Guest Reviews
- Pawel (10/5): Good for weekend trip or Arsenal game - Great and super friendly host, really nice breakfast (English breakfast but not full) in the restaurant downstairs, location with tons of restaurants and pubs around (try the Jamaican one) and also around 10-15 mins on foot from the tube or the Emirates Stadium. I was missing some table / chair set up or a hanger in the room, cause it was quite spacious but a lot of that space was unused. The front door are a bit tough to close but that's not a big issue (like the first one). The bathrooms could be more clean though. Thin walls and windows, the street noise can be easily heard even with windows closed but we treated it as a part of the general London experience đ Thanks again for having us!
- Akshay (1/5): Bad -
- Christian (5/5): Solid choice if no other options. Be flexible though, room can be quite different than what you booked. - Busy and diverse area, lots of bars and restaurants! Not as described, and quite overpriced. Clean and proper room if youâre looking for a place to stay. Check if good hotels at same price, though!
- Argha (7/5): Good -
- James (10/5): Friendly, accommodating, great breakfast. - They really helped me out when my luggage was lost, looking after it when it was finally delivered while I was out. Amazing breakfast too! Could be a bit cleaner.
- Tim (8/5): Very good -
- Adam (8/5): Initial communication was a bit slow but everything was fine once I got into the property - Very convenient location in a quiet street.
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roland (6/5): Pleasant - Breakfast was delicious.
- Marco (2/5): Very bad, I do not recommend - I liked the english breakfast at the bar in front of the building and the kindness and friendliness of the owner The house was small and dirty, with stench in the stairs and corridors. The equipment in the kitchen was dirty and unusable. In the bathroom there were hair, ants and sponges (with hair) in the shower.
The door to the room is too thin and you can hear everything going on in the other rooms, also the window was broken and taped up, so we slept hearing all the street noises and with the cold wind blowing on our heads. It was like having the window open.
The first night we couldn't wash ourselves because there is no hot water and we have a cold room because the heater doesn't work. Also the first night we had several problems, we had no light, no hot water, no heater, the towel had brown stains, we could not charge our phones, in fact the next day we had several problems visiting the city without google maps. On the third night we had no hot water and could not wash ourselves, the owner simply told us that the boiler was not working
I'm putting this in the review to avoid uncomfortable experiences for other visitors.
- Chris (8/5): Great value for money. - The owner was very friendly and helpful. Other quests a bit noisy.
- Sueng (7/5): Good -
- Corcoran (2/5): Very poor -
- Phillip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Siimosa (10/5): Needed a place to sleep after a gig instead of travelling home, was more that suitable - Clean and simple
- Volodymyr (9/5): Perfect place to stay for 1-2 nights. - Great hospitality. Equal price to this conditions. Very close to Arsenal stadium. Good breakfast included. Just little thing. Noisy at night if your windows look on road.
- Michelle (10/5): Amazing in every way ! - Friendly staff, clean and tidy and very close to the emirates stadium! Excellent value for money ! N/A
- Gabija (9/5): Superb -
- Wojciech (10/5): Great place, good location, friendly staff! - Large room, friendly staff, nice breakfast included in the price. Radiators donât have thermostatic valves, during the night you can not control temperature in the room. But I was told it will be amended đ
- Miki (4/5): 3-4am disturbance by someone who attempted entry into my room - Location. Easy. the closest station is Arsenal, on the Piccadilly line. Bus stops are nearby. Shops on the street are easy to get to etc. conveniently located. To clarify - The studio room still means you have to use the shared toilet and shower. This is not an en suite studio. For bathrooms - there are two. The one closest to the studio, and two rooms on the top floor have the smallest, narrow bathroom. There is another bathroom on the second floor next to the kitchen, lounge and other room.
CAUTION: I had the studio room (garden facing). Someone attempted to access our room at 3-4am in the morning. A very scary experience! Ensure your room is locked and keep the key in lock. I let the manager know I would be leaving this caution in my feedback, I think it is very important.
- Frederik (8/5): Very good - Great and friendly service - and I recommend the breakfast.
- Tobiasz (5/5): Passable -
- Kieran (10/5): Amazing budget location - I chose this location,
Based on how convenient, & budget.
The photos were accurate, was a small cosy accomodation, right in some spaces,
Which the photos on the listing revealed.
- Jack (9/5): Superb - Cozy family-run suite of apartments, conveniently located near Finsbury Park station and provided great value in the North London area. The staff were helpful, courteous and understanding.
- Lucrezia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Courtney (8/5): Very good -
- Ginni (8/5): A gem of a place to stay. - This was oerfect for my work stay. The location is excellent, not too far from the main tube station and on a road wirh everything you could need. The owner was lovely and couldn't do enough for me. Excellent food and coffee and a free breakfast from his cafe over the road.
The apartment was roomy witb some nice touches, plenty of storage space and the shower was great.
Really good value for money. Only that I could have done with a bedside lamp but really no complaints!
- Lucinda (4/5): It was not great. - I thought the breakfast was nice, in their cafe opposite. The room didn't have an ensuite bathroom, the blind in the room doesn't go all the way down, which compromises privacy and wakes you up with the light in the morning. Not sure how trustworthy they are in terms of cyber stuff, the wifi isn't safe.
- Ashleigh (5/5): Passable -
- Smith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ugo (7/5): Good -
- Carron (1/5): Owner would not refund , would not recommend - Location is only good thing , we did not stay at the property we handed keys back in after 10 mins as felt unsafe Communal Toilet door did not lock you could open it from the outside as photo and was up lots of stairs to get to the toilet so stuck if was opened , room was grotty and a sofa bed not a bed and had mould on the walls and felt unsafe .
- Ana (6/5): Pleasant - the room was really good and everything was very clean, staff was very friendly and the building was easy to access, it also had a bus stop right outside the shower room was very small and it made the shower difficult to access
- Nicholas (9/5): Superb - The place was accessible The shared living room.
- Selena (4/5): Disappointing - No private bathroom. Blinds don't fully close. Huge noisy fridge in the room. Decor awful. Way too expensive for someones badly converted kitchen.
- Agathe (9/5): Superb -
- Connor (7/5): Very good for travellers on a budget and you get what you pay for so unreasonable to expect a five star hotel but itâs g - It was good value for money Kettle had a bit of lime scale so just didnât use it and the shower was either boiling hot or freezing cold but was manageable
- Sarah (10/5): Fantastic hosts and wonderful value for money. - The room was really clean and large for two friends sharing..The shared kitchen and bathroom are all very clean and have everything you need to cook. The location is fantastic, close to tubes and buses.
The owners of these rooms are the most friendly and welcoming hosts. They run an amazing café across the road too, when we arrived they gave us coffee.
This is a wonderful find and will now be our 1st choice when staying in London.
Thank you. Nothing.
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
- Twyana (1/5): Bad - No breakfast provided Bathroom filthy
Room no tv
Cold room
Thin sheets
- Hao (9/5): Superb - Location is great and the room is very clean the boss welcomed to me on arrival he is very friendly also running the coffee that serving breakfast. the fire alarm sensor Started to beep around 5:00 AM disturbed my sleep a bit
- Thomas (4/5): Knock off accommodation at a knock off price. Don't know what I expected. - Breakfast across the street in a cafe was nice. Passably clean. Grotty building. Looks like an unlicensed business as no signage whatsoever on the street, difficult to find. Bathroom comically small. Lots of noise from road.
- Roshan (9/5): Superb -
- DamiĂĄn (8/5): Very good - Great accomodationd and host, even got a whole appartmetn next door instead of a room, metro is just a few minutes away also Lidl and other groceries and shops are close by, also restaurants and cafes
- Marko (9/5): Superb -
- Maurice (1/5): Bad - I like the location. Because of it's easy accessibility The one in charge was so heartless and cruel in handling me.
- Rachel (7/5): Functional stay in London - The place is great value compared with other places, but that means you're forgoing a lot of the nicer amenities.
The neighborhood is on the busy side with a mix of restaurants, pubs, cafes, and shops. We definitely took our time exploring some of them!
The host was very nice, accommodating, and responsive. They addressed the ant problem the very next day. The host and his brother are not too far away, so they will meet in person to give keys and show the main communal areas. The studio that we rented had a small kitchen, which included a stove and fridge and a pull-out sofa. Again, it is not the nicest place but functional. There are two communal washrooms. The one on the first floor has a tub and shower, and the second washroom upstairs has only a very small shower. Overall, the biggest issue with this place was cleanliness. There is some mold on the shampoo bottles and ants in the washroom, but if you can accept these small inconveniences, the place is very functional. We spent the entire day out and about and only really washed up and slept here.
- Mariusz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rahima (7/5): Good -
- Samantha (8/5): Had a very pleasant stay, apartment was in a great location - The location was great, right out the front of a main bus stop The bed was a little uncomfortable
- Mariusz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Great location for Arsenal games. Host was very accommodating with letting us check in early. -
- Ramon (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was exceptional. Very friendly host. Breakfast was included at the owners cafe across the street. He even upgraded our room for free and we had the whole house for ourselves. Thank you!
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional - Ease of communication with owner and staff. All very helpful, considerate and problem solved. Breakfast was included which we did not realise. Great way to start the day. Whenever we need assistance it was provided.
Bed was comfortable.
- Emma (5/5): Good value for money in a great location - Great location in a nice neighborhood, only 8 minute walk to the arsenal tube stop. The room was comfortable and nice to have access to a kitchen to make coffee and tea and store a few things in the refrigerator. We had some trouble with the washing machine and it took over a day for the owner to fix it. One of the showers leaks and the drain was clogged. Also we needed to call the owner to let us in when we arrived which is hard when traveling internationally.
- Vali (9/5): Good valie for money - The place is great value for money. It's well equipped with the basic things you need. We used the sandwich maker. Althought the bathroom is shared, we never met anyone alse using it in the same time. No heating, but the blanket kept warm.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Curtis (2/5): Very poor -
- Marie (4/5): You are sharing a small London flat with 3 other groups. Conversations from other rooms are heard. -
- Leticia (10/5): I enjoyed our stay. - I liked how clean the apartment was. I liked how there was wifi in the room. I liked how close the apartment was very close to the emirates stadium and close to the tube station. I didn't like how the bathroom door didnt close properly and I couldnt fit the key in to lock the bathroom door.
- Lucas (4/5): Not worth the money - The breakfast was the highlight of our stay. The communication with the owner was good too. The property name is misleading: it's a bedroom, not an apartment. The description is also a bit misleading as both, the toilet and shower room are shared with the other rooms. We were assigned the "studio" room which was a sofa bed (not a proper bed) in a kitchen. The window blind wasn't long enough to cover the full height of the window, so we had to tie a towel to it. This room is not ideal for a light sleeper as it can be very noisy. You can hear EVERYTHING coming from the other rooms.
- Mihaela (10/5): Just what we needed - As we went to London to visit what the city had to offer, we did not plan to stay around too much in the apt.
We mostly needed a place where we could eat a bit in the evening, take a shower and to rest.
This place offered everything we needed: hot water for more than a decent shower after a long day, a well-equipped kitchen, and a large enough room with a comfortable bad.
On the floor where we stayed, there were 4 other rooms, I think, and two big bathrooms (with a toilet & a shower each). They were never all occupied at the same time, maybe, as we never had issues with the bath, or with the kitchen.
In the 6 days that we spent there, we met other travelers only once in the kitchen.
The apartment is clean, the furniture is brand new (I guess some aspects regarding the cleanliness can also depend on other travelers).
The place is also very well located, at 10' from the Piccadilly tube, and 1â from the bus station (which is literally in the front of the apt building). Line 19 can take you to the city center in about 40' and I guarantee you will also enjoy a perfect view.
It is also very close to Emirates Stadium â which you can also visit, at least from the outside, and you will find around a lot of Arsenal dedicated pubs (such us the Gunners).
The breakfast that came with the room was a +, delicious and in the cozy café owned by the same person, and it was very close to the apartment, just across the corner.
Special thanks to the owner who accommodated us when we arrived (earlier that we announced), for the free coffee that he offered on the 1st day, for keeping our baggage during the last day, and for the interesting discussions.
I consider to have had a very good communication with him, in person & via WhatsApp. Nothing was a turn off for us.
- Beatriz (8/5): Very good - Very cozy apartment and kind host
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Elmira (8/5): Very good -
- Vanesa (10/5): Exceptional - Facilities were extremely clean with cleaner coming in everyday. Bathrooms, again, very clean and well equipped. Living room was extremely cozy however there was a room right next to it so once someone came and stayed in that room we couldnât really chill in living room anymore.
10 minutes walk from Arsenal station, which was very convenient.
The owners were so lovely when we got there and offered us coffee in their coffeehouse across the street+ youâll have a coffee machine in the kitchen as well
Overall amazing place to stay in Kitchen wasnât very equipped for cooking
- Anne (8/5): Very good -
- Jamie (3/5): Poor - Location Door was not easy to lock
Very basic
- Kathya (10/5): Nice place, nice reception, nice apartment - The place is quiet but you should mentioned that the nearest subway is Arsenal. I loved the way to go to the subway with his typical London charmed houses. Also i appreciated the warm welcoming staff. Everyone is at your service. The bakery was the nicest one in the city, love all the girl crew: Fantastic ! And i ÂŽd like to thank the receptionist that brung me immediately the 2 convertors as well a i needed. Many Thanks for our journey. They have to put an electrical outlet to avoid the smell of the restaurant downstairs .
- Shibu (7/5): Good -
- Ren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maxime (7/5): Good - well located, many food places. Buses and underground nearby. Very kind personel. Flat functional with everything you need. Smell of frying oil in the flat because of the shop below. Bed not very comfortable. A bit of background noise from busy street at night.
- Ellen (3/5): Paper thin walls, bathroom not appropriate for use, stairs and cabnits lopsidded - Very close to Emirates Stadium Very thin walls and doors, window did not shut fully, bathroom was tiny, not suitable for use, the shower door hits the toilet bowl and you have to try and squeeze into a tiny shower which is not comforting at all.
- Hakobyan (2/5): Very poor - Its says its an apartment but its a small room with shared facilities.
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional - Great location for going to watch Arsenal. 10 minute walk to the stadium and 5 minute walk to Arsenal tube station. Collected the keys at the cafe opposite and welcomed by very friendly staff and given a coffee on arrival. Bathroom is very small, but does the job. Only used the apartment as a base as was out all day.
- Matthew (7/5): Good - I arrived very late (after 11), but owner was prompt in letting me in. Very clean rooms. Very nice, hot shower. Plug sockets in room weren't connected. I was unsure which spaces were private and which shared.
- Vad (7/5): Good -
- Nuno (8/5): đđ - The host was great - very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was also great. The apartment is located at walking distance (~10 minutes) from the underground station. You can also catch the bus to the city centre in the bus stop just outside the apartment. The bathroom upstairs is quite small, but there is another bathroom in the apartment which is much more spacious.
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - The owner was a great person who knows a lot about the local area plus he does a brilliant breakfast with Turkish influences. Also a fantastic area, especially if you are a Gunners fan, which I have to say I'm not! Nothing.
- Liya (3/5): Would visit the cafe again but will never book this stay again! - The owner is pleasant and the food at the café is nice! The building, room, and bathroom are not upto expectations. The bathroom specially is terrible, Indian, accessible by a narrow set of stairs (such a safety hazard) and not practical + common to the other rooms on the floor.
- Marta (7/5): Good - Room is small and clean, it is a good and convenient place to stay for one or two nights. Soner, the owner is really kind person and the breakfast is excellent, the bestđđ» The shared shower room is too small, and the apartment is in a nice and very interesting area, but too noisy at night. I missed some useful details as mirrows at the bedroom and bathroom downstairs.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cherno (8/5): Very good -
- George (7/5): Good - Owner was always available and answered emails quickly. He was very helpful with anything we needed. The smell of fried chicken from the shops below the room.
- Andrea (8/5): Very good -
- Gary (8/5): Very good - Very nice continental breakfast served with lovely coffee Street noise during night, but I guess that comes with it being in such a central location
- David (10/5): Great base for a London adventure - Really comfortable, great location, very good value for money, friendly and helpful host - what's mot to like?
- Colin (7/5): Review - for the price good and thank you for the coffees first day for free,,very kind. the other person who ever was there, kept leaving the front door unlocked, had to lock when I went back not good security for us...otherwise good
- Graham (8/5): Soner was very helpful and efficient - we kindly recommend a topper on the matress because we could feel the spring underneath
- Chenda (9/5): Nice little appartment with great link to Islington Academy. - I only stayed for one night so didn't make full use of all facilities but it was clean, tidy and spacious.
Lots of storage.
Towels and toiletries provided (used my own by choice)
I used the fridge but there were other facilities in the kitchen.
Bed was clean and comfortable.
Staff were lovely as was the food in their cafe.
Staff were great - I accidentally broke something and they were so great about it.
The appartment was right next to a bus stop so was great for getting to and from O2 Islington Academy.
I would stay here again for sure đ The doors (and bedroom window) were hard to open and close due to the paintwork so was unable to lock the bathroom door, the bedroom door was a struggle to close and open but did lock so felt very safe.
Shower temperature was a bit hard to control but fine once sussed.
A bedside lamp would have been great and the plug socket next to the bed doesn't work.
- Haythem (10/5): Exceptional - Great host.. very accommodating.
- Valdemar (8/5): Very good -
- Naifan (10/5): Very comfortable room to stay - Had to change my other booked stay for 10 days last minute since they cancelled, ended up staying at Soner's place for the time instead. I was the first to stay at their new listing.
Islington Apartments is located at a very nice spot along Blackstock Rd, with many pubs and cafes in the vicinity. The rooms are run by Soner and his wife, who also have a cafe opposite. They are very friendly and respond quickly if you have any problems.
The room contained a comfortable double bed, a wardrobe and drawers, all seemed brand new. Two sets of towels were provided. The kitchen area is spacious; the other guests and I made good use of the large fridge/freezer and electric oven. There were plates and cutlery provided, but no microwave or pans, and I had to use a nightstand as a makeshift table. Nevertheless everything they had was working perfectly and in brand new condition.
All in all it was a great place to stay for the location and price. Would highly recommend as a place to temporarily stay in general, would 110% recommend if you're staying for an Arsenal game. For me, the bathroom area was cramped, but it is very clean and makes the most out of what space there is. Still entirely adequate for brushing up in the morning and at night, and the shower is good.
Also very noisy every night when Arsenal plays due to the location and pubs along the road.
- Laureano (7/5): Pleasant stay for 7 nights. Property clean and tidy - Location, the room was clean and tidy, comfortable bed and all the necessary to heat up some food. Not for cooking from scratch. The room face to the Main Street and sometime could be noise even with a great windows.
- Nichols (10/5): Lovely stay at Cinnamon House, will definitely recommend to friends and family. - Good Price. Very clean. Everything we needed in the apartment. Could not have asked for more!
