- Alex (10/5): Exquisite onsen ryokan experience for an excellent price. - Exceptional stay at Ginsyou! Check-in was super easy; they have multilingual front desk staff who speak Japanese, English, and Chinese (among others). They offered us a one-use welcome drink voucher for two glasses of Japanese tea in the lounge. If you want to go to the Saraku Sand Bath next door, you can buy vouchers from the front desk that they will charge to your room - no cash needed!
The beautiful Japanese-style room had the most magnificent view of Kagoshima Bay. I could not believe how nice it was. (Book an ocean-facing room if you can.) You can enjoy a shower and bath with the same view. They had all the amenities plus complimentary skincare products!
I HIGHLY recommend booking dinner and breakfast. They're delicious, and there are not that many options for food nearby. We arrived at the dining space at 6:30 PM to find a full spread of fresh food. Our server, Gen, provided descriptions of the courses and instructions on how to eat certain dishes. It was a multi-course meal and there was so much food we almost couldn't finish it all! Very delicious and fresh, and included not only sashimi but also local specialties like satsuma-age and kurobuta. Breakfast was less hefty but equally varied, fresh, and delicious. Amazing value for the price.
During dinner, the staff will make your beds. The floor futons were so soft and comfortable. I took the opportunity that night to hit the onsen. They have two onsen - one public bath on the 2nd floor, and one rotenburo (open-air bath) on the 9th floor. Both were excellent, but I especially loved the rotenburo at night and in the early morning. Bathing under the moonlight in near pitch darkness, or taking a shower while taking in the breathtaking daytime views, are memories I'll never forget.
Don't miss the chance to have an authentic, relaxing, premium ryokan experience at Ginsyou - for a great price!
- Linda (10/5): Our visit in Kagoshima was magical. - Beautiful hotel that conveyed the essence of the culture and the layout of the room was perfect.
Staff was amazing and hospitable.
We selected the breakfast to be included and it exceeded our expectations. It made our experience!
- Geraldine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shozo (8/5): Very good -
- Wing (10/5): Exceptional -
- Koki (9/5): Superb - everything futon
- Kyna (10/5): best ryokan experience - amazing place with everything you need in the property nothing
- Elaine (9/5): Excellent stay with unforgettable open air bath, but reserve the dinner in advance! - Super friendly staff who heroically interpreted our scruffy Japanese, open air bath is a must experience, comfy room, located right next to sand baths, walkable from train station As we were forewarned there is nowhere to get dinner in the area, only late night bars, and the hotel dinner books up fast, probably wouldn’t want to walk to train station after dark
- Yann (9/5): Superb - The personnel is kind and helpfull, the food is awesome. The room is big and the room outstanding.
- Joseph (10/5): Excellent baths and view. - Unbeatable view from the outdoor baths or room windows There weren’t many restaurants close-by, so reserve food at hotel.
- Mark (10/5): An excellent place to stay in Ibusuki - Our stay here definitely exceeded expectations, with this ryokan rating as our best stay in Kyushu over the 10 days we visited. Staff were very helpful on check in and departure. Parking worked nicely. Dinner was outstanding and the staff who helped explain the kaiseki meal to us were fantastic. Our room had views looking out to sea, which was special. The onsen was nice too. All in all a great stay!
- Shoon (8/5): Very good -
- Hk (8/5): Very good -
- Diana (9/5): overall it is a wonderful stay. - the hotel is facing the water. Service is excellent, the breakfast is elaborate & tasty. the open air onsen is rather small & the onsen water is not really that hot.
- Wai (9/5): Superb - though distant to JR station, its location is scenic.
dinner sumptuous
staff helpful, though can’t expect them to speak good English
sand bath is immediately next to it
- Eric (8/5): It's far better than we expected. it has the touch of a private ryokan and good value for money. - The dinner and breakfast are very well organised and we get a special room to ourselves. Plus the food are great value.
