Guest Reviews

- Sara (9/5): - Booked a family room although travelling alone as I wanted a private bathroom. The room was really big with a large comfortable double bed and bunk beds. The bathroom with a walk-in shower was huge and suitable for wheelchair access. The location was lovely and quiet and I had a great nights sleep. There is a large guest tv room and a big well equipped kitchen, the bonus being able to fill little containers with fresh milk for the bedside tea and coffee making facilities (no nasty long life milk cartons). A help yourself breakfast is available in the dining room and set out the night before, so no set times and good if you have an early departure. A choice of various cereals and toast, and from the fridge, yoghurt, fruit and fruit juices, with tea and ground coffee. A great place to stay and good value for money.
- Jones (10/5): Great value and a warm welcome for weary walkers - Superb value for money, welcoming and well-equipped. The bed was really comfortable and great to have newspaper to stuff soggy boots! Not many frills but all you need, perfect for wet weary walkers.
- John (10/5): I drove 4 hours to visit family and it was double the price anywhere else and it was like home - Everything was peefect for the money, only priveledged people looking for faults woyld dare to pick fault!

- steve (8/5): Excellent value and very comfortable - It was a very comfortable hostel at an excellent price. The hosts were excellent and the facilities offered were very welcome. It was perfect for the offas dyke walk and a pub very close did some excellent food
- Elaine (10/5): Highly recommended place to stay. Felt very welcomed n safe as a solo traveller. Clean. Great shower n good adequate bre - Everything. From the welcome, the location, parking on site, facilities n general communal spaces, cleanliness. Couldn’t fault a thing. Can’t complete this question as there’s nothing I’d change about the host or stay.
- Jeremy (8/5): Good choice budget accommodation - Repeat visit. Excellent value accommodation in a decent location. Simple rooms supplied with adequate facilities for a short stay. Basic help-yourself breakfast (cereals and toast, fruit etc.) enables an early start. Adequate facilities in the town. Highly recommended as a low-budget choice. I expect to be back before long. Wi-fi connection can be slow.
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Gill (9/5): - Excellent welcome and facilities were perfect for a couple of tired hikers
- Peter (10/5): - Everything. Very welcoming and friendly hosts and great location. Nothing
- Emma (9/5): Excellent value for money - Excellent value for money, especially for a lone traveller. Spotlessly clean. Great to have breakfast ready at 5.30am. Very friendly hosts, who went out of their way to help me out when I had a problem with public transport.

- Jemma (10/5): - Stayed here as part of a very big cycle ride, stayed in the single room which was very clean, warm and comfy. The staff were amazing and helpful. The kitchen is huge and very well equipped to make food when you are there. There was also a safe space to lock bikes away which I didn't expect. Location is great as it's close to the main streets but it's also very quiet for a good nights sleep Nothing
- Corey (9/5): -

- Philip Nyamwaya (9/5): - The location: it was quiet.
The rooms were large and very clean.
The breakfast was sufficient and always ready on time.
The staff team was helpful and pleasant. The WIFI, though fast in the common and dining rooms didn't quite reach my room. They may need a repeater router to the rooms are served well.
I guess it's because the house is built of solid stone. It's got a lot of history and character.
- Alan (8/5): Great hostel, but mattresses need reviewing. - Very pleased that the new owners took on the Kington hostel after the YHA pulled out. It still has the feel of a YHA hostel but with nice touches such as towels and toiletries, very helpful to not have to carry them on a hike. The basic complimentary breakfast was also appreciated, as was provision of peppermint and camomile tea in addition to the usual. Excellent cooking facilities. I was with my wife and adult son so we booked the ensuite family room. The double bed mattress sagged in the middle so it was clear we wouldn't both get a good night's sleep. I took one of the bunks and she slept well. Our son and I didn't fare as well, we're both tall and found the bunks too short, they were also rather narrow. Fine for younger children but not adults. It's a pity as everything else was perfect, we'd stay here again but not in the family room.

Affordable, comfortable, clean and very welcoming. And located in a lovely little market town on the doorstep of superb walking country and miles of quiet cycling lanes.

- Jonathan (10/5): Charming building, lovely hosts, super location and excellent value. - Nicely converted old style youth hostel to a more modern updated version. Still retains the shared lounges with lots of space and plenty of games , especially if you want to get a break the phones. Great kitchen to cook your own meals with a light breakfast provided. Kington is a very unique interesting town and certainly worth a visit. I particularly liked the art scene with some great galleries showing local artists work.

- David Jones (10/5): - An excellent facility for walkers who are passing through Kington on the Offa's Dyke Path
- Angela (10/5): - Lovely big room. Great shared facilities - kitchen, lounge, dining areas. Powerful shower. Nothing
- Paul (8/5): Great place to stay - Ive stayed here a few times now , very comfortable bed room nice and spacious . I like the fact there is a kitchen so at least you can do a microwave meal instead of finding a local pub . Plenty of Tea, Coffee milk etc is supplied for use .
- Robert (8/5): Good experience. - A very spacious Edwardian style property. Large lounge, very large well equipped kitchen, large dining room well furnished. Good vlaue.
- Martin (6/5): Adequate and reasonable value for money - Adequate breakfast. Help yourself so easy all round
Quiet
Clean
Good shower
Friendly Unfortunately left the key at where I was attending a course and was forced to return as unable to reach anyone to let me into my room around 10pm which was inconvenient as could otherwise have dropped the key off the next day.
Bed sagged badly. Fortunately I can sleep anywhere
- John (9/5): Splendid place, would stay again without hesitation. - Excellent facilities, nice welcome, very good value.
- Graeme (10/5): Last minute booking. Rachael friendly & instructive. - Not a travelodge.
- Joerg (9/5): -
- Carol (9/5): Great place to stay when doing Offa's Dyke path. - Breakfast is available as early as you need it. It's a basic, cold breakfast but plenty available.
Tea, coffee and milk always available.
- Robert (10/5): - Wszystko czego potrzeba. Simply the Best jak śpiewała Tina Turner. Nie znalazłem słabych punktów.
- Miriam (9/5): -
- Iwan (10/5): -
- Vicary (10/5): Perfect place to stay for walking in the area - Clean and comfortable Nothing
- nicoletta (6/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Lovely place - This is a lovely cross between a B&B and a youth hostel. They provide a continental breakfast but there is also a well equipped kitchen for guests to make an evening meal or, I guess, a cooked breakfast. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had an ensuite bathroom with a good powerful shower. The accommodation is well located just outside the centre of the village, with its own car park, within easy walking/cycling distance of the nearby hills, the Offa's Dyke Path, and Wales. There was nothing not to like.
- john (8/5): loved it - shared toilet
- Ann (10/5): - Lovely people and very clean. Nothing it was all great.
- Hatimhosny (8/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): It was spotlessly clean and great value - The breakfast was perfectly acceptable considering the good value of the rooms.
- David (7/5): -
- Peter (10/5): -
- Yaroslava (9/5): Good value for money - This is a large historic building with spacious rooms. The host was very kind and patiently waited for us at night, even though we arrived late for check-in. The breakfast is simple but it is a great bonus to our stay. It is served at night and is left for you, so you don’t have to worry about missing it if you oversleep or feel rushed in the morning.
- Duncan (8/5): - Everything was great, breakfast was a nice bonus, lovely people, all round just amazing. The only thing I struggled with was the bed. I'm 6 foot, and the wood at the bottom forced my legs to be bent/uncomfortable the whole night. I think the bed should have either been longer, or to just get rid of the wooden bit at the bottom. Other than that great place and even nicer people.
- Aaron (9/5): - Basic youth hostel feel, but comfy, clean and great price. The shower is superb! Perfect for walkers.
- Neil (8/5): Great Value, Clean & Comfortable - Very good value and clean and comfortable
- Steve (10/5): - Good value accommodation close to the centre of Kington. Would definitely stay again. Nice breakfast also. Nothing
- WILLIAM (7/5): met our expectations - value for money no tv in room
- Véronique (4/5): - Emplacement bien. Petit déjeuner à faire soi-même et très succinct. Le minimum.
- Gwen (10/5): -
- Ltatford (10/5): - Top of the world... I wish all accommodations would be as nice as this one on the Offa's Dyke Path.
Thank you ever so much.

- Jeremy (8/5): Return visit - very happy - Another return visit for me. I'm very happy with the facilities for this budget-option choice in Kington. Some of the other reviews here are very unfair about the breakfast. It's a simple, self-service breakfast - like it says on the website! You're not going to get a full English with waitress service for £50 a night, folks.
- michael (10/5): - Great place to stay
