• Christine (10/5): Excellent stay in Heartbeat country. - Absolutely wonderful house with lots of memorabilia, took me back to my youth. You could spend hours chatting about the memories the items evoked. Very tastefully decorated and comfortable bedroom with large tv and comfy bed. Breakfast was made to order and the hosts Liz and Steve were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We definitely found a gem in booking here. Would recommend 100% Nothing to dislike

• Baker (9/5): A great find in the area. - Location. Having a ground floor room was great even though the bathroom wasn't ensuite.The breakfast was very good. Room very cluttered with various unnecessary items making it feel smaller (hubby was an avid collector of various stuff!!) It was very cold even after the heating was turned on.

Room was lovely, especially the piping hot shower after my four hours on the motorbike. Off road parking is always good for bikers and very much appreciated. Breakfast was delicious and set me up for the day. Finally, I absolute loved Steve's massive collection of signs and equipment from days gone by. Highly recommend this lovely home from home. • Bigmangav (10/5): - Our stay at Englefield was nothing short of perfect. We honestly cannot fault it. Steve and Liz were excellent hosts and I almost feel as though we left as friends. Engelfield is a stunning property, made unique with Steve's priceless collection of original enamel signs and vintage memorabilia. Everywhere you look you'll see cigarette vending machines, ride on horses, tin signs, and antique toys. It's like staying in your own private museum! We stayed in the 'Heartbeat suite' which was immaculate and very comfortable. We had our own bathroom, which was across the hallway, on the ground floor of the accommodation. Breakfast was served in a communal dining room which looked out over fields, with horses and deer running free. We had a good selection of cereals, toast, and a delicious full cooked breakfast every morning. Englefield is well situated in the small village of Goathland. The shops are a short walk up the road, as are the iconic locations from the popular television series 'Heartbeat'. A little further down the hill is the heritage railway station, famous for doubling as 'Hogsmeade' in the Harry Potters films. Evening meals are best served at the 'Inn on the Moor' hotel, behind Scripps Garage. Even if you are a fan of the Heartbeat series, the Goathland Hotel is best avoided. If you are looking for something a little different, the Birch Hall Inn over in nearby Beck Hole is like stepping back in time. Check the opening times before attempting the walk. The beer is strong, so leave the car back at Englefield! Absolutely nothing. We can't wait to stay there again...

All the 'Heartbeat' memorabilia is beautifully displayed and adds a fascinating dimension to the stay! I will return. The Esk valley is the place of my birth and I never like leaving!

Liz and Steve were the perfect hosts, being friendly, helpful, and courteous. The breakfast service was first class: delicious food, plenty of choice and nothing too much trouble. We will definitely visit Goathland again, and even though there are plenty of places to stay here, the Englefield Guesthouse will be our first choice!

So thanks Liz & Steve for a superbly comforting, relaxing, and recovering experience. It was late when I arrived but I received the best possible Yorkshire welcome I could wish for ! I loved the decor and the bedroom. Thanks also for the great breakfast before I set off on my final day's walking. Englefield richly deserves a 10 out of 10 - for the standard of accommodation is exceptional. I will be returning next year to enjoy more of the Goathland & Englefield magic ! Thanks again. The only problem was that I should have had two nights at Englefield.
