Guest Reviews
- Megan (5/5): - The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Check in and check out was very easy. The room had been nicely designed and was very clean. Tea and coffee facilities were nice. The blinds didn't keep much light out, the mini fridge was quite noisy, the shower was really hot and we couldn't turn the temp down, the bath hot tap was very slow so it took a long time to run a hot bath.

- Adrian (8/5): We had a lovely time in Cardiff and found the room comfy and relaxing to stay in. - The property was an easy walk from the train station and the venue we had travelled to Cardiff for. The hosts communicated well when arranging key pick up and we were shown in to ensure we knew where to go. The hosts were careful to warn about the self locking doors so we didn't lock ourselves out. They also provided useful suggestions for food due to our gig ending after they had finished serving. The room was clean and airy, my daughter loved the comfy bed and the decor was stylish and light. We were also spoilt with a fridge, Nespresso pods and some lovely vegan bathroom products! The info pack did advise how to use the hot water, but we found the shower too hot to use and the pressure was low. Thankfully, there was a bath but again low pressure made filling it a long process.
- Angharad (10/5): -
- Lucy (10/5): cute night away - so pretty nothing was all perfect
- Aaron (7/5): -
- GEORGIOS (10/5): - very clean, large and comfortable room it has a espresso machine and hair dryer perfect location and staff good job !!!
- Colette (4/5): Disappointing and expensive. - Location was good and it was clean. Was able to check out late at a cost. No parking although the description said there was. Was told by staff to drive the local streets until I found a space with no markers that I could park in for free, no local advice about car parks given. I also would not say it has a kitchenette, it has a sink/tap, kettle, coffee machine, fridge, microwave and mini dishwasher - no cooking appliances as such. Expensive for what it is
- William (10/5): - Neighbourhood Bedrooms provided a really spacious, clean and comfortable base for our visit to Cardiff. Seren, who hosted us, was a great communicator and very friendly. Additional linen was provided for the sofa bed, and the bathroom was large and well-appointed. In summary, it offers great value close to the city centre. The street outside wasn't very welcoming. I could imagine it being off-putting for some guests, especially after nightfall.
- Neil (5/5): Pleasant. - Warm welcome. Spotlessly clean, tasteful decor, comfy.
Location was in walking distance to city centre. Cold bathroom with Luke warm water in bath & shower. Rumbling boiler in the room.
Difficult to find parking.
- Jo (10/5): Excellent - Amazing location, easy to find and met on arrival to receive the keys and be shown around. Apartment was beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed! Staff were very helpful and friendly :) would highly recommend! Nothing
- Sarah (9/5): - Location was great for the city centre, the apartment itself was super cute and had everything we needed I would definitely stay again. The parking caused us a bit of an issue. We were up against it time wise with traffic as we had a gig to go to. We tried to use the train station and it was closed so had to go further afield. This wouldn’t have been a huge problem if we weren’t rushing but would be good to have some parking closer
- Audrey (8/5): Great stay for gig at Tramshed. Super friendly hosts - Great flat for a short stay. Really close to the Tramshed for gigs. Short walk to town. Parking was a little tricky to find (on street only). The flat doesn't have great sound insulation so a little road noise and noise from other residents
- Linda (3/5): Dissapointing - Property was clean and we did sleep well. We were in apartment number 1 for the Cardiff Half marathon. The boiler was in a cupboard in the bedroom and did make a few noises at times. Do not know for definite but we could not see a carbon monoxide detector and the instruction booklet (paper) was on top of the boiler and obvious fire hazard. We moved it.
When we returned to the apartment after the half marathon we obviously wanted a bath/shower but no hot water. I did contact the property several times and video called and they told me the boiler had been switched off somehow and the water should be ok in about half an hour. However it remained cold for the duration of our stay.
Very disappointing as we then had to have cold showers before going out for dinner.
Such a shame as this put a damper on our trip to Cardiff for the superhalf.
- Katherine (10/5): -
- Alison (10/5): -
- Olivia (9/5): - Easy access and walking distance from Cardiff central
- Vincenza.r.95 (10/5): -
- Katie (8/5): Good location, great hosts, good accommodation - Really nice stay at Neighbourhood Rooms Could have been cleaner some stains from previous and more towels.
Unfortunately the shower door had dropped.
- Nicole (7/5): - Modern and designed well. Enough room. Shower wasn’t very warm. Floors weren’t cleaned. Wasn’t the room we thought we booked so that could be made clear.
- Edward (5/5): -
- Clare (8/5): -
- Ian (8/5): Fresh clean room with comfy bed, good price, just what we were after. - The location was good for us, and just a short walk from the city centre. The room was very clean and tidy, and the bed was extremely comfy. There was a friendly host to welcome us, and to explain everything. Would come back here. There was even a Nespresso machine for a nice coffee in the morning. Maybe could have done with a chair to put our clothes on, but that's a minor point.
- Christina (6/5): Good accomodation but cleanliness could be improved - The location was convenient and the staff member who welcomed us was polite and helpful. However, there were some issues with cleanliness and preparation that should be improved. When we arrived, we were given towels by the staff member from the restaurant downstairs. The towels were carried without any packaging, against her work clothes, they were exposed to light rain and even touched the building while the staff member unlocked the main door for us. This didn’t feel very hygienic.
Also, while the main bed was properly prepared, the sofa bed was dusty and not ready for use. There were no sheets provided for it, just pillows and a duvet. I had to ask for one sheet and the only one available was wrinkled and felt poorly stored.
These details may seem small, but they affect the sense of cleanliness and comfort. With a bit more attention, the overall guest experience could be greatly improved.
- Mike (5/5): Disappointing - The location was brilliant. The staff member who showed us to the room was lovely. The lovely touches of the coffee machine and the arrangement on the bed were a nice touch. Sadly, there was a number of issues. The parking was annightmre and better instructions need fo be given. There was also an issue with cleanliness, such as the tea tray was dirty and had ring marks all over it,
there were marks on the floor, which also had a sticky residue on it and dust all around the room. The main issue was that the room was horrendously hot with no fans excessive to use. Thr windows dont open fully, which i understand is a safety feature, but fans should have been available. It was hell. We didn't sleep and ended up having to check out early due to not being able to sleep and being so unbearably hot. We paid twice as much as normal to stay due to the fact that stereophonics were playing at the stadium. And for this price (over £300), we would have expected much more.
- Mark (4/5): Disappointing - Good location
- Luke (7/5): Good -
- Shaun (9/5): Superb - Good central location, nicely furnished Expensive for what you get
- Roxanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jill (9/5): Great location and the room was amazing. - Everything The entrance to the accommodation could do with a bit of tidying up. The stairwell leading to the apartment was smelly, the carpet was filthy and the paintwork was flaking all over the floor. This gave the wrong impression of what was waiting for us when we got into the room as it was immaculate and beautifully dressed. The parking was a nightmare and we had trouble getting hold of anyone to guide us to where we could park. We were driving round what were very busy nearby streets for 1/2 an hour before we managed to get a response from someone to guide us to where to park. The description stating that there was free parking was a bit misleading. If you revisited you would know where to park but not as a first time guest. As the restaurant downstairs was closed when we first arrived and we couldn’t get hold of anyone we were a bit worried that we wouldn’t be able to get in or parked.
- Alicja (4/5): Should be much better for the price - The staff and the location were very good. Unfortunately the room did not look like on the photos. On top of that it was not clean, the bins were not emptied, there were insects around the window sill and bed. There was grease all around the blind chain and the toilet brush was brown.
- Paul (5/5): Not impressed - The bed was comfortable but small No hot water, day or night, stains on cushions, wallpaper and in the bath. Cobwebs in the bathroom. No milk for teas and no staff available. But worse was blood on a bath towel.
- Amy (7/5): Spacious and funky room in a more calm area - Location was great, short walk from the centre and a lot more calm and quiet area. Bed was very comfy and overall room was very clean. It was very loud during the night time, could hear the cars on the road outside all night long very loudly. Shower train was a bit problematic when we first had showers. Slow to drain and overflowing the bottom of bit careful - lifted it out to help drainage and definitely needed a good clean.
- Rachel (10/5): Ideal apartment for city visit - Great apartment, very short walk from the city centre. It was an ideal base for our stay to go to a concert, the bathroom was nicely decorated and considerately supplied with shampoo/ body wash.
- Jasmine (6/5): Pleasant - The apartment was super cute, very clean and had everything you would want the location was incredible There was a few issues with the water - some of the taps wouldn’t work and the shower water pressure would come on and off which became a issue as was staying for 4 days
- Dee (9/5): Fabulous, comfy bed, even went back to sleep after binmen had been on Friday morning 🌅 - Only thing was there was no milk for tea Milk for tea
- Hayley (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment is very clean plenty of space and the bathroom is amazing!! Nothing it was perfect
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location allowing access to the city centre without the noise of the city centre. Therefor a good night's sleep was easier.
- Sandra (3/5): Poor - It was a walking distance to the centre. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned properly and the shower pressure was incredibly low and was hard to actually wash properly. There was no extra pillows or duvet/blanket for the sofa bed although I did book for a group of 4. Had to sleep with no duvet all night.
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - Spotlessly clean, and everything you need Nothing, loved it
- Juliette (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Nicky (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (9/5): Clean and cosy. - The property was perfectly located for a night at the Tram Shed and walking around the area at night felt very safe and quiet. The room was comfortable and extremely clean and everything was new and updated. The heating worked really great as we stayed on a very cold night. Noise from the other rooms could be heard a bit upstairs.
- Natalie (9/5): A nice find! - Lovely staff as always and room super clean, we had everything we needed, large room and bathroom for 3 people Sofa beds are fold out/clicker type, so although comfy there was a lot of shuffling in the night as we could feel the bars.
- Jo (5/5): Excellent location and the BEST cheese. - Perfectly located and just a 5 minute walk into Cardiff. Ell was absolutely lovely and really attentive. We arrived quite late on the first night but nothing was any trouble for her.
We also ate in the restaurant below which was absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend trying if you’re a cheese lover! The property is on a main road with a lot of traffic. The windows are quite old so you can hear EVERYTHING. There is a corner shop opposite and the owner decided to start hammering his roof at gone midnight which wasn’t ideal! Obviously not the fault of the hosts but it did have an impact on our stay. The windows could definitely do with an upgrade and some privacy glass, you’re in a bit of a fish bowl! We could also hear everything from the people staying above including their every step. They woke us up coming back home from a night out about 2am and we could hear everything in the corridor.
If you’re thinking about staying here then parking is something to seriously think about. We arrived at 10pm on a Friday night and we were only able to park in a non-residential marked bay which were very few and far between, not what you want after driving 200 miles. We ended up parking quite far away so I would consider parking and walking to local car park.
- Vana (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Cardiff - The location and check in were super convenient. The owner was easy to chat with. The place was want and cozy. N/A
- Claire (10/5): Great stay - The staff couldn't have been more helpful, Ell in particular and we felt welcomed and looked after. Everything was spotless and the room was spacious and beautifully appointed. Great location. Shame we didn't have time for food and cocktails downstairs but next time we will. Thanks 😊
- Lucy (9/5): Excellent! - Superb location for stadium. Staff could not do enough to help you and place was very clean and comfortable- nothing fancy! But superb in all the basics. Small sofa bed was uncomfortable
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (5/5): Shame about other guests. - Clean, well decorated room. Other guests very noisy. Woken 3 times during to night to loud hammering on the door and various loud voices and noises. (Not fault if establishment obviously). No milk, no spoons but tea, coffee and sugar provided. Told we couldn’t book restaurant as it was reservation only. That was perfectly understandable but then there was only one table occupied on the 3 times we walked passed at different intervals that afternoon/evening.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Salmon (9/5): Superb -
- Rimini90210 (6/5): Lovely little room on the top floor just outside Cardiff city centre - Top floor, the views were lovely , windows all the way round. Loved the large shower, little added extras such as dishwasher, coffee machine, soap, larger bottles of shower gel, shampoo. The room was well decorated. Warm, the radiators worked well. I didn't like the "sofa beds" . One was a sofa that laid flat, it was a two maybe three seater sofa with arms that didn't lay flat. Once turned into a bed, anyone over 5ft 3, would have their feet hanging over the ends or forced to sleep curled up. The second "sofa bed" was a single chair that lay flat only it wasn't flat like a bed, it had a point in the middle and the end ends (top and tail) were touching the floor. If it wasn't propped up with cushions, it tipped over when sitting on it. Really not comfy. We used the duvet as padding folded up twice plus the show pillows to make a mattress as it was that hard.
- Zoe (8/5): Following some confusion on arrival as we had brought an extra guest not realising our room had no sofa bed, the onsite -
- Caitlin (10/5): It was in a brilliant location with very welcoming and friendly staff. It was soooo light in the apartment too which was - It was in a brilliant location with very welcoming and friendly staff. It was soooo light in the apartment too which was lovely to wake up to. Great facilities too. Literally nothing. Would return again in future!
- Megan (7/5): Lovely staff - Staff incredibly helpful about us needing early access. No problem parking in the street. Very handy having a fridge. Easy access to Bute Park. We were able to walk to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (and even closer to Cardiff City football ground!). Was looking forward to a bath but the water pressure was so low I couldn't run it (but no problems with a nice warm shower). The promised milk never arrived!
- Samuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jordan (8/5): Great location, ideal for us for just the one night. The staff were welcoming . We Would definitely stay there again. - Location and the welcoming staff. The water pressure. We couldn’t make use of the nice big bath as it would have taken hours to fill, the shower wasn’t great either.
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional - Great location for our needs.
Clean spacious and light room.
Central location for the Castle, shopping etc.
- Heather (1/5): Remove from booking.com - I have already written to you about this property. On arrival the external environment was very poor. Very dirty entrance and road. Rubbish, broken glass and fly tipping around vicinity. Tried to contact owner for keys no answer on phone. Had no option but to book another hotel. Would like full refund for such a poor experience. Host knows we didn’t get access but has made no attempt to contact. As above
- Bethany (9/5): Affordable property, well thought out and amazing location, will be visiting again! - Location of this place is amazing! so close to city centre, and though it does not look like a massively respectable area, we had no issues during our stay with noise, neighbours etc and never felt unsafe, even walking back from our night out. the room is decorated very nicely, and even has a coffee machine and a mini fridge. I love that the place also supplies shampoo, conditioner and body wash. It was easy to get the keys from the shop downstairs upon arrival, and as the shop was closed when we left we could just leave them in the room which again was very simple. The booking promises free parking, however this is only true if you manage to get a spot outside of the property, which is not guaranteed unfortunately. Also, even with the instructions in the helpful pamphlet provided, we could not figure out how to use the coffee machine; that or it is not working as it should! And the locks felt a bit dodgy on both the room to our door and the front door of the property, so took us a few tries every time to open/lock it. We would have also loved a full length mirror in the room!
- Adam (6/5): Pleasant - Elle who greeted us was lovely and very helpful. The hand wash and shower gel were heavily watered down. We had planned to eat at the restaurant below the restaurant, but were told on arrival it was shut for the weekend as the manager was on planned leave. That would've been fine if we had been given prior notice.
- Tom (10/5): Great host to a modern and well set up property that’s located walking distance to the center - Great host, helped us secure parking out front and gave us a run down of the property and routes to nearby spots.
Perfect place for my two mates and I to crash after a concert at a concert 10-15 mins away. n/a
- Caitlyn (7/5): Good location and cosy room - It is very modern and cosy inside, it is in a good walking location to the city centre. The area around is a little noisy, but that is to be expected. The responses from the owners weren’t great, as I still haven’t had a reply for messages I sent this morning.
- Catriona (7/5): Great value central location - Clean and modern, easy walking distance to the centre. Free parking outside. Coffee machine and fridge were a bonus. Free parking spots outside. Hallway looked a bit tired, floors quite sloping/ uneven in places. Windows didn't block out much noise from the street and some noise from within the building on our second night. Appreciate its just an old building and nothing some earplugs wouldn't solve.
- Aikaterini (8/5): Would stay again - Nice modern room and good location close to the city centre!
- Jayne (9/5): Lovely stay, welcoming. Interior was lovely and the area was clean. We would stay again. - Interior design
Spacious Not much in the immediate area
- Zoe (8/5): Lovely apartment in Cardiff - The one bedroom apartment is lovely. Really modern. Really comfy bed and a stunning bathroom. The owners have provided everything you could need. The weather was beautiful on our first night, the room was particularly hot and the fan in the room didn’t work. I called the owner and he came with a new fan in less than 5 minutes. The only thing I would mention is that this property is on a main road so be prepared for some noise from the road.
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wendy (8/5): Very good - We were going to an event in Cardiff, so needed to check in quite early, the lovely hosts were very accommodating and we were able to check in with plenty of time. The room was spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed. You could hear the busy road outside, even when we had all of the windows closed.
- Lorraine (9/5): Superb -
- Sally (9/5): Superb -
- Samantha (10/5): Perfect. - The apartment was stunning - good value for money, spacious, clean and beautifully furnished. The bathroom was enormous and immaculately clean.
The location was perfect for us - a two minute walk to the event we were attending and a 15 minute stroll in to the city centre for a pre-concert meal.
The room information booklet answered all of our questions and we were met by a lovely, helpful young lady who showed us to our room and even offered to carry with our luggage.
What's not to like? We would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone and will certainly book again if / when re-visiting Cardiff! Nothing. Genuinely, nothing.
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bethany (6/5): Friendly staff and good location, but room for improvement - Great location close to music venue and Cardiff station. The room was a good size and nice to have tea / coffee making facilities. Friendly staff 😊 The water was luke-warm and dribbled out the shower. The door to the bathroom was also broken so didn’t shut properly. Floors and walls had marks on, just felt like it needed a lick of paint. Sadly expected more for the price that we paid.
- Lisette (4/5): Kind host, nice decorated but not comfortable. - The host was very kind! The bed was to small (length and width) and way to soft. The shower was bad due to lack of a ferm stream.
- Mary (7/5): Good -
- Catherine (7/5): Nice rooms but with some drawbacks - Very clean
Comfortable bed
Easy check in and out
Nice spacious room Shower was slow and not powerful
No toaster or ring to cook. Had microwave but no where to toast
No parking available. This was a nightmare trying to find somewhere convenient
- Mary (8/5): Comfortable and attractive place to stay within easy reach of the city centre. - The owner was very friendly and helpful.
The rooms were nicely decorated and the bathroom products were eco friendly/ sustainable.
Light and airy
Nice selection of teas / coffee
In easy walking distance of the town centre The water pressure was really low - may have just been a problem the night we stayed?
You needed to put your own Netflix/ Prime etc account number into the tv if you wanted to watch anything - couldn’t remember ours!
- Faith (6/5): Pleasant - Good location, very clean, bed was surprisingly comfortable We had some issues with the hot water that put a damper on things. The room was a bit bare bones but worked fine as a place to crash.
- Diane (2/5): Very poor - Tv didn't work. Shower was Luke warm to cold, not the same as the picture had no kitchen or sofa just bed on-suite with kettle and coffee machine. Bed dipped. Cobwebs otherwise clean.
- Alice (1/5): No hot water - avoid this place - Not much Unfortunately we had a very bad experience. On booking.com it says check in is at 12 midday, it’s actually 3pm. The most disappointing thing was the water. We had no hot water in the accommodation. For £120 a night this was pretty bad. It was a very rainy day and we were cold so we could have done with a shower/bath. When I raised it with the host, she never replied despite having spoken throughout the day via message earlier with no problems. To top it off, the tv was too old to pick up any signal at all so most of the facilities we were told were in offer didn’t work.
For the price of the room, we were also suprised you see black mould in the bathroom. I don’t normally leave bad reviews but unfortunately this was an exception. The host never answered any of our messages so we had no other option. Very disappointed with our experience and would advise against staying here.
- David (7/5): The room was perfect for a nights stay in the centre of Cardiff and the location was very good - The hot water was not hot in the shower.
- Jamie (10/5): Amazing. Would for sure look to stay here again when next in Cardiff - Staff were amazing, very friendly and went the extra mile to help where they could. Room was immaculate, came stocked with fresh milk tea and coffee. Bed was comfy and came with spare towels and bedding. Toiletries were also provided which was a bonus too. Shower was cold and to get hot pressure had to be very low
- Polly (6/5): Pleasant - Location was good, about a 15 minute walk from the castle and restaurants. Really didn’t want to moan but there are a couple of things that let down the stay. There wasn’t any hot water so we couldn’t use the bath or shower - luckily the tap in the sink had hot water. We didn’t discover this until the morning when we were checking out so there wasn’t really a solution for this. I emailed the apartment after our stay to inform them but didn’t have any reply.
The bathroom in itself wasn’t the cleanest, there was some black mould & damp around the window.
The doors are paper thin, so if people are coming in late at night it wakes you up which isn’t great.
There isn’t allocated parking, so you just have to hope there is a place on the street outside.
I think it was quite expensive considering all of the above.
- Jonmarcus (9/5): Fab room very convenient location to visit Cardiff city centre - Lovely room, nicely decorated, very convenient for the Tramshed and a short walk to the city centre.
- Abi (6/5): Amazingly decorated apartment but a little let down - The room itself was really lovely, very tastefully decorated and the bathroom was gorgeous. It aas very clean and you could tell had been looked after. Ell, who checked us in, was lovely, approachable and was on hand to help us if we needed. We only ended up staying one night out of the two we booked due to other reasons, but a couple of things that let Neighbourhood Bedrooms down were the bed and the heating. The room was absolutely freezing (stayed in February) and even with a radiator and electric heater on the room was still extremely cold. I think this was only made worse with it being wooden floors and having only one small rug near the sofa. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, even only staying one night, and we both had a very bad nights sleep! I would say to make it better, it would be useful to have blackout blinds and provide earplugs too as being on a busy street, the room was light and noisy during the night.
- Lesley (9/5): Superb - The shower. I found it difficult to work out how to switch it on and then there was only a trickle of water.
- Duncan (4/5): Disappointing -
- Joanne (8/5): Very good - Excellent location, good facilities and clean There wasn't designated parking - had to find a space on the road nearby which proved tricky at 5pm on a Friday night.
- Gordon (6/5): Pleasant - Great location There was no stove top or cooking utensils, just a microwave and mini fridge
- Erifyli (10/5): Great value for money, clean and central! - The host was incredibly friendly, attentive and always available to answer any questions. The space was very clean and tidy there was a full flight of stairs to get to the room which makes it difficult if you have heavy luggage or accessibility issues
- Anjeli (8/5): Very good -
- Natalie (10/5): Everything we could need! - Lovely and exceptionally clean, comfortable with plenty of space. The bathroom was spotless with plenty of soap/shampoo provided, an extra heater was in the bathroom as it's been cold but we didn't need it, lots of variety of drinks provided and a mini fridge to keep milk. Lovely friendly staff!
- Lady (10/5): Value for money, great proximity to town centre clean and warm - Lovely hosts, parked almost outside and was met by people to hand over the keys, will book again, close to town centre clean and warm room
- Paul (9/5): Absolutely perfect - The hosts were absolutely amazing, such good fun and so welcoming❤️
- Vanessa (4/5): Disappointing and not worth the money - Good location, friendly staff, good facilities The boiler in our room was so noisy we slept for about 2 hours!! The room wasn't particularly clean either, there were lots of dead bugs in the blinds along with foundation stains on the bedsheets.
- Mrs (9/5): Superb -
