Guest Reviews
- Nanilavanya (4/5): Needs Better Cleaning and Basic Facilities - The location was decent and the stay was manageable for one night. The restrooms were not clean, which was very disappointing. Also, there was no TV in the rooms, which made the stay less comfortable.
- Saranya (1/5): -
- cse (6/5): - Ok
- Bidyuta (5/5): -
- Narang (10/5): - Great Location & well maintained property. Mrs Mrinalini is quite welcoming g
- Hari (1/5): Bad -
- Sharath (8/5): Excellent stay.. good value for money.. - It’s on very good location and just 5 min walk to beach. Host Sampath and Mirnalini are very helpful. If the property had some food option, it would me more good :)
- Trichy (7/5): Good -
- Pradeepbliss (9/5): Costlier home stay at mahabalipuram - Comfortable home stay with family and its near to beach Price is higher compared to other home stay
- Prashant (6/5): It was cool & pleasant stay. Near to beach. If you don't like dog then there is issue - Location & Space Stray dog rooming inside gate of house
- Matt (3/5): Perhaps they are more friendly to locals - The welcome was very unfriendly. There was blood on the sheets. The key to the front door didn't open the door. Perhaps it would have, if the host had explained how to work the complicated lock. I decided not to stay here and went elsewhere.
- Manish (8/5): Very good - Location Wifi
- Bharat (8/5): Very good -
- Jagadeesh (10/5): Exceptional - Nice place Nothing
- Joseph (1/5): We were ill-treated. - The landlord ill-treated us. We were asked to remove slippers to enter into the facility. We were told not to talk and remain silent. The stairs leading to the rooms were not clean. Not recommended for people who value their dignity. We did not stay there and had to leave and find out alternate place to stay.
- Ganesan (10/5): Exceptional - This was a pleasant experience of home stay. A quiet family home, the landlord and staff are friendly. Within a short distance there is a south Indian restaurant A2B and the beach is also very near from home (5 min walk). I certainly recommend this homestay for all families
- Suseela (2/5): Unwelcoming host! - The room was spacious. Room and bathroom was generally clean with good toilet and shower .facilities. Also good supply of hot water The room windows, bathroom door and windows were quite dirty. Pillows were old and lumpy. The only toiletteries provided was a bar of soap. We had to ask for some glasses. Only 1 towel was provided for both of us and when I asked for another, host seemed surprised as if it is understood that we needed to share. Also it is misleading to say the rooms have balcony, when the balcony is a common 1st floor balcony shared by whole house. All of these were not big issues for us, but the real shortcoming of the place is the host herself. She was so unfriendly and emanated such an unpleasant vibe that the moment we entered, all we wanted to do was leave immediately. She did not even offer a hello when we arrived, insisted we pay immediately and just had such a cold demeanour throughout. Even as we were leaving, she only spoke when I said goodbye and even that to only tell me to give her a good review! And to think prior to arriving we were thinking that if it was comfortable we would like to add booking for a week or more!
- Jyoti (8/5): Very good -
- Shantha (5/5): Disappointed based on previous good reviews - Ambience There was no one available. Staff were not there to address the issue. Could have been more clean. No one was there to ask if we needed anything. Disappointing stay.
- Vidya (8/5): Very good - Loved the stay , the house was in perfect location , very central to all monuments in mamallapuram .. we stay with our 1 yr old and it was very easy to get back to stay for nap time . Also very near to A2B , so we were sorted food wise . And mrunalini mam let us use the kitchen to prepare food for our kid .. it was a wonderful stay
- Karthik (9/5): Superb - Home stay is good. Very calm with lot of space Non available of tea making utensils.
- Anshima (6/5): An amazing experience !!! - I liked the way Mrinalini mam greeted us . She was continuously in communication with me till we reached the destination. The location was superb . We could hear the sea waves sound from the balcony. aunty also provided plates when asked and allowed to enter her kitchen to taking hot water a suggestion :-
1. care taker at least should know English so that it is easy to communicate when the owner is not there. it was tough to communicate to him
2. if there is a electric kettle .. it will be great so that we can make out own tea or coffee or have hot water and some mugs and satchets of coffee/tea/ sugar
- Nikhil (10/5): Awesome stay and great location - Great location, hosts are really accommodating and helpful. Clean and close by to beach. Nothing, everything was exceptional
- Karun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mani (9/5): Superb - The place is extremely good, clean, highly spacious and comfortable for a family stay...
Good value for money.... Little uncomfortable with the dog... Otherwise excellent place to stay much peacefully and comfortably with family...
- Ganesha (10/5): We stayed at Mirnalini Homestay for 2 days during our trip to Mahabalipuram. Mrinalini madam and Sampath Sir are very fr - Friendly and welcoming hosts. Great location. Clean and neat. Proximity to places of interest in Mahabalipuram as well as good restaurants. Nothing.
- Allareddy (7/5): Good -
- Vijayaraghavan (8/5): Very good -
- Narasimham (7/5): For a family of four, for a short stay would be good - Good location. Friendly host. Nice property The property doesn't offer breakfast. The staff (a watchman and a cleaning lady) are not that responsive. Not many restaurants nearby.
- Dr. (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sanil (9/5): Superb -
- Nandakumar (10/5): Exceptional - Silent and peaceful place.
- Pranav (10/5): Exceptional -
- Saseendran (8/5): Very good - Calmness and safety being a home. A dressing table required. We have to use the small mirror placed inside the washroom.
- Vinay (10/5): It was a pleasant stay, and we look forward to visiting the place again. - The property was extremely clean and well - maintained. The hosts were very warm and welcoming. The rooms were spacious and came with clean bedding. Their family dog was very cute and lovable too!
- Urvi (10/5): Stay as your own home - Good budget friendly stay Breakfast can be included with option
- Manch (10/5): Mrinalini is a nice host, helped in planning the itinerary. Value for money. -
- Anindita (8/5): Very good -
- Ravi (8/5): Great house and hospitality! Must stay to understand South Indian culture - The house, it’s very beautiful and one can experience the true nature of a South Indian stay. Everything was great.
One can have lunch and dinner easily at the A2B restaurant, however I feel that there should be an option to get tea/coffee in the morning as some of us(specially me) to wake up in the morning.
- Chinthala (9/5): Superb - Location and cleanliness
- Prashant (9/5): Superb -
- Subramani (7/5): Good -
- Anindita (8/5): Very good -
- Govindaraj (8/5): Very good - It's a home. car parking outside only, common entrance was not comfortable. 1.8k per day was a good offer. common entrance, no worker, no breakfast
- Sana (7/5): Good -
- Pooranalingam (9/5): Superb -
- Ajay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (6/5): Pleasant - The rooms are big and beds comfortable. I had to ask for a cup of tea in the morning and a water refill. It was not offered as part of the welcome
- Shalina (8/5): Clean, safe and well located - A very nice homestay, very reasonably priced, in a road opposite to A2B from where we had our food, all major attractions are nearby..good spacious enough rooms for two, large common living area and balcony and absolutely clean bathrooms and linen. We were a group of four women and we felt it was a safe location. initial part of the public approach road has no lighting. There is only a common entrance which was a small inconvenience.
- Kuldeep (9/5): Excellent - Location and cleanliness Workers
- Suresh (7/5): Good -
- Anish (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guy (6/5): Good but some issues - The room was large, clean and comfortable. The house is a short pleasant walk to the town and beach. The hosts were courteous though more reserved than engaging. The score has been lowered because there was no wifi in the bedroom and on last night and morning the floor between my bed and bathroom was covered with many hundreds of dead and dying ants. These may have been disturbed by the building works next door,
- Srinivasan (9/5): Family holiday - Access to the property is good. Beach &, A2B restaurant are very close. Ideal for quite family holiday. Host is very helpful.
- Zaosh (8/5): A Home Away from Home - Cozy and Peaceful - For anyone looking to stay a little away from the noisy town of Mahabalipuram & willing to stay with 2 old, retired people who value peace & quiet (this property is in a nice, peaceful place around 10 mins away from town & run like a Homestay), this is your best choice.
The property is close to the highway (5 mins walk) & has many restaurants nearby (like A 2 B), the caretaker is helpful & can even bring you back your meals on his scooter (as he did for us when it was raining) & Aunty/Uncle will make you feel at home & serve you lovely coffee (early in the morning, mind you) & make you feel at home, however possible.
The rooms are big, AC is powerful & 2 rooms have lovely balconies facing the beach + 1 big common area on 1st floor (the owners live on ground floor, main entrance is through a common door so you wont have a separate entry & cannot come back too late either)
Mrinalini Aunty manages the stay & is extremely responsive on WhatsApp too.
Just remember to treat this stay as you would any friend's or parent's home, thus enjoying your stay at Home Away from Home 1. WiFi range in some rooms is a little less
2. Sad to see their family dog chained all the time, did play a little with the cutie though
- Dharmalingam (10/5): A home with amenties near to all the main locations - Our family had a fantastic time. Highly recommend for those seeking a peaceful stays. Ms. Mirnalini Mam helped beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Will definitely return!
- Nevin (10/5): We had a great stay at the place. The rooms were spacious and exceeded our expectations. - The hospitality was excellent. Mrinalini madam was very kind enough and made us feel at home. The rooms were spacious with all facilities.
- Uday (8/5): Nice stay - Its more like a home where first floor is rented out for guests. Room is spacious along with the loving room with AC facility. Host Mrs. Mrinalini was good and assisted us in minor issues.
- Cyril (10/5): Exceptional - I was on a holiday with my japanese friend and my sister. The homestay was the best to experience local culture and home environment . We were all taken care of by the host and domestic staff. Property has lovely rooms and a terrace. Great garden and close to the UNESCO heritage sites.
- Mayank (9/5): Superb - The stay was nice . Room was spacious and comfortable. Proximity to beach is a big plus point . Mrinalini aunty's is very helpful and cordial .
- Ganapathy (9/5): Nice accommodation at Mahabalipuram for face - The house was quite spacious and quite close to the beach. Near to restaurant like A2B. Facilities such as fans and air-conditioning were very effective. Nothing specific
- Anirudha (10/5): Exceptional - Stay was very nice. Property is very big and very well maintained. Mrs Mrinalini is very helpful and tried to help with everything.
- Sajesh (8/5): Very good - Spacious room and beautiful place with budget friendly stay.
- Samraj (9/5): Great homestay - Good place. Very well maintained and clean. We have to disturb the owners every time as we go out and come as the entrance is through their hall.
- Ramapriya (8/5): Pleasent experience - The property is good and the location of the property is very close to places that we need to visit.
- Himanshu (8/5): It was a good stay and owner of the property is nice person. - The property was nice, spacious, and clean. We received a warm welcome from Mrs. Mrinalini (host) and she ensured our comfortable stay. Thanks for making us feel at home.
All tourist attractions like group of monuments and eating joints are within 2 km of this property. If you are pure veg there is Anand Bhavan just near the property where you can have hygienic quality food. Toiletries were not there, not a big deal but nice to have in case you forgot your own.
- Dayanand (10/5): A perfect homestay you can't miss in Mahabalipuram - The house is very beautiful. The rooms is spacious. Ms Mrinalini ensured we have all required things.
Thank you for your hospitality All good, except that we are pet parents and we saw your dog tied full time and it broke our hearts. Requesting that he needs to be freed, he's a cutie
