Guest Reviews
- FP (10/5): - Cleanliness.
Attention to detail.
Attitude of staff/owner.
Location. Leaving!
- Gavin (9/5): Excellent we really loved it and the location. - Great location, very clean and nice little touches. Very welcoming. Sofa bed is knackered so not an option to be used if two friends staying and need separate beds.
- Abigayle (8/5): Lovely little hut with great views and surroundings - The staff were very helpful before and during our stay. The accommodation, although compact was clean and had everything you need, it was great value for money. Lovely location. No wardrobe space, only a small sofa bed to sit on.
- Anthony (7/5): It did the job and was clean and well stocked in the kitchen. - Lovely setting and the sound of the birds waking up was magical. Even got a tour around one of the hangars. Lovely people on site. The Easter egg and drinks were a nice touch. The sofa bed wouldn't unfold and appeared to be broken. It was too late to fix it so I just slept on the two seat sofa with my feet resting on the small coffee table. Not the comfiest sleep. Good job I had bright my own sleeping bag too as there was no duvet or sheet for the sofa that I could find. The bedroom had no heater and was cold. The shower room was also very cold.
- Jenny (10/5): Luvly, cosy night away. Always immaculate. Will defo return yet again š - Luvly cosy little get away we absolutely love it. Nothing
- Michael (10/5): A lovely quiet night in a unique location - I loved the nice little touches that were provided - biscuits, drinks, toiletries. Location was excellent and very peaceful. Host was responsive and flexible. Nothing
- Ben (10/5): -
- Scott (10/5): - Everything that was needed and much warmer then I expected considering it dropped down to as low as two degrees.
- Kayleigh (9/5): Fabulous way to switch off and relax - Absolute little gem in a lovely peaceful location, we loved the fire pit and the games. The place was really clean and cozy with a very comfy bed and a short drive to the local village, really good communication from the host and some lovely little treats left for us we would definitely return in the future.

- Sarah (7/5): Lovely little place to get away from it all. - 2 nights and I could have easily stayed another. Itās cosy and comfortable, can tell a lot of thought has went into the Hut to make it a good little place to get away from the hustle and bustle. We took an iPad to watch as knew there was no TV - some people might like that but we use TV to relax so with the iPad, the views and the silence of every day life, we were able to chill and enjoyed every minute.
We toasted marshmallows with biscoff biscuits on the fire and watched a few planes take off. The stones around the fire pit gave off some witchy vibes which I absolutely loved! We went to The Hogs Head Inn for food, that was lovely - highly recommend. If I ever feel the need to get away again, I will be back! There was nothing to dislike.
- Denise (10/5): Cosy and comfortable. - Very cosy with basically everything you need included in the space provided. Lovely outdoor area and fire pit. Lovely welcome gifts as well, very sweet touch. Lots of boardgames to entertain the little ones. N/A
- Pokryszka (10/5): -
- Gillian (10/5): - Small but so compact. Staff on site were warm and welcoming. Lots of little personalised touches , such as complimentary treats and drinks. It was perfect . So peaceful and quiet. There was nothing to not like.
- Helen (9/5): Relaxing countryside stay. - The hut was comfortable with everything you would need. It was spotlessly clean, and there was a lovely welcome pack on arrival. The setting is beautiful. Very quiet, especially in the evening, with beautiful views and birdsong. Lovely to be able to eat outside all the time. Enjoyed watching the planes and microlights.
Great location for getting to the coast and other attractions. Would recommend Cragside for an interesting day out. The weather was hot, so the hut was also very warm. Also, lots of bugs in the evening, so I would recommend taking some repellant!
- Alex (8/5): Brilliant location, quiet and full of nature - Location
Cost No wood for fire pit
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb - Great location, exactly as described
- Gavin (9/5): Superb - Lovely place really enjoyed it village just upntjw road
- Rhianne (10/5): Exceptional - Wow, what an amazing place to stay! If you like being in the countryside, then this is the place for you. The views are incredible. I've been doing things like this more often to help with my mental health, and this is by far my most favourite place to stay. It's cosy, clean, and has everything you need. The little treats on the bed were an amazing touch. Thank you very much, we'll definitely be back again. I had one too many drinks at the local pub and fell asleep before getting to use the fire pit but that's my fault, not theirs, haha.
- Steven (10/5): Stunning - Beautiful property in stunning location, had everything you need and more Couldnāt fault a thing
- Debbie (8/5): Great spot for a night stay. - Sitting and watching swallows and a hare was delightful. Entrance immediately off road a little off putting! Once at the shepherds hut it was lovely.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - This was a little gem, a great location nice and quiet out in the countryside.
- Kevin (10/5): Fabulous and we will be back! - Accommodation was lovely, clean and had everything we needed.
Fire-pit area was amazing, protected from the elements by reeds and with stones for seating, a real vibe!!!!
Watching the plane land and take off during a flying lesson I assume was really cool.
The dark skies were some of the best I have experienced in Northumberland.
Lauren is a really great host, we damaged something in the property (completely our fault) and she was so lovely and understanding and it was sorted fairly.
- Jenny (10/5): Luvly little cozy cabin. We loved it and will definitely return x - Luvly cosy lodge. We loved the board games that were there and enjoyed a few games Nothing that anyone can control it was fab the great British weather let us down but we will defo book again. And hopefully be able to sit outside and enjoy the piece and quiet.
- Thompson (9/5): Superb - Fabulous little hideaway, spotlessly clean and very cozy with some lovely little personal touches to make us feel right at home. The location is very peaceful, just right for a night of relaxation and great for stargazing. Communication with Lauren was first class, very genuine and obliging. We will definitely be back again soon. Thank you team Runaway! š
- Kim (10/5): Peaceful, calm, clean - Loved the little hut, so peaceful, quiet, warm inviting and clean. Loved the little touches Lauren left us too š thankyou so much.
Communication was great. Lauren was great at letting me know directions to get there. We had afternoon tea at the running fox just a mile up the road before arriving.
Will Definetly be back!!!
- Timothy (10/5): Excellent - Very clan and cozy Nothing
- Gemma (7/5): Quirky little.retreat - Cleanliness, little gifts left for us, lovely.host
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -

- Adam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jenny (10/5): Gorgeous and cozy! - The stay was so lovely. The cabin is really cute and cozy and Lauren was so lovely, heading over in the morning to put the heating on for us so it was warm when we arrived. We sat and watched little planes take off in the morning which also made the trip special!! The decor of the hut was so lovely and cute- the bathroom was lovely and the room was perfect and cosy thereās little hooks to hang up clothes/small bags and the mattress and bedding was really comfy. Lauren left out little drinks and snacks and thereās a basket of board games to really add to the coziness. We headed down to the local pub for tea, after looking at the very cute and informative guest booklet in the hut with all cute places to go nearby. Also- the shower was so lovely, I was expecting very little from a shower in a hut but it was so warm and the water pressure was fab!
Overall we had such a lovely lovely stay and are planning to come back next year!! I absolutely loved the hut and our stay so this is by no means criticism but just an idea to put a little rug/mat on the inside of the hut to put your shoes on as when itās rainy the shoes can make the floor a little dirty.
- Caitlin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amy (10/5): Peaceful - Loved the location, scenic views and peaceful surrounding. Loved the fire pit!
- Krisztina (10/5): Very clean and cosy place - Very clean, beautiful area, nice staff It is a bit small for 3 person but perfect fir a couple
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, cosy stay, clean and lovely personal touch of drinks and snacks in the cabin on arrival. Excellent communication with the host.
- Sarah (10/5): A cosy getaway in Northumberland - A lovely property in a great location. Lauren was a friendly host, who gave us all of the information we needed.
- Pauline (9/5): Superb - I liked the secluded location and the stars at night were amazing š¤©. The Runaway is cosy and compact but had everything we needed for our overnight stay. We ate out but there was a microwave for cooking and a picnic table outside for warmer weather eating outside the hut.
There was a lovely welcome tray with biscuits, sweets and drinks, tea and coffee were also provided.
The bed was comfy and we were nice and warm. No TV but we were happy listening to music from our phones on the Bluetooth speaker provided. There were also board games to play but we were happy reading. A great getaway. The sink in the living area kitchen doubled up as a hand sink following use of the toilet. It meant that if you didn't wash the dishes straight away you washed your hands over the dishes, not very hygienic.
There wasn't any body wash in the shower, my husband used the soap dispenser by the sink but he felt if he dropped it it would crack the shower tray.
- Kelly (10/5): The most charming little place - My daughter and I stayed for one night at the Runaway. We absolutely loved it. It is the cutest place with so much character and charm. I was very impressed with how much space there was given the size from the outside. We really appreciated all the special touches. It had absolutely everything we needed. You can tell alot of thought has been put in to ensure the best experience and comfort for guests. The location is easy to get to and so quiet and peaceful. It's the perfect base to unplug and relax. We will definitely be back! Thank you.
- Mark (10/5): Great stay - Check in was easy, good communication with Lauren. 1st impressions were lovely and clean. Nice touch with a small bottle of prosecco and a gin and tonic on the bed. Nice location.
- Amy (10/5): Gorgeous, Cosy and Comfortable - Beautiful wee hut, cosy, comfy and had everything we needed for a lovely weekend. We especially appreciated the biscuits, sweeties, drinks and personal note the host left us. Communication was excellent. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.
- S (9/5): Great. Would stay again. - The location is lovely, beautiful views. Peaceful and quiet. The shepherd's hut was perfect-lovely touches eg the drinks and snacks welcome tray, everything you need. Good communication from the host.
- Heather (8/5): Quiet location. Perfect for my needs and plenty tea and coffee. Would use again -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Rosemary (9/5): Cosy little one night break - Great little property. Very comfy and has everything you would need, surprisingly roomy.
Games and speaker are handy Nothing to complain about!
- Donna (10/5): Lovely little glamping adventure! - I loved the location amd the quirkiness. Also the little touches - all cutlery and kitchen utensils were provided, tea and coffee and also prosecco for me and lemonade for the kids with some sweets - really thoughtful My only bit of feedback would perhaps to add a big bin outside the hut to collect rubbish. Also to clear a way to the fire pit as it could have done with a quick strim and perhaps add some seats next tp it - i had camping chairs so we used those to sit by the fire. That said these are tiny things and didnt impact on our stay our liklihood to come back at all!
- Anne (10/5): Ideal for taking time out to relax. - A lovely relaxing break in the countryside with exceptional accommodation. It was a bonus to see microlites ready to take off on the runway, and the people I met were very friendly. Everything was good.
- Pwain01 (10/5): What an amazing place to get away - A warm welcome with prosecco and snacks was a wonderful extra. We loved the details in the furnishings and kitchenware. A lot of thought has gone into such a cosy little place.
A wonderful location where we sat and watched the stars at 3am!
It was a truly lovely place to stay for the night and get away from the everyday chores of life.
Fully recommended.
- Izzy (10/5): Rare wee gem - Great communication with the owner Lauren. A lovely welcome of wine, lemonade and sweets for the kids. Hut was clean and had everything little thing we needed. There was a firepit, picnic table and wee seats to sit on outside of the hut. Was great to watch the microlight planes taking off and landing and right next to the hut was two barns which had planes in them. At night we had place to ourselves, playing games which were provided and listening to music on the Bluetooth speaker which was also provided. Everything was great.
- Jenny (9/5): A great little place to stay - Lovely, peaceful getaway. Bed was super cosy & comfy. Beautiful scenery.
Excellent location for visiting Alnwick Castle and Bamburgh castle.
Local pubs are a pleasant (approx 30 mins) walk away. N/A.
If I stayed again I probably would be a bit better prepared and would bring some croissants or something for breakfast.
- Rebecca (10/5): Runaway to the runaway - Incredibly cosy with a gorgeous rural setting, our host, Lauren was brilliant with communication and we arrived with lovely wee welcome gifts which were perfect after a day out climbing.
Highly recommend to anyone who wants a comfy, cute and ideal getaway. Celebrating our anniversary, and this night away was perfect to switch off from the world of technology and hustle and bustle. Didn't get to stay for longer

- Exley (9/5): Superb - Gorgeous getaway hut. The host was so thoughtful with drinks, snacks and games provided. Bed was very comfy and facilities great. I stayed with my 2 children (aged 14 and 11) and they enjoyed it too - we'll be back! Great communication from the host. Shame about the weather when we got there but as it was pouring with rain that can't be helped. Would be amazing to sit out on an evening listening to the birds.
- Matthew (10/5): Relaxing stay in lovely surroundings - Stylish, cosy and great facilities. Nothing
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect get away - Great to have a shower and toilet contained within the hut. Beautiful surroundings, saw a microlight and an aeroplane take off and land which was exciting (particularly for my daughter!) Outdoor seating area perfect for evenings. Owners very responsive to messaging on the app. My daughter slept happily on the sofa bed, the hut stayed nice and cosy all night. We only booked one night, definitely wanted to stay longer!
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Rowell (10/5): Exceptional - The peace and tranquility of the location.Host very helpful Great welcoming pack.Loved watching the microlights take off and land Recommend The Village Inn for local pub grub
- Karen (10/5): 50th birthday - Stunning location, perfect mini break! Excellent communication between my partner and the owner whilst we were enroute, absolutely blown away on arrival because it's quite simply beautiful and an amazing use of space, everything you need is at hand and a wonderful welcome tray from the owner for us on arrival š, had a flight over Northumberland with Paul and the whole experience was a fabulous way to mark my 50th birthday, thank you to Lauren & Paul and the lovely people we chatted with in the hanger, we will be visiting again. Karen & John š There's nothing to dislike it's quite simply a little piece of perfection
- Tracey (9/5): Superb - The best was certainly made out of this property, it was fully equipped, immaculate and had lovely finishing touches. The communication with the owner was fantastic. There was nothing we didn't like. We arrived late and the weather was poor so we didn't get the benefit of outside space, would like to come back and try the fire pit
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional - The location was lovely - open countryside with sheep and lambs in the next field, and a pheasant that appeared every so often. The accommodation was clean and warm, the bed was very comfortable, and tea and coffee were provided. I liked the welcome tray with a bottle of wine, biscuits, and sweets. It was the perfect place to relax after a busy week, and I'd book again. Lauren kept in touch and provided helpful advice, and I was able to arrive a bit earlier. Thank you. I can't think of anything I didn't like.
- Sarah (10/5): Quiet night away - So quiet and peaceful. A quick walk into the town for food and drink. So clean and cosy. Easy to get to and clear instructions from the owner. She even left us a tray with wine and an Easter egg! Everything you need for a night away. Nothing.
- Siti (10/5): Exceptional - Cosy š friendly host ,complimentary wine and the host dad was extra friendly that he allow us to enter into his aircraft not one but a number of them. Made us tea and gave us extra bottle of wine to take home.tje host was very good with directions instructions will definitely go back there There is nothing not to like at the runaway
- Dawn (9/5): Superb - Absolutely beautiful location , Lauren was amazing and communicated with us before and after the stay , the place was immaculate and would definitely go back
- Elaine (10/5): Perfect! - So quiet and peaceful. Very well thought out hut and the living space was larger than we expected. It included everything we needed, a microwave, fridge, toaster.....the list goes on. Immaculately clean too. I would have no hesitation in recommending the hut to my friends. Nothing
- Bernie (10/5): The only problem with our stay is that we hadnāt booked to stay longer as we had such a lovey couple of days - Such a cozy little space with everything you need
- Georgina (10/5): Already planning next trip! - Location, the peace and quiet but also the excitement of the airfield. It exceeding expectations. Also, despite the host being a new Mum and having a lot on her mind, she still found the time to make sure we had all we needed and were comfortable. Literally, not a think. Perfect for weekend get-away.
- Ben (10/5): Runaway Northumberland! - Runaway is absolutely brilliant! My partner and I were staying overnight during a Northumberland excursion and we couldn't have been happier. The hut was so, so cosy with the comfiest bed I've ever slept on. The facilities were great, the hosts were lovely and helpful and the view of the stars outside were both enchanting and romantic. A truly unique getaway that we'd love to return to! I can't think of anything we didn't like.

All round a lovely weekend.
