Guest Reviews

- Kenneth J (7/5): Fun Trip, saw the Pope but residence not up to par - Francesco was great, when the was an issue, he took care of it. The location had easy access to Rome's public transportation system. That made getting around Rome & the trip to Pompeii pretty easy. The neighborhood restaurants we pretty good. We visited 2 of the more than once. The burger place (American 'ish) style and a pizza place. Birretta Wine & Food Hamburgeria and Pizza Lu were around the corner, and the staff at both places remembered us. The advert said there was a lift available. Yes, but it did NOT go down to the basement where the apt is. One of us was 85+ years old & uses a cane. That was issue #1. Issue two (2) the A/C only covered to main room & kitchen. The bedroom was very hot & only had a fan. The kitchen had 15-20 shot glasses, one coffee cup, and no wine glasses. Yes, we drank wine from water glasses, but expected more from the advert. The "court yard" either didn't make it through the summer or was removed years ago. Italian architecture is tough & not handicapped friendly. The step up to the apt front door is twice the normal step rise. I had to lift our friend up to the front door, landing every time we left. The shower hand-held holders were broken, so I did some bush style fixes so we could shower easily. The property strikes me as a work in process. As a landlord for 40 years, I know what should be available vs. what's an inconvenience. For us, it was more of a camping trip vs. a working residence stay. For travelers in and to America, picture the advert (a Holiday Inn) vs. reality a Motel 6 or less.
- John (10/5): - Proximity to places. Close to Bus stop. The place was very clean. The owner was very helpful and reliable.

- Juan (10/5): Staying at DGVatican made our Experience in Italy buonissima - Amazing property, great and very kind management, I’m looking forward to comeback here and also spread the word about this property with my friends!
- Ioana (10/5): Awesome - I don’t understand why a lot of people are complaining in the reviews, I enjoyed my stay, the place is clean, it’s pretty cold without even putting the AC on, confortable, also very close to Vatican, 13 minutes walking, close to Castel Sant Angelo, and it’s not far from the center of Rome either. The host is very nice, and if you have any issue he’ll be there to help you. Overall for me it was a good experience, and I’m sure that if I will ever come back in Rome I will book this apartment. A little difficult to find parking, but it wasn’t a big problem, you can pay 4 euros for 8 hours, not a big deal
- Nelson (10/5): It was a lovely stay - Location was so central. You can access any part of the city. So spacious for even a group of friends. Neat and nice aesthetics
- Nadja (10/5): Exceptional - This was our first time in Rome and we were just amazed about this stylish apartment, the interior and the location were fantastic and he even gave us breakfast cards for Tony's Bar, very much recommended!
- Charlton (8/5): Very good -
- Rachael (4/5): You get what you pay for... - Cheap, coffee and croissant included at cafe down the street, location was pretty good. It was secure. The bidet was broken. The entire unit was very dark and dank and smelled of mildew. It was very cold and the heater was in the loft, so the heat stayed up there and didn't warm the apartment. Some things were very dirty and dusty. The freezer was disgusting. One bed didn't have sheets on it and there were not enough extra blankets. The bathroom sink and shower faucets were not actually attached, but had been placed in such a way as they looked stable until you touched them; same with the towel rack in the kitchen which is apparently just for decoration. The shelves in the smaller bathroom fall over when you touch them. Everyone either tripped or smashed their feet on the awkward stairs. The loft is only 5ft high and I banged my head on the metal beams a few times.
And finally, the cleaner came in while we were gone and left the door unlocked, and then tried to rush us out 30 minutes before check out.
We understand it was cheap, but the listing should have been a more accurate representation of what was delivered.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - The location is perfect
- Kurt (6/5): Basic apartment to sleep and freshen up when visiting beautiful Rome! - "Great location in a peaceful area with authentic Italian dining options"
The accommodation is situated in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of charming "real Italian" restaurants that aren't geared towards tourists. Because of this, we never felt the need to dine in the city center. The location is quite close to Vatican City and around 4 km from Trastevere. We explored almost the entire city without needing to use buses, metro, or trams. Perfect for those who enjoy walking and discovering hidden gems along the way. "Could use some clarity and improvements"
The apartment's description is somewhat misleading, which has led to frustrations for previous travelers. The host should clarify in the listing that there is 1 bedroom and 1 mezzanine. This would help manage expectations for future guests. Additionally, the bed on the mezzanine is a kind of sofa bed, as is the one in the small living room, so don't expect the comfort of a regular bed. There are 2 bathrooms, but the showers are not well-installed, requiring extra caution while using them. The kitchen is small but equipped with everything you need for cooking, although we didn’t use it during our stay.
- Sandra (10/5): Amazing host - Exelent location and beautifully decorated
- Katharina (1/5): Awful and disgusting. We wanted to leave immediately. - The location Please also read carefully all the other negative reviews for that apartment, as they reflect our experience very well. We were really disappointed. The following review is as objectively as possible and describes the condition of the apartment.
- the whole interior (furniture, towels, pillows/blankets, etc.) is in a scaring bad condition. I mean really, really bad. You will not feel comfortable at all using sofas or anything else. Almost anything seems like being picked from the street - this is not an exaggeration
- the mattress, pillows and blankets are so old and used that they are brown and full of stains. It was awful to sleep every night on pillows where hundreds of people have left their body fluids. Even with fresh covers.
- the apartment is not clean at all. It was cleaned "on the surface", sure. But there are dirt and stains literally everywhere. On the walls, on the surfaces, in the bathroom, on the towels. Our towels got dirty after drying them at the radiator in the bathroom!
- especially the bedroom smells moldy. Mold can be found in the bedroom and in the bathrooms. We really wanted to sleep somewhere else If we would have the option.
- after returning back home, we noticed that our stuff (suitcase, bags, etc.) smell moldy. How shall you wash a suitcase to get rid of this smell?!
- the toilet flush in the bathroom of the bedroom was dripping all the time! This was so fu***** annoying and disturbing. It was not possible to sleep without earplugs!
- the Wi-Fi is very poor. You can’t use it at all (unless you have time to…).
- the "Italian breakfast" is a coffee or tea and a small cornetto. This is far away from what I call breakfast. The description here is very misleading.
Overall, for the really poor condition of the apartment, the price (133,20€ per night, including tax) is shockingly inappropriate.
- Daniel (1/5): Awful, we do not recommend it to anyone - The street around the apartment was quiet. I would like to file a complaint regarding the "DGVatican" accommodation during our stay in Rome due to breach of contract or faulty performance. The accommodation was shockingly in poor condition and dirty. The dirt appeared in all forms practically in every corner of the accommodation, I would like to attach pictures of this as well. The smell of gas (!!!) was leaking from the pipe in the living room and there was not enough air in the rooms even if the windows were wide open all day. The bed linen and towels here also give an undemanding and used impression, one of the pillowcases was specifically stained with blood. Upon check-in, it took us an hour to reach the host as he did not provide enough information upon arrival at the property. Originally, the advertised price for the accommodation should have included breakfast every day in a nearby cafe, but when we got there the first morning, we were told that there is no breakfast here, we will not get anything, and the owner of the restaurant doesn't even know who the host we came from is, so During our stay, we were not able to have breakfast even once, even though we paid for it in advance. The wifi at the accommodation is completely unusable, practically it would be better if it didn't exist. As evidence, I would like to attach a few pictures that we took at the apartment
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Stayed with 2 friends loved the accommodation, the host was amazing so helpful full of knowledge would definitely recommend and stay again metro was a short walk and there were lots of good value restaurants in the area
