• Worthington (10/5): Amazing experience, would use this host again 😁 - Beautiful property and amazing host, who was very accommodating with us arriving early. The wine and penguins were a lovely touch upon arrival, all necessary information was easy to find, along with leaflets for activities around the city and board games for when you just want to stay inside and relax. Used water boost but couldn’t get the water in the shower to go above lukewarm/cold

• Alix (7/5): Charming apartment in York - Very nicely decorated, charming and spacious. You can smell the food from downstairs in the bedroom bathroom. And there was no shampoo or soap provided for the shower. Which is the shame when you only come for a few days.

• Michael (9/5): Had a very lovely stay - Super nice apartment, large kitchen with everything you need. There was even fresh milk in the fridge and chocolates and a bottle of wine on the kitchen table. Perfectly located between the train station and the city centre.

• Keri (7/5): Perfect for very short stays but not for 3 nights - The host, Florence, was very responsive and made sure we were welcomed. From stocking the fridge with milk for our first cup of Yorkshire tea to providing us with welcome wine and snacks (kit kat no less!), every little detail in the apartment was very well thought out. The location was perfect: short walk from the train station, we had a light carry on and suitcase, and in a quiet part of town away from the busy pubs. York itself is very walkable, and there are plenty of good cafes and restaurants nearby. The flat is stylish, calming, and clean. Everything that you needed for a short weekend stay they had. All check-in and check-out instructions were clear. There were two many issues that dampened our stay, although this was mentioned by other reviewers, in hindsight I may have paid a premium for another stay. Again, want to stress this is beyond the host's control. The ideal location of the apartment above a cafe/bakery meant you were woken up really early in the morning including music blasting from the shop below as workers got ready for their day or the staff were simply chatting with each other as they were setting up. This was not ideal particularly on the Saturday morning if you wanted a lie in after a night out for us (we stayed Friday to Monday). The loud music and noise was more bearable on a Monday morning than it was for the weekend - so perhaps we were just unlucky to stay on the weekend. Second, not a fault of the host at all, is the constant 'garlic smell' that would seep into the bedroom despite all of the windows being permanently shut. We eventually realised that the smell was coming through the bedroom bathroom ventilation and it was importantly to keep the fan running. The smells were constant even after the bakery had shut. I'm not sure how this could be managed better (maybe have incense in the apartment?) but these two factors made our stay rather stressful as we woke up to garlic smell in the middle of the night (i had nightmares thinking some kitchen had burnt down). But perhaps thoughtfully, the host did provide a big fan for the apartment to keep us cool for the hot weekend and to keep the air moving which helped since we couldn't open the windows - but again, the fan was noisy and it wasn't something we could keep on at night. So it was a fine balance of airing out the room as much as possible before we slept and hoping the garlic smell wouldn't fill up the bedroom before dawn broke!
• William (10/5): Fabulous break away at cosy apartment, highly recommended. - Very comfortable apartment with excellent facilities, we loved the little extras on arrival a lovely touch from Florence. There were plenty of nearby restaurants and close to the historic scenes of York.

• Ulrich (10/5): Great place to stay - One of the most pleasant flats we have stayed in on our travels. Very tasteful furnishings, quiet and bright, attentive welcome surprises in the kitchen. Finally, salt, pepper, oil and washing-up liquid in the cupboards, so you don't have to buy these basics every time. Very nice café on the ground floor. And perfect communication with the landlady Florence. In the morning, kitchen smells sometimes drift up from the restaurant on the ground floor.

• Mark (8/5): Lovely location and a very helpful host means we'd be happy to stay again. - The apartment was much more spacious than we expected and really nicely laid out. The little extra touches like leaving out drinks and snacks was very nice, and the location is superb. Florence was super helpful on the first night when we had trouble with the heating system and came over late to make sure we were warm. The cafe downstairs can make some noise in the morning but wasn't an issue for us because we're both used to sleeping with earplugs anyway. The bed was comfortable but quite bouncy so we did disturb each other a little. In the morning the bedroom was a little chillier than the rest of the flat.

• Emily (10/5): Beautiful apartment - Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 3 nights, the location is perfect, only a short walk into the centre. The apartment is beautiful, very spacious and the decor is lovely, also spotless! There was lots of Parking available while we was here, lots around the back of the apartment and also a multi storey a short walk away. The apartment was very easy to access and Florence is a fantastic host who is easy to contact if you need. Thank you for a lovely stay we hope to be back!
