Guest Reviews
- Louisa (8/5): Lovely peaceful break in the Exmoor countryside - The cottage is very spacious and well equipped and in a lovely peaceful location. The numerous potholes in the lane leading to the cottage which are in need of urgent maintenance before a guest seriously damages their vehicle.
The only fault we could find with the cottage is a lack of lock on the bathroom door.
- Jean (10/5): Really enjoyed staying at the cottage, warm comfortable clean and great location - Great location.
Clean, luxury towels and toiletries.
Warm and well appointed.
Very comfortable bed. We slept so well.
Clear instructions on how to get into the property. Very minor point but a sign at the beginning of the drive would be helpful, we found it a little difficult to find as down an unmarked lane.
- tricia (10/5): The darkest and quietest place we have ever stayed, stars and a good night sleep guaranteed! - Location was amazing. The darkest and quietest place we have ever stayed in. My son loved star gazing - good use of the sun loungers and I loved waking up naturally as no noise at all. No animals outside making their normal farm/countryside noises, no cars, even the hosts who live next door were exceptionally quiet, you would not know they were there. We had a lovely walk across the fields one morning into Simonbath to the cafe there - great choice of meals including all day breakfast. The location is very remote, but we were close to all the places we wanted to visit. We have an EV, found charging on the M5 south of Bristol a nightmare (one charger at each services). Lynton Upper car park (not lower as stated by Osprey app - first carpark on the right as you come into Lynton) has 3 chargers - after 6pm parking is free and the chargers were all available. Nice fish and chip shop along the promenade was open until 8pm. There were also 4 chargers at Arlington House NT, these are the slow ones you plug your own cable into. But if there all day, it makes sense. Recommend the river walk along to Watermeet too - although the 2 miles there felt a lot longer! The cottage was cosy and very well equipped, including tea/coffee, fresh milk, shampoo, shower gel, soap, washing up liquid, towels, tea towels, comfy beds, lovely and clean, Netflix, great Wifi and very private. Would stay there again without hesitation. Only one thing would be the pot-holes in the lane heading up to the property. Not too many of them but enough to be annoying. It is possible this is something that is fixed after winter and as we visited in early spring might be on the to-do list still.
- Emma (10/5): Stunning location and very comfortable and cosy accommodation. Perfect! - Stunning location and very comfortable and cosy accommodation. Perfect!
- Marion Wanderlust (10/5): - Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt und wären gerne noch länger geblieben, wenn es die Zeit zugelassen hätte 😊
- Marcel (9/5): Hele fijne rustige plek, echt Engels -
- King (10/5): - Very comfortable cottage

- N (10/5): I would definitely come here again! - It is really a wonderful cottage with very comfortable beds, dark bedrooms (nice in the mornings ;)) and a very well equipped kitchen. De sofas are great and having a garden and a big tree for shade is very nice with kids. Very private as well although the main house is around the corner. Nothing.
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Great property, with nice finishing touches. Perfect for our family of four, with plenty of space.
We wanted to do some astronomy and take advantage of the dark skies. The location was perfect!
Hosts live next door and could not have been more accommodating - even offering to turn their lights off in the evening to give us darkness for star-spotting.
Property is a good base for exploring Exmoor with all the main attractions nearby.
We’ll definitely be back. Nothing, it was perfect for our needs.
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional - House smelt amazing. Lovely open plan kitchen and lounge area. Comfortable bed with white cotton bedding. Large bath towels. Quiet location but close to couple of good pubs. Owners nearby if needed.
- William (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (8/5): Very good -
- Charles (10/5): Lovely cottage in a fantastic location right in the heart of Exmoor. - The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Exmoor. If you like hiking, trail running or mountain biking, it's a ideal place to stay with access to the trails from the doorstop. The cottage is very spacious and well equipped; you won't find any better self-catering accommodation in the area (and I've been visiting Exmoor for many years).
- Jean-mathieu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (10/5): Beautiful cottage in stunning location. - Thoroughly enjoyed our short break at this delightful cottage. In fact we loved it that much that we have booked to go again next year.
Beautiful peaceful location. Cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing break. Owners very friendly and helpful.
- Hanneke (9/5): Very comfortable stay - Clean, cozy, all facilities needed were there, location, quiet —-
- Rachelle (10/5): Quaint and well equipped cottage. Magical environment. - Remote yet manageable travel to tourist attractions Nothing to say
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely perfect location for a relaxing weekend Nothing
- John (9/5): Superb - Wonderful location. Great cottage feel. Clean and fluffy towels. Just one idea. If you could provide a few basics such as milk and instant breakfast oats or similar as it is remote. We arrived on a Sunday when no ships were open nearby...
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Adhoc (7/5): Good - the views parking
- Mark (10/5): Lovely place, very quiet, perfect hosts. - Everything was perfect, lovely place ran by lovely people, communication was excellent and the place was lovely, a lot of little narrow lanes and tracks to get to it but I guess that's part of it's charm.
- Pamela (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): FANTASTIC COTTAGE. We had a great stay in this lovely cottage with the added benefit of a dark sky location and million - Location, quality of fittings, size, beds, everything! Nothing.
- Conor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (10/5): 2 days wasn’t enough to stay at this beautiful place and location. - The location was beautiful and the property was so adorable and very clean. We could not find anything not to like.
- Sara (10/5): A little slice of heaven! - A beautifully decorated cottage in a tranquil spot. Good quality bedding & towels & very comfortable beds too. Fantastic walks on Exmoor on your doorstep. Great communication with the hosts who offered lots of useful information on local attractions, walks & pubs. We will definitely be visiting again. A bit more crockery/cutlery would be good plus some sharp knives & a bathmatt. However none of these niggles detracted from a wonderful stay.
- Miriam (9/5): Idyllic spot for people that like to reconnect with the great outdoors and avoid crowds. - A lovely secluded cottage in the middle of a scenic countryside. The perfect escape from the hustle of everyday life. There wasn’t anything not to like. Cozy, clean and safe.
- Jacquie (10/5): Exceptional - The Cottage was excellent, the beds were very comfortable, fixture and fittings were a very good quality. It is in a very peaceful location with only the landlords for neighbours. We could not have asked for better accomadation.
- Kel (8/5): The cottage is a high standard...it's welcoming and comfortable - Wi-fi. As we were walking to the cottage, we had no phone signal or internet connection to receive your email about the location of the router and it's access code. We arrived very tired after a very long day's walk and were unable to find it until the morning. Could a note be left with the wi-fi code?
Though my companion and I are close friends, we definitely didn't want to share a bed....and one bed was unmade.
My companion is allergic to plug-in, scented deodorising systems
- Lorna (10/5): Lovely stay when walking the Two Moors Way! - Beautifully furnished home, all items were lovely and comfortable. Bathroom was great and beds and bedding super comfy. All perfect.
- Rebecca (9/5): Fabulous cottage for a relaxing family stay! - Such a cosy and welcoming cottage. Great facilities and location. We enjoyed local walks, to the nearby pub, and a great base to visit Exmoor and the coast. A welcome book with details on the area would be useful.
A range of kitchen knives, instead of just the one would make food prep simpler.
A shower /bathroom mat would be a good addition.
- Linda (10/5): Wonderful stay. 1st Class Cottage. - The cottage was so clean, very homely, and when we needed wood for the log burner, it was there within 10 minutes of asking. Fantastic communication from the host. Nothing to fault. Wonderful place. Road leading to the property had large pot holes, but we drove slowly, and it was OK.
Maybe add a coffee table for cups just so that they don't need to go on the floor. Just a suggestion, not a criticism.
- Ieva (10/5): Lovely cottage with incredible views - Wonderful place with incredible views where you can really switch off, enjoy nature and have a nice cosy evening inside by the wood burner. The cottage was beautifully renovated with lovely rustic detail and thoughtful touches throughout to make you feel welcome. Super comfortable beds too for a good night's sleep. Zoe, the host was very responsive and helpful, and responded to all our queries very quickly. Would 100% book again. Thank you.
- Daniel (9/5): As a pair of hikers who needed a lovely comfortable place to cook some food and stretch legs this was really unexpected - Lovely decor, so many details attended to, attentive host who messaged a few times which was lovely, The property is excellent. It’s newly on the market. A few things need tweaking. No big deal.
- Chrisa (10/5): Perfect little hidden gem - The place was amazing - very comfy and cozy. Fully equipped and great value for money for a short or long stay. Very fast internet as well. Would absolutely stay there again. Can't think of anything I didn't like - it was perfect
- Claire (10/5): A perfect retreat, one night was not long enoug - Very clean and immaculate.
- Rakesh (10/5): Exceptional -
