• Pierre (10/5): A wonderful and relaxing stay in Takayama with a perfect location and a very welcoming host. - We had a great stay at Daihaichi in Takayama. The accommodation was very nice, comfortable, and full of charm. The location was excellent, making it very easy to explore the city and nearby attractions. The host was also extremely helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Takayama. Nothing.

• Helen (9/5): Great location for our 2 night stay in Takayama - Lovely apartment. There are steep narrow stairs from ground floor where the bathroom is, but we found them manageable. Lovely big space upstairs was very welcoming to come home to. Comfortable beds and kitchen for us was great but only used for breakfasts.

• Melanie (10/5): An unmissable experience - Daihachi is stunning - a modern take on a traditional Japanese home - and right in the centre of the old town so you can come and go easily on foot. Wake up to the sound only tumbling water in the river across the road. Nothing - everything was perfect
• Elaine (10/5): Convenient location with parking for Takayama - The location was perfect. We enjoyed walking around town and going to the morning market during our stay. We rented a car and needed a place with a parking spot. Daihachi provided directions to a parking spot a couple minutes away and it was much appreciated. We didn't realize this was not a hotel and it was a rental for the whole house. It was still a positive experience and we'd recommend staying here.

Tutto pulitissimo, letti comodissimi e possibilità di stendere i Futon sul Tatami. Il Kotatsu perfettamente funzionante ha reso il nostro soggiorno speciale. L’host, anche se non ci siamo visti, è stato estremamente disponibile e ci ha permesso di tenere lì i bagagli per qualche ora prima della partenza. Speriamo di tornare un giorno! 🇬🇧 The house is beautiful, fully equipped with every comfort, and conveys a true sense of Japanese authenticity. Everything was spotless, the beds were extremely comfortable, and there was the option to lay out futons on the tatami. The kotatsu worked perfectly and made our stay truly special. Even though we didn’t meet in person, the host was extremely helpful and allowed us to leave our luggage there for a few hours before departure. We hope to come back one day! 🇮🇹 Unica pecca, su cui si può soprassedere, è che la casa è un po fredda, soprattutto al piano di sotto. Sono presenti molte stufe elettriche per riscaldare l’ambiente ma nel corso della notte chiaramente raffredda. 🇬🇧 The only minor drawback, which is easy to overlook, is that the house can be a bit cold, especially on the ground floor. There are several electric heaters available to warm the space, but naturally it cools down again overnight.
• Grietje (10/5): Excellent apartment in the city centre of Takayama - Daihachi is a convenient, modern apartment at an excellent location. Located in the city centre, but away from the crowds. Close to independent coffee shops and excellent restaurants and only 15 minutes walk from the station.
• Christopher (9/5): Perfectly located apartment - Fanastic location right on the edge of old town. Beautifully presented apartment with traditional touches and all necessary mod cons. Super comfortable beds. Western legs would have liked a chair 😀
• Heike Cosmea (9/5): - Zentrale Lage. Sehr sauber. Heizung in jedem Raum. Das schöne runde Fenster und die Sitzgruppe davor machen es gemütlich. Im Eingangsbereich wären ein paar Garderobenhaken schön. Und eine Tür oder Vorhang zwischen Waschbecken und Eingangsbereich wäre schön. Ansonsten alles bestens.

Bathroom on the first floor, and a living area with kitchenette, two sleeping sections (2 twin beds plus tatami area) and heated low dining table on the second floor! The view from the big round window is picture perfect! It was perfect!

Es lo mas reseñable de la estancia Tiene Bastantes fallos pero el mas importante es que el baño esta en la parte de abajo del apartamento y da directamente a la puerta de la calle. Con lo que hace un frio tremendo en el baño. Adicionalmente las toallas de la ducha tenian unos pelos muy largos antes de usarlas de antiguos huéspedes.

• Marion (10/5): Genial, pero deja pasar mucha luz - Es amplio de dos pisos, en el primero baño, y en el segundo cocina, salón y dormitorio, muy bien organizado con tatami y las camas super cómodas Si tienes problemas de dormir con luz, no es el mejor lugar, las estolas y ventanas dejan pasar mucha luz del exterior. Me faltaban unas zapatillas de estar por casa, que dan en casi todos los alojamientos de Japón, ya que el suelo está bastante frío y sería mas agradable

• Felicity (8/5): A gem of an apartment... I wish we could have stayed longer. - This is a gem of an apartment in Takayama, where sadly we only had one night. Beautiful decor, comfortable living space, bedroom and kitchen upstairs, with bathroom facilities on the ground floor. We met the host as we were checking out, who was very friendly. Close to the temple, shops and restaurants, and within 5 minutes of the morning market. A great place to stay on our tour of the Alps.

• Jacquie (10/5): We loved staying at this unique apartment. - We loved the location in the historic section of Takayama. It was easy to walk around and find restaurants and shops and the morning market. Its about 15 mins to the train/bus station by foot. The stairs are steep up to the main floor (bathroom and entry downstairs). The main floor has the lovely moon window as well as windows that open to the sound of the stream for fresh air. Check in was easy and communication was great. Something to wipe up the dishes, tea towel would have been handy.

There is everything you want for cooking. if I go to Takayama, I will stay here again for sure. It would be great if there is a small mirror in the 2nd floor.

Not many close by restaurants - we recommend that you make a booking for the amazing restaurant across the road well before you arrive called Kyoya.

Some really good places to eat nearby - Kyoya (must book), Ajidokoro Sansha (Izakaya) and Dekonaru Yokocho (a group of eating/drinking establishments). Also Ondo for awesome morning coffee. A little bit of outside traffic noise - but definitely quiet once it’s bedtime.

We wanted a home feel for a few nights in the middle of a busy 3 week tour of Japan, just to relax and cook ourselves at home, and this was perfect. Walking distance to the old town, retro museums and train station, it was quiet and absolute bliss and the apartment itself was high end, with all fittings and furnishings absolute faultless. Would return and would highly recommend.

It’s two levels so if you can’t do stairs, it’s not a good option as bathroom is downstairs. Loved the poem and artwork on walls. Very beautiful And thoughtful ❤️ Not a dislike, but minor suggestions. Teabags coffee etc would be good. Also maybe a normal chair for those who are not comfy in the low traditional chairs. Otherwise it’s perfect. ❤️

• Ira (9/5): Immaculate home in the heart of historic Takayama - This beautifully presented Japanese-style house is perfectly located in the heart of the historic part of Takayama. It is about 20-minute walk from Takayama station. While we enjoyed the walk, it is something to keep in mind if you prefer closer proximity to the station. The host was incredibly helpful and welcoming, and communication was smooth throughout our stay. We arrived late on Christmas Day, and finding a thoughtful Christmas gift filled with Japanese goodies made the experience even more special. The home itself is spacious, immaculate, and well-maintained. The kitchen is also well-equipped, though we didn’t cook during our stay. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we would highly recommend this charming home. The toilet is located downstairs, while the living and sleeping areas are upstairs, so it could be challenging for those with mobility issues due to the narrow steps. Also, the motion-sensor heater in the toilet and shower area takes some time to warm up. Despite these, we had a wonderful stay.

The accommodation is like a small apartment on two floors, is newly renovated, and has everything you need. Best of all, it has the most comfortable, cozy beds I've ever slept in! The host is also very friendly and welcoming.
