• ANDRES (10/5): Auténtica casa japonesa - El alojamiento es una verdadera casa japonesa, con camas occidentales y otras tradicionales, lo que nos permitió distribuirmos a nuestro gusto. Está muy bien situada. Para un occdental, no tener al menos un sofá y sillas es algo incómodo, pero eso ya lo sabiamos.

Our vacation turned out to be a freezing nightmare. - It is an old, cold, dusty, dilapidated and very uncomfortable house, the stairs are very steep more like a ladder, the washrooms are on the ground floor with no hot water, and the sleeping area is on second floor, so each time you need to use the washroom you have to descend and then climb back up this extremely steep ladder, very dangerous! The photos in booking.com are not accurate at all! The Bathroom is full of mould, broken glass has been replaced with a tape! Dust everywhere! Walls full of holes and scratches! All the closets are locked so nowhere to hang any clothes! Futons too thin and pillows uncomfortable, only one pillow and one blanket for each person is provided and any extra is at extra cost!! Very, very disappointing, we rented this place for 8 days from Dec 30 to Jan 7th 2026, for our family of 5 adults, when we arrived the house was freezing cold, all heaters were off and the host did not even bother to turn them on prior to our arrival! Floors were freazing cold and futons too thin! When I asked for more futons, blankets and area heaters the host only provided one extra blanket and one single futon at extra cost! Which we give to our pregnant daughter! None of us slept that night! It was brutally cold and the heaters were not working properly, it was a nightmare! The host did not accommodate any of our requests, we asked for refund to move to a hotel, but no answer, we tried to book hotels, but they were mostly fully booked, some had only one room but we wanted to stay together, we tried to make the place warm , bought heating packs, Heat-Tec clothing and layered up! And by using, we learned that the heaters in the house were programmed to turn off after couple of hours and after resting the heater we finally got some heat, but the host did not help us with any of it. It was not a vacation it was Torture! I have waited for a few days after leaving that awful place to be able to write without emotion. Nothing! I am appalled that booking.com allows such properties to be listed on their site!

• Florent (10/5): A traditional-type location well located in Kyoto - We wanted a house with a traditional feel and were not disappointed. Nishinjinya is a great mix of traditional with modern features. Location is great - very close to Teramachi and with good proximity to public transport. Just beware that the staircases are steep (with bathroom only on ground floor) and if you are tall be careful with some of the door frames to not hit your head.
