Guest Reviews
- Allison (10/5): Relaxing escape in perfect location - We don't want to go home. That says it all. The location is perfect, on a no through road allowing kids and dogs the freedom to run to the beach.
The house is cosy and welcoming, with plenty of space to spread out. One large double room, and one quad room on the secondbfloor, both with fabulous sea views. First floor is the other double bedroom, bathroom, lounge and seating area. Ground floor is kitchen, toilet, and dining room.
Facilities in kitchen suited us fine, large fridge, plenty of crockery and pans. We took our own coffee machine which was a great move. Basic but quite adequate, no laundry facilities but with a laundrette close by its understandable.
The tv, wifi were a great upgrade after reading some previous reviews. The window seats .I don't think we've ever sat in one spot for such a length of time. It was pure relaxation.
The garden is secure and sheltered. We did have to minesweep old dog deposits in the long grass, there was a good amount that had been previously missed by guests.
Bring you own binoculars
We're already planning to return next year, our new favourite holiday house when we're not caravanning. Thankyou One thing. Double bed on 1st floor is very uncomfortable being 2 single mattresses on one base. It slides and separates, moves around quite freely.

- George (2/5): Cambeltown, you can do much better! - Location Kitchen and facilities. Cooker hob and oven were poorly cleaned, all kitchen utensils were old, pots and pans were worn out. Kettle and microwave very cheap. Bedrooms were very basic. No WiFi. Smallest TV we have ever encountered. Shower mixer tap was either scalding hot or freezing cold. Only 4 dining chairs. Several light bulbs were out, which made for very poor light in a dark kitchen. We have stayed in hostels that provide much much better facilities and much cleaner
- Guest (8/5): Fab place and location - Nothing really thought it was a great place definitely go back
- Stark (8/5): - Location Kitchen basic and no washing machine
- Elaine (10/5): Had a fabulous time and no problems at all. Everything went smoothly - Where it was situated Stairs
- Samantha (7/5): Wonderfully quirky home with fantastic views - What can I say...the location was incredible.... waking up to the sea views, mountain views and the tranquility of being on a no through traffic lane was out of this world.
The beach to the immediate front of the property, while a bit shale-y, was perfect for a paddle, and we barely saw another person on it.
The house was extremely large, with airy and spacious rooms throughout, the split lounge area is a great idea, having a quiet section to look out to sea and the sofa area for family time.
The majority of the beds were extremely comfortable, cosy and we all had great sleeps.
As a location it's ideal, close to immaculate sandy beaches, crystal clear sea, hill walks and even the odd highland cow! The town centre is a short walk and there are two supermarkets within a 10 min walk from the house I have privately messaged the housekeeper with the minor issues we had ... Basically a repeat of what's already been said in previous reviews however I understand the property is due to be renovated and a new TV is being installed as soon as an aerial can be put up so I wouldn't let the defects put you off as it truly is a great house and what I did comment on in no way affected our stay.
- Brian (6/5): - The location was great right on a small beach The accommodation needs a good deep. Clean the garden was a mess the grass hadn't been cut weeds all over the patio it could be a beautiful house it has the worst tv in anywhere we have stayed before 1 room down stairs had a mattress on the floor a pile of blankets and towels in the corner and someone's clothes in the wardrobe
- Judith (10/5): - Amazing views and fab house to stay in. It was great. Just could have had a lock on bathroom door as seemed to be missing . That was all.
- lorna (4/5): - The location is fantastic. Beautiful views from the windows. We watched the Waverley paddle steamer arriving. Its within walking distance of the town centre so you can park the car and enjoy
The lovely lady on the phone was really helpful and polite. Allowed us in early because we had arrived during the storm on Monday. The house is huge Where do i start. When we got inside we did the usual exploring. Decided which bedrooms we wanted. Once all our bags were inside we sat down with a cuppa. Then you noticed the dust everywhere. The curtains hanging off the rails. The smashed front window. The overgrown garden. The bags of garden rubbish. The dirty glasses in the cupboard (I washed one just to check it wasn't dishwasher marks) the lack of shower matt. All these things really should be addressed and as the cleaning staff were finished so early they obviously weren't doing a proper job. As a housekeeper its difficult for me not to notice. We were there to spend time with friends from Campbeltown so I didn't really want to have cleaners brought back to sort it. Its not nice having someone go around criticising your work but I paid for a service and this was definitely not delivered. Its not the fault of the lady who we were in contact with but more so the owners who are using the building like a cash cow and not putting in the work required to bring it up to letting standards. BTW I don't think insurance would cover the use of candles so they need removing.
And the views would be better if the windows were cleaned
- Anke (7/5): - Schönes Haus mit interessanter Einrichtung , tolle Lage und Ausblick aufs Wasser Leider teilweise nicht sauber und etwas vernachlässigt - schade für so ein schönes Haus!
- Emily (8/5): Charming home that we were sad to leave! - This house was a house that makes you sad to leave. Old and full of charm, ocean bay views, spacious. It's quirky for sure. The beds were very comfortable. There were big giant chairs with a telescope. Our kids loved having a third level all to themselves. You can easily walk to the distilleries and grocery stores. The tv had an old-fashioned antenna and we could only get three BBC stations. Because we had kids, we would have really appreciated cable tv or at least more stations that worked. Otherwise, our stay was really wonderful.
- Roderick (9/5): Good facilities and location. - Great off street parking and easy walk to the supermarket and the town. Great views. House numbers were duplicated but the name of the house was easy to see.
- Amy (3/5): Very disappointed on arrival, after very long drive for our family holiday. Housekeeper did as much - The location and the host(housekeeper) was super helpful. The state of rhe property on arrival. Garden unusable, broken furniture, dining room (with garden table?) doesn't accommodate more than 4? Broken blinds, couldn't open or close in bedroom...tiny tv with manual arial....not fit for for purpose in such a large living room. Missing light bulbs, Dirty kitchen cupboards/utensils.
- Dennis (10/5): Fantastic stay. Beatiful view from the house - The Location was fabulous. There was a lovely enclosed garden as well. Campbeltown city 5 minutes walk
- David (8/5): A great place to stay - Location was superb, on a road with no through traffic right on the loch shore. It was a 5 minute walk to shops, pubs, restaurants and a distillery! Beds were comfortable, the bathroom good, and the view from the living room window was brilliant. The small garden was a suntrap, with a couple of old loungers, but the brambles and grass badly need trimming.
Internet failed soon after we arrived. A message required action from the account holder before it could be restored. We passed this on to the housekeeper. It was not such a problem as phone signal was strong and we were out most of the time.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Margaret (10/5): Lovely Campbelltown - The house The view The location..The shops..The people NA
- Orla (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Jill (9/5): Autumn holiday to Campbeltown - The house was spacious, well equipped and well heated. We loved the quirky decor and amazing views. It was so close to town where we could access supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, distillery, swimming pool, soft play and cinema on foot. It was great that we had a driveway for the car and we took advantage of nice autumn weather and ventured to Machrahanish beach, Torrisdale Estate and Saddell Castle.
- Mike (10/5): Relax in the egg chairs and soak up the scenery - Absolutely brilliant house. The views are fantastic. We loved the quirky & whacky decorations especially the moose, the sheep, the alligator and the red thrones.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Janet (9/5): A great place for our needs, relaxing, and central to everywhere. - very relaxing and beautiful; location
- John (10/5): If we ever need - We did our own breakfast The location was fantastic sat at night just looking at the harbour lights etc and had a great time thanks The garden area was a little scruffy however due to the weather it was quite acceptable
- Kathleen (9/5): Superb -
- Gillian (8/5): Had a fabulous stay and looking forward to returning - Beautiful house with fabulous views , and great central location . Dog safe garden . Fabulous space for everyone to relax and enjoy The dining table wasn’t big enough for us all to sit round . The beds weren’t the most comfortable . The bath/shower was a bit difficult and we needed to get a non slip mat. Garden furniture would have been nice.
- Tom (8/5): Great Beachside Property - The location is great. Its right on the small beach and only a 10 minute walk into town. The property was quirky and had everything we needed. Maybe an information folder would be useful and there was no wifi.
- Tomasz (8/5): Very good -
- Nick (10/5): We all just loved the house, spacious, clean and in a great location. - Amazing house in the perfect location.
- Leonard (10/5): Great location - The location was perfect for our stay the house was well equipped Nothing
- Duncan (10/5): House was in a great location, very clean and tidy, everything worked as it should. - Great location, very clean and tidy.
- Isobel (8/5): We enjoyed our stay very much but were glad it was for three nights and not for a longer period. We loved the location - Lovely house in a beautiful and convenient location. Fabulous views over the water from most rooms. Very warm, cosy and clean.
Garden, although rather overgrown, was perfect for our small dog. Shower was a challenge as the shower head didn’t fit into the bracket. Not a pleasant experience as the head kept coming out.
The bed on the first floor was interesting. It was very large for the room making access from one side almost impossible. It also had two single mattresses on top of a super king one underneath it. It was not very comfortable.
Kitchen didn’t work too well for a family. It lacked work surface and had a lot of dishes but was very muddly and difficult to find what was needed. Some common items such as a potato peeler missing.
No laundry facilities available to us . No dishwasher or WiFi.
