Guest Reviews
- Lisa (8/5): - Great layout.
Great value for money.
Easy checkout. The curtains and blinds .
Didn't block out the light properly.
Kitchen blind didn't go down, was broken.
- Catriona (8/5): - Really clean and the bed was comfortable. Nice outside space and plenty of parking too.
- Margaret (10/5): -
- Purves (5/5): - Location was nice, Room was nice enough Bed was half broken on arrival, then every time there was movement in the bed another part would come off, was already being held up by a travel cot. Could be wrong but the bedding also didn't look like it had been washed from the previous guests.. few little marks and creases on it.
- Judy (10/5): Good - Bright ,clean and quiet Washing up washed and left to drain made it feel like it had not been cleaned for some time(just the impression). Coffee and tea there but no milk. As only a 1 night stopover it got us through with the local shop( pub was closed early week)
- Julie (7/5): Cosy and comfortable. - Great location and very peaceful. Lovely warm bedding. Small but good shower. Stains on settee and crusty, dirty mark on pillow on bed. More info about cooking facilities on booking site would be helpful
- Nicholas (9/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): - really good space perfect for family of 4 with dog. great location in village. Lovely sitting area very comfortable. Perfect for family stay near relatives Kitchen facilities were disappointing - advertised combined microwave oven did not work, so managed small meal with the airfryer and one indction hob ring. Would benefit form even a small acffiriere to satisfy coffee drinkers (also only 2 mugs and 2 small tea cups). Also no dishwasher tablets provided so we needed to get.
- Kirsten (10/5): Gorgeous Apartments in a beautiful setting - I have stayed at Meldrums 3 times and it's always fantastic. A warm and relaxing environment run by lovely people who go above and beyond to deliver an amazing experience Nothing negative, it's a real gem
- Brian (8/5): -
- Gina (9/5): -
- Carol-Ann (9/5): -
- Luke Armstrong (8/5): Great night away - Great value for money and lovely apartment, clean and tidy and great location. Could have done with having an oven as well as a microwave.
- TIM (9/5): -
- Anne Charlotte (9/5): - Très bel appartement, bien équipé
- Milne (9/5): - Lovely apartments I couldn't stay longer
- Jane (3/5): - Good convenient location with easy parking. Lack of communication from hosts.
My booked accommodation was unavailable so hosts allocated alternative suite without any explanation/conversation.
I would never have booked this option due to-
Ground floor position
No separation of cooking and sleeping facilities
Flimsy door and lock causing security concerns
- Lynne (9/5): Lovely apartment, very welcoming hosts and fantastic food - The apartment was huge. We received a lovely welcome when we arrived and the apartment had everything we needed. We were able to eat in the restaurant which was downstairs from the apartments and the food was exceptional. I had fish and really enjoyed it and my son had steak which he said was lovely. The tablet ice cream is the best I have tasted of that flavour. I don't think it could have been improved.
- William (8/5): Lovely Apartment in Ceres - The apartment was spacious, lovely and clean. Extremely comfortable The TV would not work. We called the number in the guest book numerous times without reply. We then tried the number in booking.com and someone answered "I will see what I can do". No more communication after that. We were really disappointed that this spoiled our experience.
- Claire (6/5): - The apartment was beautiful very well furnished and decorated There were no towels
There were no toiletries, hand soap shower gel etc
No cloths, dish towels
Also very cold at first until we worked out how to use the central heating.
I found a long black hair in the bed, im blonde.
- Peter (8/5): -
- Timothy (10/5): - Spacious!
- David (8/5): - Spacious apartment for 2.
Plenty hot water for shower.
Very clean. Peaceful village location. Easy drive to St Andrews.
- Marina (10/5): -
- Lucia (10/5): - Amazing apartment
- Laura (10/5): A comfortable dog friendly space very well thought out lots of things there that we didn’t need to bring - Very quiet and peaceful Nothing
- Nicola (9/5): beautiful suite, very cosy and comfortable - Beautiful suite with all home comforts available. Very clean, cosy and warm. Collecting the keys was a faff. I arrived outside of opening hours so i was directed to the doors to the apartments but then had to figure out that the keys were left at the front of the building. It was very confusing.
- Joshua (9/5): Quiet, peaceful and full of history. - I liked how helpful and kind they were. Even she a burst pipe occurred, they did everything to help us by temporarily moving us to a room until it was fixed. The private garden for the apartment , however lovely, wasn’t properly secure as one side was linked with rope and had a sign to which can be difficult to read in the dark as I counted multiple people using that way as a go through. Didn’t feel very private.
- Grace (10/5): -
- Lorna (10/5): -
- Richard (8/5): Great stay, very clean and comfortable for the price point. Oven and hob would better suit . - A little tricky as we thought the names on lock boxes were the other folks staying!! Need to brush up on famous Scots from way back! I think a small hob and oven would be better suited than an air frier.
- Dawn (10/5): - Lovely apartment
Everything we needed for short stay.
- Darren (10/5): Lovely accomodation -
- Aidnik (9/5): - The space was big, open and clean. The kitchen was clean and easy to use. We stayed one night and it was very nice. I'd stay again. We had a small problem with the hot water n heater. Our host was amazing at fixing it quickly and checking in a few more times to be sure we were ok. It's just a pickup and it was ok... but the only issue qe had.
- Robert (9/5): Great stay in central Fife location - Excellent location for what we wanted to do. Self contained, well thought out, quiet, good heating, near to Cupar for supplies, centrally located in Fife.
- Robert (7/5): - Nice and quiet False info on the website regarding food in the Meldrums
Website says plenty of restaurants available there isn’t.
Short of plates and cutlery.
- Steven (10/5): - Beautiful apartment, staff couldn't have heen more helpful
- Amanda (9/5): - Very spacious well-equipped apartment for 2 people. Dominic the host was very helpful.
- Fiona (10/5): - The property was in excellent condition- exactly what we required for a group of 6 - we had both top floor apartments. Daniel in particular was very friendly and helpful
- Richard (9/5): -
- Susanna (10/5): Un apartamento encantador!
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Johnson (10/5): - No Breakfast, however there was a very very nice restaurant below. The location was about 30 minutes outside of St. Andrews, so there is nothing around it, as it is in a small village. Very pretty area.
- Karen (8/5): Stylish apartment in beautiful Ceres - Stylishly designed and decorated. Seems spacious although one room apartment. Very comfortable bed. This is not accommodation for someone who likes to cook their own food. There’s no hob or oven. There is a microwave and air fryer.
- Andrea (10/5): We were so pleasantly surprised by the Meldrums. Lovely location, great staff and a delicious restaurant. We wished we h - It was spacious and comfortable. Very clean! N/A
- Marco (10/5): - We had a wonderful time; the apartment was comfortable and cozy & the food we ordered from the restaurant was delicious.
- Montgomerie (8/5): - Very comfortable apartment. Excellent shower and comfy bed. Kitchen well stocked with utensils. Surprise that there was no hob but managed well with microwave and airfryer. Portable electric hob was broken The communication after booking. We sent 3 messages to the property. None of them were answered until we were forced to contact booking .com help centre day before arrival which involved a London call centre...expensive. after calling the hotel to discover they are closed and would answer any messages the day after we were due to arrive
Perhaps the proprietors could make clear that there will be no correspondence until the day before arrival, then guests will not panic about not being able to access the property.
I note that this has been an issue with previous reviews.
We ate in the restaurant on first evening. No welcome from the gruff waiter.
Arrived 7.30pm and main course did not arrive till 9pm ....we had a sharing plate of bread and olives as a starter.....despite only 12 guests in restaurant 5 of whom were almost at dessert stage when we arrived
Our complaint was bruskly received by the waiting staff and he explained that the restaurant functioned better when busy!!!!
The food was delicious on arrival, but by that time, our appetite had waned. Disappointing.
- Thomas (8/5): we stayed 2 nights, was very peaceful and accommodation was clean and comfortable - location was ideal for our purpose , no breakfast option some milk/sugar/tea bags would have been a nice touch , shop not far away but just for arrival
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Susan (10/5): - Everything was really top notch and being able to purchase food from the restaurant to have in the apartment was the cherry on the cake. The thought that had gone into the layout was really good. I wouldn't say we didn't like it but we chose it partly on the enclosed area. Although it was enclosed for us a more boistorous dog than ours could easily wander off.
- Merrin (10/5): -
- Xavier (9/5): Super cosy ! - Très jolie décoration Le micro-onde ne fonctionnait pas correctement. C'est tout !
- Bill (8/5): Bedding down (or not) on the Fife Pilgrim Way. - Very handy for the Fife Pilgrims Way. The accommodation was of an excellent standard and very clean. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. In one room the mattress sagged in the middle and it the other room the headboard was coming apart for the bed itself was not comfortable. This was a shame because everything else seemed to be in good order.
- Jane (5/5): Adequate but no more than that - We had been told that we would receive a door code for the key box 24 hours before, we actually received it 10 minutes before we were due to arrive - this caused some anxiety for us during the day. Lack of basic items - like tea towels and a wash cloth to clean surfaces.
- Hans-Gerhard (9/5): -
- Claire (5/5): Awful communication impacted our stay - Apartment was lovely and styled well. Couches we're comfy, plenty of parking, plenty of storage. Communication prior to staying was awful, we had to contact booking.com to help with access. We requested a travel cot - no response, had to buy our own, requested early check in - no response. In the apartment there were no tea towels, no handwash in the bathrooms, one toilet roll, (we had to buy items to cover these things). If the communication was better and the cleaning wasn't rushed, this would be a perfect stay, until then, it means you have a very stressful addition to your trip.
Other reviews indicate that communication is an issue.
The pub was meant to be open on the Wednesday but it wasn't.
- Sarah (10/5): A wonderful apartment in a lovely village. - The apartment is fabulous, next to a restaurant. It’s full of mod cons, very comfortable and clean. There was a thoughtful written manual with recommendations of walks and places to see and eat at.
Will definately book again. Nothing.
- Gordon (6/5): -
- Hadar (8/5): - Spacious apartment; well decorated, renovated Local tv channels would have been nice;
- Derek (8/5): Lovely. - Even in self-catering, other properties offer courtesy tea coffee and milk on arrival. Some even include biscuits etc. Could offer breakfast in the restaurant.- not offered. We know it's meant to be self- catering.
- Cavalli (9/5): -
- Karine (10/5): Lovely apartments in the hear of Fife - Spacious and beautiful
- SouthernSpice (9/5): - Cleanliness, facilities, friendly staff, restaurant below, location. No milk with the coffee machine.
- Grant (8/5): - Apartment was spotless beautiful location, couldn’t fault it.
- Ali (10/5): - Very comfortable. Very nice apartment in a lovely village. Friendly staff. Liked everything.
- Pip (9/5): -
- Noah Clay (7/5): Pleasant but ruined by extremely thin walls. - The location was very quaint, small walks nearby and great proximity for a day out in St Andrews and Cupar The smell of cleaning products lingered for a long time.
half a roll of toilet roll was all that had been provided. the walls were very very thin and unfortunately had a less than considerate family slamming doors, screaming and banging all hours of the night and morning, it was so loud you would of thought they were in the very same room .
There was nobody around to check out with.
- Wilhelmina (10/5): Super beste accommodatie tot nu toe - Het was echt heel erg schoon. Het appartement was super ruim en van alles voorzien. Alles was perfect
- Candice (8/5): Great stay, close to shops and services. - Clean and organised There was no toilet paper
- Forrest (8/5): - Excellent location especially for dog owners. Everything on the level. Not enough cutlery or dishes or cups. Only 2 or3 of everything. We may have had friends meet us but no cups etc for them. Difficult to locate until a last minute request.
- JON (10/5): Beautiful apartment, enjoyed my stay - Well designed, lovely furnishings, good quality items, very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the outdoor patio. Beautiful restaurant with nice food. No toilet rolls on arrival
Waited over an hour for dinner to arrive as they seemed very short staffed.
- Mark (7/5): Great location would recommend assuming that the cleaning issue was a one-off error - Good location, free parking, small village close to St Andrews. Restaurant on site. Large room Room clean in general except for shower. A number of used bandaids still in corner behind folding shower door. Very disappointing.
- Frederic (10/5): -
- Julian (10/5): Meldrums is our favourite option near St Andrews. Every time we have stayed there we have never been disappointed. - It was just as good as it always is. Nothing.
- Ian (10/5): A very clean place with exceptional rooms - Did not have breakfast
- Lizzie (9/5): Very comfortable and clean and quiet. Definitely stay again! - Very lovely apartment. Clean and has all the conveniences with en suites and kitchen.
Close to St.Andrews for day trips. Nothing
- withmilk (10/5): Perfecte! - L’apartament es perfecte! Res a dir! I el propietari i la gent del restaurant molt simpàtics ens van fer a menjar mes tard de la hora. Moltes gràcies! Que no hi hagi un foc per cuinar però per una nit no passa res
- Tuckerman (3/5): Disappointing. - The actual facilities were OK. Clean and comfortable with plenty of room and parking space. Very poor communication. Lucky to run into another guest to give us the accurate number to contact the property. No contact at all leading up to the stay. A poor couple after us turned up to a room with no information on how to get in & once they figured it out the room was not made up. Thank god we could help them with the number of the owner. Washing machine and dryer were broken which I was not advised of so put my clothes in the machine and they became half wet but not washed and then could not dry them. No eating options open in the town. Good location near St Andrew’s but would not stay here again.
- Iain (10/5): - The food and the apartment were superb
- June (8/5): Beautiful clean and well equipped apartments - Lovely well equipped apartment, very clean. Friendly and welcoming host, all very good Very noisy couple in next apartment came home at 1.30am very drunk and having a blazing argument. Sound proofing between apartments upstairs not good, felt like we were in the same room. We even considered getting up and driving home, until the neighbours finally passed out.
- Susan (7/5): -
- haihong (5/5): - 厨房用品比较齐全 双人床只够一个人住,差个吃饭的桌子和椅子
- Matthias (9/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Paul (7/5): -
- Helen (9/5): Would be 10+ with a refreshed mattress and pillow arrangement - Fabulous little hotel. Great restaurant. Very quiet but very close to so many attractions in the area Only complaint i would have is the mattress and pillows could do with renewal Mattress was a little saggy and pillows were very flat and felt ‘old’
- Christie (10/5): Fantastic. Highly recommend! - Clean, quiet, good restaurant, comfortable stay!!
- Cyndi (10/5): Fab little relaxing haven - fabulous property with its own little private garden. Had everything we needed to totally relax and wind down. Will definitely be back
- Cockburn (9/5): -
- Paul (8/5): - Very spacious self catering apartment, close to supermarket, pub, countryside, bus route, ample parking. Very private. Nothing
- Hmm (9/5): Great location - The apartment is very spacious with plenty of room for a family. Full living space and kitchen. They had parking at the property which is a huge plus for us. Everything was clean, and very cozy inside. We arrived after hours and the instructions we're very easy to understand and get into our room. We couldn't figure out how to use the air so without the windows open (no screens) and didn’t see instructions on air, just heat, it got quiet warm inside over night.
- Robert (10/5): Wow the perfect place to stay - Everything - possibly the best room we have ever stayed in Nothing
- Riccardo (9/5): -
- Dean (4/5): - A beautiful apartment in a cute little village. Great spaces in a well set up apartment. Rude/vacant male staff member upon arrival. No niceties. The room we booked was opened to the sight of the previous guests' drying dishes. Not a great start.
We booked in for a meal downstairs and arrived on time. The restaurant was half full. We had to ask for our second round of drinks due to the waiter fluffing around. After an hour of waiting for our meals, we decided to ask to eat in our room, which was aggred to. Half an hour later the food arrived. 1.5hrs after we ordered.
The apartment was really nice, though the floors were disgusting with fluff and dog hair, add in dog hair in the throws/blankets as well. Not up to acceptable standards. All in all, a huge letdown.
- Verónica (10/5): - Muy acogedor Los dormitorios un poco chicos
- Marilyn (10/5): A pleasant welcome to Scotland - Easy to locate, rural setting, ample parking, quality restaurant next door, private entrance to the room, with private garden, generous size & styling of the room ('Valentine'), ease of contact, our dinner table was waiting for us. Would stay again! Nothing.
- Carolann (8/5): - Location was in a lovely village.
Property was clean and modern.
Staff were lovely. Soundproofing was not great.
Could have done with essentials i. e. condiments, oil etc...
The chef in the restaurant did help us out tho.
- Serge (1/5): - There was a snafu with the code for the key and we could not get communication with the owner. Everything was closed in Ceres, so we ended up having to reserve a room at a hotel in St -Andrews. We will ask for a complete refund of what we paid for the Meldrums apartment.
- Kevin (9/5): -
