Guest Reviews
- Alejandro (7/5): - La ubicación. El patio central ocupado objetos del restaurante.
- Annalisa (8/5): Consigliato!!
- Daniel (6/5): - Location and breakfast The place is not like in the photos, unclean, poor quality garden, things scattered all over the place, the sleeping mats are so uncomfortable.
- YOU LU (8/5): -
- Hannah (7/5): - The location was absolutely amazing and the breakfast was so delicious! It is a bit different from the photos.

- HIROMI (8/5): -
- Eric (8/5): - Good Breakfast.
- Lorna (9/5): - Perfect location, accessible to public transportation, restaurants, shops, and exciting places to visit.

- Jodie (5/5): Good location - Location was very convenient to the activities we were doing. In one of the rooms we thought we had booked a single bed. Unfortunately all rooms were beds on the floor. Would have been nice to have a bigger selection for breakfast.
- Anne Wlite (7/5): -

- Nhojin (2/5): Very poor - I was surprised at how different it looked from the photos. The condition and service were both disappointing.
- Anry (7/5): For the value and location and just one night, it’s fine. - Breakfast is delicious
Excellent location Room Floor is cement floor. Futon bedding is not thick enough. No sitting cushion for floor sitting.
- Evgenia (9/5): Superb -
- Ingyu (2/5): Very poor -
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Afnan (1/5): Experience will not be repatead - Only the location Not clean and stuff very angry and mean and asking for money not including in booking , the room very small and food not delicious.
- Lilian (9/5): Superb - It was nice to provide breakfast. Thank you. Sweet touch to provide the incense for mosquitos. The blankets and bedding were nice and comfortable. Thanks for having the AC! The shower/bathroom was smaller than anticipated but we had small group so it was fine.
- Natasha (6/5): Pleasant - Great location, really convenient and nice breakfast included. The bathroom door didn't close fully and there was a lot of clutter, which made it a squeeze for three adults.
- Kimberly (10/5): Loved my stay, the owners were so sweet and amazing - Traditional breakfast was delicious and hearty Room was smaller than expected but still cozy and clean
- Karin (3/5): Poor - Korean breakfast. Very good position in the city. Showers with warm water. The first room offered had no window and was very small so that we could not fit luggage and futons on the floor at the same time. We eventuallly got a slightly bigger room that was OK. The host was not really welcoming. The court yard was full of bags to go to the rubbish collection, plus various tables, buckets etc not included in the photographs on the web site. There was no outside space to sit as a result, and no sitting space apart from the futons in our room.
- Tran (1/5): Bad - We regret to inform you that we were quite dissatisfied with your attitude during our stay. On the first day, when we arrived at 3 PM, a cleaning lady was present and reminded us of the check-in time. However, she kindly allowed us to change our clothes. We asked her if we could rest in the room without using the air conditioning since it was already prepared, and she agreed, especially as it was a Sunday and we were the only guests. While we were resting, you abruptly knocked on the door with an unpleasant attitude, demanding to know why we had checked in early. After we explained the situation, and the cleaning lady confirmed what had happened, you reluctantly agreed but still appeared very upset.
The second issue we encountered was with the keys. As the door couldn’t be locked properly, we mistakenly left the keys inside the room. On our first night, we returned at around 9:20 PM, but no one answered the door after we rang the bell multiple times and waited for about 20 minutes. We eventually had to ask customers at the neighboring restaurant to call you. They said you answered the phone but did not respond to the request. After waiting another 20 minutes, we thought perhaps you were coming from somewhere else. Finally, we asked the kind staff of the nearby restaurant to call you again, and only after 20 more minutes did you come out of the house to open the door, muttering angrily in Korean. Despite this, we remained polite and apologized for the inconvenience.
Based on this experience, we believe that with such a negative attitude, it is inappropriate for you to be in the hospitality business. It made our stay very uncomfortable. Additionally, the room was extremely small, especially for three people, and the bathroom was only around 5m². There were also many mosquitoes, and on the first night, we were bitten all over because the air conditioning was too weak.
Due to these reasons, we will not be recommending your property to others, even though its location
- Reamur (7/5): This is a very unique experience, but not for everyone. Strongly recommended to try at least once. - I liked that it maintained the feel of a traditional home. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the internet access was superb. They also had breakfast for us!
In terms of location, there are a lot of things to explore within the area. We requested for an accommodation good for 3, but the room looked like it could only accommodate two comfortably. It would have been better if they kept the home chores somewhere hidden from the guests, so that the look of the place was still kept clean.
Also, the cab had difficulty finding the place.
Large luggages are not recommended.
- Julie (9/5): Superb - Amazing location and very friendly host!
- Wioletta (5/5): Passable - The location is very good, nice Korean breakfast, nice patio The owner wasn't very friendly, we had a reservation for 19 people but 1 room which was supposed to be for 4 people was so small that we decided to book a new room in a nearby hotel, 2x3m for 4 adults is a joke and the owner just didn't care, there was a problem with the English language and we were treated like intruders not guests
- Martina (6/5): Nice experience in a korean house! - A very nice experience living some days in a tradizional korean house. Appreciated the traditional breakfast! I think it should be cleaner and more orderly above all the hall!
- Kiran (10/5): Would stay again - Everything excellent. Eill stay there again. Korean rooms are small so we booked quad room or two people. Nothing
- Erika (5/5): The location was nice but the actual hostel was medium, for the reasons specified. - The house was a very classical traditional Korean house, which was nice to see. There was also Korean breakfast served, with rice, kimchi and meat soup. The location was very good near the big palace and in some interesting small streets. It was kleen, and the bathroom was modern and big, but the shower water had to travel across the whole bathroom before it reached the drain, so always wet floor. The manager was not so cooperative, all he could say in English was apparently "No". There were many things stacked everywhere in the yard, and very little place to be. I asked if I could remove some of the things stacked just in front of our entrance so that we could sit there. "No". I asked if we could have only two meatsoups (as two of us were veregatians) and instead some more vegetables. "No" When we had to leave early, I asked if we could have the breakfast earlier. "No".
- Kiran (10/5): The best ever experience. - Everything. We loved the place and the staff. Would stay there again! Nothing. I booked the bigger quad room for two people which was perfect for two people as Korean rooms are small in general. So book a bigger room if you need more space.
- Petr (6/5): Very simple traditional accommodation in the center of the old town - - Accommodation in a great location in the center of the old town
- Traditional accommodation (room, courtyard and breakfast) - The location is not listed correctly on bookig.com
- The rooms are much smaller than they look in the photos
- The mattresses on the floor are thin and very uncomfortable to sleep on
- Breakfast is only Korean (kimchi and fish soup with rice)
- Jakub (6/5): Pleasant - The location is excellent, just next to the main attractions,we walked to them.we were able to leave the luggage after checkout, thank you!
- Tammy, (9/5): Clean & confortable brief stay with some accessibility and location challenges - 1) Clean room
2) Free breakfast provided by the host
3) Floor with heater (useful during winter)
4) Proper bathroom (each room has a bathroom) 1) Not suitable for a long stay and not convenient for a big group
2) Steep steps to enter the room
3) Difficult to move the luggages around
4) Quite far from public transport
5) Uneven roads to get to the location
6) Not suitable for old ppl due to distant walking from the property to another location (e.g public transport, eateries)
7) Narrow common space
8) The host was very strict about certain things (e.g. we cannot stand or wear shoes in certain areas) but sometimes, we have no choice due to lack of space
- Jim (7/5): Good -
- Christina (3/5): The novelty of dtaying in a traditional korean home in a historic neighborhood was cool, but the accomodations were very - I loved experiencing traditional Korean living and the heated ondol floors. Unfortunately, we were unable to get help with our issues with our rooms. Some of our heating wasn’t working and they didn’t respond to our requests to fix it. They also do not clean the floor mattresses, which get dirty very easily. They also wake you up to tell you breakfast is ready, which was very irritating for thise who wish to sleep in. The owners were nice, but difficult to communicate with and were unable to help us with our issues. It was unfortunately a very uncomfortable stay for all of us.
- Cho (9/5): Superb -
- Lee (6/5): Pleasant - Close to the old town area, galleries (which is why I was there) and palace. Right next to the art museum. Check in was difficult as I landed late and they weren't terribly communicative about how to get in. Got woken up at 6:45am by someone knocking at my door telling me breakfast was ready - twice - they knew I was coming in at 1am...be specific about this, I'm sure they were trying to be nice, but it would have been good to sleep.
Not sure exactly why it was so expensive for super basic accom, but the location was great so. The simple life suited me well and it was a nice, basic, no-nonsense stay.
- Gina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thorsten (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jessica (6/5): Pleasant -
- Denise (7/5): Convenient location, good traditional experience. - Fabulous location, excellent for restaurants and the palaces. A nice traditional experience. Excellent traditional breakfast. The check-in was not smooth. I would suggest messaging the guest house when you're on your way to let them know your eta. I had wait about 20mins for someone to arrive to let us in. Be prepared for sleeping on a traditional floor (as advertised)
- Gina (9/5): Nice experience - The owners are friendly. They served heavy Korean breakfast with lots of side dishes. The room is clean. Taxi from Myeongdong to the property only cost 6300KRW. It is 8 mins walk to Bukchon Village and a good 15-20 mins walk to Gyeongbokdong Palace. Lots of cafe nearby. The nearest subway station is Anguk Station. Nothing
- Myungsoo (3/5): Poor -
- Golda (7/5): Good - This is Hanok style, so if you don't want to sleep on the floor, this is not for you. Breakfast was nice, it was served in the room. You can walk to this place fro Gongbokgeung Palace maybe 15 to 20mins. Lots of restos and cafes around the Hanok! The lady housekeeper, was friendly, although did not speak any English at all. She was nice. Very quick email responses from the hotel. Toilet and shower together without separatiion/curtain so when you shower the toilet bowl and floor messy wet. The outside yard and garden could be made more presentable and decluttered. I wish there was a kettle and tea in the room, none. The other guy could be more friendlier in person, but I think he is the boss.
- Dario (8/5): Very good -
- Taner (6/5): Pleasant -
- Taner (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mariko (4/5): perfect location, great breakfast but… needs some space improvement - Korean style breakfast was really nice the room was extremely small for a family and we were bitten by ticks…
- Angela (8/5): Host did not provide wifi, bottled water and kettle. Host did not reply on booking.com after I checked in. Host woke me - Property is near Seoul train station. Host did not provide wifi, bottled water and kettle. Host did not reply on booking.com after I checked in. Host woke me up everyday at 5.30am as the walls are very thin.
- Keith (7/5): Good -
- Katherine (10/5): Perfect location great experience - It was charming a totally authentic local experience and toasty warm. The kids loved the experience of sleeping in futons and rolling them out in the evening. The futons were a little hard and you might want to bring a softer pillow but it was really very special.
- Katherine (10/5): We loved it and would stay again. - The property was charming and in an amazing location in the centre of the cultural district with plenty of restaurants, shopping and street food.
The beds are traditional style mats which are not for everyone but we loved it and in winter the floor is heated so it’s very cosy. The owner was charming and helped us book onward taxis to our ski resort and served an excellent breakfast. The roll out floor beds are a bit hard but the experience, location and hospitality more than made up for that.
- Kathleen (6/5): Pleasant -
- Foong (6/5): Probably won’t stay again - the owners are pleasant and breakfast was served in the room The family room for 5 is too small. Owner of the property has his personal fridge in the room which takes up almost 1/5 of the room, not to mention the smell of food items in the fridge.
- Karen (8/5): Traditional tiny guesthouse, warm and cozy, perfect location for royal palace and gardens - Staying in a traditional tiny guesthouse with all my family, was really wonderful. The heated flooring was perfectly warm. And the breakfast was amazing. Nothing really
- Seoyeon (6/5): Pleasant -
- Clare (4/5): Disappointing - The location was very good, central for many places of interest . Craft beer place next door
Very good Korean breakfast provided The host did not appear very friendly. This may have been a language barrier but hard to tell.
The property was not as attractive as the photos on the site.
We expected basic but this was extremely so.
Our room was tiny with no window.
It was not a place we would have wanted to spend any time other than to sleep.
There was no flexibility for time of breakfast so most days we declined as 8am was early for us.
- Eilenia (7/5): Recommended if you’re looking to stay in a simple hanuk. - The location was great & surrounded by several food options. It’s walking distance, near the Anguk train station. Traditional Korean breakfast is served. There were a few mosquitos & a spider in the top corner of the room.
- Bethlehem (10/5): MAGICAL - it’s a typical traditional Korean house and that’s why I loved it ! if you want to fully experience the Korean culture you need to come here ! it was amazing and the host was so cute nothing. everything was perfect !
- Benjamin (9/5): Nice Hanok stay near Gyeongbokgung palace - Nice Korean breakfast,
Very friendly staff
Nice atmosphere and great place to stay when you want to check out the buckhon hanok village and the Gyeongbokgung
palace. Few museums and lots of small cafes and little shops nearby. Walkable distance to anguk metro station. Pictures here are a bit older than the current state of the house.
- Almudena (4/5): Disappointing - Great location, good Korean breakfast Small room. A lot of mosquitos inside the room, the patio was disorganized and dirty. There were cobwebs around the room.
Old lock door system that makes it complicated open and close the door every time
Quite expensive for what it offers.
- Khloe (10/5): Great to experience a stay in a hanok - The place was great! Sleeping in a traditional house on the floor was a really great experience and the breakfast in the morning was amazing! The location is great as well, walking distance from the palaces and in the heart of the hanok village.
