• Cynthia S (10/5): Gemütlicher Balkon am Nankham - Sehr nettes Personal und sehr hübscher Gartenanlage. Wir haben viele Stunden auf dem Balkon mit Blick auf den Nankham und den Phousihügel verbracht. Das Frühstück und Speisen vom Restaurant werden einem an jedem beliebigen Ort serviert. Der Pool ist hübsch und sauber. Braucht man Unterstützung bei der Reiseplanung, bekommt man diese hier.

• Janine (10/5): Ein total entspannter Aufenthalt in ruhiger Lage, mit super freundlichem Service und nur kleinen Dingen, die man noch ve - Das Personal war durchweg sehr hilfsbereit und herzlich, sodass wir uns von Anfang an willkommen gefühlt haben. Unser Bungalow direkt am Fluss war wunderschön gelegen und hat eine ganz besondere, entspannte Atmosphäre geschaffen. Wir haben uns dort rundum wohl und gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Ein echtes Highlight war das leckere Frühstück auf der Terrasse, bei dem man den Tag entspannt mit Blick ins Grüne beginnen konnte. Auch der schöne Pool hat zum Verweilen eingeladen. Besonders genossen haben wir die Ruhe in dem liebevoll angelegten, wunderschönen Garten – ein perfekter Ort, um nach Ausflügen abzuschalten. Gut zu wissen: Die Unterkunft liegt etwas außerhalb vom Zentrum – für uns genau richtig, weil es schön ruhig ist. Gleichzeitig fährt mehrmals täglich ein Shuttle in die Stadt, sodass man trotzdem ganz entspannt hinkommt. Der Bungalow ist sehr charmant, könnte jedoch an der einen oder anderen Stelle ein kleines Update vertragen.

• Lee (8/5): Nice bungalows on river, chilled spot friendly staff - Nice location on the river, arrived after a long flight so great place to relax and recharge. Nice balcony on your bungalow over looking river, free pick up from airport, very friendly helpful staff. A bit far to walk in to night market but they run regular shuttle bus into the centre and pick up free. Free bike hire we cycled in one day. Also on site restaurant, nice food. Help with onward booking bus or train, tours Queen bed mattress in our bed very hard.

Det er noget tid siden at stedet blev bygget så det er lidt gammeldags. Men alt virker. Maden er prissat godt - men ikke den store oplevelse.

• Adair (10/5): Lovely tropical respite - The property is situated right on the river in a beautiful, well maintained tropical setting. We were served a delicious breakfast on our veranda over the river. The staff (subject to note below) were so warm and helpful, in particular Chan and Yuan(sp?). We loved our stay! We had a brief and unpleasant encounter with a man who appeared to be the owner or manager. We found him unnecessarily curt and aggressive. Also, though no fault of the property, there is a loud Chinese karaoke club across the river that goes on late into the night. This however did not bother us as we had the windows closed and the AC on.

• Simone (9/5): Guesthouse mit Traum schönen Garten - Wunderschöner Garten mit tollen Sitzecken. Unser Bungalow war direkt am Fluss Nahm Khan. Es gab einen Shuttlebus den man kostenlos bis in die Innenstadt nutzen kann und zurück. Leider war es am Abend bis in die Nacht laut mit Partymusik vom gegenüber liegenden Flussufer.

La piscine est très agréable et propre. Des navettes gratuites pour le centre ville Vraiment trop de bruit la nuit avec la discothèque chinoise à proximité.

• Jacqueline (9/5): Génial - Une vrai Guesthouse pleine de charme ! - L’hôtel est une vrai Guesthouse. Le service est impeccable (navette, recommandations pour les visites etc..) en plus d’être chaleureux. Les excursions proposées sont de qualité et à bon prix (nous recommandons l’excursion de Pak Ou). Les chambres sont propres, mais le vrai atout charme est le petit-déjeuner, garni et servi sur le balcon de sa chambre en face de la rivière ; le yaourt est fait maison :). Le restaurant est également très bon. Quelques « petits » détails : la piscine était légèrement froide à notre goût et la salle de bain un peu sommaire, mais cela reste secondaire compte-rendu du reste.
• Marisa (10/5): O paraíso mais belo e tranquilo do Laos, com as pessoas mais simpáticas do mundo! - Tudo! Simplesmente foi tudo o que imaginarei mas 100 vezes melhor. Fomos para o Laos e especialmente para este alojamento para descansar depois de uma longa viagem de um mês, abrandar o ritmo e alcançar alguma espiritualidade nesta cidade que inspira a isso. Os bungallows com vista rio têm uma vista incrível, são muito espaçosos, a varanda é mesmo de sonho, a casa de banho parece uma outra divisão gigante, o pequeno-almoço foi o melhor que comi em hotéis (e nós viajamos muito!), o jardim é lindo e bem arranjado, a piscina é maravilhosa e nós usámos bastante, enfim… o que dizer? Mesmo que não arranjem quartos com vista mar vão para os que têm vista jardim porque também são lindos e sossegados, mas não deixem de conhecer o hotel. Todo o staff é de uma gentileza enorme, muito simpáticos, também conhecemos os proprietários e levaram-nos a participar no Tak Bat na zona do hotel e fiquei muito emocionada por ver o Tak Bat mais autêntico embora com poucos monges, pois no dia anterior na cidade achámos muito “turístico” e não estava praticamente ninguém nativo do Laos e apenas turistas a participar. Os donos e funcionários do hotel no geral conversam imenso com os hóspedes, explicam coisas e têm muita atenção com o bem-estar de todos atendendo rapidamente às solicitações. Foi um dos sítios mais incríveis onde nos alojámos e ficámos muito tristes por vir embora. Não fica no centro, por isso é sossegado e oferecem um serviço de transporte gratuito para a cidade e para voltar e também para o aeroporto. Um dia voltaremos! Obrigada por tudo! Não foi não gostar, apenas achámos o wc frio para tomar banho porque os bungallows com vista rio nunca apanham sol e a casa-de-banho é feita de pedra e o duche com pouco isolamento.

Das leckere Frühstück wird zur gewünschten Zeit auf die Veranda gebracht. Das Kissen war für meinen persönlichen Geschmack etwas zu hart und zu hoch.

• Julie (10/5): Fantastic guesthouse filled with kindness and great service. - Everything was wonderful from the beautiful grounds filled with flowers and orchids everywhere to the clean large rooms with balconies. A real plus are the Riverside bungalows. Everyone of the staff were beyond thoughtful and kind. They provide a free shuttle service to town as they are a bit outside in a peaceful, quiet area..The restaurant had excellent food with a nice variety. You could choose one of four breakfasts served on your balcony. There is a great refreshing pool to lounge by. We've been around the world and I would place this near the top for it's value. Nothing. We even like the tiny, loud frogs!

• Carly (9/5): Beautiful property, lovely staff <3 - Breakfast was so delicious, so nice right next to the river too. The garden on the property is gorgeous and well maintained. The staff are so very kind and accommodating. Just the bar across the River that ran from about 2030-0200 on 2/3 nights I was there. But it’s not Thongbay’s fault.

• Jean-Pierre (10/5): Top verblijf. - Niet normaal hoe vriendelijk en behulpzaam deze mensen zijn. Eigenlijk niks, maar het is een half uurtje wandelen tot de night market. Wat voor ons zeker geen probleem was. Er wordt ook op regelmatige basis een gratis shuttle voorzien en tevens zijn er gratis fietsen beschikbaar.

Nous avons profité des vélos pour sillonner et découvrir la belle Luang Prabang. En réservant en dehors du centre nous avions espéré la tranquillité. Malheureusement les nuits sont souvent bruyantes entre les mariages, un bar avec musique très forte, et la route côté piscine. Bouchon d'oreilles à prévoir.

• Stéphane (9/5): I would recommande - The property is well located, slightly away from the hustle and bustle, set in a beautifully maintained and pleasant garden. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful; they can organize anything you need without ever being intrusive. Breakfasts are varied, generous, and very well served. However, if you wish to rent a scooter, it is better not to go through the hotel’s partner agency, as the scooters are not in very good condition. That said, the hotel does provide bicycles free of charge.

A bit of a hike out of town. Unfortunately, there is a bar that plays loud music across the river. Owner/manager seems a bit hard at first but I think he is actually a softie once you break his shell!

• christian (10/5): Fantastic guesthouse - We stayed at the Thongbay guesthouse 4 nights in December 2025 and liked it so much that we stayed again in January. The bungalows are situated in a lovely peaceful garden and breakfast of your choice is served on your terrace. Staff is so helpful and caring and we really loved this place. Shuttle service to the center of Luang Prabang is available every day. We highly recommend!

Don't miss the pork chops! Shout out to Bouavanh, who was exceptional. She picked us up from the airport and was wonderful helping us get train tickets that had sold out! Beds and pillows little hard! They helped by providing a soft pillow when asked.

Firstly, the whole staff are extremely friendly and were available to assist with everything- airport transfers, laundry service, shuttle to and from the old town (not too far away). The whole place has a very homely feel, lots of personality, while being set amongst a lush tropical garden setting. Breakfast was fantastic. There was a great selection - delivered and set up for me on my balcony every morning. My room was perfect. Very spacious and comfortable, and the view over the river was stunning. Highly recommend! Breakfast every morning on the balconies was a great way to start the day and the property itself is beautiful. I enjoyed it being a little ways away from the hustle and bustle of the city and they provided shuttles back and forth. There is a karaoke bar across the river that likes to have a good time till late in the night but was manageable.

• Martin (10/5): Parfait et très joli ! - La vue sur la rivière est très agréable. Le bungalow est spacieux, bien décoré et bien équipé. La gentillesse du propriétaire et de tout le personnel, le petit déjeuner sur la terrasse. La navette aller et retour vers la ville est pratique, nous n’avons pas été gênés par l’emplacement de l’hôtel. Un point d’amélioration sur le petit déjeuner qui est bon dans l’ensemble mais on s’attendait à un peu mieux : pancakes plus chauds, cuisinés, café un peu meilleur.
• Donna (10/5): - We stayed here for 5 nights and absolutely loved it! The surroundings are beautiful, full of charming details. The pool and the cottages are lovely, and it’s very peaceful. We didn’t hear anything from the other side, despite what some reviews mentioned. Our cottage was right by the river. The beds were comfortable, and the breakfast and meals were delicious. The staff are incredibly kind and always willing to help. You can borrow bicycles and they often drive you to town, or you can go on foot, by bike or by tuk-tuk. Over Christmas, they even organized a lovely dinner. We would highly recommend staying here!

• Jacqueline (10/5): Ruhige Unterkunft am Flußufer - Wunderschön am Fluß gelegen. Das gesamte Personal war überdurchschnittlich freundlich und an der Rezeption wurde sehr gutes Englisch gesprochen. Es wurde sich um jedes Anliegen (Transport, Rollermiete…) gekümmert. Frühstück wird zur gewünschten Zeit auf der eigenen Terrasse serviert, es stehen verschiedene Optionen zur Auswahl. Wir haben uns bewusst für eine etwas abgelegene Unterkunft entschieden, es war ca 25-30 Minuten zu Fuß ins Stadtzentrum, mehrfach täglich fährt ein kostenloser Shuttle. Zimmerreinigung erfolgte täglich. Wasser kann kostenlos aufgefüllt werden. Wir hatten einen ganz tollen Aufenthalt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Es war alles perfekt für uns

• ANNA (10/5): The service here is EVERYTHING - The shuttle service was excellent. A large, clean, comfortable van, and multiple times a day made it quite convenient. (Especially after a hot day, the AC in the van was heaven.) Breakfast was so good and having it on our atmospheric terrace, watching the slow boats drift by over the river, was an amazing start to every day. The grounds are such a vibe, with little shaded nooks to sit and relax. But what made Thongbay an absolute gem is the service. Not only are all the staff so kind and helpful, but Bouavanh at the front desk went above and beyond. She booked our train tickets for us, one to Vang Vieng and the other to Vientiane, and when we took an overnight boat trip to Nong Khiaw, she let us keep our bags at the hotel overnight and had them waiting for us when we returned. It's the unsurpassed service that makes Thongbay an absolute 10. The water pressure in the shower is a little weak for our liking, but that's so minor compared to all the positives of Thongbay.

• Marcel (6/5): - Pick up service from the airport was very good. Breakfast was good and a nice service to deliver to the room. First night we had a small noisy room (bunglow) that was not worth more than 20 USD. All decent rooms were occupied. Staff apologised and agreed but could do nothing. Second night they moved our stuff to a nicer room (bungalow) which was close to the river. But the advantages of being outside the centre and close to the river were not really there. It was noisy at night, boats with music on the river, party at the neighbours etc. Very cheap warm water heater, so in the winter months the shower is not very warm. All in all it not very good for the money.

• Sandra (10/5): A quiet+charming guesthouse offering outstanding hospitality,lush garden+a truly relaxing atmosphere - Our stay at this guesthouse exceeded all expectations. The staff were exceptionally friendly, incredibly helpful, and always eager to fulfill any request. The property is located in a wonderfully quiet area and features a beautifully maintained, lush garden. Some bungalows are nestled within the garden, while others offer relaxing views of the river. The pool is spotless and cleaned daily, making it perfect for a refreshing swim. A convenient shuttle service to and from the town center is available at set times. One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast service: guests can choose from four menus, and the meal is delivered directly to the bungalow’s terrace at the preferred time. Overall, it was an outstanding experience, and we truly enjoyed every moment. We would return to this guesthouse anytime without hesitation. There is truly nothing to complain about during our stay. The experience was excellent in every aspect. The only thing worth knowing in advance is that it takes about 20 to 30 minutes to walk to the town center, or you may choose to arrange a transfer instead. Other than that, everything was absolutely perfect.
