Guest Reviews
- Cliff (3/5): Adequate but I will not be staying there again nor would I recommend this accomodation to others. - Room was clean & warm. Owner was not particularly welcoming. When I introduced myself and and stated I had a reservation he responded with a curt reply of that "depends on who you are?" I did not feel to be made welcome.
The 'paperwork' I was asked to complete felt intrusive - I was instructed to fill out a form with all my credit card details and leave this on a table in a public space. I did not feel comfortable doing this.
- Yasmine (8/5): - The view is amazing, very quiet surroundings. The host is lovely and he makes an excellent breakfast. The room and facilities were good but a bit old. Toilets and bathroom is to be shared with two other rooms.
- Fraser (3/5): Memorable host, unfortunately not for the right reasons - The room itself was nice. Complimentary tea, coffee, kettle & biscuits. Quite confined, though OK for one evening. Tiny TV included, though located ontop of the wardrobe? Comfy enough mattress, pillows and bedding. TLDR: It's not "Pet Friendly", it's "Pet Tolerant" (Their words, not mine). Overbearing host who comes across as quite rude. Good value for money if you don't mind a scroll of house-rules and unwelcoming company. A reasonably priced bed for the night, if you're happy spend the entire time in your room.
Upon inital arrival, after ringing the bell and waiting a short while; the host appeared. I began the conversation woth "Hello, we're here to check-in 🙂", though I was quickly met with a sharp response of "Well that depends on who you are?!". No "Hello", "Welcome"... or any warm greeting. Oh boy, what was I in for?
Once Neil (the host) had established we were infact, of course, legitimate booked guests - we were met with a scroll of house rules... Pet owners, beware. It becomes clear, quite quick, this is not a "Pet Friendly" establishment as it may be advertised. Rather, this is a "Pet Tolerant" establishment - with pets on the lead at all times when at the property (Including the garden!) and must be left in your vehicle during mealtimes.
Other rules included shoes being left when entering and your room key being left when leaving (even if you are returning e.g. going for a walk) in reception, breakfast only between 8am & 8.15am and parking between the lines... un the unmarked bays.
I've never stayed at a Hotel, B&B, Hostel, AirB&B/property with a list of demands at such magnitude before. Hense the call-out.
Shared toilet and bathroom, presumably by all guests in the house - certinally upstairs anyway. Odd feature regarding the toilet was the extractor fan would operate when the toilet light was switched on, despite being a seperate room and switch for the bathroom. Calling this out simply due to the very loud and awakening sound the fan causes - especially when used by guests in the night.
- pascaline (9/5): - Au calme, vu magnifique
- Victoria (7/5): - Breakfast was good! Shower was difficult to use and water temperature was difficult to control.
- Holbert (4/5): Rudest host I've met - Bed was clean, towels were clean. The host was incredibly rude, condescending and unwelcoming. I felt discriminated against for being foreign. Made me incredibly uncomfortable. Unpleasant man.
- Pageot (1/5): HORRIBLE - RIEN HORRIBLE !!!
accueil glacial
FUYEZ !!!
- Guest (10/5): Perfect base for the night before climbing Ben Nevis - Great communication, easy to find. Owner more than happy to help with special requests. Everything was excellent.
- mordecai (8/5): A very nice experience - The owner was helpful ,in helping me contact the next Stay location. Lovely Grounds. Good Breakfast , interesting Clientele The Room needed a chair and desk , and was a touch cramped. The large Standing closet should be removed to make space ,and some hooks added for hanging items
- Luke Anthony (3/5): Disgraceful - Bed was comfortable The host of the property very kindly offered us a lift to the property upon us asking, however that is where we discovered him to be of a racist and sectarian character. He described 'shooting all the muslims' and not being able to raise his own flag due to the muslims becoming offended. He also stated that he was involved in the troubles working in the army, attempting to correct me on the name of the city I am from.
My partner and I felt unsafe/uncomfortable to leave our room as a result of his comments.
He also implied some guests at the property as overweight and 'that the beds would suffer'
Overall I would avoid, my first negative review of a property and my worst experience of a holiday home

Great place for hiking in the wonderful mountains all around Fort William. Shared toilets and bathroom, but the point was clearly pre announced.
- Carmen (9/5): - Desayuno excelente.

- Carolyn (8/5): - A lovely farmhouse. Very nice sized family room with very comfortable beds. Great hospitality from Neil and cooked us a fabulous breakfast. Nothing

- gazham (5/5): - Location , ok breakfast in a 15 min window. Lots of rules , shared toilet , 1 towel each , powdered milk.
Bit like a hostel.
- douglas (4/5): - breakfast one shared bathroom between 3 rooms
- Chris Tallent (6/5): -
- Laetitia (9/5): Amazing breakfast -
- Davidson (9/5): -

- Robert (9/5): - Stayed before will be back
- Bryan (10/5): -
- Martin (9/5): - Very pleasant hosts, the room was cosy, and the views are incredible!
Definitely stay again A++
- Catriona (8/5): Wonderful stay with a friendly owner - Friendly owner, clean and comfortable rooms, wonderful breakfast with amazing views towards the mountains.
- Andy (8/5): -
- Cath Wright (2/5): - I cannot write a full review as I left within a few minutes to find an alternative. I left within in a few minutes after a very unfriendly welcome and as a single female I was not happy with the security arrangements of all keys being accessible to all the guests and the security code to anyone coming in. Nor the shared bathroom with (I think) all of the other bedrooms. There was the offer of another toilet downstairs but by that point I already felt uncomfortable staying and was planning to leave asap. Breakfast was to be served 08:00-08:15 and with only one bathroom I felt it was not going to be the relaxing treat away I had booked for myself. There were numerous reasons why I decided to leave but the above would be the most important. I cannot review the B&B as a whole as I did not stay but still paid for the room obviously.
- Christos (6/5): A decent room to sleep before continue your trip - It is a small room in a house, with shared bathroom. Comfortable and clean enough, it will meet your expectations to sleep for a night before continuing your trip. The breakfast was really good , much better than the breakfasts they serve in hotels. I liked the marmalade very much, I think it was local. The description farm house is a euphemism. The building is just an old house, some kilometers before Fort William. I think it has potential for something much better if the owners exploit the surrounding area
- silvia (9/5): -
- Arulkumar (9/5): Good value - Excellent location, clean and comfy, nice breakfast, great host.
- Paul (6/5): -
- Yang (9/5): -
- Laura (10/5): We loved it !! - Great location … cute house with lots of history Only one bathroom for three rooms upstairs
- Cristian (5/5): An unfair QUALITY / price ratio ! - Tasty breakfast! Services (old sheets, unpleasant smell, extremely poorly equipped bathroom, etc...) far below expectations!
Bref, on s'arrête là.
- Sim (8/5): - Room was clean, well appointed, basin in room was great as there is a shared bathroom. Host was great.
- Anna (10/5): Awesome! - Amazing place and really friendly hosts. We met Neil and he was funny and gave us good recommendations. Awesome breakfast aswell! Would defintely come back if I visit thea area again!
- Jasper (10/5): -
- Niels Bagge (8/5): Achnabobane is situated in a quiet area but still close to reach i.e. Fort William, Spean Bridge -
- Sarah (5/5): Stay somewhere else. - The views were lovely. The host was patronising and insulted my country upon arrival. The shared toilet was tiny and cramped. The bed was small, the pillows lumpy and need replacing, as does the mattress.
The overuse of fabric softener was an overpowering smell and gave me a rash. The house was messy, with towels and linens covering the stairs. The keys had to be left in a public place when you left the building, and as a solo female traveller, this left me feeling unsafe- as did the inability to deadbolt the bedroom door from the inside. Credit card details were requested in red writing, giving no indication that it was optional, and then had to be left in a public place for anyone to come by a steal. This is poor practice and should be stopped. The breakfast was mediocre and a very narrow timeframe of 8:00-8:15 which has not client centred. The other reviews are similar to this, and I expect an arrogant reply to this feedback too. My advice? Stay somewhere else. This B&B has seen better days.

- Manuela (10/5): I felt very comfortable in the guest house. - The host and owner Neil was very friendly and accommodating. I had a very, very nice stay of unfortunately only 2 nights and everything was nice and cozy. There was a full breakfast buffet with everything you could want. There are many beautiful sights in the area. Many thanks to Neil. With best regards, Manuela There was nothing I didn't like.
- Gutterud (8/5): - The location was really good and the farmhouse was cozy. Neil is quite an amazing historian and also a great cook...our breakfast was very delicious and plentiful.
- Thorsten (7/5): - Ruhig gelegen, netter Besitzer Schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen.
- Paul (10/5): - Clean, comfortable beds, good breakfast. Small shared toilet
- Victoria (10/5): -
- mel (8/5): host nice gave me a lift to bus station - breakfast was 8 to 815 could have been a bit more flexible
- Valdas (8/5): -
- Graham (7/5): -
- Janet (10/5): Perfect location - The B&B is in a quiet setting with an exceptional view of Ben Nevis from the garden (and your room window). It is very peaceful. I stayed on night with my dog (a stop over to break up a longer journey North) and was delighted to see a herd of red deer and a wild peacock (and one of three pea hens). The host has bird feeders in the garden so there are smaller birds everywhere. The B&B is very easy to find. It is sign-posted from the main road. Spean Bridge is only a few miles further along the road - well worth visiting for food, shops, and the Commando monument.
- Song Gia Bao (9/5): -
- Liying Chang (7/5): A place in beautiful and peaceful surroundings - 1. Free breakfast, and the meal came with several choices.
2. The surroundings was very quiet and beautiful. I enjoyed walk nearby and sitting in the balcony.
3. Although I needed to share bathroom with others, but there was a washing basin in the room. 1. Although there was free breakfast, but customers sometimes needed to wait for the food preparation, and the toaster was very old: it took at least 7 minutes to get a toast done. And it was only served between 8:05~8:20, which was not flexible for customers who might start their day earlier or later.
2. The shower device didn't work well: sometimes the water was too weak, and the temperature wasn't stable.
- David (10/5): Perfect port in a storm or any other time. - Mine host welcomed me in from snow like a long lost friend. Nothing was too much trouble and the room was lovely and comfortable and warm. Breakfast was good and filling so I was ready to face the challenges of a snowy drive home to Skye. Lovely chats were had and we found we had a school in common. Very highly recommended and would like a return visit sometime. …. And yes. I made it home safely. Thank you Nothing, everything was great
- CatWeazle (7/5): -
- Suresh (7/5): Went there for climbing the Ben Nevis. Had a lots of walk around specially a small village Spean. - Great Location with wonderful view, Breakfast and Excellent customer service, Wonderful and very friendly staff Be honest, I struggle to sleep and was worried to be fallen of the bed at night due to the bed being too narrow and small.
- Romana (9/5): -
- Kachen (10/5): - Very gentle and kindly host, cosy and clean room. Nope! Nothing.
