The room was very quiet and comfortable with birdsong and rear view of garden and woods. Information about tea, coffee and sugar would have helped

• Julie (2/5): Wouldn't stay again - Location was convenient. I hesirated to put a bad review and tried to raise my concerns with the afebt and owner, but to no avail. The room, the bathroom and the windows hadn't been cleaned for months. The owner was 'a bit merry' when he showed us round. Washing up in sink all weekend. Heating only in for an hour in the morning on a very cold, wet, windy January weekend. We had to ask for it to be put on in the early evening.

• Giesegh (8/5): Sehr netter Aufenthalt, toller Gastgeber - Sehr freundlicher privater Gastgeber, der schon vor der Ankunft Kontakt aufgenommen und Tipps für die Anreise gegeben hat. Wir hatten das größere von den beiden Zimmern mit Gemeinschaftsbad. Es war freundlich und praktisch eingerichtet, sauber, mit Handtüchern, WLAN, Steckdosen am Bett und sogar einem Adapter. Die Gäste konnten Küche und Wohnzimmer mitbenutzen; es gab einen Kühlschrank extra für die zwei Zimmer. Bus und Bahn waren in der Nähe, ein Supermarkt etwas weiter weg, aber fußläufig erreichbar. Gareth hatte immer wieder mal Zeit für ein nettes Gespräch und Tipps für Unternehmungen. -

• Emily (1/5): WARNING - SHARED ACCOMMODATION - Nothing. The accommodation was not as advertised (we later found out this was a shared property), was unacceptably unclean, and presented a serious safety concern. Specifically, we found: - A half-drunk glass of squash left on the counter - Dirty cutlery in the sink - Four pairs of shoes in the walkway - Washing drying on an airer in the living room - Mouldy old food in the fridge Nowhere did the listing indicate that the host would be residing in the property. We were shocked to find a man asleep in bed - who we later discovered was the host of the property. This was an incredibly alarming and distressing situation. Had I been alone, as a 23-year-old woman, this would have been extremely frightening. Feeling unsafe and uncomfortable. We could not stay and the host has refused to refund any money for the accommodation we did not stay in.
• evans (10/5): Raining in Wales (again). - Thorough and friendly introduction by the owner onto his property, leaving me at ease and ready to enjoy my short stay. The bedroom was bright, clean and not overfilled with unneccesary decorative items. The other areas of the accommodation were clean, inviting and gave a homely welcome. The welcome given also left me at ease to use the facilities available. The location was ideal for this particular trip, with ease of access to the local train station, local buses and a local taxi available, again the owner helpful in providing details for this. The location was perfect—just a short walk from the train - The property was spotless, tidy, and comfortable, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. • Anthony Patrick (8/5): Great value for money. - Location- close to Cogan railway station for easy access to Cardiff city centre and with Penarth an easy and pleasant walk away. Although I didn't make use of the amenity, I liked the fact that there was access to the kitchen and its facilities.

• AL (6/5): Casa condivisa a Penarth - Abitazione situata in una zona piacevole, vicina a Cardiff (raggiungibile con 5 minuti di treno) con possibilità di parcheggiare gratuitamente lungo la strada antistante. Orari check-in flessibili grazie alla presenza di Masterlock. Gareth molto disponibile e gentile, valore aggiunto della struttura, che viceversa avrebbe un punteggio assolutamente negativo. Camera piccolissima all'interno dell'abitazione dell'host con il quale si condividono tutti gli spazi (es. cucina, salotto, etc.). Dall'annuncio su Booking ciò non è chiaramente comprensibile ed il bagno in comune è condiviso non solo con eventuali altri ospiti, ma anche con il proprietario di casa stesso. Il sifone della doccia non scarica adeguatamente l'acqua ed è pertanto fornita una ventosa per favorire il deflusso (?!?). La camera è è davvero molto piccola ed è impossibile aprire 2 trolley in contemporanea e/o poter muoversi attorno al letto. Pulizia di bagno e camera totalmente inadeguata ad ospitare persone esterne, il resto della casa è normalmente abitato. Qualità del materasso, insonorizzazione e schermatura dalla luce insufficienti, ma standard rispetto a quelle di altre strutture del Regno Unito. Da scegliere unicamente per il prezzo e per soggiorni non oltre 1 notte.
• Alagarsamy (10/5): Excellent and recommended - Stay was comfort and excellent. I would recommend for anyone who is vising cardiff. Especially Gerath was very friendly. He was so humble and provided so many information on our trips. There was only one toilet. But I don't see them as drawback because it was clean and tidy.

• Martina (10/5): - The host, Gareth, was most welcoming and full of good advice on things to do, places to eat and where to go, very much appreciated! The room is comfortable, but there's a slightly bigger one available. I quite like small rooms, so it was no bother for me, the other room was booked too. The shared bathroom is across a small landing and has superb water pressure and is modern and comfortable. When booking, at first I hadn't realised it's a shared bathroom, but it honestly isn't a problem. The kitchen is well equipped and Gareth invited me to use everything as I wished (this also hadn't been clear to me, but was very welcome!). I had a very pleasant stay and some good chats with Gareth and the other lady staying there at the same time. Very good to stay with somebody with "inside" local knowledge!

Gareth est un hôte très sympathique qui nous a aidé à résoudre un problème de voiture. Il donne aussi des renseignements utiles sur les endroits où se restaurer. Les équipements peuvent être améliorés.

Very quiet neighbourhood and the host was very helpful with suggestions for things to do in the area and beyond. Wasn’t totally aware that this was just a room in the host’s house, otherwise I might not have chosen this property for my sister and I. Moreover, the cleanliness might be passable as someone’s home, but is not up to standard for a rental property.

• Mia (10/5): Lovely stay and even better host 😃 - Everything! it's the perfect location close to the marina and perfect for concert going. Great value and Gareth is extremely welcoming and friendly. He really goes above and beyond to make your trip great! He sends you a text with all the things to do nearby which is really helpful and saved me some money by recommending the best way of travel around the area. He also recommended breakfast at a cafe around the marina which I would have never have found on my own. The breakfast at coffee co was brilliant but of course you can also use the facilities of the kitchen here he shows you where everything is if you wanted to make your own. Wet room bathroom was great a million times better than my own bathroom! Jealous much!

The day before Gareth called me and give me the run down on how to get in and also sent some recommendations as to where to go. Upon arriving, we met Gareth and what a lovely gentleman he is. He made us feel at ease. Everything was a short bus or train ride away and he gave us all the instructions we needed. Clean room, clean show, very very nice place. I have said if im ever to be in cardiff again, i will stay here as it was so easy. Thank you for making it more comfortable and enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Gareth was very friendly and helpful When we arrived the outside isn’t welcoming and needs some tlc and we are surprised to see the key boxes loose on the paving slabs. The shower room was left in a mess by other houses - it’s be good to put up a notice to remind houses to keep shower room clean as it’s shared
• Anthony (9/5): A great find! - Easily accessible- I needed somewhere near Penarth pier so that I could access the paddle steamer Waverley and this turned out to be ideal- just minutes walk from Cogan station meant Cardiff was within easy reach too. Gareth was a great host- welcoming and informative but giving me space, which being a rather private person I liked.

The property itself was clean, well-maintained, and offered a comfortable environment to relax after busy days. What made the stay even better was the hospitality of the owner, very polite, respectful, and genuinely interested in making sure I felt welcome and at ease. It’s always reassuring to be hosted by someone who cares about your comfort, and that was absolutely the case here. I appreciated the calm atmosphere, the attention to detail, and how easy everything felt from check-in to check-out. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting Cardiff, whether for business or leisure and, I’d happily return in the future.

The bedroom was cozy and very comfortable, making our experience delightful. The location is perfect, just a 5-minute walk from the main central station. Host Gareth was incredibly welcoming and an intellectual person. Since it was our first time visiting Cardiff, he took the time to explain all the key places to visit and the best routes to take. He was like a human Google Map for us! Thanks to his recommendations, we managed to explore almost everything – from trekking trails and castles to Cardiff Central and Cardiff Bay. We highly recommend this place to everyone and would definitely stay here again!
