Guest Reviews
- Peter (8/5): - Ruhige und zugleich zentrale Lage in idyllischer Altstadtgasse.
Das Apartment sauber. Alles vorhanden. Apartment etwas dunkel, aber Altbau in enger Gasse eben
- Gary (10/5): Excellent apartment and location - Phenomenally well located. Very classy and comfortable. Front door is on a staircase making entry and exit a bit tricky.
- Elisabeth (8/5): -
- Kathryn (10/5): Loved our stay! - The apartment was very comfortable and spacious. To be able to use the washing machine was very convenient. The area is very quiet but walking distance to most popular areas in Salzburg.
- Fernando (10/5): Um excelente lugar para estar - Localização, conforto, limpeza
- Mary (9/5): Great apartment in the centre of Salzburg - Great location. Walking distance to the old town, cafes, restaurants & bars. Great set up for self catering too. Not a big deal, but could not connect to the wifi information given.
- Helen (8/5): -
- Anna (10/5): Great location, wont be disappointed! - Centrally located to restaurants, transportation and walking distance to places of interest. Nothing really
- Traci (9/5): Sweet apartment in charming Salzburg - This is a nice and well equipped apartment located in beautiful old town Salzburg. The rooms are comfortable. The bathtub and shower are a bit tricky. The apartment building is on a medieval road that cars cannot enter. We were dropped off about 100 meters from the apartment, but it was not a problem for us. We took a late train from Budapest to Salzburg and the property charged us 49 Euros for late check in. We found this exorbitant because online check in is available throughout Austria and security measures, such as a lock box with a code, could be employed for travelers arriving after hours.
- Lia (8/5): Worth staying there again and was perfect for what I needed during my travels! - The apartment was very conveniently located. I loved having both a kitchen and washer. The internet only worked in the living room. I could barely get any service in the kitchen or bathroom.
- Stephen (10/5): - Location location location
- Barend (9/5): -
- BRENDON (10/5): Loved Salzburg will definitely revisit, so much to see and do people are super friendly - Clean, very spacious had everything we needed and in a great location. Would definitely book again Nothing
- Peter (9/5): -
- Cindy (10/5): - Everything!! Wonderful, comfortable Appartment with everything one could need during your stay. The location was perfect to easily get to any place you wanted. Nothing!! We loved it
- Jami (10/5): We loved everything about our stay. - The apartment was in an amazing location and provided great accommodations. It was perfect.
- Angela (7/5): Nice location in nice house, would consider staying again - Very good location (10 min. stroll to old town) & beautiful streets for cafes, pubs, restaurants & great shops in 3 min.; lift;
v. g. washer/dryer & dishwasher; very friendly, helpful owners & contact for any queries. Rather dark as hewn into the rock on a narrowing street; our 1st floor apartment had no sufficient lighting in compact kitchen area. All needs a fresh lick of paint/maintenance & cleaning (particularly in bathroom). Curtains not clean, fittings coming off wall (curtain rods, towel holder), many walls chipped, bathroom very outdated, grey, over-used, hard old towels. Overall nice enough for a few days but needs to be maintained a lot better.
Due to low ceilings, people over 173 cm height will struggle to stand in bath/hallway arch.
- George Stossel (9/5): Very enjoyable. Very close to the Altstadt where we visited the Christmas Markets. - This was an apartment, not a hotel room and it had a kitchen and a washing machine. The shower was small and I kept bumping the water faucet and changing the temperature.
- Dennis (8/5): - Close to public transport and centre of town
- Anette (10/5): -
- Barbara (9/5): Nice stay, close to everything. - Good stay. Host is very nice and helpful.
- John (8/5): Lovely position in a beautiful city - Great position and responsive host Nothing, it was really nice thanks
- Kym (8/5): - The apartment was a lot larger than expected. The location was absolutely perfect. The kitchen was well stocked. There was no hand soap in the dispenser. No dish soap or shampoo/conditioner. The bathroom needed repainting.
- Martinez (10/5): - Apartamento excelente, tamanho ótimo. O colchão nao é confortável, ruim.
- Judy (6/5): Wish we‘d chosen a different place to stay - near shopping and restaurants
good hot shower Check in was extremely frustrating. Kitchen had a useless coffee maker. Comforter was too hot for the room. TV was small and useless. No clear instructions for washer/drier. Very dark. Only one soap for both shower and bathroom sink. Large step down from living room to the hall. Overall disappointing.
- Neil (9/5): Comfortable and convenient - The location was excellent for the major Old Town attractions. The place itself was clean.
We weren’t exactly sure of what to expect in such an old building, however the interior was renovated in a modern style that has adapted to fit the old rooms. In places the ceilings are very low (we are not tall, yet had to stoop a little to enter the front door, and the low ceilings in the bedroom and shower in particular are something to be aware of for some taller people).
The property is quiet overnight, and a little out of the way for most tourists, and it felt very safe wandering around the area.
It was a comfortable place to rest up after enjoying Salzburg through the day, and not too far to pop back in between visiting different attractions. Whilst most things we needed for our short (3 night) stay were provided, only one partial roll of toilet paper was provided, and we could not find dish detergent (had to use the dish washer for a couple of plates and some cutlery).
- Danny (8/5): - Good location to get to sights, within easy walking distance and quiet.
- Alan (6/5): The location was convenient but not suitable for travellers with mobility concerns. The Salzburg Mobility Card was not p - Good size apartment Bathroom dates and showing signs of extensive mould in the shower.
- Cheryl (9/5): Lovely stay - Great location, one street back from the river in old town. Easy walk to lots of eateries and sights.
The apartment was quiet and spacious.
- Keith (1/5): Regret booking this appartment, should have gone to hotel. - Location ok mis- communication in getting keys. No staff to met us after sending email with our ETA. Spent 1/2 hour trying to get their attention. Chipped drinking glass, not enough mugs, curtains not hung properly-did not fit window, crack in bathroom sink, BLACK MOULD IN BATHROOM+PEELING CEILING PAINT OVER SHOWER, shelve above sink in wrong position and in poor condition, shower screen cracked, various trip hazards and shelve above sofa -hazard, sofa very uncomfortable as was the bed.
No dishwasher tabs( supplied after request) Washing machine not drying effectivly. This was a main reason why we booked this appartment.
- Geoff (10/5): Great place to stay in an interesting, if clearly touristy, city - A quiet location but only a little way to all the sites and transport links. Beautifully furnished and fitted out apartment that was comfortable and spotlessly clean (I do wonder how they got the larger items of furniture in) - the whole, very old, building looks to have been completely renovated fairly recently. (For info, it's along a narrow cobbled street that's difficult for larger taxis to drive along if you'd struggle with your baggage BUT the smaller taxis can get there.) Difficult check-in filling in an extensive form on a tablet and photographing our own passports with a lady who had little English to help explain what was needed; difficult if not used to the technology. Most of that information could have been provided in advance. After that everything was excellent.
- Ilona (8/5): -
- Marion (9/5): Great apartment in an ideal location - The location was perfect and the apartment had everything that I needed. The lady that checked me in had no English which wasn't really a problem but if I had had any questions she wouldn't have been able to answer them. She had a tablet which I filled my details on for receiving the guest mobility ticket. I expected it to come by email but I didn't get it.
- tyron (7/5): - Nice location in a quiet area Pillows are horrible
- mreed (10/5): Great place to stay in Salzburg - Comfortable unit in an excellent location in Salzburg. Very comfortable with all we needed for a few days break and wander around Salzburg
- Ito (8/5): -
- Debra (3/5): - Great location in the old area and right by all tourist sites but still quiet. When we realised how awful the place was and called the mananger, Herbert, he turned up promptly and sorted most things. It would have been awful if he hadn't been so nice and helpful, but he was very surprised that we expected better and told us that travellers usually have coffee pods, laundry, and dishwash detergent with them. Really??!! We had a train delay, and they wanted 49 Euros to book in after 6pm. The check-in was confusing and sressful as the person spoke zero English. She also didn't give us the voucher that allows free travel on public transport. We also had to sign an acceptance to pay 490 Euros if we lost the key. There was no mention of this in advance. Only 2/6 light bulbs in the lounge worked, and bedside lights didn't go. Advertised as with coffee machine, dishwasher and washing machine but nothing to use them with. Finally gave us coffee pods but machine didn't work anyway. Shower drain was blocked, and we had to get out before water got over the top. The kettle was so full of lime scale that there was a scum on our tea. All this cost us twice what we paid for far nicer places in Vienna and Berlin.
- ingrid (8/5): Uitstekend. Heerlijk bed
- Ron (6/5): Goede plek, maar meer rust verwacht. - Locatie is uitstekend.
Rustige locatie. Doucheafvoer liep slecht door en stonk.
Helft lampenpeertjes kapot.
- Sara Luz (9/5): -
- Yujin (8/5): -
- Kim (7/5): Good -
- Adriano (8/5): Very good - Good apartment close to old town, cafes and restaurants. Good facilities and nice big living area. Can walk to all main sites. The weather was very warm whilst we toured Salzburg. No air-conditioning or fans in apartment.
- Wende (9/5): Good location on a narrow quiet street/pathway - The location was very good. It would be nice to have a fan because when it is very hot there wasn't any air movement in the apartment.
- Prawal (6/5): Would stay somewhere else - It is one of the apartments in an old building.
One of the charming streets of Salzburg.
While it was close to the old town, it is on the other side of the Salzach river.
One may use the apartment for just transit.
We were here for 5 days but there is no lasting impression of the place.
It has cooking utensils and crockery for a family.
The bed was comfortable. While the amenities were just as listed, one hoped that some supplies for a 5 day stay would be refilled.
No sugar, tea, coffee but Oregano was there which too perhaps was left by previous occupants'.
No soap, shampoo in the bathroom.
No washing powder, dishwasher detergent.
Dishwashing liquid was provided though so that we could leave the utensils clean.
We had to stock everything to make our stay functional. The shops here close early so that wisdom dawned upon us a day later.
We realised staying next to the train station would have been more suitable as public transport is fantastic.
The properties in Salzburg have to provide staying guests with a transport mobility pass which takes care of most of your day excursions as well. So this location does not provide any advantage.
The biggest negative for us was the cleaning fee of 90 euro charged for a booking of 5 days. We wish to bring to the attention of booking platforms as well that such charges are simply ripping off the customer when there are hardly any cleaning supplies, no replacement of linen, and no removal of garbage during the entire stay.
- Kim (10/5): An excellent apartment in a quiet location yet right in the centre of old Salzburg. - The apartment is in an amazing location and is very quiet. Even though there isn’t air conditioning, it was very comfortable because it backs onto a cliff. The bed is comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with dishes and pots and pans.
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Large apartment with fully equipped kitchenette, living area, bathroom with washing machine, and the bedroom.
Good location.
- Carol (9/5): Good stay in Salzburg - It was spacious Had all the necessary kitchen utensils Clean Good neighborhood Close to everything No air conditioning or fan Would have greatly appreciated soap for the washing machine
- Katrina (9/5): Great apartment - Great location in a quiet cobblestone laneway. Well equipped apartment, beautiful dining area. Very clean with comfortable bed.
- Susan (8/5): Fantastic location, beautiful old town apartment. €400 agreement for lost key. - Beautifully decorated art deco style apartment. Excellent location. On arrival had to sign an agreement to pay €400 in the event of a lost key. Apparently the barrels would have to be replaced. How anyone would know where the key came from I have no idea. Have never lost a key but found this a bit off putting regardless.
It was a little cool at times, a couple of blankets for the sofa would be good on cool evenings. Heating in kitchen came on for a bit early morning and on last rainy day, I imagine, thermostat controlled by building?
It is requested not to hang washing ( because of dampness) but rather use the drier instead. I never managed to get it more than uniformly damp despite Google translate. Have since discovered some machines dry better in Europe while others leave it steaming. Not an issue I’m sure if just over from home for a few days but when on the move it is.
- Matthew (10/5): Great little apartment in a great location. - Excellent location. Set away down a quiet lane with next to no traffic because it is so narrow. Very straightforward transfer from the airport by local bus. Owner met us at the secure foyer early before the apartment was ready to let us drop our bags off which was very kind. Bed was a little soft but that was just personal taste. No interesting views from the windows but this didn't bother us. No parking but we didn't need a car and the buses are excellent and take you further afield if you need to.
- Marilyn (9/5): Nice apartment in fantastic location. - The location is outstanding. It’s in a street steeped in history and close to bars, shops and restaurants and with easy access to the old town. It was spacious with art deco styling.
- Seaira (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (10/5): Lovely, most unexpected apartment, a brilliant stay. - It met our every need. Good comfortable bed, hot shower, great, fully equipped kitchen, gorgeous dining and lounge area, able to wash clothes. Centrally located to explore all of Salzburg. The drying function on the washing machine wasn’t very warm at all. We struggled to get our clothes dry.
- Janette (8/5): Great location - Location and comfortable We organised for a 2pm checkin but we couldn’t get in for a little while as the cleaner was still there.
No extra things such as spare rubbish bags or washing powder.
- Jazmyn (8/5): 100% recommend this stay if location, charm, and affordability is important to you. - Unbeatable location! Right in the middle of shopping, bars, and restaurants. The host was VERY friendly and the apartment was charming (dates back to the 1600s) with elevator, kitchen, washer/dryer, and separate living room. This was the most affordable option in the area and I can’t believe the deal we got when booking. We stayed in apartment 1. I can’t wait to stay here again.
Also, you cannot drive up to the apartment street. I highly recommend parking at Mirabell parking garage. It has poor reviews online, but honestly it was clean, spacious, and convenient (7 min walk to the apartment). Get the PCard from Contipark online for CHEAP parking (8 euro per 24hrs)! The WiFi did not reach to the bedroom, but everywhere else was fine. There were coffee pods but they did not work for the traditional style coffee maker. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware and serveware, but you’ll need to bring all basic edible items (like olive oil and seasonings). My husband is 6’5 and was too tall for the shower, but he managed fine! All of these things were just minor inconveniences as we spent most of our time out and about.
- Edward (9/5): Location location location - Location, size, ease of getting everywhere, Need more than 2 bath towels and 1 hand towel for 2 ppl for 4 days.
Also should leave instructions in English for washer.
- Sarah (10/5): Can't beat the location - Great location, very comfortable and large apartment, spotlessly clean No coffee pods for the machine and you can't find pods that fit it at the supermarket. Given the price maybe leaving a coffee pod or a tea bag or two would be nice.
- Mina8 (8/5): Very good - Herbert met us at the building, he showed us around and explained how all the electrical appliances work. He is very patient, friendly and helpful.
The location and that historical building are unbeatable. No shower gel, no shampoo in the bathroom. No cooking oil in the kitchen, unbelievable 😔
- Allan (9/5): Excellent thank you - Very well appointed
- Dianne (9/5): Charming apartment in an historic building - Very comfortable and stylish apartment, ideally located in easy walking distance of the sights of Salzburg. The neighbourhood is charming, as Steingasse is a pedestrian only street on the opposite bank to the old town.
- Dee (10/5): A home from home that we were sorry to leave. - This was a real home from home for our 4 night stay in Salzburg. The location was perfect- close to attractions and restaurants but tucked away in a quiet location. The building itself is beautiful and we liked the features such as exposed stonework.
The apartment was very spacious with lots of storage and was very well equipped with everything you could need - washing machine, dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster, microwave, oven, glassware, cutlery, crockery, utensils, iron, hairdryer and much more.
We received a lovely welcome and we’re sorry to leave. We’d definitely book this apartment again. Nothing!
- Dawn (9/5): An excellent stay in old, old city in old residential building made modern. Love to stay again! - The location was excellent. Right in the middle of Salzburg near restaurants and grocery store. A bridge to the old section was very close. The flat had been recently updated and everything was modern. Kitchen well appointed with appliances and cookware. We were on the 3rd floor and there was a lift. On a very narrow alley way, perfect for walking, Took a taxi from the train; about 5 minutes. Took an uber back and it was 10 Euros. It did not affect us because we did not have a car--the "street" alley was so narrow you could not have a car there. When you book they make that clear.
- Willing (8/5): Fabulous stay, such a comfortable apartment and the location wcoukd not have been better - The location is fantastic
- Byung (10/5): Perfect place to stay for tourist. Will stay again absolutely. - Too many things to mention. The apartment was beyond our expectation. Very quiet all day long. Very safe neighbour. Great location to everywhere. Very kind and helpful manager who handed over key & explained everything to know while staying with full of kindness and consideration. Nothing. Never
- Marc (8/5): A nice apartment in Salzburg - A fantastic location. Spacious apartment. Great communication. The apartment lacked simple considerations, such as coffee, tea or a bottle of water on arrival. An extra pillow would have been appreciated.
- Tatyana (9/5): Superb - Location is great. Close to a bus and museums
- Nikki (9/5): Exactly the kind of place we were looking for with a postcard perfect view of the city - Quiet neighborhood but only a 5-10 minute walk to restaurants and tourist sites. So much closet space! It was nice to actually have enough room for both of us to unpack. We had to work on this trip and the wifi held up under the demands of our laptops. Not a negative, just an info point: it is an old building, which means it comes with quirks like mini steps between the bedroom and bathroom. Going to the bathroom in the middle of the night without putting my glasses on was a test of balance and not stubbing your toe
- Scott (10/5): Location, location, location - this apartment was in the middle of everything we wanted to see and do while in Salzburg. - Location Nothing
- Ann (7/5): Good -
- Penny (10/5): Very special! - Absolutely wonderful! Lovely building and rooms! Felt like home with lovely furnishings! Clean and comfortable. Easy checkin. Close to both sides of the river and the two old towns.
- Glenyss (7/5): lovely heritage apartment - The close proximity to Christmas markets and shops. The size of space of apartment was great. The owners and staff were lovely. loved the history of the area. The beds were comfy. We needed more pillows found the ones there too soft.
- Concettina (10/5): Perfectly equipped, comfortable location in Salzburg. It was a great stay. - There was plenty of room. Location was great, an easy walk to the old town. Wasn’t noisy. -
- Sh-cda (8/5): Stay in this medieval building & street! - Great location! Quiet street, minutes from shopping & restaurants. 20 min to/from train station - easy to find!)
Huge apartment! Separate living/dining rm.
-very historic street & building. Inside, the apartment has everything.
- I loved having washer/dryer! (English instructions would have been appreciated - I googled to find English manual) Apartment is VERY dark as it is north facing at the bottom of the monastery cliff. (However, I enjoyed the opportunity to stay in such a historic building & location!)
- Diane (8/5): Very good -
- Anne (9/5): Great stay - Lovely very large apartment, well equipped and in a good location. Nothing
- Lucy (8/5): Great location for a short break in a beautiful city. Would stay here again if returning to Salzburg - Prompt response to messages, clear information.
Characterful building with a great stair / landing
Comfortable bed
Location - walking distance from station but quiet and central
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bill&delle (7/5): Enjoyable but the weather was rain - Location is excellent Nothing except the poor weather
- Vivienne (10/5): Comfortable spacious apartment in a central location - Central location and comfortable apartment . Much more spacious than expected and warm ( it was particularly cold and wet for the season whilst we were in Salzburg). Not enough ordinary glasses for water etc or mugs. Shower head fixing was broken
- Sharon (9/5): Great experience staying in an original old stone building, great location - Lovely comfortable apartment in a fabulous quirky street and very old stone building , great location close to everything , comfy beds and well provided kitchen to cook your own meals if needed , lovely lady meeting us on booking in easy access as lift in building
- Mark (9/5): Wonderful trip. Would stay here again. - Great location, quiet, but easy walk to all the sites. Had everything we needed. Very comfortable.Prompt responses. Warm weather, but good cross ventilation kept it comfortable. Nothing
- Michael (10/5): Perfect location. Very comfortable. -
- J (8/5): A viable lodging option in Salzburg. - Proximity to Old Salzburg, grocery and a number of cafes/restaurants. Stair access to property was awkward and potentially dangerous for older folks.
- Donald (8/5): Very good - As others have said previously, the property is centrally located which made visiting Salzburg extremely easy.
There is a Spar in the "new town" (on the same side of the river) and a Billa supermarket across the river, both roughly equidistant from the property, the latter being the better in my opinion.
The kitchen was very well equipped and I also liked the fact that there was an old-fashioned CD-Radio player with which I was able to listen to a classical music station, which I am used to doing every morning.
It was also wonderful that there was a washer-tumble dryer in the store cupboard - although a previous reviewer said it took them days to figure out how to work it, since the instruction manual was in German, I simply went online and downloaded the same manual in English and it worked a treat! I did four washes in the seven days I was there!
The living room of my apartment (Top 1 it was called) actually looked out onto Steingasse street and the bedroom looked onto a set of steps I think going up to other properties on a higher street behind, so it was probably a little brighter than other units in the building, although it was still dark especially on less sunny days, but I suppose that can't be helped since the buildings on either side are quite high. It was also quiet at night, in my week there, in any case. As previous reviewers have said, I was met by a woman who was very nice but didn't have a word of English (I forgot to check if she spoke French, Italian or Spanish, all of which I am fluent in, but I suspect not), so anything other than the most basic communication with her was impossible. She indicated by mime that I should put the key in the post box in the foyer on the morning when I was leaving (at least I presumed that was what she was getting at) which I did. The email I received on the day before departure stated: "If you have set a check out time with our colleague at check-in already, she will come to you at the agreed upon time to collect the keys from you," which clearly was absurd since any such arrangement would have required verbal communication, and the hosts should bear this in mind in future. There was however a written out set of instructions in the apartment which clarified what I was supposed to do, so I suppose that wasn't so bad.
One of the walls in the bedroom was bare of plaster and had a quite damp looking stone wall exposed, which I first thought was just a "rustic" feature of the place, but I gradually realised was a sign that the place simply needed replastering. Since it was high summer it was not at all an issue, but in the winter months I would imagine it could get quite unpleasant. Hosts please take note!!!
Finally, as others have said, I had to sign an agreement when I arrived stating that in case of damages I would be liable for 460 euro (!!!!!) but at least I wasn't asked to hand over that amount in cash, so the bizarre and legally questionable arrangement complained about by previous reviewers of having to hand over 200 euro in cash seems to have been discontinued.
- Ladry (9/5): A lovely, historical flat in a beautiful regional capital. We experienced culture, nature and histor - The location is in the old city
- Davidson (9/5): Comfortable apartment in a super location - The location was excellent. In the old town and across the river from the castle and Mozart Square. Very conveniently located with only a 15-20 minute walk to the train station. The apartment is small but comfortable with sufficient basic amenities for 2 people to cook and eat. Nothing. We had no problems with the property.
- Ray (9/5): Superb - The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. The shower was great. Washing machine was so convenient. The location was perfect. Just a short walk across the pedestrian bridge to the old section. Steingasse leads to Linzergasse which is a very lively and fun area. Would definitely stay here again! We had to provide our own coffee pods. We accidentally bought the wrong ones and had to go to another store to buy the correct ones.
- Amy (9/5): Superb - Location is excellent, close to sights of Salzburg so I could walk everywhere. The flat is well equipped and comfortable.
