Guest Reviews
- Sarah (8/5): Lovely stay - highly recommend - Location of the hut, the hot tub .sun set. Bed was on the small side and mattress uncomfortable.
- Jessica (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Lovely view and the hot tub was amazing - The hot tub
- Jenny (9/5): Cosy and peaceful get away. - Beautiful views.
Small and cosy with the luxury of the hot tub. Did miss a couple of basics like sugar and tea bags.
Had coffee and hot chocolate.
- Demi (9/5): A little gem of a place - The views are breathtaking from this property
It was cosy and clean superb for what we needed and I would come back
You do have to be a fairly confident driver to get to this property There was no bbq at the property which I thought was mentioned in the facilities, the WiFi details were blank inside the information book but this didn’t really bother us as we had good signal anyway. Check in was 4pm which I thought when I booked it said 3pm.
The only other thing is the road right outside was busier than expected so would recommend a privacy screen for the hot tub.
- Matt (10/5): We had a lovely time as a short little honeymoon the views from the hot tub were wonderful - We had a lovely breakfast in Hartington in the tea shop There was nothing we didn’t like
- Fantic (8/5): Very good - Fantastic location so long as you are a confident driver up a narrow stone walled, steep road. I love roads like that but I know some would struggle. Amazing view across the valley with the sun set, so sitting in the hot tub for that is perfect. It's situated next to the road but apart from the farmer passing by on a quad, you don't get passing traffic. Walks from here down to the river are via steep downward track, so then returning is obviously uphill. Check out time would be nice and hour later, but it's not a deal breaker.
- Swindells (10/5): Exceptional - The location was beautiful and true to the pictures, and the facilities were exceptional
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Callum (10/5): Exceptional -
- Quince (10/5): Happy cats! Idyllic rest spot - View from hot tub was spectacular. Really clear instructions. Felt like if we needed anything the owners were available. Hut itself was so cosy and easy to keep warm. Loved having the electric heater and the wood burner. Enjoyed the split farm door to be able to have half the door closed by still seeing the views Nada!
- Harry (10/5): Incredible stay, enjoy the local area, nothings to far, pubs and shops near by! Also, very close to thors cave which is - Everything! The property was brilliant! Amazing location, very good appliances, cooked breakfast and dinner in the Shepard’s hut and had no problems! The hot is definitely the highlight for me and my partner, it was freezing outside but the hot was hot and kept us very warm, spent over 2 hours init each night! Only two things! The fridge was very small but I guess it can only be so big in a shepherds hut, not a massive issue either just pack with that in mind! Secondly and it might just be been me my partner but we struggled to keep the firing going!
- Ben (9/5): Tranquil - Location was beautiful, the fact Grace came to pick me up from the village due to the snow was really lovely and saved the trip! Was just great to be away from everything and have your own spot of calm & quiet
- James (9/5): A quirky beautiful place to stay with great access to walks and stunning locations - The location is amazing and, on clear evenings, the sunset is amazing across the Peak District. The parking is a bit tight to get into and a larger vehicle may struggle to get in.
- Begum (5/5): Passable -
- Giles (9/5): Superb - Amazing view, cosy shepherd's hut and hot tub Bit awkward backing the car in.
- Laura (10/5): Cosy shepherd's hut with lovely views - Beautiful cosy hut with amazing views. Private hot tub! Great places to go for walks and very peaceful and quiet Nothing, everything was great!
- Callum (10/5): Live, laugh, love. - Very cosy, unique experience and excellent service from the hosts! Nothing was a hassle for them and always very polite. Nothing.
- Leah (10/5): An amazing get away - Loved the location and the amazing views and the host Grace was so nice & couldn't have done enough for us x That the local amenities were still quite away from the hideaway however that just meant that you need to make sure you have everything you need for your stay.
- Samantha (10/5): Fantastic weekend! - It's a lovely hut with fantastic views and has everything you need for your stay. There are plenty of walks within the area or straight from the hut. Nothing.
- Grace (9/5): A cosy, peaceful stay with lovely views of the countryside - Gorgeous location, peaceful and private. The views are amazing.
The bed was comfy and the hut was nice and warm. It was really nice to have a proper toilet and shower when staying in a shepherds hut.
The hot tub was also a really nice treat!
Most of the things you could need (e.g. robes, linen, teabags) are kindly provided. Thinking about future travellers, I’d recommend they bring a hair dryer, bug repellent (as flies seem attracted to the hot tub), and a sleep mask (it can get bright in the morning but also there is a light on both the smoke and carbon monoxide alarm that is quite bright and directly above the bed). We also brought a desk fan which was really helpful as it can get a little stuffy inside at night
Overall, we loved our stay and would return! It was a little bit dirty when we arrived. For example there was a milk bottle cap and another small piece of rubbish on the floor inside by the cupboards and a champagne cork on the floor outside.
Storage is really limited. I tried to get our bags under the bed but they wouldn’t quite fit.
When the booking page said the fridge was small, I underestimated how small (you can fit 2 single pints of milk in) so if you’re going for a week, don’t bring much cold food.
- Jessica (10/5): Just beautiful! - Beautiful views, so cosy and didn’t feel like we were overlooked at all There was a lack of storage but that comes along with such a unique stay
- Amy (10/5): Everything we could need for a wonderful, relaxing weekend away! - The highlights for us were the tranquility, the incredible views to wake up to (opening top stable door and sit in bed with a cup of tea looking at over the valley 👌) and the jacuzzi was fabulous after a long walk. Very friendly host too.
We hope to visit again soon!
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Castle (10/5): Exceptional - The views were breathtaking and the area is lovely and quite, the hot tub just made the time away more relaxing Nothing
