Guest Reviews
- Hsiaopin (8/5): Very good - Frankly speaking, the hotel is located in a small alley and is difficult to find, especially at night. It was simple here, but after the Elder took me to Sanuna,I slept well and my cough and cold healed. Location
- Galvit (9/5): Superb - Staying at the hostel was one of the highlights of my trip, thanks largely to the amazing hospitality of the owners, especially Elder. From the moment i arrived, Elder made us feel right at home, sharing everything there is to know about San Juan La Laguna. He even took the time to give my friend and me a free walking tour through the town, showing us the different cooperativas and local spots. By the end of our stay, it felt like i had made a new friend. The dormitory mattresses were brand new and incredibly comfortable — I honestly had the best sleep I’ve ever had in a hostel. And to top it all off, the hostel has a lovely terrace where you can sit back and enjoy a beautiful view of the town. If you are considering doing the Indian nose hike for the sunset, you should definitely go with Elder. The stay was definitely worth the money. I have nothing negative to say 😁
- Samantha (9/5): Elder is an incredibly kind and happy host, he made the stay comfortable, central location! -
- Simone (8/5): Very good - Elder, the host was very nice and informative and spoke English and Spanish. He told me all the things I could do in area and walked us to a Mayan Sauna . It was like a hostal in a house so felt like a homestay. Unfortunately, they do not have a kitchen to use but Elder told us where to eat for a great price. The terrace on top of house had wonderful views. It was unfortunate for me that Elder was not there for my first couple nights. It was a bit tricky to find it for the first time. Look for small sign on door in alleyway.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Spiritaway (8/5): Great value for money. Good location - Elder the host was really friendly and helpful. I got a single room, the bed was comfy and the wi-fi was decent. Good location, close to everything and a bit away from the busy street. Great value for money. No kitchen
- Elsa (4/5): Disappointing -
- Samuel (10/5): The host is a great guy - The host, named Elder (hopefully I spell it correctly), is an incredibly nice guy. He speaks Spanish as well as English and is very keen on giving advise about what to do in San Juan. He also offers tours, like seeing the sunrise at the Indian Nose viewpoint. We were the first ones on top and the last ones who went down there. He also took us to a beautiful rock on which you can climb after the Indian Nose viewpoint, which other guides don't do. We had breakfast together at a local restaurant with very good prices (you can't find these places without the help of a local). We had good conversations and laughed a lot. In my experience booking at a local homestay is way better than booking at a hotel/hostel that's ran by foreigners. We elongated our stay with one night, because we liked it so much there.
- Matas (6/5): Just a place to spend a night - Kind owner, comfortable beds Location is bad - long walking narrow street full of dogs poo. The hostel was empty. Bad WiFi. No alcohol allowed in the hostel. No chill zone, no kitchen. Just a place to spend a night.
- Qi (8/5): You get what you pay for. Not a bad option - Quiet location and very near the sunrise view point. Clean sheet. Price is very competitive compared with other places.. There is no place to hang your clean clothes in the shower room, not convenient.
- Petra (7/5): Value for money - Location - elder is very knowledgeable and can organise almost anything for you Dog shit everywhere is the alley leading to hostel, difficult to stir around in the dark.
Can be loud when others return home.
- Wesley (7/5): Good -
- Mario (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arturo (10/5): Exceptional - The host is so lovely! Great place to stay for exploring San Juan and the surrounding area.
- Zuly (10/5): I loved my stay in Sanjuanerita I felt very confortable and Concepcion the host went above and beyond with her hospitali - It was safe, very friendly owners. It was tricky to get there, but the friendly owners help us to get there. Once you know the way was easy to be in and out.
- Léa (10/5): Relaxing stay among locals in a picturesque town - Our host Helder was exceptional - he made sure we had everything we needed, and he gave us excellent information about the town, available activities, and transportation. San Juan is a relaxing place to stay, and this hostel is a few streets away from the main street, so you have access to everything you need, but you get to live with the locals and have a more authentic experience.
