Guest Reviews
- Lance (10/5): Close to my work and very comfortable. - From the moment I arrived Theresa and Alex made me feel very welcome. Cosy Bedroom. TV and good WiFi. All in all a great stay. Nothing to say.
- Ryan (10/5): -
- Nilesh (10/5): Excellent Location, Facility, Bed, Coffee, Owner...!!!! - Very Clean and neat .. Kitchen was very neat, clean and like Home...We prepared diner, morning breakfast at Kitchen...It was like a our own home...Value for Money No cutron to bath tub
- Henson (9/5): A comfortable stay. - The location was great for us, within walking distance of our special family event.
The room was warm and comfortable and access to the property very straightforward. Alex communicated well and answered all our queries. We only had one cup and one teabag left for us in the room, but otherwise we were happy with everything.
- Michael (8/5): Friendly host - The owner was such a delightful and thoughtful person. It was very much appreciated. I really appreciated my stay at such short notice. I would have really benefited from a towel whilst staying at the property.
- Paul (4/5): Not recommended - Quiet location Yet another poor quality home turned into an easy revenue maker without the cost of HMO or Hotel license. So called Deluxe single room appeared to have been a large broom cupboard many years ago. Carpets throughout threadbare and in need of replacement. Poor repairs throughout home. Over priced
- Robbie (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone - really lovely owners who were very accommodating and welcoming.
- Totolici-Cimpoiasu (5/5): - The location was alright. We booked this property on Booking.com without realising that it was actually a private house where the host also lives. When we arrived, the host seemed surprised by our booking and was not expecting us, so we had to wait around an hour for the rooms to be prepared.
Unfortunately, the property did not meet our expectations. The shower in the bathroom was not working (something already mentioned by another guest weeks ago), and the toilet had a strong smell of urine. Overall, the house felt unprepared to accommodate guests.
The only positive side was that the host was very nice and welcoming, but the property itself is not suitable for visitors in its current state. If it hadn’t been so late at night, we would have canceled and looked for another place.
- bassam (8/5): Honest Landlord - I booked this room for two nights believing it had a private bathroom, due to an unintentional mistake in the listing made by the owner’s daughter. When I discovered that the bathroom was shared, I immediately requested a refund on the same day I was due to check in.
The owner, Dr. Alex, as a true man of God, kindly refunded my money—even though the booking was officially non-refundable. He acknowledged the error, corrected the listing, and dealt with the matter with honesty and fairness.
As a man of God myself and a Muslim, I promised him I would leave a good review, and I am happy to do so. Thank you, Dr. Alex, for your kindness and integrity.
I cannot rate the room itself as I did not stay there, but I can certainly commend the honesty and character of the host. Listing was not accurate at the begining but was corrected eventually.
- Hardeep (9/5): Perfect for travelling - Quiet, clean, respectful hosts. Shower is a situation, no pressure or temperature balance at all. Spoke to host, hopefully is remedied soon. Otherwise perfect for my trip, worked all day, slept, showered, worked again. Perfect for that. The shower.
- Le (4/5): - MOST IMPORTANTLY of all especially for a woman
From the description, extra information, facilities page, and definitely the images, available to me and my partner using the booking app it seemed as though this was a self contained flat/home.
unfortunately its actually a bedroom in a home directly next to the hosts bedroom, We left after a night.
Booking.com agreed with that it isn't clear. Instructed to change the description and refunded the majority of my stay
Secondly worst shower pressure I've ever experienced and I've travelled all over the world (rough)
Alex seemed nice but shower not fit for purposes. a woman, I feel would be even less impressed with it.
lastly met by 4 Christian texts in the bedroom, I myself am Christian, butt this felt a little much and adds to the feeling of spending the night in a bedroom in someone else's home next to their bedroom.
Thin office blinds and no curtains in the bedroom.
- ROZENDO (10/5): -
- Joseph (7/5): Room for improvement - The house and room was very clean. Access was easy (once I was told). I parked right outside. The house was quiet. I had to contact the host twice to receive instructions on how to enter the property. And even then my second call was ignored and I received an email. The single room bed was very uncomfortable. The warm tap for the shower was very weak.
- Oscar (10/5): Exceptional - The kitchen. The garden.
- Ezumah (9/5): Value for money - Exceptional hospitality, warm reception from host, comfortable, clean linen, friendly atmosphere, and a very decent environment. It's not a massive room, but quite enough value for the price.
- Audrey (7/5): Good -
- Lynn (8/5): Very good - Friendly welcome, with additional water which was thoughtful as hot day.
- John (10/5): Fab Salcombe! - Everything....exceptional Much TV interference. Had to rely on iPlayer for a clear picture.
- Eddie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terry (9/5): Superb -
- Shivanand (7/5): Good -
- Legacy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Xingjian (10/5): nice place to live - The location is good, and provides free parking The room is a little bit dirty
- Townsend (9/5): Superb - Everything OK for a typical house i lived in the past The TV would not work but that could be my fault in operating it.Not to worry
- Katie (9/5): Amazing. - Very helpful very friendly and room was lovely. Not applicable
- Anne (8/5): Very good -
- Julian (8/5): Fine for a night - Use of kitchen, fridge and dining room was good.
Room itself was fine and good value for money Bit difficult to find where to get in in dark as there was no exterior lighting. Also in the morning very little light . In a place you don't know just a little hall light would help
Also there was no heating in my room and no obvious way to switch it on
- Richard (1/5): Bad -
- Jonas (10/5): Exceptional - Highly recommended, exceeded expectations!
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Jankey (1/5): Bad -
- Anthony (8/5): Very good -
- Abraham (10/5): Exceptional - Staff very friendly. Aside an initial delay due to health care, everything was good.
- Bobby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louise (10/5): Lovely cosy with kitchen usage - Lovely cosy home & everything I needed a tv bed wardrobe & access to kitchen to do my breakfasts & good wifi & great location heat all supermarkets & a high street.
- Liz (6/5): Pleasant stay for one night. - Very comfortable bed Central heating didn't go on automatically in the morning.
- Olly (1/5): Very poor stay - Very little. We had frankly an awful stay here. The property had more of a feel of staying in a student house rather than any sort of holiday let.
The house was very dirty and the smell was bad both within the house but particularly the bedding. Kitchen and fridges etc were genuinely in a horrific state with heavily rotting food.
The shower didn't really work and there was a bucket in the bath as a makeshift solution to this problem.
Heating was outdated and tempramental. Either being extremely hot or freezing cold.
Locks were hanging off doors. I could go on, just a totally unsuitable set up and feel we've been conned.
We booked a two night stay due to our family plans. Very nearly left after the first night and left as early as we could on the second morning.
- Anthony (3/5): Poor - local pub is great 1. waiting over 40 minutes to get access with the owner failing to reply to calls and only responding once booking com got involved.
2. Property was freezing and had to call owner and message several times to find out how to put heating on
3. Advertised as having tea and coffee, but just tea bags, no coffee, no milk etc.
4. Owner took over 3hrs to respond to calls and messages; messaged and called around 10pm regarding lack of drinks, finally got response after 1am.
- Mohammed (10/5): Exceptional - Great price and host are very welcoming Nothing not to like. Great for money's worth
- Sunee (7/5): Good -
- Roger (5/5): Passable -
- Oleg (10/5): Exceptional - Thanks. Everything is fine.
- Amy (8/5): Threat value family room and lovely host - Great value accommodation and lovely host :) we felt very welcome and appreciated the quiet location, the local pub was great value too. Nothing to complain about
- David (7/5): Good -
- Jenni (8/5): Good value for money and discreet hosts. - Very convenient and comfortable bed and good quality linen. Bathroom shower set up not ideal with water temperature but sufficient.
- Wood (10/5): Exceptional -
