Guest Reviews
- Bloom (10/5): - Lovely place, lovely people, super comfy bed and so beautifully decorated. I came here with my kids and we’ll definitely come back 💕
- Aihua (8/5): Love place with good location. - This guest house is small and lovely, staff are friendly. We are free to use the kitchen and fridge. We made our own dinner one night there. The dining place is a coffee terrace, the mango juice and coffee are good. Cross the guest house is a stand selling local snacks, we brought some for our trip out. On the street, there are also restaurants selling local cousins food, they are not at my taste though.
It is next to the Sudan palace, 1.4km away from Malioboro street and 3.5 km away from the train station. A little noisy because of the motorcycle on the street.
- Keith (8/5): Great. - I would stay at Chendela again. Everything I needed was with in walking distance. As an American Male who has travel the world the time I spent at the Chendela in Yogyakarta I will remember for the rest of my life. The junk food market across the street is good.
- Maxim (6/5): - friendly staff, good coffee very noisy area, uncomfortable matraces.
- Jitka (5/5): - It is really cute place with nice atmosphere however, almost no privacy and chance for a good sleep - not soundproof at all, with all windows to the inner yard and busy road next to it.
- Elaine (8/5): Cute, a little faded - Super location - just outside the busy Malioboro area, via some cute urban streets; good A/C; great staff who make great coffee (at the hostel-run Sepulu cafe); a small and charming garden courtyard; and fair pricing.
Accidentally booked 1 night less than we needed. Owner responded quickly to my message and we were able to pay in person for the difference.
The owner obliged when I noticed a musty smell in our initial room (maybe bedding that hadn't dried properly? Difficult in the tropics...), and offered us the Tosca room instead. Bathroom needs a deep clean. Random sewerage smell from shower drain one day. Walls are woodboard thin so there was street noise, and the cafe starts playing music each day around 7am. Whole place could do with a refresh.
- rebeccaN (7/5): Cute rooms in Central.yogya - Location was good and cute javanese accomodation and decor. After 8pm no one was available to help with booking transport etc, which was tricky when plans changed due to weather. Restaurant staff tried to help but didnt follow through and didnt inform us.
- Khairissa (10/5): - It is sooooo cozy and peaceful. We enjoyed our 5 days stay here. The staffs are all so kind. I’ll definitely come back ❤️

- Klaas (9/5): Voor herhaling vatbaar! Dus prima geslapen.
- RUBEN RIVA (5/5): - Posizione.

- Egle (7/5): Nice but worn out hostel with cafe in its territory. - Nice cosy café in the same territory that serves breakfast and you may purchase meals, coffee, juices. Close to Sultan Palace. Wi-Fi works well. The room and bathroom are uncomfortable and worn out. Very noisy street at night.
- Jennifer (8/5): - The staff are really lovely and welcoming and also provide earplugs as the prayer in the morning is really loud.

In generale ottimo rapporto qualita/prezzo.

- Martijn (8/5): Charming location with incredibly comfy beds, only need some maintenance - Charming looks
Good AC
Incredibly comfortable beds, perhaps best I’ve ever had Bathroom and shared kitchen need maintenance and thorough cleaning.
Breakfast portions are incredibly small (like 1 croissant) and prepared in the dirty shared kitchen.
- Afzal (8/5): Very good - Location, condition of the room and food / beverages.
- Zoran (6/5): Acceptable for solo traveler and not for the long stay. - The girls and the owner are attentive and willing to help. The place has some old charm and is quiet. External door do not cover completely the view into the room. Some wooden elements are very loose and tend to fall from the door. Accommodation is very basic (eg no fridge and some toiletries) and location is bit far. Although all of that has impact on price.
- Estelle (10/5): Lovely accommodation ideally located in Yogyakarta - The breakfast is to die for: specialty coffee and artisanal doughnuts!
The staff is so friendly and helpful, they packed breakfast for us every night so we could leave early in the morning for our tours.
The bed was the most comfortable we had in Indonesia
The bathroom is beautiful The hotel is located on a street heavily used by scooters, so there's always background noise (don't forget to bring good earplugs)
- Nurul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sunito (8/5): We have a placent stay - The location cannot be better. Ten minutes walking - through small no to busy streets - to the palace square/alun-alun. The breakfast is good, and you can always bring your own. Adjacent to the hotel there is hawker tent selling local deserts/cookies and fragrant rice + side dishes. The over all ambiance of the hotel - although small - is nice, and the coffee at the attached coffee (Sapulu Coffee) is excellent. The AC rather difficult to manage.
(7/5): Good - The room was OK and the bathroom was OK. The staff was nice and they offered a great breakfast at the cafe, which is sometimes very busy with a nice atmosphere. The door was not properly built, was a bit funky, and did not shut well. I did feel secure enough when I locked it with a padlock on the door.
- Isnian (9/5): Superb -
- Larasati (9/5): Superb -
- Vivian (7/5): Cute little home stay in Yogyakarta - It’s a very cute accomodation with beautiful rooms. The hosts are extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast was nice but very small. We usually ordered something extra. This was fine though as the prices were very reasonable. The coffee and fresh juices were delicious. Overall, we enjoyed our stay! Unfortunately, our room was not in the best condition anymore and could use some renovation and deep cleaning.
- Nadia (10/5): Charmed at The Chendela - Loved this quaint little place from the pretty windows and doors, the pleasant interior and details in the room to the cafè that serves very good coffee.
Easy to communicate with kind and thoughtful hosts.
Excellent lication with a number of eateries including hidden gems along the street. None!
- Teresa (10/5): Exceptional - Traditional architecture updated enough to make it comfortable. Nice paintings on each entrance.
- Federico (7/5): Good -
- Iv79 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eni (7/5): Good -
- Crosthwaite (8/5): This was a great location to base ourselves in Jogja. Staff were very helpful, beds were comfy, and the coffee is excell - Friendly helpful staff, comfortable beds, good location, excellent coffee
- Ralf (9/5): Great stay, great staff! - The staff was more than helpfull. So very friendly, kind and warm. They helped us when my girlfriend got dengue, they gave us a late check out for free. And they placed pastries and guave juice in front of the door so she would get well soon. Thats the kind of people they are. And they make excellent cappuccinos:) The mosque at 04:30 is quite loud in the room:)
- Joren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Septilia (10/5): Nice place to enjoy your holiday - Small but very warm place, clean bathroom, super cozy bed that makes me wonder what brand is it ?, nice breakfast and coffee, vibrant surrounding and near a lot of place to eat Wifi a bit not stable inside the room
- Alfredo (9/5): Superb -
- Praditya (8/5): Very good -
- Kuri270692 (8/5): Very good -
- Niels (8/5): was a great place to stay, we highly recommend ! Still be prepared for some noise and light :) - We loved the location, great welcome, service and coffee place a bit noisy (busy road, mosque) and no curtains on windows
- Dw_amel (8/5): Nice!!! - good location,,pantry access 24 hr,,the staff very nice,,they even help me to provide a box for my stuff,,good ambiance with coffee shop in front of the guest house,,so it is a very nice spot for chill while waiting or spent your idle time. unfortunately,,there is no slippers..
when i stayed, there are some renovations right next to my room, so it's a little bit inconvenience,,thankfully it only until the afternoon.
- Rebecca (9/5): We loved our stay at Chendela and highly recommend! - The hosts were delightful - warm, engaging, and so helpful in every way. The property was charming and in a great location. Breakfast was from a coffee shop on the premises and choices were okay but rather limited.
- Jannes (8/5): Very good -
- Risangdaru (8/5): Very good -
- Tsvetan (2/5): Very poor -
- Martina (7/5): Good Stay in Yogy - The people were really nice and good value for money We had a lot of ants in the room and it wasn’t that clean. The water in the shower was cold after one of us took a shower
- Matt (7/5): Great location but quite loud - The owners were really kind and helpful, and the location was perfect. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was really well kitted-out. It’s a very central location so that does mean it’s very loud at night. In particular the call to prayer woke us up at about 4.30am each morning. We’d recommend having breakfast earlier rather than later as some of the options ran out towards 10am.
- Artur (6/5): It’s ok to stay here for one night 👌 - Friendly stuff, lovely inside garden 🪴 Poor breakfast (only coffee they offered and a donut), so we always had to order and pay for extra foods. Bad sound isolation - we could hear all moving scooters and cars from outside. Impossible to sleep without ear plugs.
- Ruben (8/5): Very good - A little oasis of peace in the middle of the city. Beautiful place. Breakfast could be better. A bit noisy in the morning.
- Carol (8/5): Very good -
