Guest Reviews
- Paolo (10/5): - Ali
- sanne (10/5): - Ali is the best host. As good as free accomodation with very small prices for food and tours. Amazing!
- Jurgen (10/5): - We had a great time with the very hospitable host. We loved the authentic experience
- maryam (10/5): A True Bedouin Experience! Wish I stayed longer - Wow what an incredible stay I was blown away! Ali is an incredible host and I had such a comfortable stay. You really get to experience an authentic bedouin lifestyle. The room was very clean and had everything I needed. The tent outside was a nice space to hangout in too. The included breakfast was so great. fresh bread and a variety of local foods, including olive oil stright from their trees in front, and the tea was so delicous.
Its in a smalll local village, and you can walk right into the desert (although its enormous). Ali was able to arrange tours at a really good price, and could add home cooked meals, evenings by the fire. You dont just book a place to sleep, its an entire experience.
Highly reccomend coming to Wadi Rum and styaing here, you're away from all the tourist trap stuff and prices, and get treated so well nothing, everything was so wonderful
- Zuzana (10/5): A wonderful beduin experience - This staying was the best out of all we stayed during our Jordan trip.
We highly recommend to book it.
The room and other house spaces where clean. The place was warm even there is no heating. Plugs need an adapter if you coming from Europe.
The view from terrace is perfect: desert everywhere even you are not directly inside it you feel like you are there.
Dinner and breakfast consist of authentic traditional food. It was so delicious.
The communication with Ali (WhatsApp) upon arrival was amazing, we negotiate everything in advance: tour through Wadi Rum, food ect.
Ali gave us also tips when we were planning our Jordan trip.
We would like to thank Ali and his family once again for giving us an unforgettable beduin experience. We greatly appreciated his hospitality. Having tea, listening to traditional music, and talking over dinner was amazing. Our thanks goes to his brother for desert tour. Moreover, our thanks goes to his other brother for showing us their animals.
- Laima (10/5): This was the best place we visited in Jordan! Friendly people, real bedouin experience! - We had REAL bedouin experiences! The host Ali brought us to the desert on his jeep, also gave us a great dinner for a very good price, and spent with us a lot of time. He was so friendly, cheering and entertaining us! We loved him and also his friendly family. The breakfast was also very good, included in the price. And the camel ride was so good, not expensive.
- Filipa (10/5): Exceptional - Ali is a great host! We stayed at the house that was more than enough for the 2 of us. But we spent most of the time in Ali's tent, where we also had the meals.
Ali's mum is a great cook and we loved the food.
Ali offers all kind of tours (jeep, camel, etc) and he doesn't force you to take any. I really recommend doing one because price is more affordable that the one group tours and you basically go on a private tour.
You can also room around the property, feed the camels and help in other chores.
Ali has a good heart and also hosts people through couch surfing.
We really enjoyed this peaceful and authentic experience. There was a couchsurfer staying there at the same time and asked Ali if he could join our jeep tour and Ali said he would have to ask us. We said yes he could join but it would have been nice if he would have offered to contribute a bit. Ali was very very considerate, he was all the time trying to move away the couchsurfer from the jeep open part where we were, to the co-pilot spot. We could see Ali was trying to make the presence of the couchsurfer smoother and we had the feeling that Ali was more stressed about the presence of the couchsurfer than we were. So one note to others travelers (not to Ali at all!): if you are a couchsurfer I understand you may be on a budget (we also couchsurf sometimes) but if you join somebody's tour that they are paying for and you are not maybe offer to contribute a bit and also think about your host, you should not put them in a hard position.
- Paulo (9/5): Local experience - Ali is nice host! He’s place is really close to the desert, u can easily do some free hike or stargazing at night, it’s a authentic local experience.
- Tomasz (10/5): Amazing place with the best hospitality - Best authentic place with an amazing hospitality and great owner. You can experience the local life and explore Wadi Rum in the best way.
- Mauricio (8/5): Nice stay at the Wadi Rum desert with a genuine Bedouin - To clarify: I am rating here the stay at the desert in a tent with my host, Ali. The story: upon arriving at my accommodation in Wadi Rum, I asked my host if he knew about tours to the desert, camel ride, etc. And (of course), he happened to offer all of these. So, I bought the pack of camel ride, jeep tour through the Wadi Rum desert and a night in the desert, bedouin dinner and breakfast included. It was a very nice experience. Ali is a good host and cook, and, as a real Bedouin, he can tell you all about the desert, while showing you bedouin games and taking care of the fire. A very enjoyable and recommendable experience. This is a heads-up for the future clients of Ali, rather than things that I did not like: Do not expect an hotel style comfort. You will be spending the night in a tent on the dessert sand, besides a rock hill. The setup is very simple, but works OK (just a bit hard). If you have concerns about food cooked on the spot (cleanliness or others), then talk to Ali before starting the adventure and ask him to explain all in detail. For me all was very enjoyable.
Just one minor, easy to fix, thing to recommend to Ali: don't let your alarm run unattended for one hour at 5:00 AM
- Liudmila (10/5): Exceptional - It was incredible experience and hospitality by Ali and his family. The night in the desert was greate.
The whole Bedouin experience was awesome. Thanks
- Jackie (10/5): Ali is an exceptional host. We enjoyed wonderful Bedouin hospitality and experience. We had a fantastic overnight desert - It was very authentic staying in the compound with the Bedouin family and being entertained by them. The host was the best host we have ever had. He went beyond our expectations at every turn. We were expecting breakfast but he provided us with other meals as well. He included us in the nightly feeding of the animals, offered an exceptional desert experience which was great value. He also helped us with transportation to his home by booking a taxi and booking our bus to our next destination Can’t think of anything
- Vojtech (10/5): Exceptional - Hospitality connected with honesty sculpt very good experience. We have been informed about life with camels, local life. Also best dinner i had in Jordan. Fine host genuine not artifical.
- Noëlle (10/5): Exceptional - I was lovely. Really delicious
- Yahya (10/5): super nice and clean place I liked the peaceful there i felt i am one of there because the location is inside the villag - super cozy and cool and peaceful nothing at all
- Simon (8/5): A rememberable and simple stay that made us experience a new culture - We were warmly welcomed by Ali‘s family, ate very delicious dinner as well as tasty breakfast from Ali’s mother in their Bedouin tent.
The Bedouin culture is special and you can prepare for it. We slept in a separate house but it is not like a hotel. Ali gave us several tips where to hike and cycle in Wadi Rum close to his home. We were quite alone in the desert with amazing views.
We are thankful for this kind of experience we made and for the new things we learned. As you explore a traditional Beduine life you sleep on thin mattresses with blankets. There were no sheets, clean towels or toilet paper. Maybe consider to bring some things of your own if you don’t want to miss anything.
- J (8/5): Ali is Amazing Host -
- Samer (10/5): Ali, who is occupied with everything there, the accomodation and the tour in Wadi Rum is very cool that he does his best - So clean, Close from the protected area of Wadi Rum, its price is good comparing to camps there Nothing
- Miles (10/5): Exceptional - Great stay in a local village. Able to hike to amazing locations from the accommodation. Delicious food and large portions. Awesome experience.
- Felipe (10/5): bedouine entrepreneur - Ali is a bedouine guy that lives in Wadi Rum. He lives with his family but he has a tent in front of his parent’s house, and in this tent he welcome the couchsurfers to the desert life. He also has another house where he host the guests for a couple of nights. Ali is friendly and can create a glimpse of the bedouine atmosphere in his place. He does tours to the desert with his truck and he charges a good price for his guests.
- Zohra (10/5): The best experience ever - We really loved the experience 🥰 it was amazing
Ali and his family were very kind and friendly, they helped us a lot , he also booked for us the bus to petra . We really appreciate it 🙏
The food was delicious 😋 the tea 🍵 is the best tea that I've ever tried
The Jeep tour was fabulous 👌 we had nice photos 📸 the views, sunset , and camel ride ♥️♥️ Ali showed us the best spots and photo positions to have the perfect photos 📸
I recommend this Bedouin experience 👌 thank you Ali 😊 Everything is good 👍
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - We had a wonderful stay at Alis place, he is a superb host and also took us on a great jeep ride of Wadi Rum. The hospitality is second to none and if you would like an authentic experience of Bedouin culture, then this is the place to go!
- Marcaar (10/5): Perfect stay just outside Wadi Rum - The house is located on a quiet road next to Shakaria village, which means it's accesible with a normal car (not 4x4 necessary). Very private and just outside the desert. We had an amazing stay and the owner made everything so easy and was very flexible about check-in and out times, number of people and everything else that we requested, making sure all was nice and convenient for us. He and his mom even brought over homemade breakfast one morning and he arranged a jeep tour for us with almost no notice on such a good rate. I've been already a lot of times to Wadi Rum and can assure it was one of the best stays value for money.
- Stefanos (10/5): Exceptional - I had an incredible stay at Ali's beautiful house in Shakaria village. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and comfortable in his tent. The accommodations were fantastic, the home was clean, cozy, and had all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. You could even stay in his tent for the experience . What really stood out, however, was Ali is hospitality. He went above and beyond to make sure that I had everything I needed, including providing me with delicious food and sharing his extensive knowledge of the local area. His tips and recommendations helped me to see and experience parts of Wadi Rum that I never would have discovered on my own. Overall, I would highly recommend staying with Ali to any traveler visiting Wadi Rum. He is an exceptional host who genuinely cares about his guests experiences and goes out of his way to ensure that they have a memorable stay. You can also have a jeep tour, or camel ride in really good price. Thank you for everything Ali.
- Anna (10/5): Best trip ever! - Ali took us on desert on jeeptour, sunrise, and cave trip with traditional Beduin dinner. He's amazing host! I recommend Ali to everyone. Best time of our lifes! Wadi Rum rules!
- Aaron (8/5): Satisfy your curiosity about bedouin life with a generous host - I met Ali through Couchsurfing and he was kind enough to take me in for a night in his village of Shakaria on the edge of an iconic expanse of Wadi Rum, and tried to get me to stay for three. He gave me a well-plotted activity of the perfect things to walk to and sent me on my way. Can help you get a camel or jeep ride to the desert for a more than fair price if you want to splurge a little. He fed me delicious Bedouin food and tea and made me feel at home in his cozy abode. Introduced me to his family and his family animals. You couldn't ask for more.
It's not a scam and he won't ask for any money. He just wants guests who harbor genuine curiosity about how his community lives and don't want the "stay in a hotel and only interact with the locals when you're hiring them to do stuff for you" vacation too many people default to. Go here to actually connect to the people and place, but don't bring resort sized service expectations. Very low-key and easy to get along with youngster. Worried about my safety when I stayed out a little too long in the desert. .
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional - Staying with Ali was one of the best experiences of our stay in Jordan. This is not a hotel, we were welcomed into his family and home. His mother made some amazing food, we had a lot of fun during the evenings in the tent and tried out playing the Rebab. He also helped us with the activities in Wadi Rum without being pushy at all. We ended up going camel riding with his brother for just 2 JD each and the next day we did a hike to Jebel Kharazah which I can very much recommend. We stayed in a newly built house which was simple but clean. Also you have a lot of space.
It's an amazing place to stay and experience the hospitality and culture of Beduins. Thank you very much for everything Ali!
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - Superb location. No need to venture into Wadi Rum. Just behind the house the desert with its magnificent landscape starts/
- Aliaksandr (10/5): Exceptional - It's a really good way to understand Bedouin life. House is located in small village in Wadi Rum. U can see how real people live. House is very comfortable, with hot and cold water supply. Also available Bedouin tent with fireplace. There are camels and goats nearby. Owner is a very good person
- Kimberly (9/5): Superb -
- Witek (10/5): Awesome time with bedouin Familyl - Thats was true Bedouin experience. Ali have great knowlege of all Wadi Rum. He show me a lot of beautyfull places which I will remember for the whole life. I really recomend to try it!!! Conditions of accomodation are not that comfortable becouse of clean. But in my opinion Thats is part of bedouin life. So if you want try it you shoudl expect this.😃
