- Daniel (10/5): Comfort in the countryside - Everything was perfect for our stay. The place was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The kitchen had every utility and utensil you could need. They had decorated for Christmas during our visit which was a lovely surprise! Both the fire pit and indoor fire place had plenty of wood and supplies to get everything going. The host was responsive and very friendly and helpful! The location is very remote and peaceful. The private road was easy to access and meant the shops weren’t as far as google maps led us to believe. An important note is that “The Keep” part of the property was empty during our stay in “The Snug”, so the privacy level was potentially higher than normal as the properties are attached to each other. We would absolutely love to stay again and would recommend to anyone who wants privacy and comfort. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but just important to bear in mind that the property is approximately 30 minutes from Callander and the local shops, so some forward planning was important as “popping to the shops” could be an hour round-trip. The property itself couldn’t be faulted.
- Louisa (8/5): A fantastic property and location but midges and noise impacted our enjoyment - The location was great with wonderful views of the loch and hills and the property was beautifully decorated and very clean. Parking was plentiful. Owner was very responsive. We could hear the people staying in the Keep next door through the connecting door when they were talking and also when they hoovered up midges at 11 o'clock at night. Position of dining table under the stairs where you couldn't see the view was disappointing as we were never able to sit outside due to the midges despite wearing the Smidge provided. Would have been great to be outside to eat and relax given how fabulous the view is. Maybe some Citronella candles or Midge repeller machines would help. Given these issues value for money was impacted as we didn't get the full benefit of the outside space which was really lovely.
