Guest Reviews
- Sandrine (10/5): Wonderful cliffside studio in Uluwatu - Location location location. Best view in uliwatu! Comms with the host or staff was not the best. Delays and/or unresponsive.
Also the path to the property is hidden and hard to find when unfamiliar with the area. Instructions in the booking confirmation as to where to park and where to go would be good. I was offered help to carry our luggage down but then no one showed up so we had to find the entrance of the property by ourselves.
- ilyass (10/5): Magnifique - All est parfait Rien
- Kim (3/5): - Room was not clean she said refund money however not received yet
- Charlotte (8/5): - Amazing views! Stairs were a given but worth the walk. If you aren’t a fan of nature maybe not the place for you! A few ants and bugs as can be expected. Cigarette smell in room / mattress.
- Will (10/5): -
- Tereza (10/5): Amazing property, we will be back. - Everything was amazing. Even better than on the pictures. Super clean, with thoughtful amenities like mosquito spray, torch and mini fridge. You have to climb down the stairs but that’s clearly stated in the description and it’s not that bad at all. If you want this amazing view, you have to put some steps in!
You can order deliveries or cab / bike that come to the Anantara spa entrance location which will take you 7 minutes up and down from the property (we timed it! :-D). All the nice restaurants and shops are about 15 minutes on foot. Beach is hardly a minute walk down the stairs. Host is super responsive and helpful. They even let us check-in early which was so nice. We loved everything.
- Ciel (10/5): -
- Sonali (8/5): - The property is located on a cliff below the famous Anantara resort and the view from the room is just breathtaking. We could see the sunset from our room and did not have to go anywhere to enjoy the same. The bathroom and the bedroom are also quite well maintained and the room has all basic facilities such as a water dispenser, mosquito spray and torch light (as you must take a few stairs to reach your room and there are no street lights at night). We were in awe of the view and felt comfortable in our room. The staff who carried our luggage was quite helpful and patient. I felt that the staff managing the property was a bit dismissive. She was not present at the property. I had informed her about my arrival time in advance but she did not pick up my phone when we had arrived. We had to wait near the Anantara resort for 10-15 minutes before the ground staff came to help us with our luggage.
Also, about our queries w.r.t. hiring a scooter, she laid down too many conditions (scooter could be hired minimum for 2 days only but we were staying only 1 night) and the price was also very expensive. When I voiced my opinion to the manager, she hung up immediately and just shared the contact of the guy actually lending the scooters and texted me to talk directly with him. I had also informed her about requirement of a scooter 2 hours before arrival but no arrangements were made. As it was my birthday and we did not have much time before our reservation at a very famous restaurant, we decided against hiring a scooter using the managers contact as we did not want to risk losing our spot at the restaurant. In any case our entire nights grab bookings (from hotel to restaurant to the club and back ) costed us less than the hire charge for the scooter so we dodged a bullet there !
Lastly, I had asked for a few coffee sachets to be kept in the room but what we found was chicory coffee which needs to be filtered but there was no filter in sight !
- Danielle (10/5): Beautiful spot I am so happy I got to experience it - Everything about it Walking past the work sites alone at night
- Joao Victor (10/5): -
- Vivek (9/5): Best view in Uluwatu - Location is right over the water on a cliff so doesn’t get better than that. The facilities were clean and we had everything we needed. Accessibility due to the location is limited. You need to climb down the cliff on a narrow alley but this is part of the adventure and fun - takes about 5 mins and if you have luggage, they offer a porter.
- Scott G (7/5): - Could not imagine a better view
- Julian (10/5): What a view, great location! -
- André (9/5): The value of the room is totally the view! -
- Ferris (9/5): Unique little studio with the best views - Super unique and beautifully designed tiny home with a stunning ocean view. The “cave-like” bathroom is especially cool and definitely a standout. The bedroom felt a little awkward since it was small with no proper table, but you can tell they put effort into making it cozy. That said, the main reason to stay here is the view, and it really is breathtaking. Communication was smooth and check-in was easy. they even sent photos to help find the place, which was helpful. just don’t expect full-on luxury; some parts of the space felt a little simple or budget for the price. Perfect for a short getaway, but might not be the most comfortable choice for a longer stay. and yes, there are lots of stairs, but I kinda think that's the charm for staying in a unique place like this.
- Edwards (10/5): We had the most amazing stay in Ulunia!! 5 STARS!! - The VIEW was incredible!!! If you are in decent shape, the steps really are not that bad at all, the view is absolutely worth it, and the privacy and location are A++. You're a 2 minute walk to the beach and less than a 5 minute scooter ride to restaurants and shopping. The host was very responsive, and helped us arrange a scooter and transportation to the airport, etc. She also helped arrange some of her staff to help with our bags when we arrived, which was beyond helpful, they were awesome! Side note, the monkeys provide excellent entertainment, but make sure to keep your valuables locked inside or they will take it! We cannot recommend Ulunia enough, and cannot wait to go back!!
Candy & David-Charleston, SC USA nothing
- Haydn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wahyuni (10/5): Trusted staff - They keep our left airpod! That's how I know that the staffs are trusted and honest. Bathroom door no knob, no hot water for bathub even though there's a tap for it. The rest is worth the price
- Nur (10/5): Exceptional - First of all, exceptional staff!! The climb up and down is steep, and I couldn’t carry my own carry-on luggage. They offer porter service to and fro (there are payment to be made to the staff to carry your luggages) but please tip generously as the staff had to carry heavy luggage through the steep steps. Whenever I needed help, the staff on WhatsApp is readily available to help + replies fast!
Secondly, the view is amazing and so worth the climb. If you’re staying indoors, in the morning it does feel a tiny bit hot in the room but of course nothing much to complain about because THE VIEW IS AMAZING!! The hot water in the bathroom is great too.
Thirdly, the beach is just 1 min climb down from the place and it’s quiet and feels private. You can just swim in the ocean and bask in the sun all afternoon. There is also a warung downstairs, you can lounge there and get some food and drinks too. A lot of surfers come down here to surf, if you’re interested in that, this could be your place!
Lastly, I highly recommend this place for the amazing view, easily accessible beach and amazing service by all the staff!!
10/10! If you don’t like to be one with nature, this is not the place for you. There will be bugs, occasionally monkeys and all that sorts but the view is so worth it.
Another aspect is the cliff, it’s a fast climb up and down but it’s steep, do carry light with you although they have staff to carry luggages but preferably light. At night it’s super dark, there are a few lights on several steps, but you need to be physically fit or that sort to climb up and down.
- Catalina (10/5): Absolutely beautiful stay in Uluwatu, away from the caos and over of the ocean. - Breathtaking views from all the room. Close to the beach and to the Uluwatu Main Street. Nothing!!!
- Kyu (1/5): Bad -
- 尚容 (7/5): Will definitely visit back! - The view is amazing! And the staff is very supportive, respond very quickly and very nice to help with everything. I had good time here at Uluwatu enjoying the sea view. Since it is close to sea side, the location need to cross the small dark path (but still with light and rope). Monkeys bit scary but just be cautious is fine.
- Scott (8/5): A room with a fantastic ocean view - The ocean view Aircon was leaking
- Deonna (10/5): Ulunia lived up to every expectation I had, it was truly a beautiful stay, the room was modern, chic and absolutely stun - Awesome views, beautiful room
- Farbod (9/5): Superb - Balcony overlooking the ocean, fantastic and helpful staff, great cleaning service, strong AC in room A lot of steps to get down to the room, but that's how Uluwatu is if you want to have an ocean view accommodation
- Alyssa (7/5): Good - The view was incredible. You can watch surfers and go down to the beach during low tides. The location is remote and quiet. The room is well designed Overall didn’t feel clean. The sheets and the bathroom were clean, but the drapes were disgustingly and overall cleanliness wasn’t the best. I just kept thinking the whole time how someone needed to steam and clean the drapes.
- Ricardo (9/5): Superb - The views are breathtaking, and only a short scooter ride from the main road It is difficult to find when dropped off by the taxi as there is not a single sign indicating where exactly the hotel is located so it's a bi confusing. We had to walk down a narrow path and find someone who could confirm we were in the right place
- Gerda (10/5): If its rainy is not so confortable. But still the view pays by its self. I book it for more days cos it was amaizing - The view was fantastic!
- Alshahrani (1/5): Bad - Not clean we found mouse !
- Rebekah (7/5): Stairs are no joke - he view is incredible, lovely styling and vibe. Very relaxing
The stairs are ridiculous, and the staff had someone help with luggage, it would have been impossible otherwise. I ended up cancelling our affitonal nights as we couldn't keep doing the stairs, and they were very accommodating. The stairs!!!! I am good with stairs and am not impaired in any way. I walk a mountain everyday with a weighted vest at home.
These stairs are ridulously steep and high, slippery and dark, and there are a lot. You will struggle with luggage. No kitchen so u can't grab supplies and stay in villa which would have been an option. It's quite a big walk to any shop as well. It's not a very big space , very compact
Make sure you get back before dark
Be prepared ! Don't think you can pop in and out.
Water is labelled the wrong way, so I ended up with a cold shower (a sign would have helped), but after the stairs, it didn't seem too bad 😂
- Siri (10/5): Just wonderful ! - It was a gorgeous place and I did like every inch in it 😍 Monkeys, but this is all about nature and they have been there for long time, before I came 🙃
- Brandon (10/5): Short sweet - Location Lots of stairs 😂
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rheana (10/5): Exceptional - The views from the room were unmatched, the host was very responsive and would attend to any matters or questions you had. Location was great, close to restaurants etc I was only scared of the monkeys but we were lucky to not see any during our stay haha. Aircon had to be on 24/7 to keep the room cool we found 😊
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marriott (10/5): Watching sunset ocean views from an amazing apartment! - When I stepped foot in this property it exceeded all my expectations. The views are incredible! Waking up every morning to the ocean views and being able to walk down to the beach within 5 minutes was amazing. The host and their team were so friendly and always responded quickly to any questions I had. The bed was very comfortable and the property was clean and had everything you need. Wifi connection was also good! Once you climb the stairs to main road it is easy to order local driver services into town. Overall I would recommend this! The stairs were difficult to climb, but it's 100% worth it for the views!
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional - This place was breathtaking! The view was absolutely stunning and you had the best spot to watch the sunset. You could sit on the balcony and watch the surfers all day. The decor was lovely and we loved the cheeky monkeys that paid us a visit. We would definitely stay here again! The stairs were a bit scary but it's worth it for that view!
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Rylee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (10/5): Amazing views - Location - location - location: just wow.
Bring snacks and drinks to enjoy the sunset on your amazing terrace.
Speed of replying to requests and questions is great, they will do everything to make you feel at home. Nothing.
- Jessica (10/5): Amazing owner/ manager. Clean, picturesque views, a tranquil abode - Where do I start. There were NO negatives! The owner / manager is so kind and helpful. The place is absolutely incredible - perfect size, picturesque views from the outdoor area and from all the glass windows. Unreal. Well taken care of and so were we. Absolutely nothing
- Adelaide (9/5): Stunning views, the perfect way to enjoy Uluwatu. - Amazing views. Comfortable with air con. Great that there was filtered water too. The door to the room didn’t lock properly but it was ok because the gate to the villa closed and locked properly.
- Marc (10/5): Perfect stay. - Purni who's in charge was extremely professional, friendly, helpful, welcoming and welcomed me late on my arrival. She also organized my transfer and provided helpers to carry my luggage down the stairs.
Last but not least she sorted out my bike rental. An armchair or a sun bed could be a plus on the terrasse.
- Julian (10/5): great room, great view, great beaches, great surf and unforgettable sunset. - incredible view and location
cleanliness of room
friendly staff
beaches and surf access
good wifi difficult to get a meal on the cliff without climbing the stairs to scooter.
- Aled (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iwan (7/5): Good -
- Tess (10/5): Exceptional - Ulunia is a beautiful property that is easily accessed by stairs which reveal a gorgeous view of the ocean. The room was clean and fitted with everything we required. The staff were also very friendly and happy to accomodate to our needs.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location with super friendly and helpful staff
- Anastasiia (7/5): Cozy and clean, but with toilet in the bedroom - 1. The place is cozy and CLEAN (which is very rare for balinese villas).
2. The location is good, next to the main road and beaches.
3. Amazing view.
4. Italian style small cozy yard with the view.
5. Staff always online and helpful. 1. The toilet is actually in the bedroom. No door between bedroom and bathroom. The wall between is low. You can't see over it, but you can hear everything. When someone wants to use toilet, another person has to go out from the bedroom.
2. Water pressure in the shower is very low.
3. The pictures and actual villa don't look the same. Also there are 2 villas on the photos, so when you book your villa, you don't know which one.
4. The sofa is dirty, with a lot of stains on it, so we didn't use it.
5. All 4 pillows are too thick, so I didn't use any for sleeping.
- Saskia (10/5): Perfect seaside location - Beautiful view. Easy access to the beach. A bit of a walk to the main road, but the remote location makes you feel like you're on holiday. Lots of bugs, but that's nature.
- Pei (2/5): Uluwatu fail to stay Ulunia Marxch 2024 - View was great
Porters great help in carrying our luggage.
Quite fast response from owner or managing ppl through whatapps. My friend and I arrived at around 3pm that day. It was a HOT HOT day and we had to take a very steep flight of stairs down the the place. I knew there is stairs but didnt know it was that steep.
When arrived it was so Hot. Direct 🌞🌞 into the place. Even when I on the AC in turbo mode its not even cold. Very uncomfortable for us. I took a shower hoping to cool down but instead i found out we have salty shower water and also salty water from the sink. Didnt feel very clean after shower.
There is also many ants on the table. But probably hard to avoid because we are staying under the cliff very near sea.
Tried my best to stay for 3 hours. At last we decided to checkout as was developing a migraine due to the heat.
The manager was quick to respond to my request to checkout and sent porter to get our luggage.
Its just my personal feeling. Probably not suitable for ppl that cannot tolerate heat and salty water? 🤔
- W (8/5): Very good - Lovely beach below and sunset view! Bring mosquito coils if you're susceptible to bites! There is construction currently going on just below the rooms so it affects privacy as the workers can see into the terrace/outdoor area from below. Also the guests in the room upstairs were flying a drone that could also look right into our terrace/sofa area, in the early morning hours when we would have appreciated the privacy. Not the fault of the owners of course, but just to share our experience.
- Marta (10/5): A special, magical place with the most beautiful sunset view in Uluwatu! - What an absolute gem - it's so rare when you come across a place that looks and feels so special, you almost don't want to tell anyone, to keep it a secret.
Ulunia apartments is this place!!
Please know that it is down the stairs, but please don't book and the complain about that.
It's such a special and unique location - to wake up with that view, to sit in the lounge with that view - breath taking !
For your comfort - there is a fridge, so if you want, you can take food with you, and you won't have to make the trip up&down.
The best sunset view in Uluwatu!!
- Fercook10 (2/5): Very poor - The host send a message after i've booked warning about a "construction from the neighbor" what they failed to explain is that the construction was just a couple of meters in front of the room and workers could literally see inside our room, not only it blocked the view and we had no privacy and they were extremely noisy, like if they were building inside the room. overall this should have been mentioned before you proceed to book the room and probably they should not charge full price since the experience was below average.
- Damir (8/5): Very good - An incredibly beautiful view unfolds from the room's windows. Before your eyes stretches the boundless ocean, and the fresh light breeze sways the white curtains. We rented this room solely for this breathtaking experience. The location is a challenge, especially if you're not into athletics or don't have lightly packed bags. The room is accessed through endless steep stairs. At night, the road to the hotel is unlit, adding complexity to an already challenging path.
- Lucas (5/5): Beautiful Potential, but... - The location and cliff is beautiful, just above Impossibles. The bathroom is a highlight, and things work well since the place seems quite new - internet, hot shower, silent aircon, comfortable bed. The outside area could be really nice to hang out... Biggest issue is there is a construction site just besides it; workers will 100% see you if you simply stand there. Curtains were broken on arrival (no open or close), this was bad due to the workers. Request to check that got ignored; management communication was simply bad. They want you to checkin/out at 3pm and 11am despite booking hours otherwise, and we got reminded to check out at... 11.07am (lol). Borderline argumentative when pushing back this is not what they themselves said before.
- S (9/5): Santorini on budget - Dream worthy location sitting on the cliff side and overlooking the ocean. A few steps down to the beach. Spacious and clean. Might be impractical for those with mobility issues since the only way to access the villas is using a steep set of stairs. You do need to pay someone to carry your luggage. Staff aren’t always available onsite.
- Zoe (10/5): Exceptional - View. Air and fan. Simplicity.
- Matteo (9/5): Superb - Amazing view The apartment is a bit difficult to reach. Literally on the cliff in front of the ocean. Probably not very sustainable place for a touristic accomodations.
- Kelly (8/5): Unique stay on the cliffside! - Beautiful view of coast! A tucked in, remote and quiet stay - be ready for lots of steps! Service was a bit unpredictable and cash preferred as payment but didn't know that until arrival.
- Fiona (9/5): Stunning ocean views - The view is absolutely incredible! Great outdoor living space with huge day bed to sit and watch the waves. Also has an outdoor fan which was great on hotter days. Only a few steps down to impossibles beach. I don’t surf, but if you do I don’t think you could find a better place to stay in Uluwatu! I was in Ulunia Bawah. Just be warned that the great view means a lot of steep stairs to reach the property. This was absolutely fine for me, but if you have mobility issues just be aware.
- Anne (10/5): Paradis - The view was sublime, a real piece of paradise. Thank you to Purni who welcomed us and helped us throughout our stay and who also helped me organise a surprise for my husband. We can't wait to come back!!!
- Glenda (8/5): Great location few steps from the beach - View and location
- Victoria (10/5): a dream comes true - Wow wow wow - it was just amazing. The flat is so stylish, has the perfect view and all you need. Sleeping with the sound of the ocean and waking up with a cup of tea or coffee watching the early morning surfer was just the highlight.
Purni is an amazing host - so kind and helpful, she even dropped me off at a breakfast place and waiting for me to check in! I can highly recommend this place and would always come back!
- Wendy (10/5): We only had three days here at the end of our long holiday. It was a highlight and we will be back. - The location is next level! Impossibles right out front is fantastic. Surf was very easy to access! We were able to organize scooters for our arrival which was ideal to move around the Buket. That I couldn’t stay there forever!
- Mitania (8/5): Amazing view from the bedroom - Steps away to beautiful clear water beach in Uluwatu, padang padang beach. Morning walk on the beach was exceptional. The access would be challenging if you don’t like to walk up and down the stairs on the cliff with minimum light. Night trips would be challenging.
- Piera (10/5): The perfect place.. I am super happy! - OMG, this hotel was just perfect. Everything was amazing, the facilities, the space, the view, it was clean, the staff was super friendly, they even left a cake as a little present for my birthday..
I am super happy with the stay, I wish I had booked longer.
- Hamish (10/5): Exceptional - I almost don’t want to review this place, to keep it a secret. Perfect location. Good facilities. Nice/helpful staff.
The location on the map is a bit confusing, given it shares a long access road with a few other hotels (which a taxi/ride share can take you most of the way down), but it is right on the lower coastal cliff.
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional - This was such an amazing stay, I’ll definitely be back. The photos don’t do it justice it’s h an incredible spot.
- Fessel (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, Purni the person in charge to handle the keys and admin the property was amazing and did everything to make me feel comfortable.
Hardly recommend!
- Dakota (10/5): Exceptional - highly recommended. great place run by a very sweet family
