wondering upstairs to your appointment and it would help stop my dog from going downstairs if a gate was fitted.
The grouting in the bathroom floors need filling and the blinds need dusting.
Outside ashtray hadn’t been emptied not very nice when we don’t smoke neither had the dishwasher been emptied from last guests.
A very loud alarm going off on three separate occasions in the middle of the night and waking us up.
- Chris (9/5): Down Under meets South Devon 😎 Great Vibe & Location ! Great Discovery 🤩 - The location & views were stunning & having own parking spot 👌
The facilities & decor so in tune with the vibe of the location 🥰
The staff on site could not do more / treated like VIPs 🤩
Such a bonus with an amazing bar/ restaurant close proximity 😋
We have booked again for a few nights in August with parents 🤗 The ventilator & noise on private decking area
- Loredana (10/5): Excellent location, beautiful flat, lovely staff, a real pleasure to be there 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 - There is a reason why this apartment is called “The View”! I loved it to bits ❤️ It has everything you need, from cooking utensils to a large tv, a gorgeous terrace , beautifully decorated and the staff working there are brilliant ❤️
- Terry (10/5): Couldn't fault it. - Lovely location on the estuary, friendly staff and such an amazing apartment, would definitely recommend and hope to return soon. I'd also recommend the food especially the crabby fries ! Everything was great !
- Sharyn (10/5): We had an excellent stay at The View. Onsite parking. Wonderful views. Everything you need for a super comfort stay. Lov - Loved the location. Facilities excellent. Wonderful roomy apartment and very comfortable- views superb.
Friendly hosts. Access up 32 steps - my elderly father managed them and it was worth the effort for the views.
Restaurant Kitchen fan roaring on balcony was very loud but only when on the veranda. No impact inside the apartment.
- John (9/5): Would definitely recommend. - Superb location, great kitchen and bathrooms, comfortable and pleasant. Parking is quite awkward.
- Richard (10/5): Brilliant - The appointment was kitted out very well and easy to use. The pub downstairs provided ample choice of very good food and drink Car park was tight
- Claudia (6/5): Pleasant - Well equipped apartment, hosts very nice and friendly. Brilliant river views. Good location. The mattress was a bit dated and soft. Generally the noise coming up from the below pub/restaurant wasn't great. They had told us the noise would stop at 9pm but it went on till after 11pm. Also noises started really early in the morning (cleaners below the apartment in at 5 or 6am, then loud music at 8am, more music from the pub/restaurant from 11am). If you want a relaxing and quiet break, then this is probably not for you.
- Henry (9/5): Superb -
- Christopher (8/5): Good location, friendly, helpful staff. - Staff were excellent
- Hilary (9/5): Superb -
- Vernon (9/5): Comfortable and convenient Crabshell Inn. - The location was perfect for walking to the centre of Kingsbridge. The apartment was very spacious, the lounge/kitchen diner could have seated ten comfortably and the bedrooms were roomy and can sleep four. Having two bathrooms was handy too. There is a lovely view of the waterfront and the restaurant was downstairs. Despite being above the restaurant and alongside the main road there was no problem with noise. Really well furnished with a high standard of fittings and equipment: full size washing machine, cooker, fridge, iron and board and all towels and linen included.
There was an issue that could not have been prevented by the owners ( a leak due to very heavy rain) which arose during our journey down that was very quickly resolved by Vicky before we arrived but who took the trouble to keep us informed of developments and then generously compensated us for the minor inconvenience when we checked in. We'll definitely be back when we visit Kingsbridge again. Nothing, everything was as described and it was spotlessly clean.
- Jason (10/5): The staff were so friendly and helpful. - Fantastic location and great views. Nothing
- Zena (7/5): It was okay, weather wasn't great, but the flat is a little spartan, a bit tired and a leak! - All straightforward, but a little bit 'there are the keys' There was a leak in the ceiling in the bathroom, due to a flat roof. whilst they did offer an alternative accommodation option and have someone look at it. it is still disappointing to have to tolerate this, especially as there was evidence of the problem elsewhere
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location, excellent facilities ,brilliant staff below in pub
Couldn’t fault it
- Penelope (10/5): Perfect - Everything, cosy, comfortable, fab views, friendly staff. loved the place
- Tony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (7/5): Good -
- Paul (9/5): Superb - Unbeatable view. Great modern, well equipped apartment. Helpful polite staff. Clean. Road noise. Extraction fan prevents use of the balcony during kitchen hours at the pub.
- Mike (10/5): Loved every second, will definitely be back - It was clean and tidy, and the perfect location for exploring. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Nothing
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
